I am such a sucker for this series. Been a favourite. I definitely feel in love with Bo in Unspoken. That boy will still my favourite <3
Sgt Gary Philips will not disappoint you either. These bunch of military mens, Noah, Bo and Gary was all scrumptious, muscular, talented and caring!
Gary is on leave and runs into Samantha at the bar she works. They have sparks, but Sam has big no to all military men, as she lost her military husband and is trying to survive it. And Gary, other the hand, says no to relationship.
How will their world collide together?
" I need you bad, Sam. Once we're inside, I'm going to strip off these shorts and stick my head between your legs and lap up all the juice your body just made for me"
Oooooo yeah, they are steamy! I love love Jen's writing. Been a fan since I picked her first book. She writes brilliant books. If I see her name, I will just pick up!
I love how Sam and Gary's relationship grew, slow and nice. Nothing rush. How they are trying to resist each other. It was so well-written.
It was nice seeing Bo, Noah too in the story. So, pick it up to read how Sam & Gary will survive their attraction.
Will I Recommend? YES YES YES

First and foremost, I must say WOW!!! This third installment of the series left me wanting more of Grayson Phillips of the US Marine Corps and I didn’t want this book to end since Ms. Frederick was able to incorporate our favorite couples of the Woodland series into the storyline. So if you read the first two books, you will be treated to snippets of Noah, Grace, Bo, AnnMarie, and of course the other fellow Woodland roommates. What I love about this series is that you can read each book as a standalone but I advise and highly recommend everyone to read the first two books because these Woodland men are not only hot, sweet, charming but they will leave you swooning. On that note, I will forewarn you that Gray may not only be your new favorite color but also your favorite Marine. This is not only a marine who serves and protects his country but also a man, who definitely knows how satisfy his lover’s needs.
Unraveled by Jen Frederick is the third book of the Woodland series and focuses on Sgt. Grayson Phillips of the U.S. Marines Corp and Samantha Anderson, a 22 year old widower. Both Gray and Sam are at a crossroads in their lives. Choices have to be made, trust must be earned, adventures must be taken, and broken hearts either remained shattered or healed. Gray and Sam may have conquered and experienced many obstacles in their lives but there is one battle that they must face and answer: What does the heart want? Unraveled will take you on a journey of second chances, loss, love, friendship, family and most importantly the opportunity to choose. To choose whether to take and grasp the new opportunities and adventures life has to offer or to sit back and let our fears take over. How often are we given a second chance at life and love? The only outlet that Sam finds joy and peace is when she knits.
When Gray Phillips and the Woodland boys decides to go out to a bar to celebrate his return home, Gray spots Sam. Lets just say, when these two meet for the first time at a local bar there is a heavy make-out session against the wall that will leave readers wanting more of Gray. Sam is taken aback with the sexual desires and needs that Gray brings out of her. With the help and encouragement of her friends and family, Sam decides to get back out on the dating field and maybe a little summer fling might be the cure to help her move on and knowing that Gray is only going to be in town for a short period time. Sounds perfect right!!! A little fling won’t hurt, right??
Well as Sam and Gray spends more time with each other, attachment and possible feelings of love begins to develop between these two. Gray brings color to Sam’s “grey” world. He allows her to experience and try new things whether it be skydiving, rock climbing, or target shooting. In Sam’s case, she allows him to see that not all women are cheaters. Gray and Sam’s attraction and sexual chemistry can only be described as explosive. As a man of many talents and abilities, Gray definitely knows how to please and fulfill the sexual needs of Sam. Whether it’s against the wall, kitchen, shower, bedroom, bar, floor, couch, car, or even on a canoe, these two can’t keep their hands off each other. In the final week of his vacation, a misunderstanding ensues and causes a rift between the two. Gray must decide to re-enlist or take a chance at love. And Sam must decide whether she can finally take off her wedding ring and take a chance on Gray. Will their ghosts of the past continue to haunt them from moving on? Can love heal old wounds? What will the heart unravel?
Overall, I enjoyed reading Unraveled. This book will leave you believing in second chances at life, love and most importantly to take adventures. Life is too short to wonder the what ifs…. Gray and Sam reminds us all we must live, laugh, love and never regret. I just want to thank Ms. Frederick for introducing us to Noah, Bo, and Gray. When these three men love, they really LOVE and put everything on the LINE. So if you are looking for a series, that will leave you with those butterfly feelings then I would highly recommend you to read the Woodlands Series. Just be prepared to sigh and swoon for Noah, Bo, and of course Gray.

