A vacation "in country" in the country in a country. Let me leave it at that. This is a revised edition. Corrected for typos etc. I still would rather not describe the story line beyond the teaser above. But, it is worth a read. Let me know if you like it.
This is really interesting premise. Guy goes on a "vacation" where he is given a strict set of rules to follow (as are the others at same "resort"). If rules were broken a person was evicted from vacation.
The tale is told from one guy's POV as he meanders through the days watching the others as the number dwindles. When a certain day comes, the vacation turns to a quid pro quo. There is a "graduation" mission that was oddly and conveniently figured out and altered that was just out of blue. With the major security at the vacation spot and the preplanning necessary - not to mention the candidate selection process - it seems unlikely that a novice like this guy would get the better of such organization that planned the vacation.
I really think the premise was interesting - but the contrived ending kind of ruined it and I reduced a star for such.
After a kind of as low start, the book roars to a totally unexpected end. A unexpected, happy ending. Despite his difficulties, the hero (?) manages to be heroic, sort of. Depending entirely on how you define hero.
