When up-and-coming lawyer Evie Davis travels halfway across the country to deliver her old friend’s baby girl to the oblivious father, the last thing she expects is an encounter with a rugged Montana cowboy. One who convincingly insists he’s not the father. The second last thing she expects is to have her heart flutter in gratitude at that proclamation. A loner by nature and nurture, Evie isn’t looking for a relationship or even a fling, but as she waits for word on the potential father’s whereabouts, she’s tempted.
As oldest of the Halligan brood, JD Halligan has his hands full running the sprawling family ranch. So, when a beautiful Californian lawyer turns up on his doorstep with a baby she claims is his, it flips his world. He’s definitely not this baby’s father, but can’t ignore the cuteness overload, especially baby Mia’s carer, Evie Davis. Trouble is, he fell for a career-minded city girl once before and that ended in disaster, so he’s not prepared to go there again. But as he opens his home to the new arrivals, sweet baby Mia isn’t the only one winning her way into his heart.
This is the most gorgeous story wow my heart burst with all of the emotions running through this one, Kaz Delaney is a must read author for me and there is a reason she brings out so much in her characters makes them real you feel their happiness and hurt as you turn the pages of her stories, come along and get to know Evie, JD and baby Mia.
What happens when San Francisco lawyer Evie Davis gets a call from the only friend she had as a child and has not seen for many, many years she runs to her and takes on a six month old baby Mia to deliver her to her father JD Halligan, her search takes her to Marietta, Montana. Their first meeting will have you smiling, Evie never expected to find her heart jumping around are all of the cowboys like this around here, Evie is not looking for love, work is her life but when she ends up spending time here could things change?
JD is the eldest of the Halligans he has two brothers and when the gorgeous lawyer arrives on his doorstep when he is so tired and says this is his baby he is stunned because he is not the father but he also sees that this baby is a Halligan. He needs to work out who is the father and keep Evie here till that is done and the time spent opens his heart again to perhaps love after his last break-up a city girl was not what he was looking for but Evie is different , he is sure.
I loved this one so very much from start to finish, it is filled with so many emotions I cried, I laughed and I smiled as I cheered Evie and JD on while turning the pages on this beautiful romance they make the best couple and of course Mia is a gorgeous baby, did she play matchmaker?
I do highly recommend this one to any lover of a good romance and the setting Marietta the best and I can’ wait for book two.
My thanks to Tule Publishing for my digital copy to read and review.
The Cowboy’s Baby Surprise ~The Halligans of Montana #1 by Kaz Delaney
A new author for me, and I thoroughly recommend this book, and I couldn't stop reading it, I was hooked from the very first page. The storyline, characters and world-building blend into a very satisfying whole.
The Cowboy's Baby Surprise is written in such a way it is credible and interesting to read. All the characters blended well in the story to the extent I wanted to read. I am looking forward to the next in the series, and I highly recommend this book to all.
Reasons I enjoyed this book: Easy-to-read, Entertaining, Happily Ever After, Informative, Inspirational, Page-turner, Romantic, Realistic, and Wonderful characters
Wow! This is the first book of a new series. Halligan’s of Montana. This is definitely a five star read.!
When Hope finds out she has breast cancer and the outcome is not gonna be good. She calls on a long lost friend Evie, to take her daughter to her daddy. Hope and Evie have not seen each other in many years. They had a very short friendship when they were young and living together in a foster home. But they never forgot each other. Hope new the best choice for her daughter was Evie. She knew that Evie would not let her daughter Mia go through what they did. Evie packed up Mia along with a moving truck full of baby paraphernalia, and headed to Marietta.
When she reaches the ranch, there’s a big misunderstanding. She’s looking for JD. Halligan. Little does she realize that all the boys initials are JD. So the first one she runs into, ends up not being Mia’s daddy. So now, Evie has to hang around until the real daddy shows up. And while they’re waiting for Leo, Mia‘s daddy, JD and Evie are living like a little family. Falling more deeply for each other.
