Harley Breed thought he knew who his family were. But when a long-held secret comes to light, his world gets turned upside down–and he loses the only girl he’s ever loved.
Fuelled by fury at his situation, he takes up MMA fighting as a way of channelling his aggression. At his first official fight, a shadow from his recent past shows up, seeking refuge from her abusive ex. Despite the feeling that there’s more to her story than she claims, Harley knows he wants to help her again.
Lily Adams is on the run. After a brush with death at the hands of her violent fiancé, she winds up in Blue Haven, seeking the stranger who’s already saved her life once.
As their lives become entangled, it’s only a matter of time before one… or both… fall. But what happens when Lily’s past, and her secrets, finally catch up with them?
Amazing! The book, the series, the characters... just Amazing. I am so sad that I have finished the series, I loved it so much!
Harley and Lily's story was absolutely riveting, and I couldn't put it down. Again, JL Skye has managed to include topics that can be traumatic, but she is such a talented writer that she is able to treat each of them with complete respect and was still able to write them into the book in a way that added value to the story!
There's a part in the book that says that people come into your life when they're needed, and I believe that to be true about books also. Reading books that engage you so completely that you form an emotional connection to them and end up getting all the feels is such a cathartic experience, and I thank JL Skye for giving her readers this experience.
Tropes: Dual POV, Who did this to you, Small town romance, protector nurturer dynamic, dealing with loss/grief, found family, training montage, running from her past, MMA, virgin fmc, mysterious past, secrets and lies, mafia

“People will come into your life when you need them.”
It’s the end of this delightful same universe connected standalone series. It has been a wild ride and I’m so grateful JL Skye for her gorgeous Blue Haven university universe. What an end to a fantastic series.
JL Skye is back with a smash of a last book. Get the boxing gloves out because this a fun ride! The prologue has us off running and oh what a start! Our beloved Harley is back after his life has been turned upside down, a chance lifesaving moment he meets Lily. After parting ways their lives cross again.
She holds many secrets and running for her life. Her world from birth created to be that of not her own making. While Harley is angry at the world and learns MMA to have an outlet.
Can they be each others hero? Can they really save themselves?
Well I know, but you don’t, so you better go read it.
Also I always love the multi POV and loved the surprise POVs in this!
As always there are triggers so be sure to check them if you need to!
Bye bye Blue haven, it’s been an unbelievable ride! I can’t wait for further work by JL Skye!
I enjoyed this book the most out of the series, a lot happened within this book. There was fighting, making up, family reunions and more. So many feels.
I adore Harley, he pretends he’s rough round the edges but he is so sweet and has just been through a lot of emotional trauma. Harley’s going through a lot at the beginning with the big family revelations from the last book and is angry at the world. He got the happy ending he deserved.
Lily was a perfect match for him, they helped eachother through their pain and she really helped him find himself again in a time where they both lost themselves.
The relationship development between Harley and Conrad is so sweet. Watching them go from enemies to potentially gaining the brother bond they deserve. Love to see it!
The chapter with Sam and Conrad was so sweet to read. It was the chat they had needed.
It was also really nice to have a chapter of Lachy’s pov, because as he doesn’t have a storyline for a book it was lovely to hear inside his mind.
This book explores darker themes than the other books in the series, so please be kind to yourself and check the content warnings.
You’ve done it again! What an incredible way to end the Blue Haven University series. I have loved Harley from the get go. Watching his struggles in the background of the other books, made me want his story even more. I loved watching being his character growth throughout Chasing Shadows. The way he allowed himself to open up to love again after heartbreak and his relentless fight for his family. I absolutely devoured this book! The anticipation from the prologue made me feel like I was sitting on the edge of my seat the entire book. Not only was the plot line of this book incredible, the love and tension between Harley and Lily was everything I needed. I also feel in love more with Conrad, if that was even possible! I had a tear in my eye during the epilogue. It’s bitter sweet to say goodbye. Now, I can’t wait to reread the series and visit my favourites again.
I loved finally seeing Harley’s story and really enjoyed the mma elements! I was so intrigued from the prologue omg. Seeing all the Blue Haven characters get their happy ending was so sweet. The found family in this series is next level. I’m going to miss this town and all the characters🥹
A perfect ending to an amazing standalone series. The growth these characters (and the author) has shown over the four books is nothing short of amazing.
I will never stop recommending this book or the others in the Blue Haven University series ❤️
I loved it, yet again! This book is way less based on the friend group though and focused more with Lilys side of things. Was a great read. I adore Harley!
⭐⭐⭐⭐ .5 Loved, would recommend to everyone, only a small issue 🌶️: start at 50% vanilla sex, around 3 described scenes, might have praise kink and maybe one butt play scene.
harley breed thought he knew his family, but a long-hidden secret shatters his world and costs him the only girl he’s ever loved. angered by his situation, he turns to mma fighting to channel his aggression. at his first official fight, lily adams, a shadow from his past, seeks refuge from her abusive ex. despite sensing there's more to her story, harley decides to help her again. as their lives intertwine, lily’s past and her secrets threaten to catch up with them, putting both at risk.
this book was packed with twists and turns balance with emotional and heartfelt moments. i adored harley's hidden sweet nature and his journey of navigating through his emotional trauma and the fallout from family secrets. his relationship with lily is beautifully developed as they help each other heal and rediscover themselves. also seeing harley and conrad go from enemies to brothers was my favourite. harley's journey to his well-deserved happy ending is truly satisfying. i was so not prepared for lily's back story but omg that was wild.
tropes: reluctant hero, forced proximity, strangers to lovers, sports romance (mma), mafia triggers: kidnapping, medical issues
Blue Haven University 1. Wild Hearts - ⭐⭐⭐.5 2. Before You - ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 3. Sparks Fly - ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 4. Chasing Shadows - ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5
I’ve loved every moment of this series! I’m so sad that it is over, Blue Haven Series will become one of my re reads for when I want to feel the nostalgia of my childhood.
Harley and Lily story was full of intense emotions and some trauma that both character need to work through, and what an amazing journey that these two go through with the help of each other and their friends and family.
J.L Skye you have created the most beautiful series I have the pleasure of reading.
The final installment of the series is a mix of emotions. This book brings a level of intensity that surpasses the first three, and it has a darker tone. I couldn’t put it down!
Get ready for a thrilling adventure! The prologue kicks things off at a rapid pace, and what an exhilarating beginning it is! Our cherished Harley returns, but his world is completely turned upside down until he crosses paths with Lily in a moment that could change everything. After they part ways, their lives intertwine again. Harley’s anger leads him to explore MMA as an outlet. His background struggles, highlighted throughout the earlier books, made me crave his story even more. It was so rewarding to witness his character development in Chasing Shadows as he learned to open his heart to love again after experiencing heartbreak, all while fiercely fighting for his family.
Lily is full of mysteries and running for her life, her existence shaped entirely by forces beyond her control. The storyline of this book is absolutely captivating, and the chemistry and tension between Harley and Lily provided everything I was looking for. Intriguingly, I found myself loving Conrad even more in this installment than in his own story!
This is the fourth book in the Blue Haven University series and we finally get Harley’s story.
This book is a whirlwind of lust and suspense, I throughly enjoyed Lily’s character and how strong she was to escape her past.
Multiple POVs towards the ending of the book was the perfect way to round off this series, although I wouldn’t say no to a lil Lachy novella - reading how he met his supermodel girlfriend.
Thank you for sending me this book Jenna, love your writing, so grateful for you!