5 - I need a lie-down, a shower, more batteries and some clean panties STARS!!!
Ok, so before we get to my review, I firstly want to say this...
If Jen Frederick continues writing books the same quality as she has Unraveled, then going forward she needs to put some sort of feminine health warning on them. No lie if you enjoy it as much as I did your emotions will swing from giggling like a schoolgirl...and horny, to crying like a baby...and horny, then clapping like a sea-lion when its feeding time at the pool..and horny. You also risk massive weight loss (Ok so I skipped lunch to carry on reading, but I swear I look like I have lost at least 10lbs), oh and did I mention horny!
Now onto the actual review!
The main thing you need to know about Grayson Phillips, is that he is at a crossroads in his life, does he re-up or leave the Marines for pastures new. Being pulled in different directions and facing familial pressure to do both, he decides to visit his former colleagues Noah *swoon* and Bo *sigh*. He sees how they are getting on with life outside the Corps, and appreciates that they have found something meaningful in their career paths and the women they have chosen to spend their time with. Gray is wary of commitment, having been hurt in a big way previously; all he thinks he is looking for are safe, no-commitment hook-ups.
He considers further education as his friends are doing, but isn't sure as to what he would want to pursue, or whether he can manage life as a student, with people that are so much younger than him. Well there is one course this guy definitely doesn't need to take and that is Dirty Talking 101, he has passed that one with a distinction and full honours. I have not read anything so explicitly delicious and imaginatively written in a while, from closet oral, car sex (a Rover no less) to a row boat... There is no end to this Marine’s skills!
Samantha is one of those characters that you wish you could meet in real life. She is the sort of person that thinks of others, and puts everyone else’s needs before her own, and if losing your childhood sweetheart and husband of several months isn’t shitty enough, for the past couple of years has also let familial pressure control how she lives her life, the only difference is the pressure is coming from her deceased husbands family, and their refusal to let their sons memory rest in peace. She has also sworn off ever getting involved with another member of the armed forces, unfortunately one look from Gray Phillips and that little rule flies out of the window. From the get-go their connection is electric, and although wary Sam, realises that she wants’ to explore the connection that they share.
Sam – “You know you’re my adventure.”
She also recognises something in Gray that he doesn't even realise himself, and that is like her he is grieving. Although his grief is for the loss of trust in women and relationships in general, he realises that she may be more than just a temporary fling.
Gray – “Sam got me in a way I don’t think anyone had before.”
There are so many parts of Unraveled that I want to talk about, but being someone that only posts spoiler free reviews I can’t do that, and because of that I am frustrated (but in a good way). This has to be one of the best written books I have read in a long while. From the well thought out plot, to the development of the characters and The Woodlands Series as a whole. The interactions between Bo, Noah and Gray are some of the funniest writing I have ever had the privilege of reading, and something I never thought I would ever say, but the addition of the hobby knitting to this story made it all the more special in view of the way it is used in the relationship between Sam and Gray. There are so many other points in this book that make it special, Jen has managed to write both male and female POV perfectly, the sex is hot, imaginative and written in such a way that you want to get it on with your significant, either that or your trusty B.O.B! if that isn’t recommendation enough, then I don’t know what is!

woohoo! Another Woodlands book!

Unraveled was a likable sexy read but for some reason I just didn’t love it. I mean, I liked it, hence the 3 stars, but there was something about it that held back potential for more star earning.
As a personal fan of this series, I was super excited for Gray’s story after remembering him from Bo’s book, Unspoken. I’ve always liked books with military themes but for some reason between the writing and the characters it kind of fell short for me.
I think what tipped it for me was the fact that Gray seemed easily persuaded or influenced. You can tell that he loves the allegiance and brotherhood that the military gives you but you can also see that deep down he’s at this point where he's already done his time and is debating a new direction in life.
As for Sam, well, she’s the widower of a fallen soldier. Enough said.
With Sam, it’s the 50/50 chance that tragedy may strike twice for her and once again take away the life of the man she loves. But then again, that's the bargain you take in love and war. Is she willing to open up her heart and risk it again?
A very sweet and steamy romance that was just okay in my book. I hope the next installment will be on Tucker or Hamilton!!

