Ok, so overall this story is really good. I would definitely read the previous book before reading this one as they tie together. But be prepared, this timeline isn't necessarily a straight line. And if things like that confuse you (like they do me sometimes) you might have to go back and reread things just to make sure you understand. With all that being said...it takes a very long time for Rachel and Drest to get their HEA, so be prepared for the wait! The story is drawn out and just made me feel bad for the characters that they weren't allowed to be together and happy because of who their families are. But because it is this author's book-it is still written beautifully and the story is most definitely well written. I just am not sure that this series is one that is for me. I love all the other series by this author, but this one still doesn't always make me want to read it. And I still can't pinpoint exactly why. Other than it doesn't always feel like they are romances, and I apparently need that in my stories! Still a good read and I would recommend for people that like these types of books!

Non-linear timeline
This is the 5th book in the series, and like the previous book, doesn’t really follow a straight line. Once you accept that, the story is interesting and gives you more information about what is happening in Grimm Cove. The two main characters, Rachael Franks (Frankenstein) and Drest Bright are meant to be together, but the road they follow takes a long and convoluted track to get to the end. This book should be read after the first 4 in the series because each is intertwined and will be harder to follow without having read the others. This book is well written, with no grammatical or spelling errors. Other than the way the timeline is handled, I enjoyed reading Book 5 and am looking forward to book 6. I was given an ARC of this book by the author through BookSprout and this is my honest opinion.

This series seems to get better with each new book.
This time it is Drest the detective & Rachael Frankenstein who are not looking to get together but once again fate intervenes. The forces that be are determined that they shouldn’t be but when you find your mate all you can do is fight to be together.
I love all the characters old & new in this series & love touching base with them each time.
I was lucky enough to get an ARC for this fabulous book & it’s an easy five star read for me

“Thunder with a Chance of Lovestruck: A Paranormal Women's Fiction Romance Novel” is the fifth book in the Grimm Cove series and Mandy Roth continues to give us a stand alone story filled with everything one wishes to have in a story. There is suspense, fear, magic, death, supernaturals, twists and turns on every page!!
Detective Drest Bright is a Fae Hunter, of the Nightshade clan, one of a group of Supernaturals who protect humans and magic users. His new case is with a family he has been watching for years, the Frankenstein family. The families do NOT get along but Drest is required to meet with them on a regular basis. On one of these visits he meets the daughter, Rachael Frankenstein who is a young woman attending a University. He realizes she is his fated mate! Their relationship is passionate and electric! Of course, a relationship is strictly forbidden by both the Nightshades and her family. Will they find a way to be together? Will they defy their families?
Fighting Monsters, searching for a way to be together - the journey takes them years to be finally get together and find their Happy Every After. This bothered me, I felt badly for Drest and Rachael, it just didn’t feel right that they should be parted and feeling incomplete for so many, many years……
One never knows what will happen next and every time you think you figured it out you turn the page to find more mystery! The romance between Drest and Rachael is told beautifully by our very talented and exceptional writer Mandy Roth. Another well written and amazing story and you can’t put down from page one!

Second Chance Romance and Body Parts

In the previous book 'Starry' we got the story of Stratton and his mate Astria, from their first meeting when she was a toddler of four until the 'present'.
All of the stories revolve around the mystic town of Grimm Cove and a group of midlife women with powers who kick arse.
I'd highly recommend reading Starry before reading this one to heighten enjoyment.
This time we see events from the POV of Fae Drest from the Nightshade clan and Rachel, one of the infamous Frankensteins.
Yes, those Frankensteins who Mary Shelley made famous.
Drest is assigned to be guardian of that family after ancestor Victor created a monster from body parts.
This starts in the eighties with Rachel as a young woman at university visiting home and meeting Drest for the first time, the exact moment the action kicks off in Starry with Niles.
Rachel and Drest are instantly connected, the chemistry sizzling between them. You might even call it electric.
Told over thirty six years, we read the tragic events through the eyes of both main protagonists.
Romance, villainy, death, monsters, magic and sex. It's all in here and given the gap between books it helps centre us right into the world of Grimm Cove and the interconnected lives of the powerful women destined to live there.
This is wonderful stuff and incredibly well researched as Roth blends lots of legends and famous characters such as the Van Helsings together.
A great second chance love story.

Good grief - talk about a long wait for a HEA! Drest and Rachael's love story takes place over almost 4 decades!!!!

Drest hates stomping all over the Frankenstein family. He knows that they are not all bonkers like Victor. The advantage of the gig is meeting Rachael. The beauty shines like a beacon and he's entranced. They burn fast and hot but have to live under the radar due to his job and the restrictions of the Nightshade Fae.

But just as things change and Drest & Rachael could finally be together they are blown apart again - literally!

