I never believed in fate, until I was forced to marry Gavin Gray.
Unaware we are fated mates, we quickly shifted from friends to forbidden lovers.
Raised as a princess among whispers and wolves, nothing prepared me for Gavin's disarming royal charm.
Ours was a union meant for alliance, yet it ignited into a fierce, untamed passion.
His grin awakened a primal hunger deep within me.
But one fateful decision altered everything, sparking a dangerous game.
Though fate binds me to Gavin, the rejected prince promises to make us pay.
Trapped between love and duty, I’m confronted with the wrath of the prince I rejected.
With a kingdom at stake and hearts on the line, will our love be strong enough to conquer the darkness?

Alpha’s Frost Bound Fate is a standalone royal romance with a happily ever after. No Cheating.

5/5 Stars - Unputdownable captivating plot, it hooked me instantaneously and kept me up all night. - Beta Reader Review

I read this book on the drive to a construction project, long commute for the win!
I enjoyed this book, I thought I would hate it because the MMC was annoying but nope it made sense!

I dnf this book, but I will skip to the next one because the flavor was good, just the world was confusing. For example:

- They are at war and have "front lines" that have existed for years, yet the ice kingdom doesn't appear to have any squads who've seen action.
- They have kingdoms of Wolves, with monarchies and aristocratic structures, but "lower" Wolves don't know about them enough to reveal them to witches when they're kidnapped and tortured to reveal the identities and locations of all the Wolves they know. So they live among humans. But, they have communities of just Wolves, and when a community is attacked, members of the royal family go running to show support and investigate, and they are recognized and respected.
- They apparently live lives insulated from humans, but live in mansions and towns and have all kinda of modern things like stilettos and air ships to drop into the Academy when it is attacked, and cars and more. How do they operate flying machines without filing flight plans? How do they get drivers licenses if they don't interact with humans? Supposedly, humans know nothing about them, so they don't have an "in" that smoothes the way for them. But Leia does fundraising for human charities, which is never talked about outside of the fact she does it. How is she so involved if they live outside of human society? How do they have money for anything?
- The shape-shifting was a curse bestowed by witches generations ago, and they are "dying out," but they have kingdoms worth of Wolves and people. The witches cursed entire kingdoms? And are now trying to wipe them out? They don't inter-breed with humans, so they've remained genetically diverse enough to remain healthy? That's a lot of people.
- She is forced to pick a mate at a ~3 hour event with hundreds of royal candidates (again, how do they have this many people??), after meeting a small percentage of them and no prep work as to who would be a good candidate or anything.
- The royal families seldom act like royalty and more.

I'm pretty sure what happened was the author said, "I want to write a story about royalty with arranged marriages. Ooh, and they're shapeshifters! He's a war hero, so he's strong with a past, and she's a do-gooder princess (who knows nothing about her own people's plights but goes around working to improve human communities in undisclosed ways), oh and let's have them be fated mates but they don't know it until later for drama, and we need a conflict no one sees coming... how about Wolves attacking Wolves because this fire prince wants to marry the princess so he can enslave humans? (BTW, they keep "trash" a.k.a. humans around in dungeons for training purposes, just a random factoid from the beginning of the book). Oh, and they need powers because who doesn't love magic? I could go on, but you get the idea.

Too many plot holes, the story and characters were inconsistent, and everything that happened was all just too convenient .

3 stars because it was actually pretty sweet, and the writing wasn't that bad. It felt coherent, but the glaring plotholes kept knocking me out of the story. I'll see if the next one got any better.

3.5 stars.
This was a story of politics and a hidden war. There is no way for Gavin to become king in his own clan because of archaic tradition, even though he is the most worthy. He sees getting engaged to his old friend Leia as a means to a crown so, a bargain is made.
The story goes on to tell of the war with witches and then there are new attacks.
As far as romance, it was luke warm. Gavin is denying they're in love to a friend in the afternoon and then a few hours later he is telling her she has his heart.
This concept of wolfshifters having powers over the different elements reminded me of The Last Air Bender.
The most entertaining characters were the wolves in the mmcs. Leia was the typical "princess". For example, when discussing the duel, her concern was about what would happen to her if he died. She didn't have faith that he would win.