This is a very heartwarming story of tragedy and loss, but family love prevails.
Thank you Tule publishing and Kaz Delaney for this ARC in return for my address review.
The Cowboy’s Baby Surprise is the first book in Kaz Delaney’s terrific new series, The Halligaans of Montana. We are introduced to all 3 of the Halligan brothers in this book. The featured one is JD Halligan, the oldest and the one who lives and runs the family ranch outside of Marietta, Montana. As the book opens, a woman arrives with a baby and a truckload of baby gear. We are introduced to Evie Davis who has traveled from San Francisco to deliver baby Mia to her father, JD Halligan. Evie had received a call from an old childhood friend, Hope who had been diagnosed with breast cancer. She hadn’t seen Hope since they were 10 years old. She had a new baby and she wanted Evie to help by taking her to her father on their ranch. When Evie tells JD about the baby, he tells her there’s no way he’s the father. It had to be one of his brothers, also with initials JD.
JD asks Evie to stay and help care for Mia with him until his brother Leo can be located. Evie is a successful attorney in the city with no baby or ranch experience. The two learn together how to take care of Mia. In the process the two become very attracted to the other. They start sharing about their tragic pasts and wonder if they could somehow make a relationship work. Evie is loving the ranch and magnificent views. She grew up in the system and has trust issues. Both wonder what will happen when Leo is found and claims his daughter.
This is a heartwarming story of love between JD and Evie. The story of JD’s past with his ex fiance is very sad. It is heartbreaking to hear about Evie and Hope’s past. Kaz has brought us a wonderful new family to read about and love. I can’t wait to read the stories of each of the other Halligan siblings. Everyone we met was genuine and very likable. This is a five star book I highly recommend.
I was fortunate to receive an ARC from Tule Publishing in exchange for my honest review.
Story follows Evie who is a lawyer but also now taking care of her friends infant daughter Mia. Evie has to locate the father and deliver the baby and supplies to him. Hope is going through breast cancer and at times she's doing well, other times NOT so well at all. Evie heads out to the ranch where JD lives and just shows up one day. Well she had left a message with the voice recorder but how was she to know nobody checked that phone? JD sees the delivery truck and then the woman with the baby. He's not slept in days, they are 4 men short on the ranch and so much has to be done. She follows him into the house and she did find JD there, but is he the right one as he tells her how the parents named all the siblings JD, each with a different meaning. He declares he is not he father at all. She spends the night and is able to get a few hours’ sleep til the morning. She had studied you tube podcasts how to tend to a newborn. She does all she can loving the child. Things don't go according to plan, she only wanted to stay 2 days. A call and made and nobody can contact the youngest JD who they think is the father. Her and JD, Justin tend to the baby while he also works at the ranch. He shows them around some and they grow close to one another. The local busybodies show up and tongues will be wagging... He has a thing for her and her for him, but is it only if they get to keep and raise the child or did he want her for herself with no baby.... SO many secrets and twists and turns. Great story. Received this review copy from Tule Publishing and this is my honest opinion.
When lawyer Evie Davis, agrees to wishes from a dying friend to take her baby girl to her daddy in Marietta Montana, she doesn't know that there could be more than one Halligan man who could be little Mia's father. She is staying until she can know who the real daddy is. JD Halligan whom she meets on her first day, says he is not the father. It could be one of his two brothers or even a cousin. What Evie did not foresee was this magnetic attraction to JD Halligan. But she will fight it with everything she has, because baby Mia is her first priority.
JD Halligan is surprised by this amazing beautiful women and her claims that he is the baby's father. He is juggling the ranch and family affairs and he knows he is not the baby's daddy, but he is getting attached to sweet little baby Mia and so very attracted to Evie Davis. While they figure out who the real baby daddy is, they have to figure out how to keep from giving in to this attraction they have for each other, because neither one of them wants anything permanent. This book is a sweet mixture of a cute baby bringing everyone together and the spicy attraction that Evie and JD have to contend with while they figure little Mia's future out. I love the interaction between Evie and the rest of the males in the Halligan family and I especially love Nan who is the family friend that keeps coming up with ways for these two to be together.
