This book is a reference guide to interlocking crochet (also known as intermeshing or interlock filet crochet) with 80 stitch patterns.

What I like:
I don't know of any other stitch guide focused on interlocking crochet, so it's mere existence is something I enjoy.

Color photographs show the front and the back of each stitch. The pictures use high contrast yarns so the designs are really clear.

There are many really interesting geometric patterns.

What I don't like (or what's missing):
There is an error in the basic instructions which can make the process quite confusing. (Corrections for the book can be found on the author's web site.)

Most of the stitches are done in the same yarns, which can make looking through the book a bit dull.

There is no pattern difficulty rating.

The binding doesn't lay flat, so it is difficult to crochet and read the pattern at the same time.

There are no stitch symbols, only pattern abbreviations.

The colors used in the finished project patterns didn't much appeal to me.

If you are a crocheter looking for new stitches or to dive deeply into the interlocking crochet technique, you will enjoy this book. It isn't a "must have" for the general crochet collection though.

Challenging technique for experienced crocheters. It could be lovely if you had time to really practice it, but honestly I found it frustrating. I kept trying a basic pattern & kept doing something (different) wrong each time & had to rip it out. So for me, not worth the effort, but if you can master it, this book would be very handy.

Not for Beginners!

You will need to have some basic skills to start. Chain, double crochet, and filet mesh, to start. Once you have crocheted an afghan, and a filet crochet doily, you might be okay to start.

The explanations are not clear- and there is no standard language for this method of crochet. Interlocking Crochet is a trademark name, but I’ve heard it called Locking, or Locked, Filet Mesh, and others.

The very short explanation is, you are working two filet crochet pieces together at once, perhaps if you can understand how you can knit two socks, one inside the other. You always only ever work one color into that same color. Say you’re working with black and white yarn. The black only ever works black, and white stitches work only ever white stitches.

There are now videos, and you should watch them before ever picking up hook and yarn. Otherwise, there may be a mess.

There are pictures, but the kindle version makes it less easy to use. The pictures are too few, and not enough detail. Be very sure to use high contrast yarns, say, black and white, or pastels and very dark colors.
