In Breaking Free, the author Farhan Kardame guides us to transform our dull, passive, and purposeless lives into healthy, happy, and thriving ones.

Following is a summary of the book.

All of us are subjected to societal pressure from a young age, which continues into adulthood and seems never to end. We are not free to make our own career choices. We live in constant fear of losing our jobs in the toxic corporate environment. Dissatisfied with our jobs, we continue to live without purpose or enthusiasm. This state of constant fear and anxiety has serious implications for our physical and mental health.

We tend to pick up several poor habits, like wasting our time recklessly on unnecessary distractions. We should have clear priorities to manage our time effectively. There is a lack of awareness regarding financial literacy. Warren Buffet's words of wisdom emphasize the importance of saving: "Do not save what is left after spending but spend what is left after saving."

Einstein says, "Everybody is a genius. But if we judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid." We are constantly compared to others due to societal norms. These futile comparisons are a major cause of our limiting beliefs.

What is vision? A vision serves as a gardener's plan, the master design that brings order to the wilderness and gives our lives direction. We often follow someone else's vision instead of our own. Kardame recommends breaking down our vision into actionable components. To explain this concept, he presents a beautiful analogy: life is a novel, vision is the plot, long-term goals are the chapters, and short-term goals are the paragraphs. Each paragraph builds the story gradually towards its climax. We play different roles in our life, each important, and we cannot afford to ignore any role. Most of us tend to ignore the role we need to play for our family. As we all know, a chain is as strong as its weakest link. Finally, "Every vision must have a path illuminated by measurable outcomes." All great leaders from the past had vision, and there are consequences if we do not have one.

Ritesh Agarwal, who presented a new business model of affordable quality accommodation to travelers, failed many times initially but learned from his failures and eventually succeeded. I found one of the author’s pieces of advice extremely useful, which I'll implement in my life. He says, do not avoid any activity altogether. For example, walking; if you are not in the mood on a particular day or due to some genuine reason, do the minimum possible.

In the corporate world, we see two types of managers. The first type, managers with a fixed mindset, focus on their own benefits. The second type, managers with a growth mindset, give credit to their subordinates. Usually, individuals with fixed mindsets tend to blame others for their own failures, engage in negative talk about others, and complain about every trivial problem. On the contrary, those with a growth mindset take ownership of their failures, talk about the well-being of others, and look for little joys in everything. Sheetal Devi, an archer who won many medals despite losing her arm, says: "No one has any shortcomings; one just needs to work a little harder." Her story is a triumph of the human spirit against all odds.

Dr. Kalam, the missile man of India, says, "Life is the most difficult exam. Many people fail because they try to copy others, not realizing that everyone has a different question paper." In the author's words, "We are not replicas; each one of us is original." Rajendra Singh, the waterman of India, has a unique story because he revived ancient water conservation methods when people were blindly following modern techniques. Nawazuddin Siddiqui, an Indian film actor, faced many rejections and humiliations due to his unconventional looks. But he turned these obstacles into his strength. He succeeded because he was not like the rest of the lot. He was different. He was unique. We should never compare ourselves with others. If we should compare ourselves with anyone, it should be our past selves. We should value our time. We should forgive, forget, and move forward. Fear of failure is not the opposite of success; it is just a steppingstone toward it. These words of wisdom should be inscribed in gold.

Edison says, "Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up." Arunima Sinha, a mountaineer who lost her leg in a terrible incident, conquered Mount Everest with a prosthetic limb. She never gave up. She is a symbol of resilience, courage, and unyielding human spirit. The following words resonated with me: "The focus should be on the journey rather than the destination."

We are fearless in our childhood. But when we grow up, we tend to think negatively. What are the reasons for this mindset? The author presents his own life examples on how to conquer this fear and think positively to overcome our limiting beliefs. Benjamin Franklin's quote is a revelation: "Some people die at 25 and are not buried till 75." How true. You might be physically alive but have lost your zest for life. Some people have defied their age and done remarkable things in old age. The best chapters of your life may yet be written, and they await your pen.