A sweet sexy romance to read on a hot summer day or any other day. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Evie aka Evelyn is an attorney in San Francisco who has taken a few days off to take a infant about 6 months, named Mia Halligan, who mother, Hope, was her friend at age 10, in foster care. Hope had breast cancer and wanted Evie to take Mia to her father in possibly Marietta, Montana. Mia's dad is named JD Halligan. Evie researched and found the name, address and landline phone number. Evie had left a answering machine already with no response. She was taking Mia to him; she ordered for delivery to his ranch everything she thought that he would need after watching 13.5 hours of YouTube videos about having an infant in the house. Image JD's surprise when a delivery is at his house after been gone for over a day trying to get fences fixed after a storm so that he can have the cattle moved from the summer pastures down to pastures near the main house. Plus he had lose 4 men when it was discovered that they were really rustlers. What was JD's reaction when the delivery driver starts unloading baby items from crib, playpen, diapers, etc. Confusion!! Then Evie and Mia step around the truck; big SURPRISE? Evie gets surprise when he says that baby isn't His? Actually 5 people in Marietta, MT with the same name? So starts the hunt for the right person. Along the hunt, feelings develop. Where will they lead?.

This was a delightful story that not only introduced this reader to a new series, but also to a “new” author. Evie Davis is a young lawyer working in San Francisco at a prestigious law firm. One where she’s about to get a promotion. All that comes to a stop when a friend from her time in foster care asks for her help. Her friend Hope is ill and needs Evie to take her 6 month old baby girl to Montana and deliver her to her unsuspecting father. Torn but determined not to abandon either the baby or her friend’s wishes, Evie tracks the Halligan ranch and the man she assumed was the baby’s father. Only to discover that he’s not Mia’s dad but her uncle. Making matters even more confusing, is how attracted to him she feels. But she’s career minded, and he’s already been hurt by a city gal. What follows is a story filled with touching moments, at times heart wrenching, self discovery, a realizations that sometimes trusting the heart is worth the risk and finding love when one least expects it. This reader is already looking forward to the next book in the series. I was entrusted a copy of this book by Tule Publishing. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
A wonderful, emotional cowboy read set near the majestic Copper Mountain and Marietta, MT. Fell in love with it already much the same as I'd imagine Evie did as she pulled up to deliver Mia, a baby whose daddy was named as JD Halligan. Finding out JD is a rather broad term for all the JD Halligans there are, Evie has to stay until it's all settled and safe for little Mia to live with her daddy whoever he may be. She didn't expect to fall in love with JD Halligan herself. Plans often do go awry, as she finds out. JD shows her true cowboy hospitality, inviting her to stay with him while she's there. He also had no plans to fall for a citified woman, been there done that, never again. A joy to read while everything falls into place. There's the small town vibe going on here, along with a close knit family dynamic, all which is totally foreign to Evie. She's had a rough time throughout her whole life so it's hard for her to trust, period. An HEA for these two and a stand alone read, I'm happy to report. However there are several more JDs who have their stories to tell, and I need to know, so on to the next JD.
If you’re after a book with all the feels, The Cowboy’s Baby Surprise ticks those boxes. Packed with everything from sadness to joy, lust to love, that wonderful bond that close families enjoy so effortlessly and the uncertainty of a child going from one foster home to another, this stiry had me smiling, laughing and reaching for tissues at different stages in the reading journey. The characters are all wonderful, though it is lawyer Evelyn Davis and rancher JD Halligan who are front and centre. They’re both such warm, relateable people, each with a strong sense of responsibility, duty and love for their nearest and dearest. Oh, and JD is one hunk of a man, as Evie discovers very early on in the book. Mind you, baby Mia nearly steals the show a few times too. I loved watching Evie and JD growing to love mer more and more. I’m pretty sure this book is the start of a trilogy and I certainly hope that’s the case because I couldn’t put it down.