Can the prince of darkness Gavin Grey & princess of ice Leia Lafayette truly be meant to be?

This was a fast-paced, action-packed shifter romance! You have Gavin & Leia who were childhood bestfriends until Gavin joined the military and left Leia behind. Their relationship was never the same until it was announced that Leia is looking for a husband. Gavin throws his hat in the ring hoping to come out on top.

I really enjoyed this different take on a shifter romance. The spice was 🌶🌶🌶 I'd recommend this to anyone who loves shifted romances.

Royally Mated

Leia and Gavin’s story is a mix of soul mates, second chance romance and forced mating . It’s a great mix of all 3, with lots of hot sex thrown in. Add in wolf shifters working with their hereditary enemies as you have one action packed read. Great characters and a decent plot made this a 4⭐️ read for me.

Received free on a Stuff Your Kindle day. It has promise but lacked any depth of world building and the characters were very one dimensional. Decent for a quick read with some spice.

Can darkness combine with ice in this shifter romance?

Alpha’s Frost Bound Fate follows the story of Gavin, a pack Alpha and prince of darkness, and Leia, an ice princess who is heir to her father’s throne. We quickly learn that Gavin is determined and longs for power; his cold and focused nature seeming almost brutal. Contrasting with this, Leia is kind and charitable, spending her time trying to help needy humans (undeterred by the stigma this holds in the Lycan world). Once childhood friends, Gavin and Leia, are reunited when Leia’s father invites potential suitors to attend a gathering where Leia must choose her future king.
Both are subject to the archaic rules and whims of their royal families and long to break free from some of the restraints and expectations. Could a union between darkness and ice work, and what obstacles might they face should Gavin be chosen by Leia? Expect to find out in this tantalising shifter romance.
At times I found the narrative a little clunky for my liking but still compelling. Gavin’s character is well explored through the story, however, Leia’s less complex character could’ve been developed more. Overall, Alpha’s Frost Bound Fate is good read with a generous sprinkling of spice throughout. The storyline moves the reader along at a nice pace as we seek to find out whether Gavin and Leia will both live to final pages and whether either, or both, will get a happy ever after ending.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys shifter romance and could happily read further titles by Ruby Brinks.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy and am voluntarily reviewing it. This book started out hard and fast. Gavin Grey is fourth in line for the Grey Throne as the youngest of the Grey men. Basically, he will never be King. There is no path. The Crown prince, Gerren, was not taking the job seriously. Gavin rose through the ranks of the army to be the best. He knew what he wanted, needed, but had no way of getting there.

Princess Leia Lafayette is looking for her prince. Whoever she selects will rule beside her when she becomes queen. Gavin sees this as his only chance at a throne. Fortunately, fate is on his side. Gavin and Leia were close at one point. They were good friends, and this union would be one a friendship, not love. Or so they thought. Both had changed in their time away. The attraction was definitely there, but they both had other things to handle.

Wolves were being killed and it looked like it was by other wolves. This was against the law and needed to be stopped right away. Leia and Gavin have their hands full with this mystery. This book is action-packed with battles and even a duel. Yes, you heard right, a duel. What will happen to the Lafayette Kingdom if Leia and Gavin aren't able to work together? I really enjoy the world Ms. Brinks creates. Her wolves differ from the accepted norms. Each book carries a different set of rules which add to the mystery of the book. How will these wolves come together? Do they know about mates? This book is not any different, and I really enjoyed it.

Prince Gavin is 4th born and therefore not destined to be king of the Grey royal household even though he is the strongest and most competent Alpha of the 4 brothers. He has served time in the army and worked his way up through the ranks. The only way is to marry a future queen. Princess Leia Lafeyette is due start her ascension to the throne but needs to be married to do so. Therefore, her parents hold a party inviting suitors for Leia to meet. Leia is surprised when Gavin attends the party, she hasn't seen him since he left for the army. They were best friends as children and it hurt Leia when Gavin suddenly left her. Gavin puts a proposition to her, that she could accept him as her future husband as she already knows him and he would support her plus Gavin would finally become a king something he thinks he is destined to be.
Leia accepts his proposal and both are surprised when the friendship becomes something deeper and stronger. But it's not all plain sailin along the way. They encounter slaughter of their own kind and an incident within the Lafeyette household that could threaten their relationship.