5 Finding yourself Stars!!
Unraveled by Jen Frederick is the third book of the Woodland series and tells the story of Gray & Samantha :D
Sgt. Gray Phillips
Gray Phillips is at a crossroads. He has two options - leave the military, go to college, and build a life outside the base, or continue to serve in the Marine Corps.
His been Pressured from all those around him .. His grandfather wants him to continue his military service, and his father want him to get out and go to college. Gray Doesn't know what he wants. On one hand - he loves the Corps. He served eight years of his life. He loves his brothers and sense of belonging. On the other hand, he Doesn't know if that's what he wants to do in the future. He Doesn't know another life and wants a change.
Gray doesn't believe in relationships. Since his girlfriend cheated on him he lived a life without commitments.
So when Bo and Noah invited him to spend his forty-five days of leave he didn't think twice and decided that a change of scenery is exactly what he needs :D
Samantha Anderson
Samantha Lost her husband in Afghanistan two years ago. Their marriage lasted only two months, but they were together for many years. Since his death, the life of Sam stopped. People refer her as the "widow".
Sam has a beautiful soul. Despite all the pain that exists inside her, she always thinks more about people around her than herself. She continues to go to dinner with Will's parents, especially because of his mother .. she feels she can't abandon her.
Since his death, her life stopped. She can't move on. She is stuck in place, her life pass before her, and she's not living it. She can't part with Will's belongings and she's not accepting the fact that he will not return. She works as a bartender at night, and take refuge in knitting.
When Sam and Gary meet, sparks fly!
He saves her awkward meeting at the bar and they hit it off ;)
"I'm going to kiss you now."
His voice was deep and rough, and it matched the rest of his thoroughly masculine body.
"I know," i whispered back.
Gray is the first guy that Sam was attracted to him after the death of Will. It excited her and terrified her at once. She wanted one night stand with him and that's it. however, when they came to her apartment they realized she wasn't ready yet.
Their relationship developed beautifully, they both knew it was temporary, none of them wanted to fall in love!
Gray had to overcome his problem of commitment, he knew that if he would continue to serve the Corps he can't commit, he didn't trust not to be betrayed again .. And of course - the fact that he eventually leaves .. Sam had to open her heart to a new love, understand that loving someone new doesn't erase the feelings she had for Will. And the biggest problem - Can she give her heart to another military man and risk that he will not return?
"Maybe it was beacuse she'd been married to a soldier, but she knew me. she could see inside of me and that both scared the shit of me and excited me in a way that made me worried for my own sanity."
BUT it is impossible to control the heart and what started as temporary was becoming Permanent.
Ohhhhh And how can i not mention the fact that Grey has a hot dirty mouth in bed? This man *fan myself*
"Samantha," Gray said, his breath tiny puffs of air against my lips. I slide infinitesimally closer to him. "Open your eyes." His voice was insistent. "Why?"
"I wan't you to know who's kissing you."
"Wer'e not done yet," I told her. "We may not ever be done."
"I love you, baby. I don't want this to be temporary. I don't want it to end."
Due to a misunderstanding caused by the insecurity of Gray, our couple had split up ;(
Now Gray must overcome his insecurities and fight for the love of his life.
"She wasn't reliant on me to make her entire life, even thought i was beginning to realize that i wanted her to be my sole focus."
Did he succeed?
Are Sam and Gray will overcome their demons?
Does he remain in the army or decide to get out?

Ohh and i was glad to see all the guys again! Bo&AM was so cute together!!! I loved them!! Can't wait for the next book :)

Not having read any other books in the Woodlands series, Unraveled came as a great surprise. I loved the characters and the pace of the story, once I sat down to read it was hard to stop. The author always kept the plot moving. The only aspect that didn't appeal to me was the length of the book that Gray and Sam spend apart. They're relationship started hot and although they both had issues that could have been more debilitating neither ever lingered to the point that it became cumbersome. Gray and Sam developed a fun relationship, they're banter was cute, the passion was intense, and the maturity both characters showed was perfect. While I didn't feel a strong connection either character I still believed in their story. When both the hero and heroine have been through troubling experiences and move forward, maybe with confusion, but still moving forward you're in a for a good love story. The secondary characters intrigued me to the point that I want to know their stories. This book did have spoilers, as in I know how Noah and Bo's stories, respectively, ultimately ended. But that didn't deter me from being curious as to how they got there. The writing was easy to read, the dialogue fun, and the story entertaining. I'm looking forward to more Woodlands books and had the opportunity to start a good series of books with Unraveled.

Loved Sam, had some issues w/ Gray. I wish I remembered to highlight this particular sentence.. but I've seen this sentiment in countless romance books and it always makes me angry.
So it was relatively good, but not great. Will write up more thoughts later.
Ok, so found the quote . "... That was as much as I could get out without looking like I had a vagina."
These are Gray's thoughts as he's talking to his friends, and I don't know. It's such a small thing, but the thing is, is that it's so pervasive in romance. I see these thoughts echoed in the guys POV all the time.
As if having a vagina is something to be ashamed of. Or sharing feelings, being vulnerable is not something any man should do, because you're automatically channeling a woman. Or something in that vein.
Whether or not that's what the author meant to convey, that's what I picked up. I'm not a fan.
Gray does something else rather stupid in the story which didn't make me a fan.. but I did like Samantha quite a bit. I thought her character was well constructed, and more than Gray deserved. But c'est la vie.

Ok, so found the quote . "... That was as much as I could get out without looking like I had a vagina."
These are Gray's thoughts as he's talking to his friends, and I don't know. It's such a small thing, but the thing is, is that it's so pervasive in romance. I see these thoughts echoed in the guys POV all the time.
As if having a vagina is something to be ashamed of. Or sharing feelings, being vulnerable is not something any man should do, because you're automatically channeling a woman. Or something in that vein.
Whether or not that's what the author meant to convey, that's what I picked up. I'm not a fan.

