In the deadly future after the second civil war, the United States is divided and dangerous…
Agent Heather Slade is a beautiful well-crafted fake. A perfect lie. A highly-trained asset with no country, no memory, and no home. She spies for a secretive group of Revo agents from the democratic Free States and fights against the crushing power of the charismatic authoritarian leader who controls the militant Patriot regions. Risking her life, she infiltrates top levels of the brutal government and lives deeply under cover with her enemies.
Heather’s current mission is to smuggle a package from under the President’s nose onto a highly guarded golden train and bring it to safety in the Free States. Her partner on the perilous journey is a handsome but inexperienced foreign agent with secrets of his own. Why is Miguel Robles so hauntingly familiar? He might hold the key to finding the family she no longer remembers—if they survive the mission.

I'm a Southern California girl, born and raised. I live with my husband, two sons, a wild cat, and a very old snake. I have been an accountant, substitute teacher, caterer, financial analyst for a major defense contractor, real-estate broker, aerobics instructor, freelance writer and caregiver to creatures the kids/hubby/dog drag in.
Exceptionally well written, keeps the reader from the beginning to the end on the edge of their seat. Does end on a cliff hanger, will have to wait for the next book in the series. Has so much action, drama, intrigue, suspense, new love/caring, mystery and villains. Heather is an asset that has no memory or past which her handler- Madame X, uses to send her to make sure the package gets to where it needs to be. Miguel "Mike" is also an asset and on his first mission as a bodyguard. Both meet up and do everything to make sure things go right. Has some light steam between them. Does have some extreme moments for them when they think they will be caught by the ones who think nothing of killing people. At the end of their mission, Madame X helps to remove Heather's memory of Mike and this mission, while Mike's memory is back to the day when all this starts. He unable to remember Heather and the time he has spent with her. His friend does remember everything that was told to him, maybe in the next story, he'll help Mike to remember. Can't wait for the next in this series. Would recommend to others.

The Package is a thrilling suspense book by Kimberley Troutte. At times this story is scary, others electrifying, and others almost sweet. Yet, it is a dark original world that is alternate The Infiltrix book one has such uniquely equipped characters for the dangerous mission of delivering the package that I felt that they would succeed but found myself holding my breath anyway until the very end.
Agent Heather Slade is much more than she seems and much more than she knows. Miguel Robles and Heather have a connection that was only hinted at in this story but makes one want the next book now. Not exactly the conclusion I wanted but fitting to the plot. It has been a long time since a thriller has caught me by the heartstrings, becoming so addictive that I find it hard to wait for the next.
The Package is a nail-biting winner of a story. In fact, the best book I have read by Kimberley Troutte, who is a master story creator and teller with this chilling futuristic tale.
Excellent story! This is a fascinating tale that didn’t end the way I expected it to end. Heather Slade is assigned a mission to get a package across one territory and into another one. Mike/Miguel Robles is assigned to help her in this mission. Along the way she and Mike face multiple obstacles and figure out a way to overcome each one. They work well together, and there are hints that they might have known each other in earlier times, but both suffer from traumatic memory loss, and can’t be sure. They do have helpful friends who can lend a hand when needed, but only in major emergencies and not necessarily quickly.
This story made me think about so many different issues happening today, and about the role that propaganda plays in our current political and news climates. The pace is rapid and the tension ratchets up dramatically in places. There are unanswered questions that are left unresolved for a reason. One can surmise that they will be addressed in future books.
Wow-what an adventure on the Golden Patriot Express. Agent Heather Slade is tasked with delivering a package to the free states and partnered with Mexican diplomat Miguel Robles. From the first sentence through the twist and turns there was a sense of danger (and a touch of romance) in this post second Civil War setting brilliantly created by the author. I was quickly turning the page Who to trust? What is really happening? I highly recommend this fast-paced thriller but be warned once you start you won't be able to put it down. The book is left on a cliff hanger (Which I usually despise but the book is so well-written I am able to overlook this). I am highly anticipating Heather's next mission and perhaps some answers about Miguel. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This book is fast paced and full of action and intrigue. It’s about an alternative future which is in a word scary. The state of the world today the fear and uncertainty so clearly and cleverly written about seems all too real. The characters are on one hand blank slates as they are for the most part undercover secret agents. On the other hand they are soldiers, freedom fighters, mysterious and intriguing who draw you into this dark world and take you on an unbelievable adventure. An amazing story!.

