About the author

F. ISABEL CAMPOY is the author of numerous children’s books in the areas of poetry, theatre, stories, biographies, and art. As a researcher she has published extensively bringing to the curriculum an awareness of the richness of the Hispanic culture. She is an educator specialized in the area of literacy and home school interaction, topics on which she lecturers nationally. An internationally recognized scholar devoted to the study of language acquisition, a field in which she started publishing in l973 after obtaining her degree in English Philology from Universidad Complutense in Madrid, Spain; and post graduate work in Reading University in England, and UCLA in the United States.

Her many accolades include ALA Notables, the San Francisco Library Award, the Reading the World Award from the University of San Francisco, the NABE Ramón Santiago Award, the International Latino Children’s Book Award, and nine Junior Library Guild selections. She is a member of the North American Academy of Spanish Language.

"Tú eres la obra de arte, de la vida."

Once cuadros clásicos del mundo hispaniohablante.
Treinta niñas y mujeres.
Diecinueve niños y hombres. 

Tarsila do Amaral, un pintor modernista de Brasil, crea un paisaje geométrico. 

Diego Velázquez, pintor de la corte del rey Felipe IV de España, se pintó a si mismo en la cuadro. 

Fernando Castillo, nació de una familia humilde, pintó un niño mexicano y su gato, llenos de amor.

Alfredo Ramos y Ezequiel Negrete ambos miembres de las eseculas al aire libre. 

La pintura de Héctor Poleo presenta un estilo realismo social muy delineado, como los murales de Diego Rivera. 

"Mi familia antes de que yo naciera" es un cuadro de estilo primitivista de el pintor mexicano Luis Jaso, que tenía limitada educación artística formal. 

Roberto Benítez tambien es pintor primitivista, tambien representar la vida diaria, como el campo cuando es tiemp de cosecha. 

Carmen Lomas Garza es de Texas, como yo asi. Quiero ver sus pinturas salpica con papel picado.

I love this book. I got this for my friend Emily (Art [therapy] & Spanish [interpreting] dual major) and her pre-schooler and I think they're going to love it. There's lovely counting, a light seek and find aspect, and an exploration of Hispanic/Latinx art history. I hope they like it as much as I do!