Evie had her life and career planned out when her long lost seriously ill friend asked her to bring her baby Mia to her father. I cried for Hope loving her baby but knowing she would have the best chance of a good life she never had with her father and his family. It was pretty funny when Evie showed up with Mia at the same time the delivery driver with all the baby gear she ordered and JD thought his brothers were pulling a prank since mathematically Mia couldn’t be his child. Evie seemed like she was overworked and under appreciated but she worked hard and overcame so much to become a lawyer so I was hoping she would consider something more fulfilling for her degree. She and JD have a whirlwind relationship but secrets and the past come between them. Little Mia was adorable and stole both their hearts. I loved his brothers and I’m looking forward to their stories.
The Cowboys Baby Surprise by Kaz Delaney is a heartwarming baby surprise story. The first in the new Halligans of Montana Series, this was such a fun and sad read. It is much little Mia’ uncle story as it is her parents’ story. The banter between friend, Evie and Uncle JD is part of what makes this a great story. I had hopes for little Mia’s parents, but you will have to read this book to see how all of that concludes.
The story of foster children and her dreams of a family is heartbreaking and yet hopeful too. The Halligans are the kind of people that all children should have in their lives, so the contrast is crystal clear. Sometimes I laughed as reading this story of the hunt for the father, but sometimes there were tears. A great first book introducing the Halligans, now looking forward to seeing more of them in the next book.
This is a new to me author and I was not disappointed. I really liked Evie, she put her life on hold to do something for a friend! Evie had a big heart and a bigger goal of getting and making sure Mia had the best life ever. JD man he was fun to read. He seemed to read Evie like and open book and want to push her buttons but at he peeled back the layers he discovered he liked to push the boundaries even more. I love that Cody and Jack gave JD a hard time and made sure to keep him on his toes. Overall while there were parts of this book that were heartbreaking there were other parts that showed that there is good in the world, even in a fiction world. There is strong sexual undertones but overall this was a fun book to read and I can't wait for more.
The Cowboy’s Baby Surprise is the first story in The Halligans of Montana series. The Cowboy’s Baby Surprise follows the story of Evie and JD. I absolutely couldn’t get enough of Evie and JD’s incredible story, I thought it was exceptionally well-written. Author Kaz Delaney does an incredible job with the way she wrote The Cowboy’s Baby Surprise, her storytelling skills is absolutely outstanding. The Cowboy’s Baby Surprise is entertaining, interesting, and overall enjoyable to read. I’m not gonna give out any details about this book because I don’t want to give out any spoilers. I would most certainly recommend this book to anyone.

Evie travels from California to Montana to deliver her dying friend's baby to her baby daddy. She is not looking forward to surprising the man on his ranch with a baby girl he does not know about, When Evie shows up acting every bit the lawyer she is, JD Halllian is attracted to her. She demands that he take responsibility for his child. Problem is... it's not his child. She decides to wait at the ranch until they can get a hold of his youngest brother Leo. In that time Evie she's what a good man JD really is. How gentle and kind he is with his niece. Evie feels the pull toward motherhood that she never expected. Can they have a relationship once the baby is no longer their responsibility? Could Evie give up her career in California? Would JD ever leave the ranch? Who knew someone else's surprise baby could change the dreams of so many people.... Good read.
I found this story with the right amount of sweetness and sadness. My heart ached for Hope and what she was facing. Then you add her best friend from 20 years ago and you find out the big heart the h has.
There is plenty of humor, especially at the beginning with the MC's first meet. I enjoyed how the layers were peeled away to discover who Mia's father was. The ending how Mia's father described what happened to Hope and the picture was a tearful moment.
Great banter, likable main and secondary character's, HEA, romantic, bedroom door closed, no cheating and no cliffhanger.
I can't improve on the blurb, just giving you extra tidbits to decide whether to purchase or not. I do recommend this story. (ljb)
Evie grew up in the foster homes. At the age of ten, she and Hope were placed in the same home and became close as sisters. Then they were pulled back apart less then a year later. Suddenly, twenty years later, Evie is called to the hospital to be by Hope's side. Hope asks her to find JD Halligan, the father of her 6 month old daughter, and care for Mia until then.