The author's writing style is engaging. His language becomes poetic, enhancing its beauty without compromising its simplicity. He dissects the ruthless corporate world with the precision of an expert surgeon wielding a sharp scalpel in his skillful hands.

I recommend this book to everyone who wishes to transform their monotonous and purposeless life into a healthy, happy, and prosperous one.

Have you ever felt like you're holding yourself back, but can't quite put your finger on why? Breaking Free by Farhan Kardame tackles this very issue, helping readers confront the invisible chains we place on ourselves through limiting beliefs. It's not just another self-help book—it’s more like a conversation with someone who's been through the struggles and wants to guide you through your own.

Farhan Kardame, the author, brings his own experiences into this empowering guide. He simplifies the complex idea of "limiting beliefs" in a way that feels personal and relatable. His approach doesn’t feel preachy but comforting, like a friend sharing advice over coffee. If you've ever been stuck in self-doubt, this book is like a breath of fresh air.

The book revolves around helping you identify and break free from the mental barriers that hold you back. Kardame walks readers through real-life examples and practical exercises that make you pause and reflect on your own journey. He does this in such an approachable way that you don't feel overwhelmed—just gently guided.

What sets Breaking Free apart is how easy it is to dive into. Farhan’s writing is smooth, simple, and highly engaging. He uses everyday language, making complex ideas feel clear and manageable. There are no grandiose theories, just real, actionable steps that you can start implementing right away. It feels less like reading a book and more like being coached through your own transformation.

One thing that really hit home for me was how relatable the stories were. Farhan shares not only his personal experiences but also the struggles of others. This made me feel like I wasn’t alone in my challenges. Whether it’s overcoming fear, self-doubt, or societal expectations, the book made me feel understood, and that’s powerful.

The structure of the book is another strong point. Each chapter builds on the last, slowly peeling away layers of doubt and limiting beliefs. The pacing is perfect—you don’t feel rushed, and by the end, you’ve got a toolkit for facing life with more confidence. Farhan also provides reflection exercises that are not just "nice to do" but essential for deeper introspection.

The themes Kardame explores—self-worth, societal pressures, and mental blocks—are so relevant today. In a world where we’re constantly judged or pushed to meet impossible standards, this book is a gentle reminder that we have the power to rewrite our own stories. It’s an invitation to challenge what we think we know about ourselves.

Emotionally, this book is a rollercoaster. There were moments that had me nodding in agreement, and others that left me deep in thought, wondering about my own limiting beliefs. It stirred up questions I didn’t even know I had, and that’s what makes it such a rewarding read.

Farhan’s strength lies in his ability to make these abstract concepts feel real and tangible. He doesn’t just tell you what to do—he shows you how to do it. From actionable steps to personal stories, the book feels like a companion, urging you forward at your own pace.

If there’s one area for improvement, I’d say some parts of the book could dive even deeper into the psychological aspects. While it’s incredibly practical, a bit more exploration of the emotions behind limiting beliefs could have added more depth.

In the end, Breaking Free is not just about overcoming limiting beliefs—it’s about thriving. It’s a must-read for anyone feeling stuck, unsure of how to move forward. This book gives you the tools and the courage to rewrite the chapters of your life that you’ve been afraid to confront.

I highly recommend this book to anyone ready to break through their mental barriers and step into their full potential. Farhan Kardame has written a guide that is both practical and profoundly human.

When I first picked up *Breaking Free: A Guide to Overcome Limiting Beliefs and Thrive in Life* by Farhan Kardame, I thought it would be just another self-help book. But a few pages in, I realized this wasn’t just a guide to breaking free from the chains of limiting beliefs—it felt like a mentor offering a hand, pulling me out of my own mental cage. Kardame’s reflections on his personal journey, his struggles with failure, and his perseverance spoke to me on a deeply personal level. It was as if someone had peeled back the layers of societal expectations I’ve been bound by, reminding me that resilience, not perfection, is the key to thriving.