4 Unraveled Stars
Sam & Grey
I am left feeling happy, and I think that’s the best part of these books. Even though the ladies are young there isn’t any OMG DRAMA, and even though most of the men are there age or just a little older. They too are very mature. Granted most have seen and done things no one can imagine. But I don’t know I just really enjoyed these 3 books.
This book was a little different as Sam was a widower, and Grey well he was cheated on and that really messed with his head. But I like that they both had to heal and they helped each other without knowing it. It was pretty awesome if you ask me.
LOVED this narration like I said before Stella is a favorite of mine and Andrew is quickly becoming that too.

I cannot even express how much I loved this book right now. I didn't know it could get better after Unspoken but it can and it has. Jen has impressed me so much with her writing, character development and general awesomeness. This book has rocked my world! I am officially head over heels, deeply, madly in love with Gray Phillips. I’m about to tell you why.
Gray is a man at a crossroads in his life; re-sign his military contract or get out and become a civilian. He’s really struggling with what to do and where he wants his life to go. When it comes to women, he is definitely jaded and very careful. He was hurt badly by his ex-girlfriend and he has never really gotten over that hurt. Because of this, he doesn’t do relationships or commitment. Until he meets Sam. As much as he wants to deny that she’s anything more than just a good time while he’s on leave, he can’t help the connection that he builds with her.
Sam is still recovering from the death of her forever sweetheart and short term husband, Will, who was killed in action in the Army. It’s been two years, but she’s still struggling to move forward and come out of the grief. My heart broke for Sam because she is so young to be a widow and Will was the love of her life. Gray is the exact kind of guy she doesn’t want to fall for but she definitely feels a raw attraction and more importantly, a deep connection. Sam knows her time with Gray is limited but she could never regret the time she spent with him.
This is such a love story and I loved every single step of Sam and Gray’s journey. They are two people with very different situations of loss but they are both grieving and are deeply affected by their experiences. The chemistry is out of this world and I think Jen did a tremendous job of bringing that out in her writing. I really FELT the passion between Sam and Gray and I definitely had butterflies in my stomach a time or two. I could tell Sam and Gray were falling for each other before they even admitted it to themselves. Gray may not do relationships but he’s not a man-whore and he has so much respect for women. I loved the way he protected and cherished Sam and the sweet things he did for her to open her up to life again. He took her on some really sweet and thoughtful adventures and I absolutely loved seeing Gray fall in love with Sam. She totally took him by surprise and buried herself into his heart, which isn’t easy to do.
My only disappointment was Sam’s reaction to a mistake that Gray made. I could totally see why she was hurt but she never gave him the chance to explain and had she just given Gray the chance, they both could have been spared some serious heartache. I loved that Gray gave her the space she needed but didn’t give up on her. He bided his time while he worked on his “big gesture” and it was the sweetest and most romantic thing ever. If I wasn’t ready to jump his bones before that, I would have been sold at this point. While I was frustrated with Sam for letting Gray go, I really think that the time away from him gave her the chance to figure out who she is and what she wants now that she had been awakened again. Her greatest realization was that she could be happy and love again and she had found that with Gray.
I loved seeing all the Woodlands boys again and Noah and Bo are really great friends. They help Gray a lot and give him some great advice. They are two incredible men and they show him what he’s missing with their relationships with Grace and AM. I also really liked Sam’s mom and her sister, Bitsy. They are so supportive of Sam and they want to see her happy again. They give her some really great advice when it comes to Gray. Will’s parents are a bit difficult and I felt bad for Sam because they were really holding her back in her healing. His mother is still dealing with the death and she definitely makes Sam feel guilty for moving forward in her life. Will’s dad is a piece of work and it is obvious that he is part of the reason Will’s mom can’t heal and move forward. He puts a lot of pressure on Sam about going back to school to become a lawyer and join the firm he runs with her mom. I loved that her mom wants her to become a lawyer too, but wants her to be happy more than anything.
Once I started this book, there was no stopping until I finished. I was enthralled from the very beginning and immediately emotionally invested with the characters and their stories. This is just what Jen does when she writes. There is something about her writing that really draws me in. Not only are the characters incredibly developed but Jen writes some very steamy and romantic love scenes. Gray is a dirty talker and those are my favorite kind of book boyfriends. He definitely knows how to make a woman swoon and never want to get out of bed. I loved the ending to this book and the direction that Jen took the storyline and resolved the issues that Sam and Gray both faced. We still have 3 more Woodlands boys to go and this makes me very happy because I will cry like a baby when this series is over.

