For a decade, I left my broken heart on the shelf to raise my daughter Maddie alone. Then Lexie and Olivia came into my life, and things have never been the same since.
But enjoying the affections of two beautiful, complex women is one thing. Navigating the nuances of love with both of them at once is another altogether. It soon proves to be a challenge that extends well beyond the three of us.
When Olivia’s family grows increasingly unhappy with our unconventional relationship, I have to grapple with maintaining an equilibrium between my desire to support her and her quest for emotional independence. Before we can untangle this intricate web, the unexpected return of my ex-wife shakes the foundations of both my life and Maddie’s.
Caught in the intersection of Maddie's past and my future, we're all forced to redefine the essence of love and family. The four of us must confront the true meaning of letting go – whether it's an act of healing and love, or the only way to move forward.
Bikini Nights is a multi-POV, explicit, age-gap, menage romance with emotional drama, no cheating/NTR, and a HEA.
Michael Dalton is a professional journalist and editor.
Michael wrote his first piece of fiction in third grade, for which he was immediately accused of plagiarism by his teacher. Since then, he has been writing more or less steadily, interrupted only by occasional demands of work and family.
Michael lives with his family and multiple pets in Southern California.
Argh! I’m really torn on this book - 4 stars or 5? There were some really good 5 star parts coupled with the author taking some really easy outs.
The good: Dalton did a really solid job as Maddie, with her father’s full support, dealt with her mother, including the two face to face interactions. I thought the background on the divorce was insightful, although it didn’t appear they looked at many options to resolve the irritations. I do wonder why the lack of contact with the twins never came up? As well, Ethan and Olivia did a super job dealing with Olivia’s parents/mother, although I don’t know why they didn’t meet on neutral ground. Ethan’s insights into the mother were illuminating. I think it was a good proxy for the overall issue of people, young and old, who lean on the opinions of others rather than putting their own views first. The technical cooking knowledge was an interesting diversion.
The poor: the trip to Vegas was gratuitous. There were lots of opportunities for some conflict, but none arose. Overall, the s*x scenes were fine, nothing special. Although I wonder if young women want to be fondled all the time?
I will buy the next book as there is a good hook at the end of this one - no cliffhanger. I’ll be interested to see if relationships begin to shift as the characters evolve. That could bring some friction to the relationships that I feel the author will work through insightfully. Also, it will be interesting to see if Olivia and Lexie start to move in different directions if one continues her education and the other doesn’t?
I’m going to stick with 4 Stars. I believe the author has much more to give and he took some lazy options with this one.
After finishing book 1 I was left wondering where Dalton was gonna go with the story if there was a place to go with it. In hindsight it was pretty obvious but that's why I'm not an author.
If you enjoyed the first book you'll enjoy this one. Some of the drama hits a bit harder, at least for me it did. Lots more steamy scenes than book 1 and they're awesome. To be honest there's not much more to say.
4.5 Stars. A nice, low-stress story about people sorting their lives out in slightly unconventional ways at times. There is some mild crossover with the author's other fantasy worlds, but nothing has developed there. Yet. I can see this going in that direction as a way to add depth, but we'll see.
Otherwise I can see one more book with the girls off to finish college, and I'm not sure the story so far can stretch much farther.
I'm happy to find out that my initial assumption was incorrect!
Great book I really enjoyed this book.It is a story about love and family. It follows the lives of characters dealing with complicated relationships. Despite challenges, they find happiness in the end. It's a good read for those who enjoy romantic stories with some spice.
The author manages to instill believable personalities in all his characters bringing them to life for his readers. Also, with a plot that is well thought out and close to believable as possible. This is storytelling at it best. Enjoy this tale and you too will be looking forward to the next installment.
This is one of my favorite series right now. The sex doesn't take over the story but rather enhances it. The relationship seems real and not haremy. This book really continued and closed some of the story lines from book one and opened some potential interesting story lines for the next book.
The only complaint about this book is that it's not longer.
Great book and continuation from the first one. I really like the storyline and it’s a believable progression from the first and sets up some potential for a conspiracy type suspense (in my mind at least). I won’t go into the details of the conspiracy part because of potential spoilers, beyond just saying it’s related to his job.
Happiness is made of many things, some simple, some not, this story has both, and explores it from each. Yes, lots of sex, but a lot of warmth and love. Unusual relationships need an extra extra effort by all and not only with those taking part but those on the outside looking in. Highly recommended!!
The author is very good keeping the story moving. He moves from one character to another without missing a beat, all the while keeping story line moving. I'm waiting for the next book to see what happens.
Very slice of life happy read. The more spicy scenes stay more realistic than most in the genre. Relationships and people also feel more real and well thought out. Easy fun read. Recommend. Will leave you feeling happy.
It's not a wham bam kind of story... it has plenty of steamy sections that revolve around Ethan and the girls, but also has a good story line. I really enjoyed the story and would like to see how this works out.
The real emotions and relationship problems between family is real. The love invested between the Main Characters is pure and genuine feeling. I absolutely cannot wait for more. Anxiously waiting!!!
The story picks up in a nice place after the first book and runs through as a romantic fantasy. This is escapism and pleasure reading, nothing deep, just fun. The conversations at times between characters who are in conflict are a bit too perfectly worded, but I was always on the side of the right characters. I look forward to the next book.