What set this book apart wasn’t just its insightful advice, but how Kardame framed his experiences in the context of everyday struggles that many of us face. The chapter on the rat race struck a chord—how often have we felt like we’re running without direction, just chasing after society’s approval? Kardame’s honesty about his academic and professional challenges, and his eventual triumphs, made me reflect on my own path. His narrative was like looking into a mirror, but instead of just seeing failures, I saw the potential for growth and resilience. It was the wake-up call I didn’t know I needed.

Personally, what resonated most was the rawness of Kardame’s journey—his repeated failures and yet unwavering commitment to push forward. It reminded me of my own struggles with fear and self-doubt. There have been many moments when I’ve stood at crossroads, paralyzed by the weight of expectations, unsure if I was capable of moving forward. His persistence became a beacon of hope for me, reminding me that setbacks are part of the process, not the end of the road.

If you’re someone who feels trapped by societal standards or the fear of failure, I can recommend *Breaking Free* enough. It’s more than just a book—it’s an invitation to rediscover your strength and chart your own path. Kardame’s story will resonate with anyone who has ever doubted themselves, making you realize that thriving isn’t about being perfect; it’s about breaking the chains of fear and stepping into your unique journey with courage.

Kardame shares a deeply personal account, beginning with his own corporate struggles and eventual awakening to a life of purpose. An eye opener.

The problem with what we see in some personal-growth and self-help literature these days is that, it may not necessarily be written for the reader’s sake. It is written as intellectual justification – proof that the writer is some kind of expert and hence appeals to people of certain level of intellect or knowledge in the subject matter.

On the contrary, this book is for anyone from avid book readers to the ordinary layman on the streets. The language used is simple with no intellectual jargon. The author displays that being considered as an expert in the subject matter or as an author is of no interest to him. Instead, he uses real life examples of successful people who have applied the principles explained in his book to become successful in their respective lives. In addition, the author provides exercises at the end of each chapter for readers to uncover their limiting beliefs and take steps to overcome them. Anyone who reads and consistently applies the principles explained in this book with perseverance and faith can overcome their limiting beliefs. Highly recommended.

"Self-introspection is an integral part of Transformation."

"Breaking Free: A Guide to Overcoming Limiting Beliefs and Thriving in Life" by author Farhan Kardame is a helpful guide that will assist readers in overcoming their limiting beliefs, which hold them back from realizing their full potential and bringing about positive change.

Author Farhan shares personal stories, examples, statistical insights, and strategies that will help readers thrive in life. I agree with the author that self-care is very important, and we should not neglect our health. Another important lesson the book imparts is that comparisons make us more anxious, ultimately leading to poor spending habits.

The story of one of his friends, Alifiya, inspired me greatly. Her commitment allowed her to achieve what she wanted.

The best part about the book is that it features exercises at the end of each chapter, prompting readers to think and answer important questions that facilitate self-discovery. The book also includes many inspiring quotes and various real-life examples that will motivate everyone reading it.

This is a concise practical self-help book yet wholesome in its content, as author Farhan helps readers introspect on their life. He does this by sharing his own life experiences, which will help readers relate their past experiences as well. He then gives practical advice to set a framework of vision and sub-visions covering career, health, relationships, and passion, and to navigate towards them with discipline. Farhan emphasizes with examples that individuals can achieve their goals if they believe in themselves and intentionally stay on the crafted path.

"Embarking on a unique path may invoke the fear of failure. However, remember that failure is not the opposite of success; it's a stepping stone towards it."

This book is focused and would be appealing to potential readers who value efficiency and clarity in their reading material. It offers valuable insights and practical advice in a clear and engaging manner. I feel Farhan wants to attract readers who are looking for substantive content to genuinely help them.