This is seriously Jen’s best work to date. She’s a master at pulling every kind of emotion out of you. I went from laughing to crying to horny to giddy and circled back around the block numerous times. Usually I LOVE parts of a book, this time I LOVED THE WHOLE DAMN THING!! I am totally blown away by how much I love this book!!!!
The Woodlands Series is one of my favorites. I swear the series just gets better and better. I was loving Bo Randolph hard in Unspoken, but I have to say that Gray just may have unseated Bo as my favorite Marine.
Sgt. Gray Phillips……. you had me at “ma’am”! There is nothing sexier and hotter than a polite Marine!! I simply love EVERYTHING about Sgt. Grayson Phillips! Jen’s ability to capture Gray – his protectiveness, thoughtfulness, sexiness, his firm yet soft demeanor (it’s the whole military thing), the adorable awkwardness around women, the playfulness, that hard sculpted body – and get it down on the pages is amazing. He is heart meltingly delicious. You will easily fall head over heels. (Oh, and did I mention Gray has kind of a hot dirty mouth in bed????)
Jen perfectly captures the military and does a fabulous job showing us exactly what it is like – the sacrifice, commitment, trust, camaraderie, and loyalty. If you haven’t experienced it or know someone that has, you really don’t appreciate what it’s like.
The great writing and flow will have you plowing through this book in no time. Not once did anything feel rushed. The character and backstory development is impressive. It wasn’t thrown in your face all at once, it was done well and unfolded at the right pace. The dialogue overall is fantastic. And, I love the insightful and profound things the guys had to say. It’s absolutely hilarious and laugh out loud funny, literally. It’s a good thing I live in Boston and crazy people riding the train are not an uncommon occurrence, otherwise my outbursts would not have been ignored as they were.
I can’t say enough about Unraveled and the entire Woodlands Series. FABULOUS FABULOUS FABULOUS!!! Just as Unspoken did, Unraveled will definitely be on my Top 10 list for the year (after all it IS a Jen Frederick book).

Grayson Phillips is not hard to love. He was a bit bitter, in the middle of a crossroad in his life, but he was a great friend, and an amazing brother to his platoon-mates. I wonder what made his ex cheat on him, to have a boyfriend who is as hot, as faithful and as loyal as him is such as luck, because species like him are already endangered. He loved being a Marine, and he likes being with his brothers, but at the same time, he wonders what was it like to go out, be a civilian and live a normal life.
He got forty-five days to make up his mind.
Thank goodness for his father, who had to pull some strings for it to happen. So he packed his bag, went to Woodlands, and be with his friends while he thinks about his future.
Now here comes a young widow, Sam Anderson, who seemed to find a way into his mind. He didn’t believe that women are capable of fidelity when a Marine goes on deployment. Now, more than his future – he’s got to choose: take a risk with Sam or go back to the Marines?
It took a long time before Sam realizes that she had grieved enough. She was made a widow by the love of her life two months after they exchanged their vows. Two years later, everyone is still tiptoeing around her, she still goes to lunch with her husband’s parents, she still wears their rings, and he still has his paraphernalia on the walls of their condo. She had a life filled with grief, guilt, regrets and loneliness. Meeting Gray had allow her to open her life to possibilities and risk. It was her chance to live again, but will she take the risk in giving her heart to another marine who may suffer the same fate as her late husband?
Just like the rest of the Woodlands series, I enjoyed reading this book. I fell in love with both characters, my heart broke for their suffering, and elated when they finally decided to live again. Sam is a brave girl. It takes someone with enough bravery to finally decided to let go of something you hold on dearly, then take a risk with something unfamiliar to you. Gray was suppose to be a fling, a rebound – she never expected to fall in love with him, or for him to break her heart.
Sometimes, Gray frustrates me. Sam was ready to take the leap, why couldn’t he? Not all girls are like his ex girlfriend. A lot of women could be faithful and loyal, and stay true to their man no matter how long, how far they might be from each other. He was keen on guarding his heart, and keeping love away. Maybe that what scared him – the intense emotion brought about by Sam. Crossing my fingers, I was hoping he wasn’t too late…
Ah yes, who can forget his grand gesture?!!! Sam might have made hers first, but I think his efforts won. Awwwww…. A man after my own heart. I didn’t expect it of him, never imagined he would do something like it – but for me, all his mistakes, all his stupid decisions and his fears were instantly erased when he decided what to do for his ‘grand gesture’. I think my smile reached my ears, and I swooned a little. He was a Marine, he was a toughie, he was well respected by his buddies, and yet, he chose to make it for her – with this he owns my heart.
I loved the banters he had with Bo, they made me laugh so hard my eyes watered. They had a good camaraderie, and a blind person would see how much they care for each other. It was nice to see the old gang back in this book. I missed Bo, and yes, Noah too.
I enjoyed reading this novel. I laughed, swooned, cried a little and fell in love. Jen Frederick had me hooked from start to finish. The grand gestures were to die for, and yes, I wish someone would love me THAT much to do something LIKE THAT for me, and the sex? OMG. It was so hot, I can feel my bed on fire. Sam, for all that she has been through, all the pain and the los she experienced – totally deserved it! Totally looking forward for the next book in the series!>

This truly has to be my favorite book in this series, even though I loved them all. I just LOVED Gray *swoons* and Samantha was pretty awesome too! I loved the fact that Gray wasn't a manwhore like so many other military stories that you read when they go on their leave. I also loved that even though Samantha experienced loss, she did not let that get her down. She was a totally lovable heroine. Everything that happened was so real and what Grayson did to prove his love for her was just awesome. I have to write about this one scene in the book that really got to me, in a good way, but don't read it if you haven't read this book because it is a spoiler.

