"Slave [Novella]" By: Brian W. Smith

My Thoughts....

Well, I guess going to a 'Book Club Meeting' will never be the same as it was for author Cleo Strong. How this set up was made by his publishing agent who was supposed to be working for him in getting the best deals, however, I guess there are some people you can not trust. In the end well, I will stop here and let you read it for yourself to see how Vivian was rewarded. I did enjoy this short story that was definitely brought to a satisfying end.

All I know is...umm...with fans like these...no one needs enemies! Good grief Charlie Brown! I tell ya...The daggum ladies in this book club will make you wish you had never ...well..something. There's not much I can say except...read it. In true BWS style, he surprises us with something...he always keeps you guessing.

I was leery about reading the story because of the title, but after reading the story it is fitting. What happens when an author visits a book club meeting for discussion of his work? I'll just say this was not your ordinary book club meeting. Fancy neighborhood, plenty of alcohol, 4 bold women and an erotic novel to discuss...Not the ending you may think. The story line reminds me of the situation between Prince and his record company.

Slave was a very interesting read!!! Cleo is a successful author that is unhappy with his current publishing agency and publicist Vivian and is seriously considering cutting ties to find a better offer elsewhere. Vivian manages to get Cleo to hold off on making any hasty decisions for a few days and gets him to agree to make an appearance at a book club meeting with a few very influential woman. Little does Cleo know, he is about to get the proposition of a lifetime!! This is where the story gets crazy, I'm not going to give anything away but I will say these "FANS" take their love of an author to a whole other level!! I liked Cleo' s character right away, he seemed very down to earth and knew what direction he wanted his writing career to go in and wasn't one to hold his tongue that's for sure. He knew Vivian wasn't doing all she could be to get him what he wanted and was just looking out for herself. I didn't like her from the start and after finishing the book I feel like she got what she deserved. I did have a few moments when I didn't agree with a few thoughts he had about one of his "FANS" during a point in the story, these made him seem very pig-headed and cruel in my opinion. Overall this was an excellent read and I would most definitely recommend to all you ladies out there, this is a story that will not disappoint!!! Also I wanted to ask Brian W. Smith a question, where did you get the inspiration for this particular story and was it based off of personal experiences??? LOL

When readers take characters to another level.

Best selling Erotic author Cleo Strong is dealing with the woes of being a writer, stuck between letting his agent go or stay she presents him with a deal to meet with a book club.Once he meets with his loyal fans he finds out just obsessed they are with his characters.

A Good quick short story. Once again Brian brings his A game and it doesn't take much. I enjoyed the characters. Can't wait to see what he has up his sleeve next.

Cleo is a author with problems. His agent hasn't secured the deal he wanted but he doesn't have another agent in mind. As he discusses his thoughts about dropping her, she suggests a meeting with a local book club. He agrees to think about their continued business relationship and attending the book club meeting. He never saw it coming...really. Wish the story was longer but in Smith form he makes you want to read more.....

Cleo Strong is a best selling Erotica author that is unhappy with his contract and also his agent. In one last attempt to keep her client, Vivian sets up a meeting with a Book Club that he will never forget. In true Brian Smith fashion, the was a twist at the end that you do not see coming. I enjoyed this novella, but I wish it was longer.

Great short story! You cannot predict the ending of a BWS book, but you do know it will be good.