Very good story. Pulls at the heartstrings for Evie's upbringing, Hope's cancer, and Mia's future. JD and Evie both learn the power of love and family.

Evie is a lawyer, her best friend is very ill and asks her to take her baby girl to her father. She arrives in Montana and confronts JD, but he knows he's not the father of Mia, however he has two brothers, who could be the father. He's very attracted to Evie and aims to keep her there to help him with Mia as his parents and the housekeeper are away. He's trying to run the ranch on his own and minding a baby isn't easy. Evie is immensely attracted to JD but isn't sure about life on the ranch.

Sweet baby Mia may be an unsuspecting conduit to romance if the adults in the room could quit being adults. Asked to find Mia’s father by her ailing friend, Evie and Mia travel to Montana to find JD Halloran. They find out that there are three JD Halligan brothers. Anyone of them could be the father. It is the oldest Halligan brother that meets Evie first and he is the one that makes Evie come alive in this sweet story. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The Cowboys Baby Surprise is a sweet, heartwarming and entertaining read. From the first chapter I was drawn into the story. The author did an incredible job weaving heartbreak and happiness into a storyline that will keep you glued to your kindle until the end. Then she leaves you with that feeling of wanting more. I cannot wait for book 2! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This one almost break my heart. I was bowling my eyes out. So be prepared, I wasn’t. Great storyline line, wonderful characters. This is romance with twists. The relationships, the families , all things worked in very interesting, engaging and emotional story. But you will smile ,too.

This one was such a great read. Evie, JD and baby Mia are thrown together when Evie travels to Marietta searching for Mia’s father to deliver the baby to the unsuspecting father. This story was full of emotions and I couldn’t put it down! A great first story in Kaz’s The Halligans of Montana series and I am excited to read more!
I enjoyed this book from beginning to end, the plot has everything to give you a very good reading. JD and Evie met in the least expected way, between the two the attraction was quickly given. Although the situation they were living in was complicated, feelings arose between them and I loved that the two of them put everything aside and could be together. Some parts of this book broke my heart but I look forward to the following stories.
Thinking that she was delivering her friend's baby to the father, Evie got a surprise when JD said little Mia couldn't be his. While they wait for the right brother to come home they cared for Mia and became friends and more. I enjoyed getting to know Mia and her struggles growing up. The Halligan family sound pretty interesting I look forward to meeting more of them.
Nice start to a new series. I look forward to reading more about the Halligans, their friends, and significant others. Sweet story with many misty moments. Thanks to Booksprout for providing a copy. My review is voluntary.
Sweet and spicy collide to create perfection. Delaney puts the heart on full display with irresistible characters, never-ending emotion and unforgettable romance. Evie and JD are the kind of heartache you can't put down and would gladly revisit again and again.
Kaz Delaney was a fabulous author and a friend to all she met. She is truly missed in the romance community. It does not surprise me that this romance is full of her trademark warmth and love. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
What a deep and emotional story, tears ,laughter and love.
This starts with you getting to see a best friend taking on the duty of finding a baby's daddy. The emotional connection between two friends and locating the baby's daddy truly is very involved. A great book to recommend.
J.D. AND EVIE MEET AND RIGHT AWAY THEY STARTED FIGHTING THEIR FEELINGS. IT WAS SO OBVIOUS TO EVERYONE THAT THEY HAD FEELINGS FOR EACH OTHER. MOST OF THE BOOK WAS SPENT WITH THEM FIGHTING A LOSING BATTLE AND A CUTE BABY MOMENTS. A TAD BORING AT TIMES . . . . A LOT OF TIMES. ;<
3.5 bumped to 4. In some ways, this is the typical surprise baby trope, but there are some definite twists. You will enjoy getting to know every single one of these characters. I will be visiting Marietta, Montana, again to see what is going on with the Halligans. Count on it!