Jen Frederick hooked me since her first book in the Woodlands series, and after reading Unraveled , it doesn't seem to be changing anytime soon.
Grayson Phillips is struggling with his future. Should he separate from the Marines and give college a go, or does he re-enlist and continue his grandfather's legacy? Needing a break to clear his head, he decides to visit with his Marine buddies, Noah and Bo (remember them? *swoon*).
Samantha Anderson is a 22 year-old widow who hasn't quite been herself since she lost her marine husband, Will. Her heart hasn't so much as fluttered at another guy. That's okay because Sam doesn't need anyone. She busies herself with her job at the local bar and knitting. Yes, she's a young knitter, don't judge!
Gray has been burned by love in the past, when his ex cheated on him and nearly gave him an STI. Cheaters make him enraged, so when he sees a wedding ring on Sam's finger during their steamy encounter at the bar, he ends it immediately. And he gives her a little piece of his mind too. As much as he wants to forget her, Sam sparks up this foreign feeling in him that he can't seem to ignore.
Sam still can't take her wedding ring off, but Gray is the only man that has gotten her engine running (if ya know what I mean!) She really doesn't want to suffer the loss of another marine, but Gray has awoken her (and her libido). Maybe it is time to move on after all.
While it may not have been my favorite book in the Woodlands series, Unraveled was a an incredibly sweet story. I enjoyed seeing both characters go through their own self-discovery and find strength in each other. This book was SO freaking hot! I mean, I had to fan myself every time Gray and Sam were around each other. They really had great chemistry that went beyond sexual though.
It was also great to see characters from the previous books. That's what I love about series. You get to know the characters more and more and you begin to feel a part of their world.
Comedy, romance, really hot car sex (bed sex, bar sex, everywhere a sex sex!)… This is a book you definitely don't want to wait long to read.

So ever since I read "Unspoken (The Woodlands" Bo's and AM's story we met Gray Phillips a Marine whom Bo served with. I fell in love with him instantly and wanted a book. I had thought that maybe he would have been the last in the series but I was surprised that this is his book. I must admit that I had mixed feelings about this book and wondered if Ms. Frederick could pull it off and I also saw some reviewers who weren't happy with it. In my opinion this book is great, it's different and I think that Ms. Frederick as developed and has matured the series overall with this book.
Gray has leave from the Marines (45 days) to think what he wants (to re-enlist or get out of the Marines) He goes out to visit Bo and Noah to think it all out. He doesn't do relationships because of his ex Carrie.
Sam is 20 and has be living in a daze since she became a widow as her husband Will Anderson. Sam works at Gatsby's which belongs to Adam's Dad and there she is saved by Gray and her libido awakens to life. Throughout this book they are both on a journey working through the seven steps of grief, thinking about past regrets and future choices.
As always the H fucks up but I mean come on Sam could of spoken to Gray about it. But that Ethan Drake is a piece of shit and deserved the pounding he got. Some things are worth fighting for. When it comes to Gray making his choice he gets a pep talk from his CO.
"It is a honor to be a Marine. We have the smallest number of men compared to any other military branch we are the first to be called out. We stand constantly ready and can be shipped out in twenty-four hour notice because the president knows we are always ready. The Marines were called on first to lead the charge into battle. The Marines were the first to orbit the moon. John Glenn was a Marine. John Wayne wanted to be one. The Marines are first, ready, able. Our fighting force is so fierce the Germans called us Teufels Hunden" (Hellhounds)
Now, I also would like to see a book about Tucker Anderson looks like he has a lot of demons.
Gray has leave from the Marines (45 days) to think what he wants (to re-enlist or get out of the Marines) He goes out to visit Bo and Noah to think it all out. He doesn't do relationships because of his ex Carrie.
Sam is 20 and has be living in a daze since she became a widow as her husband Will Anderson. Sam works at Gatsby's which belongs to Adam's Dad and there she is saved by Gray and her libido awakens to life. Throughout this book they are both on a journey working through the seven steps of grief, thinking about past regrets and future choices.
As always the H fucks up but I mean come on Sam could of spoken to Gray about it. But that Ethan Drake is a piece of shit and deserved the pounding he got. Some things are worth fighting for. When it comes to Gray making his choice he gets a pep talk from his CO.
"It is a honor to be a Marine. We have the smallest number of men compared to any other military branch we are the first to be called out. We stand constantly ready and can be shipped out in twenty-four hour notice because the president knows we are always ready. The Marines were called on first to lead the charge into battle. The Marines were the first to orbit the moon. John Glenn was a Marine. John Wayne wanted to be one. The Marines are first, ready, able. Our fighting force is so fierce the Germans called us Teufels Hunden" (Hellhounds)
Now, I also would like to see a book about Tucker Anderson looks like he has a lot of demons.