Rachael and Drest's love is one for the history books. There are misunderstandings on both sides, fickle and interfering families and the supernatural equivalent of WitSec all do their level best to tear them apart by Rachael and Drest finally get to be in the same place at the same time.

Rachael is strong emotionally and mentally to take on all that she did. She raised her daughter and niece the best she could and has been haunted by loss since their little family was broken apart. She lives an unusual and unrepentant life.

There are cameos by our favourite Grimm Cove residents and a few new ones. The story is fraught with tension but the humour is also there. Especially in the overreactions by all those supernatural and overprotective males!

This is a follow on from book four of the Grimm Cove series "Starry with a Chance of Nightshade.
We first met Stratton and Bright in that book, which was Statton's POV when on his journeying meeting his mate, and now this is our chance to find out what happened to Detective Bright and Rachael Frankenstein with Brights pov.

know I say this every time I read a book of Mandy M Roth's, but this series just keeps getting better.

This has me riveted to my seat. I loved revisiting this Grimm Cove story and reading about the torturous and heart breaking story of Detective Bright and his newest charge Rachael from the Frankinstein family.

Believe me when I say your gonna want to take a quiet afternoon with a big box of tissues, the front door locked and phone off the hook. You are gonna be going on one helluva rollercoaster ride with these two, as we travel together on the long road with them through the best and worst moments of their journey of love.

You must read this series in order of written, just so you don't get any spoliers. I truly reccomend the Grimm Cove series to anyone. It's pretty clean, funny as he'll which WILL have you laughing out aloud. If I could I would give more than the five stars allowed.

It's Drest's turn to fall madly in love and have some very terrible things keep him from his lady-love and I AM HERE FOR IT. Seriously, these two have a rough go of things and it takes them a long time to find one another after circumstances fling them apart. A long time.

But Grimm Cove has a way of drawing the right people to it at the right time and Drest and Rachael end up where they need to be. Eventually.

Before that, however, they have the type of forbidden love that is frowned upon by Drest's higher-ups. And then there's the whole thing that happened with Rachael's family. Basically, it's messy and complicated and Drest didn't necessarily make the best choices when it came to their relationship, but he (and Rachael and their kiddo) paid an excessive amount for said forbidden love.

In other words, their relationship had a lot of ups and downs and a really big pause that gutted both of them. Yet they ended up finding one another again and defeating some bad guys and THINGS WERE GOOD.

I'm really enjoying the Frankenstein (and related family) arc and the wealth of possibilities opening up in Grimm Cove. *thumbs up*

I have been waiting for the continuation of Drest & Rachel’s story and Mandy did not disappoint!

This story tells more about the Nightshade Clan and their relationship with the Frankenstein family.

We see some familiar faces from the Grimm Cove world! I love when other characters in the Grimm Cove series make appearances! I have grown attached to the characters and their companions.

Drest never expected to find his mate. Rachael never expected to find love. But when fate gets involved you never know what to expect. Now if t hff ey can just survive.
Thunder With a Chance of Lovestruck is the latest in Mandy M. Roth's Grimm Cove series. I enjoyed returning to this world Ms. Roth created. It is best read in order as it overlaps the previous story.
I enjoyed seeing Drest and Rachael's journey. The past the worked overtime in keeping them separated. I love seeing Drest struggle with his emotions and his duty. I wanted so much for him to find what was stolen from him. I wanted him to have hope. Rachael's struggle was just as compelling. She was forced to be stronger than even she knew. I love seeing her move past her fears and make a stand. But can she accept Drest once he returns. Can she move past the hurt and accept the love? I thoroughly enjoyed finding out.

Thunder with a Chance of Lovestruck is the 5th book in this wonderfully delightful series.
Got to say I was a bit confused at first I felt like I read this before....but after reading more things changed and it became its own story.
First of all when reading a series one most start at book one and with this series I highly recommend it....Secondly every book ties in with the last so it's like watching a show there's always a recap.
When Drest Bright is given a job and a new charge the last thing he thought was to find his mate in the most unlikely places or persons. Rachel was on a trip Home when her life changes forever it was both the best thing and worst thing to happen to her. In a split second she found love only to end up on the run and have it all come crashing down all over again years later. But there is always hope love comes back to find you in the most unlikely places at the most unlikely of times.

Time means nothing with true love

It is difficult, if not impossible, not to be immensely sad about what happens to Rachael and Drest, but also hopeful that they might find each other again, someday. After all, true mates should always find each other, right?

It is also difficult, if not impossible, not to be head over heels in awe of Mandy M. Roth’s skill of telling a story in four times, every time filled with action, frustration, lust, love, and everything that makes Rachael’s and Drest’s story one that will be impossible to forget, and not only because of the bad guys. Their love is one that is, literally, standing the test of time.