If you enjoyed the first one you'll enjoy the sequel. Bikini Nights is great because the MC (Ethan) is a man who has progressed and gone through enough in life that the personal and life problems that pop up for him are handled with patience and empathy. The women are also great, with emotional development that I honestly wish I had at their ages.
I think it says something to Dalton's writing that I still found this story engrossing even though it's past the "will they won't they" stage of romance. Kudos to the author for keeping me interested throughout.
My only (personal) con is that I would have liked there to be more conflict centered around the age difference. It almost seems too easy? Now that I'm thinking about it however, I'd rather not mess up a good thing so take my con with a grain of salt here.
This series keeps getting better and better. I love the characters, I love how realistic the story and conversations and flaws and interactions all are. I wish there were more heartfelt books like this in this genre. I can’t wait for the next one.
These three are an interesting combination of lovers. How, do you learn to let others find there own way. Find love and helping others get to go where they want to go. what a way to free yourself and othdrt.
I really enjoyed this book. I tend to focus on fantasy as my genre of choice. There are many types of fantasy though. Epic fantasy, hard fantasy, superhero fantasy. I love them all. Then there are the other fantasies. The erotic fantasy, the harem fantasy, etc. You might ask yourself where I am going with this. As much as I love the unbelievable aspects of the fantasy stories, I really enjoy when I can gleam practical truths from these stories. Just because these stories are fake, doesn't mean we can't get some truths out of them. In the movie, V for Vendetta, V tells Evie that actors use lies to tell the truth. It is those little nuggets of truth that really make the story for me. There is a scene in this one where Ethan is making chili. It is going to take a few days and he goes over the process. Liz tells him that she didn't know there was so much work in making chili. He responds that making chili is sort of like a relationship. You get out of it what you put in. Truth bomb right there. I like the passion the author put into his characters. Ethan loves to cook and spends a lot of time making food for the people he loves. You can tell by the way it is described that he is passionate about this subject. I really like reading stories where someone is passionate about something. Ethan is passionate about a lot of things. He loves to cook, he loves his family, his daughter and he really loves taking care of Liz and Olivia. He has passion for sex with them as well (this is an erotic fantasy after all). I like the communication that happens with the three of them. Each person is trying to meet the others needs. Each feels they are getting a lot out of the relationship. There is a lot of "did you like that? What can I do for you?" questions. While this relationship is unconventional, I think it is really healthy. Each person is getting something out of it. The girls get someone attractive that they trust completely who they know will take care of them. They know they have daddy issues and if they can get their needs met by Ethan at the same time making sure they keep him happy then why not? Ethan has spent the last 10 years taking care of other people. One can argue it is his passion. I don't think he would know who he was if he didn't have someone to take care of. Olivia and Liz are beautiful and they need him. They bring life and color back into his life and they let him take care of him. Men and women are different. A woman might lament the fact that nobody loves them. I man will lament the fact that nobody will accept his love. While it doesn't sound like a big difference, there really is.
Definitely a good read. The story continues, after Maddie’s girlfriends hookup with Ethan. New twists appear, obviously. Brenda Maddie’s mom, makes an appearance, Olivia’s mom takes another try to influence her and a midweek trip to Los Vegas is fun. But the thing that really pulls me in are the little tidbits or easter eggs that Michael includes. Like the cooking scenes and the comments about Vegas or the comments about parenting and how these people think about how their relationship works. Lots of two way and three way sex, making it seem believable. Definitely looking for more. Glad to hear it is coming.
Better than the first one. Surprisingly this one is not so much of a sex book, but rather a soap opera. Depictions of cooking (that have way more emotion in them than sex) make it more of a ... food porn? I am wondering where the story would go from here on because currently there are a number of characters that make me ask why they are there at all.
Slice of life, May to December, poly relationships
Ethan, Olivia, and Lexie continue to enjoy their complex relationship, with the support of Ethan's kids. Some drama, too. Characters act believably, pacing and dialogue is good. A few more errors in book 2, but still above average editing. Enjoyed.
The characters are extremely well developed and the relationships are thoroughly explored and defined. The growth of the relationships is well paced, really draws the reader into the life's of the characters, and helps you feel like they are part of your life. Excellent series and I am looking forward to Book 3.
Really good book. I really enjoy the issues that the author introduced. There’s no clean answer. But the main characters worked things out to a certain point. I highly recommend recommend.
Pretty basic mens romance. Want to read a very, very competently executed story about a guy in a polycule with two much younger women? If so, then this is the book for you! If not, then there's not much else happening here, so you probably won't like it.
The characters just keep getting cuter and cuter and the MC keeps developing also. Some of the relationship situations and musings by the author I really great. I highly recommend it I'm moving on to the next episode
Bikini Nights has issues. Mommy, Daddy, and Five Star. Shall I go on? I can say this. I'm anxiously awaiting the next book, Bikini Dawn. Michael Dalton hit a homerun. Or that was Papa Bear Ethan with Olivia and Lexie. I can't get enough of these three. And even when they're not in the throes of passion. Their every day. However, my favorite parts are those moments of love… But you also have Maddie and the drama fest that she has to go through. Is it strange that I want Maddie to find someone like her dear Daddy? Ha-Ha! I'd buy a few copies for friends if this book had a soft cover. But I'll still share with, ahem, EVERYONE!
It's pretty great for what it is, which is slow slice-of-life drama and sexy times. The characters were incredibly believable which blows me away the more I read this series.