Unraveled is a quick romantic read written in dual POV’s. I would have liked more interaction and dialogue between Sam and Gray as opposed to their inner thoughts. Their courtship seemed a bit rushed, but I enjoyed their romance and witnessing them fall in love.

I can not get enough of this series! Each book just gets better and better. And let me just say...GRAYSON is steaming hot! *give me a second while I finish fanning myself* Ok no...*fanning again* I'm good. :)

Or is there more that he is missing in life, by staying in and giving up the one thing he wants...love. We get to see all the usual's from the Woodland Series and I just loved the chemistry between Sam and Gray. The push and pull and romance. Sigh. Definite 5 stars from me. If you haven't picked up this series - its a must!

Gray is taking a short break from the Marines to get his head straight. Now is the time to think of whether or not to go back as a marine or stay out for a while. When he saw Sam there was an instant attraction but pissed off to find out there was a ring on her finger. He can't stand cheaters. The more he gets to know her the more he wants to be with her. The time limit for him to go back is closing and he must make a choice.
Sam lost her husband lost his life in the marines. She had her share of regrets and doesnt want to repeat her situation by finding another men from the marines or army. Only thing is she can't away from Gray.

When I heard that The Woodlands would have a book three I was really excited, not only because I love this series but because I am really really liking everything Jen Frederick is writing. So when she contacted me asking to read this book it was a no brainer for me. Lately I have been shying away from NA books just because my taste has been moving in other directions, but with his book that is definitely not the case. I never felt bored reading this book, and I never wanted to put Unraveled down so I could read something else. I think a first paragraph in any book is important(yes I know that you can't always decided if a book is good by just one paragraph) I think it sets the mood and the voice or tone of a book and I was easily hooked and drawn into this story right away.
Sam has been existing for two years now she is Sam the widow of Will, Sam and Will were friends growing up and when they were teens they easily moved to more so when they found out that Will would be deployed to Afghanistan they married, but two months later Will was gone. So when Sam see's a man who not only catchers her eye when all others blend in with the background but awakens something in her that she thought died with her husband she is shocked.
Gray has been in the Marines since he graduated high school, and thought he would retire from the marines but now he's having second thoughts. Gray knows that he will never have a relationship till he is out of the service because no relationship can withstand the Marines. He learned that the hard way when his girlfriend of four years cheated on him with the officer who signed him up for the Marines. So with 45 days of leave Gray not only plans to relax and visit his friends but to decide what he wants to do with his life.
When Gray and Sam meet the sparks are instant and off the charts but Sam has a lot of baggage ad Gray doesn't do anything more than sex. When they both agree to this agreement they know it will only be temporary not just because Gray is on leave but because neither is ready for more. The more time Sam and Gray spend together they quickly and easily start to feel more for each other than just a fling, till they finally admit not only to themselves but to each other they feel so much more. But someone from Grays past interferes and now Gray and Sam may just call it quits when they finally started to think they could last so much longer than 45 days.
This story was so different from most NA that it was refreshing. I loved how this is not only a story of love but of learning to be brave so that you can fall in love again, and also a story of the people who love you helping you when you don't have the strength to help yourself. Gray was another great hero in this series he was possessive and strong, and Sam was a wonderful heroine, though she had went though more trials and pain most young people go through she was not only resilient but strong and knew she deserved to be happy and more than just a widow.
We also get more of everyone we have met from the Woodlands so far and that's always a bonus in this series since they are all so easy to love. This story was hard at times and I found myself crying for all not only what Sam had went through but for WIll's family as well, Ms. Frederick brought me right along for this story. But this books wasn't just sad there are many funny parts that I was cracking up when I read them and of course there was sweet and steamy as well. I can't wait to see who is next in this series and what will come next, this is definitely a series worth following and I will be waiting impatiently for book four.

I am a huge fan of the Woodlands series. I love that Jen can so easily twist emotion, humour and steam into her books without it feeling she is trying too hard or without any of the components feeling like they are lacking.
But as much as I love this series and the guys in it I have to say that this one is probably my least favourite of the 3 and I don't know if it was just that I maybe wasn't in the mood for it or if there was just something small that was missing. But I didn't feel this book.
That isn't to say I didn't enjoy it or that I am not stalking her blog to see when the next book is coming out, just that I put the book down and didn't really care. I think maybe there was too much of the everyday mediocre and not enough of the heart stopping drama or sweep me off my feet romance or take my breath away lust and for me that's why I read.
Gray was a marine with a crisis of faith and Sam was a widow who's emotions were finally coming out of deep freeze after losing her husband. Together that made the perfect couple and I loved that they both fought for what they wanted and never lost faith.
As always the secondary characters were great and I really look forward to Finn's story next.