As the warning says, it is preferable to read Starry With a Chance of Nightshade prior to this one, because the action of Thunder comes back on events that happened in Starry, and gives another perspective (and answers) to what happened then.

A perfect completion to an unforgettable arc of the Grimm Cove series.

This was some an emotional read, one man's journey that spans almost four decades to reclaim his lost mate and child. How strong his love is is a testament to truly appreciate the term soul mates . Destined to be together Drest never gave up searching for Rachel. All the unimaginable creatures that get in his way just made him stronger.

Rachel assumed that what Drest had told her all those years ago were false. She tried to move on with her life with her daughter and niece, but the Frankenstein name always prevented her. Always running, from her uncle and the creatures he created. His twisted mind wanting her for such a perverse and horrific purpose. Eventually she settles in Grimm Cove.
Drest now in Grimm Cove too is able to put the pieces together with the help of his niece. He finally comes face to face with Rachel and his daughter.

Thunder With a Chance of Lovestruck: A Paranormal Women’s Fiction Romance Novel (Grimm Cove 5) - Mandy Roth

This is Rachel’s story which ties into the Frankenstein family and its debacles, and it runs parallel to Astria’s story (Starry with a Chance of Nightshade). The books need to be read in order as the stories coincide, cross over and characters from both books are tightly related.
The story does not follow a straight line as there is a painful separation between fated mates as well as some other heart pulling events and situations. They all tie in wonderfully in the HEA and involve wonderful fae, legendary characters such as famous vampire families, a funny somewhat endearing and protective shape shifting demon ,Torrid, Robin Goodfellow (Puck) and a whole cast of imaginative and creative characters. The intertwining storylines, background reveals , auction, romance (h@t)that make these page turning , exciting books to get lost in ane enjoy.

Thunder with a Chance of LovestruckThis is such an amazing series, one I would absolutely read over and over again.
Drest Bright is a Fae Hunter, one of a group of Supernaturals who protect humans and magic users. His new case is with a family he has been watching for years, the Frankenstein family. He quickly realizes that the daughter, Rachael, is his fated mate.
Of course a relationship between them is strictly forbidden.
It takes them years to be together, lots of history, both good and bad.
A story full of love, laughter and heartache. A story that I hope you love as much as I do.

Once again we return to Grimm Cove and the wonderful characters from the past. Drest has been following the Frankenstein family for years but he never thought he would find love, but he did but with the most unexpected person. Rachel never believed in love but these two find love even though it is forbidden and it will take years and many ups and downs to make. This wasn’t an easy or fast HEA but it was worth it. You will need to read the previous story to get a good feel about the background story between Drest and Rachel and why Rachel acts the way she does. This is a wonderful return to the series and I was glad these two got their HEA after all this time.

I'm So In Love!!!

I'm so in love with this book and series, I don't think I can do it justice with my review!
Some write such eloquent reviews ...but that's not typically me. So I'll just be as honest and down to earth as I can.
Thunder with a Chance of Lovestruck (Grimm Cove Book 5) was another perfect book in this series. I loved that this filled in all the blanks we had regarding Drest and Rachael. It was great getting to see different perspectives of events that had happened in the last book being Stratton and Astria's story. And as always it's so much fun getting to reconnect with all of our Grimm Cove favorites!
Mandy M. Roth you're amazing and thank you so much for your books!!!! ❤️❤️❤️

FINALLY! After more than 3 decades Drest and Rachel get their HEA. I freaking loved it and did not put it down. This book begins in the past and jumps through different times. Hold on to your seat because it gets rocky. Their relationship and love was forbidden by the Fae, however that cannot stop fate from making them mates. Oh the higher ups can put all kinds of blocks on them to keep them apart but in the end love finds a way. Drest has spent every moment looking for his wife and child. There had been one road block after another. Rachel believes he deserted her. When they finally meet again... explosive. When Drest meets his daughter for the first time...have tissue handy.

This series just keeps getting better and I am ready for the next.

Our time will come
I was reluctant to start this book because I just knew it was going to make me cry. And I was not disappointed. The author brought so many tears to my eyes throughout the story. Happy tears, sad tears, angry tears, laughing tears and so many more were wrung from me as I felt the emotional turmoil these two had to overcome before they reached their HEA. I loved getting to see the back story of how these two met and how they were ripped apart. They were just as amazing as I had hoped they would be from the glimpses we saw in the previous book, and I couldn’t wait for them to be together again. This book was everything I had hoped for and so much more that I didn’t even know I wanted to read about. I can’t wait to see what happens next!