I really enjoyed this book. Each book gets stronger than the last. The story line is good as well as the characters within it. The story is seamless and is not rushed in any part. Definitely 5*'s.

Darkness and Ice

A fabulously action packed wolf shifter romance. Once I'd started this I couldn’t put it down. There is action, family drama, magic, steamy romance and HEA.

Princess Leia is old enough now to be named heir to the Lafeyette (Ice) throne but needs to have a husband to start her ascension. Her father is also keen that she stop helping with human charities. When her father invites younger sons of the other royal houses to a dinner for her to pick a suitor she's pleased to see Prince Gavin again. They had been friends as children but she hadn't seen him since he'd left to join the army.

Gavin is his father's 4th son so will never sit on his family's (darkness) throne, even though he is by far the strongest in darkness. He proposes to Leia that she take him as her future husband which will work in both their favours, she can spend time helping the humans and he can help rule a kingdom.

She accepts but they find their friendship tested by another suitor who had hoped to win her hand. As they work together they find feelings growing deeper. But when there are attacks in the kingdoms and wolves are fighting wolves, they will have to find the strength to overcome the darkness.

Gavin is the fourth son of the Grey pack and will never be king. He wants to do more to help the lives of the wolves but can't accomplish what he wants within his pack. Leia is the princess of the Lafayette pack and has known Gavin since childhood. They each have their special power and her power is ice, while his is creating shadows. Her father forces her to marry and has a ball where she meets all interested eligible men. She picks Gavin and a spurned suitor turns very dangerous.

There are evil forces at hand, including witches and Felix, the spurned suitor who wants to kill Gavin and take Leia for his own. Except for his mother and brother Graham, the rest of Gavin's family members are nightmares and offer no support to Gavin.

The story deepens as dark forces are killing wolves and destroying packs. Gavin is determined to find the perpetrators. He has the full support of Leia's family in his search for the truth. He is also building a relationship with Leia since the will marry.

The end of the story left some unanswered questions that I hope will be answered in the next book. Brinks has a wonderful writing style and left me wanting more.

Writing was okay. Story was very interesting and had some new world building I've never seen before like wolves having magical abilities tied to different elements. The romance between the MCs wasn't instalove because they were close as children so it was honest and open communication. He was an alpha protector and she liked his protection but he also listened to her and respected her... it was supposed to be my first 5-star read in 2024.

However, and this is a BIG one... I had some major issues with the discrimination and hatred towards humans, witches, and even other wolf elementals. The MCs and all supporting characters are extremely racist. Like, humans are trash, no better than dirt and if a wolf gets a human pregnant, the wolf army must find and murder that newborn. Not even theoretical. The MMC was a leader in the army and THIS was one of his duties. And he had zero regrets.

I wanted to like it and just skip the genocide talk and inner wolves (who were like having your 80 year old uncle who you only see at major holidays level of blunt racism) but it just became the major plot point and I just couldn't get on board with the idea that wolves shouldn't mingle with witches or humans and DEFINITELY better not breed with them.

Prince Gavin is the youngest son of the alpha King of shadows, strong, powerful and battle trained alpha. Ice Princess Leia Lafayette must choose her husband from all the royal younger sons. Gavin and Leia were childhood friends, Fire prince Felix wants Leia, he has plans to enslave all humans and rule all wolves. Leia feels safe with Gavin, she chooses Gavin. Felix is furious and uses his fire 🔥 to attack Gavin, almost burns down Leia’s home. Town attacked by fire wolves killing wolves and children, no humans harmed. Academy is attacked by Felix and his wolves, kidnapping Leia’s sister. Dangerous enemies, betrayal, deadly attacks, forced duel, Felix cheats in duel. Spellbinding, thrilling and amazing story, steamy fated mates . Delightful, exciting story with fantastic characters.
Great reading, loved every second 🥰🤩.

I absolutely loved this book! The world building and character development were great. Sometimes shifter books can be cheesy and unbelievable. That was definitely NOT the case with Alpha's Frost Bound Fate. Everything about it was well thought out and as believable as such things can be. I loved the incorporation of magic/abilities as well! I felt like it added another layer to the story that only made it better!

