The authors make the point that leaders must exhibit Emotional Intelligence, not just IQ to be successful. There are 4 cornerstones of emotional intelligence: 1) emotional literacy (getting in touch w/ your emotions); 2) emotional fitness (authentic presence & building trust); 3) emotional depth (applied integrity, influence w/o authority) & 4) emotional alchemy (intuitive flow, opportunity sensing & creating the future). An updated edition (the book was written in 1996) w/ updated business examples would be an improvement. I found the best parts of the book were the personal stories like when where one of the authors describes his encounters in Tibet.