True to form, this book from Mandy Roth with have you laughing, crying, and wanting more. There is a lot of backstory to this book - - much of it is hinted on in the earlier books of the series. If you like details and behind the scenes, you will definitely enjoy that part. I struggled with it a bit, as you essentially know what is coming for the beginning portion, you're just waiting for each to get there and learning the details (I'm not always good with waiting through details!) I loved how she tied it all together - - I think she is a master at that! You never quite know how it is all going to end, other than HEA!.

Grimm Cove for the win!
Would I recommend this book as a total standalone? Nope. When the author recommends you read the previous book, Starry with a Chance of Nightshade, just do it. Not only will you have a better understanding of what is going on, but you'll really be able to appreciate the skill of the author in weaving the two stories together through a timeline.

I really felt for Drest and Rachael in the first novel. Those feels were really brought home in Thunder with a Chance of Lovestruck. These fated mates have been tortured with separation for thirty-six long years, yet the love is still as strong as ever.

Grimm Cove is such a unique place and while this is a Grimm Cover Novel the majority of it doesn’t take place in the city. We have seen snippets of this story from Astrias point of view but this is Racheals point of view and it brings the feels. Seriously bawled like a baby while reading this book. My heart goes out for Drest and Racheal because their journey is one for the history books. So much happens and takes all your emotions and twists them up. A wonderfully heart wrenching read with sprinkles of humor and amazing lore mixed it. I love seeing the originals pop up in the newer books too! Fantastic and highly recommend the entire series!

Drest & Rachel

The infamous and famous monsters and relatives try to live down or just live their lives. The Frankenstein family, they've been dealing with the controlling agency since their ancestor's huge mistakes. When the overseeror falls for the overseen there could be (and are) issues.

Will they finally find a way to be together? I love the historical characters as well as the challenges. Friends, co-workers/PNR authorities, are the powers that be going to intervene? So much going on. So many surprises. I dare you to even try to put it down. Such a good book but then Mandy Roth wrote it, I expect nothing less.

This is NOTa stand alone read. Make sure you read the other installments first. This was a page turner! I read this book in 2 sittings because it was so hard to put down. Many of the questions from previous books in this series were answered in this installment. Drest, Rachael, Astrid, Stratton and Demi all deserved their HEAs. The coming together of the resides of Grimm Cove again to protect one of its own was wonderful. Additionally, how this book brought together events from previous books showed what a talented author Mandy Roth is.

If you love a story with suspense, ups and downs, forbidden love, heartache, anger and laughter you’ve come to the right book.
To get the most out of this book I recommend you read Starry with a Chance of Nightshade first, if you want the absolute out of this book, read the entire Grimm Cove series……brilliant. So many plots and twists to keep them apart, but love like this is tougher than obstacles. I couldn’t put it down, this book answered a lot of questions that rose out of the last book and opened up a bunch of new questions…..bring on the next one!!.

While I enjoyed the story, I found it was a little harder to get into. Maybe that was part of the issue, was that I knew going in that there would be a long gap till the HEA. And while the other books had a past part to the timeline, this one felt espeically so, and I didn't jive with that as well. This book also felt like there was info missing. We really didn't get to see/know the why's of one of the bad guys, nor was there resolution to some of the conflict (to say it without spoilers). That being said, I enjoyed this story, though it was a bit more darker and less humourous then previous books. I do recommend reading the previous books in the series. Overall, a good story.

Another amazing Grimm Cove novel.
I absolutely love the way that each book continues on from each other.
I was captivated from the very first chapter right to the very end, desperately wishing to read faster but also not wanting the book to ever end.
Drest and Rachael’s relationship meant one disaster after another kept them apart. This story takes you on a roller coaster ride of their lives together and apart.
At times an action packed, emotionally moving read with lovable characters which I highly recommend.

What a great story! We got introduced to the characters and part of the storyline in the previous book, but we get all the answers to our questions in Drest and Rachael's story. We get our very own ghost and goblin for All Hallows Eve, and Torid needs a story of his own. It's difficult to say much more without giving away the story, so I'll just say that whether you like cozy mysteries, drama or romance, Thunder with a Chance of Lovestruck is one you need to read.

Can you get a 2nd chance at love 36 years later? Drest broke every rule imaginable when he fell in love with Rachel, it didn't matter that she was his mate. Yet time and again they were forced apart, can she forgive him and let him into her life once again after so much time has passed? Rachael still loves Drest but how many times can you let someone rip your heart apart and still let them back into your life. Add in her crazy (literally) family and what they are putting through. This latest addition to the Grimm Cove series is fantastic! I loved everything about the story.

Drest and Racael's story was winding and complicated with fate intervening to block them for ages. The book is set in the same timeframe as the previous one and is just told from a differing point of view. This of course leads to a significant part of the story having a familiar feel to it and the plot does not become its own tale until later in the book.
As ever, the story is written with great characters and a smooth flowing storyline. Overall, a great story.