First book that I have read by this author and I have to say it was a enjoyable read. It is fast paced, intriguing, entertaining and so much more. I found myself turning page after page because I had to know what was going to happen next. I loved the story line, and I loved the characters. This book was not at all what I expected. I cannot wait for the next one. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The Package is the first story in The Infiltrix series, set in the future (perhaps far more near future than we’d like to believe). Heather is an asset, an operative, a woman with no history, no country, and no memories… and it’s planned to be that way. She carries out missions without question, for the most part, and this upcoming mission should be no different… but it will be.
There are books where I believe it’s difficult to review beyond the bare basics, not because they’re bad, but because to say too much is to tell a story that should be read individually for the full impact of the situation. The Package is that kind of book. If the cover description doesn’t draw you in, then I don’t think that my words will either. I also believe that politics should not ever be part of a review; what we each believe should remain within ourselves in this venue. Yet, I could not help but draw parallels between this fictional world and events happening right now. I think that makes The Package a more intriguing story in so many ways. This one ends on a cliffhanger (which I usually avoid like the plague), yet it works perfectly in this case. The need to know what comes next is extremely high.
I enjoyed The Package by Kimberley Troutte. It’s intense, often causing the reader to think of their own views on subjects. There are twists that seem to come out of nowhere, turns that are totally unexpected, and a cast of characters that the reader isn’t always sure if they are friend or foe. In this case, this story is one that the reader needs to experience firsthand. I found it well-written, emotional, and intense, and it often left me with more questions than answers. I’ll continue the series because The Package did its job; it has made me need to know what comes next.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the author or the author’s team via Booksprout, and I sincerely thank them for their trust. It is my choice to leave a review, giving my personal opinion about this book.*
The Package by Kimberley Troutte is excellence on steroids. Captivating. Thrilling.
The setting is a train. This may seem mundane, but I cite Agatha Christie's Orient Express as proof a train setting is not mundane. This setting is every bit crucial to the success of this story. The train is a full-fledged character pulling strings and manipulating the story. Not saying personification, but ...okay, read the story,
Second, the story is dystopian and done in such an intriguing way we are stumped, mystified, intrigued, curious, and hunger to read more. Nuff said, can't spoil it for you.
Third, the characters are prime for the silver screen. Seriously, Agent Heather Spade and Miguel Pobles are so well portrayed. Think MI6. Think 007. This is the type of fabulous story contained in the pages. I loved it to the end....Well, I had hoped for the "other ending," but we have the correct ending.
The plot, the themes, I'm just saying this book deserves to be a best-seller.
I received an ARC through "Booksprout" and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
In this story has a mission to deliver a package to the "Free States". She will be working with an new partner named Mike. This is Mike's 1st mission and doesn't know what it is all about. Once they finally meet, they get onboard a train that will take them to their location where they will drop the package off. Things get tricky on the trip and Mike is attacked because he is Mexican. Heather is accused by one of the Patriot Defenders and finally able to smooth it out with a high-ranking member of the PD.
To discover what the package was, why it was so important and how it all worked out in the end, then you need to read this book. It will prepare you for reading "The Surveillance" the next book in the series. It is excellent!
The Package ~ The Infiltrix #1 by Kimberley Troutte. Blurb: PUBLISHER DESCRIPTION In the deadly future after the Second Civil War, the United States is divided and dangerous…
A new author to me and I was pleasantly surprised with this well-written story from Kimberley. The characters work well together and the storyline has suspense, intrigue, spies and some unanswered questions.
Agent Heather Slade is a spy working with a group called Revo, she is beautiful but fake. She also has no country, memory, home, and no family. (or does she?) Heather's mission for this task is to deliver The Package before a certain date and time. Will she complete it on time or not?
The Package ends with a cliffhanger, and can not wait to read the next book. I highly recommend this book to all.
Reasons I enjoyed this book: Easy-to-read, Informative, Page-turner, Realistic, and Wonderful character
An interesting distopian thriller with shades of our own times threaded through. The premise was quite intriguing and I thought the writing style was quite good. The main character, Heather, is a woman desperate to find her daughter in a dangerous world and her journey is fraught with issues. I don’t want to say more lest I give away spoilers. I will say that I found it a compelling read but worried I might have nightmares because of the commonalities to our current state in the USA and the world at large.

A futuristic novel filled with spies, a divided country, a precious package to deliver to the free states. Mayhem and atrocities occur on an opulent train for the wealthy. There is no one to trust except your partner as you travel through the autocratic country. Thriller and chiller. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I loved The Package. A great read, I loved all the characters and the story was thrilling. Miguel and Heather were great together, I could feel their chemistry. An interesting connection that's not fully reveled. Looking forward to reading book #2.
I give The Package 5 stars for its thrilling read. I would recommend this book to everyone.
This is my first book by Kimberly and wow is it ever a fantastic start to a new series. It brings new meaning to the word espionage. Absolutely loved it. Was totally hooked right from the first few pages. Looking forward to the next book in this series very much. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book provided by booksprout.
Wow! This story really makes you think about what things could be like if something like this were to happen. It's full of suspense with twist and turns you don't see coming. I'm looking forward to reading about Heather's next mission.
The Package by Kimberley Troutte Such an intriguing read. So much going on. Love military tactical movements for the sake of the package. Everybody is on board and the teams change from time to time. Love locations, descriptions and especially the new devices and how they work. They come in handy as the package is obtained and they must travel on the exclusive train to get to their destination. There is turmoil as her identity is suspected. Her loss of memory really comes into play. At times she is not sure what is real and what is fake. Can't wait to read more from this author. There is another book in the works. Received this review copy from the publishing company and this is my honest opinion.
The Package The Infiltrix Book one By Kimberley Troutte
OMG what a story and with everything that is happening in the world now you just have to wonder what if??? When Heather Slade is tasked with making sure a package gets to the Free States she doesn't expect to be assigned to a newbie agent and diplomat Miguel Robles. When they boarding the Golden Train it will be full of Patriot Agents she knows it will be dangerous and if the agent she disabled recognizes her both Miguel and Heather will be fighting for their lives.
This book really makes you think What if? and will give you the ride of your life from beginning to the end and then you wonder when is the next book coming out?
Thank you to the author and Booksprout for allowing me to read this fantastic book.
This suspenseful story kept me glued to the pages as the pace of the book moved swiftly. All of the characters are well-crafted, and they grew organically throughout the story. The secondary characters were an integral part of the story as they gave insights into Heather and Miguel;s world that they now live in. Ms. Troutte's descriptive writing made this alternative United States world "real" as Heather and Miguel find themselves to be useful but expendable.
The tension was palpable from page one as Heather and her team infiltrate within the Patriot region and then she continues on in her deep cover persona to deliver "the package". A character driven book that ratcheted up the tension and suspense with each chapter because each mile on the train could bring exposure and death for Heather and Miguel.
I voluntarily read a digital Advance Reader Copy of this book. All of the above opinions are my own.