I found it impossible not to love the main characters and their relationship. I found myself laughing out loud several times. I would have loved to see more of their story and hope to in the future!

Expecting the normal werewolves fated mates, I was pleasantly surprised and mesmerised with a different take on this thrilling storyline. The ambitious Grey Prince Gavin and 4th in line in his own kingdom, sets his sights on the Ice Lafollette Princess Leia, next in line to be the Queen, who has to pick suitor as dictated by the reigning king, in order to become a king. Ruby added in wolves with elemental powers, a kidnapping, a duel to the death, lots of spice, etc. Strong characters who are unbeknownst to them fated mates. I read non stop.

This is the first time I’ve chosen an advance review copy of a book, so pleased I chose Alpha’s frost bound fate. The story of Gavin and Leia is fast paced, filled with drama, action and steamy passion between the main characters. As the title says it’s a ‘friends to lovers’ story which makes a nice change,

I would’ve liked a little bit more of their childhood back story to add a bit more depth to the characters. This is a stand-alone book but i was left wanting to know what happens next to certain members of the Royal families and the wolves/witches relationship.

I received this book for free but would definitely buy other books by this author

Awesome paranormal story. It was a page turner and the suspense was paranormal fantastic. I was on the edge of my seat and I couldn’t put it down. She was forced to married her enemies and she was not too happy about it. The physical attraction was intense and the chemistry between them were very strong and complex of something new was about to start between them as a couple. With action packed of drama and danger as well romance so she can be with her right mate her true love. I highly recommend this book and you won’t be disappointed. I really enjoyed Gavin and Leia’s story I normally don’t go for royal werewolf stories as much as other werewolf stories. I saw Ruby had a new book and I’ve loved everything I’ve read so far by her so I thought what the heck I’ll give it a try. This book is so good you’ve got fated mates, rejected princes and these aren’t just regular royal werewolves they have powers how cool is that. I love how Gavin feels that his past is too dark but Leia doesn’t care about any of that she’s proud of him the way he is, they bring out the best in each other.

This is one I really couldn't seem to get into. DNF.
Leia seems like she has something about her that could make her likable but her inner wolf is just as bad as Gavin and his wolf. There's a serious amount of hate towards those who aren't wolves and talk about killing humans and their halfbreed babies is suppose to be okay? Humans are trash to the wolves and to have a child with one is a cause to kill any who do sleep with a wolf and conceive. I couldn't get over how they spoke about others and how easy it is for them to feel proud about killing babies and their human mothers. I'm only giving grace to Leia who seems to be different. Honestly I couldn't finish this one.

Entertaining Read

Families don’t always support the right member and although Gavin was the strongest, he was the youngest so when the opportunity arose, he took it with both hands and made a play for his long ago friend Leia.

Leia had to choose a husband and in Gavin she found a soul mate but there always seemed to be obstacles in their way.

A wonderful sizzling action packed adventure with betrayal, danger, supernatural powers and steamy moments to keep you reading until the end.

As often happens, power holds greater significance for some individuals than anything else. They will do whatever it takes, regardless of the cost or how many others may fall in their pursuit.

In "Alpha's Frost Bound Fate," Ruby Brinks crafts a compelling love story amidst a literal royal mess - no pun intended - when Princess Leia Lafayette is forced to find a husband to ascend to her throne. In an act of benevolence, Fate brings her childhood friend, Gavin Grey, to her door. The story is replete with action, struggles, and intrigue, culminating in a well deserved happily ever after.

Gavin is a prince with no kingdom, being the fourth in line in his region. Leia is the next heir in line in her kingdom and her father is ready for her to take over. Leia has agreed to take a king and Gavin voluntold her he will accept the job and she will have free reign to do what she wants. What the two did not accept is a starting of a war and increasing romantic feelings for each other. Join the story to see how this prince and princess become king and queen of Leia's kingdom. Enjoy :).

When you know that you deserve better and go out to find it, that says something about you. In a world of Royals, drama and love pave the way for Leia and Levi. They seem to find their way to each other after years of being apart as friends. This book was such a page turner, you want to know what happens next and the action is really amazing in a way that is not over the top. You won't be disappointed with the way it unfolds and comes together.
