Shirley Hailstock loves reading. She'd like nothing better than to find a corner in the library and get lost in a book, explore new worlds and visit places she never expected to see. Now as an author, she can not only visit those places, but she can be the heroine of her own stories.

A past president of Romance Writers of America, Shirley began her writing career on a dare. Taking a year to complete her first manuscript, the writing bug bit her and she discovered telling stories of love and adventure was what she wanted to spend her life doing.

Not very enjoyable. I could not connect with either character. Hero/Heroine knew each other from Princeton . Too many references to Diana 4.0 (A Nerd) and the BMOC (Big Man on Campus). The formula did not work for me.

Former College bully Scott Thomas is not above a little trickery to get what he wants from Diana Greer. A change of plans, a fake kiss put his bullying on a different course. Is this going to be a match made in heaven or will someone have hell to pay.

I like the story line. Nerdy college student carries a torch for BMOC, which he never suspects. years later they are matched up by a dating site. They argue and spar - but love wins in the end.

Needed a good editor. Way too many continuity issues. If you’re going to describe an outfit in detail like “the white skirt and green off-the-shoulder sweater she wore” then don’t switch it to a spaghetti strap dress a couple pages later. There were many of these which was just distracting. I wanted to grab a red pen and start marking it up!

Quick read. There was a section of the story where Diana & Scott that did not flow smoothly. Also the description was lacking as to characteristics that made that particular character whom they are.

This book was a joy to read. I not only enjoyed the relationship between the two main characters, but the roles of supporting characters; especially the "other woman." As usually this author has never disappointed me.

Overall, an okay read. Was disappointed in the (spoiler alert) proposal at the end. It felt too cold, too sudden, even though probably meant to be spontaneous.

Plot is okay but it goes on and on. First time to read this author. The ending is kind of blah. Felt like after so much it kind of ran out of steam.

My brain is swiss cheese - (like I said in the other review; literally I'm forgetting to eat these days...) BUT ANYWAY. Audiobook read and I am CRUSHED the other books in this series aren't in audio.

I'm hoping I can find the others - I think in e at the library ...
So! There is that!

I've also never read or heard of Shirley Hailstock before - AND HOW?! So anyway. Definitely want to ready Teddy's book. (Teddi?) LOW KEY TOO LAZY TO LOOK.

Diana and Scott are just perfect for each other. I KINDA wish there'd been more on the internet dating thing - it's mentioned but not much - but it is... it's hard to explain.
One thing that a little bit bothered me "bothered" was the "BMOC" thing. Like ... they all went to Princeton [fancy!] - WHICH I guess is INSANELY different from where I went. (Which also, duh) - but like... how ... would one even be a "BMOC" at OSU? (Other than I guess being a future NFL HOFer...)

But like even in HS there wasn't that "one majorly popular guy" [or my HS experience was even further out of the norm that I thought...]

So like for a fully grown woman who has "moved past" all that ... she really REALLY hasn't. I guess Diana's kinda stuck in when she first met Scott and her crush and awe of/for him.
[I couldn't ... quite get the whole bet/kiss thing on campus - like it seemed like he wanted to but he ran off? And ... whut. Even though THAT was brought up a few times.]

I thought Diana was so freaking badass -other than her being overawed of Scott even after ... argh I can't remember - 8+ years?

[Her "catfight" with the other girl.]
OMG when she's so mad at Scott/cuts him off because of what happens to Teddy.

I think Scott was a bit much with showing up at her house a lot?

Also the lack of communication - I get why he ran off the first time, because he didn't have time to explain - but the next time when they were in (MN?) like - she already knows what he does, and also a ton of people have the name "Linda" -so why not just TELL HER WHAT'S UP.
Diana supposedly/written as believing he was running off to see "bad Linda" was pretty ridiculous though.

So there was some shoe horned in drama...

But otherwise I quite liked this book and honestly based on what I remember I'd say C+ ... maybe B--?

So yeah - I'm rating it. I can definitely see myself re-reading this book and as stated, I know I want to read book 2 at least in SOME form, and seeing how I feel about book 3 after that.

This was an entertaining book. There were very predictable parts, but there were also parts that had a definite twist. The transformation of the smart girl and BMOC was plotted out well. I would definitely recommend this one.