I am a fan of Jen Fredick's Woodlands series. I thoroughly enjoyed Undeclared and Unspoken. So I was pretty excited to get started on Unraveled. I really enjoyed Gray and Samantha's story. I can't say that its my favorite of the series but I still liked it.
Gray is at a crossroads in his life. He's got forty five days of leave to decide if he wants to stay in the Marine Corps or get out. Gray doesn't believe that relationships last in the Corps when on deployment because his last girlfriend cheated on him. But then he meets Sam and things change. I liked Gray. He was a strong guy. Yes, he behaved like a complete jerk at times but he was still a good guy.
Samantha lost her husband to an IED in Afghanistan. She has been mourning his loss for years and regrets not going after what she wanted. Then she meets Gray and even though Sam is determined not to fall for another military man there's no denying the attraction between them. I liked Sam. You can feel her grief but her feelings for Gray are true.
Gray and Sam's relationship starts off as casual. But truthfully, only they can see whats really going on with each other. Sam and Gray's relationship was kinda cliched but I still enjoyed it. Gray sees Sam as more than a widow and Sam understands Gray. This book definitely had a more mature feel to it. Maybe because Gray and Sam had been through such a lot.
The steamy scenes were definitely HOT. Also, we get loads of Bo, Annmarie and Noah. I loved those parts the most. And I am SO curious to know more about Finn. I hope we get his and Adam's book soon. Unraveled was a really good read and it gets a solid four from me.

Gray and Samantha
Samantha married her high school sweetheart. Then Will joined the army and was shipped off. Samantha and Will were not married long but because they were together for a long time Will's family became her family before they were even married. Sam loves Will's family and is really close to all of the Anderson's. But then tragedy struck and Sam was a widow at 19.
No other man has stirred the emotions in Sam that Will had until Gray walks into her bar.
Gray is on an extended leave from the military. Gray has some decisions to make, re-enlist or get out. Gray decides to spend his vacation with Noah and Bo who were in the marines with him. These three saw a lot of combat together and are really close friends. As Gray and the boys go to the local bar he meets a bartender Sam who knocks his socks off. There's some heavy kissing, some body stroking and then a big misunderstanding.
Sam and Gray even though they had a huge misunderstanding cannot stop thinking about each other. Finally they both decide to take a chance on a relationship.
I feel like this story has a lot of trying to find themselves for both characters. Sam with realizing she needed to move on from Will's death and stop holding onto just a memory and live life. And Gray with figuring out if he was truly a happy marine or just serving his country to follow in his grandfather and fathers footsteps.
Sam figures out how to move forward with Gray as part of her life and takes a leap of faith with love. And Gray figures out where he belongs and what he is willing to give up to be with Sam.

Before we return you to your regularly scheduled programming, a side story under the same banner. Okay, so the series is Woodlands, which, I thought, was about the group of young men who live together in said abode. Gray is a marine buddy to the ones who had the first two stories, hence, my original comment. So if you were looking for one of the other guys stories, this isn't it, though Adam is kind of around
This had some deep emotions in it, not really angsty, but more grown up considering the ages of our characters. It is all justified though, they have been through a lot. Like the other books in the series, this is about the relationship forming, and deciding if it is the one
Overall, completely enjoyed it, and will easily continue on with the series. There were some new and exciting side characters here, can't wait to see if they show up later, once a little older Miss Bitsy, or how things play out, umm Tucker

Other than the fact that this is a really fast book (in contrast to the others where it felt like there was a longer period of relationship development even if there wasn't), I mostly liked this until the end conflict, because that was terrible. And in fairness to the book, it's acknowledged that it was terrible. But I really, really didn't like it at all.
On the whole, this JF experiment has been a mostly enjoyable reading experience. I don't think it's one I'd pay to continue, and I would have to pay to continue since I'm out of her books on scribd and my library doesn't carry her. It's sort of a shame because I really would like to try the Hitman books because the ridiculousness of that premise is up my alley but I am not paying Berkley prices for them.

This series has been a hit for me. Although I confess I still haven't read the first one. Which should show you that they can operate as stand alone books.
After meeting Grey in Bo's book I was so ready to get this one. It did not disappoint!
Grey is taking a break from his life as a marine to evaluate if he will recommit. He meets Sam who is a widow after her high school sweetheart died in service. They'd been married 2 months. I don't always love stories with widows because I don't like torn hearts, but it wasn't a huge problem for me here. It worked. Jen Frederick made me ok with it all.
I love the Woodlands boys! Bring on the next!

these books might be my new guilty pleasure. like they're the classic fun story, but not well executed, melodramatic FUN stuff. Can't stop won't stop.
