Oh my gawd this was so good, I experienced the same nostalgia I got from the first book reading the second as well. I enjoyed reading it again after having read it years ago on Wattpad. Reine waking up as vampire, people dying, betraying, and the love between Edmond and Reine, so much happens in this book....I most definitely ate this book up in one sitting and I can't wait to read more.

First I would like to thank NetGalley and Wattpad Webtoon Book Group for allowing me to read this eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Revelations is the sequel to Belle Morte, a fantasy ya set in a world where vampires and humans coexist peacefully. However, the balance has been undermined by a group of opponents of the "law" of vampires.

Compared to the first volume here we have more action, more passion and more emotions in general, that’s why I preferred it.
While reading this I really fell in love with the characters and loved Renie.

The writing of Bella Higgin is very simple and flowing and the covers are beautiful!

Why recommend this book? Because it's a fun and undemanding read!
From today I am officially a Vladdict.

The second book in the "Belle Morte" series amps up the storyline. It starts off right where book one ended. There is more drama, violence, answers, romance and high stakes making for a more intense and gripping plot. Renie is still pretty annoying, not enough to hate her though. I wish there was more focus on her transformation and adjustment. She seems to be awakening to vampirism with almost too much ease. Besides the stereotypical "I can't bite a huuuuman" aspect. The new characters were enjoyable.

Would recommend.

This series has sank it’s fangs into me in the most delicious little love bite ever and I’m not letting it let go!

First things first, check out my review of book 1 here: Belle Morte

Now let’s get to my book 2 review!

What I liked about the book:
1. Vampire murder mystery full of political intrigue, secret passageways(!), the banding together of unlikely friends, and la petite mort we so desperately craved!

2. I loved and appreciated that the author gave us callbacks of events in book 1. I for sure didn’t remember some of the details, and Bella had our backs with reminding us of important details.

3. I loved watching the mutual respect grow between Ysanne and Renie. Getting to see from Renie’s point of view, we got insight into her internal thoughts on things, and saw her grow to truly understand Ysanne. This line for me, really sold that:

If Ysanne had been anyone else, I’d have comforted her, but I knew her well enough now to understand that was not what she wanted. To Ysanne, grief and comfort were things to be shown in private, not in front of everyone else.

Similarly, seeing Ysanne open up to Renie (in her own ways), was tragically beautiful. She was so broken in this book (for several, really good reasons) that she really opened up to those in her circle and we got to see that hidden side to her I KNEW existed.

Given they are both strong, smart women, I loved watching them work together instead of against one another!

4. I loved that Roux and Jason still played such a large part in these series, and are now the only humans around going forward, besides maybe Nikki, who I LOVED!

5. The characters remained strong!

Edmond I felt was a stronger character in this one. Perhaps it was too long ago that I read book 1, but I felt he was more in touch with his soldier past in this book and I loved seeing this side of him. In fact, his battles side by side with Ludovic were some of my favorite scenes in the whole book!

Ysanne I for sure have a crush on. She is a Boss Babe and I would die for her!

Jason was hilarious and served as the comic relief in this actiony installment.

Roux was solving riddles like a world-class sleuth.

Ludovic was even more badass than book 1 (didn’t know that was possible!) and I definitely didn’t miss those lingering glances at Roux. I swear to the Gods, if they don’t end up together I’m going to have a FIT!!!

Nikki was a new character who was fantastic! She was smart as a whip and fearless even in the face of potential death. I really hope she continues to be in this series and we see more of her!

6. I started a list of quotes and scenes I loved and quickly realized they are all Edmond! ALL OF THEM! Check these out and see why Edmond has me googling sweet men with French accents.

“I swore to myself that I’d never love again,” he said, and Renie stiffened. “I told myself that it wasn’t worth the pain,” he continued. “But…” Leaning forward, he rested his forehead against hers. […] “It was worth it. It’s always worth it. I didn’t want to fall in love with you, but you stole my heart and I don’t want it back.”

Loving someone was giving them your heart – when someone hurt Renie, they hurt Edmond too. He feared for her more than he feared for himself, and that fear was an icy wave that crashed into him, making him feel like all his vampire strength had been stripped away.

What use was superior strength when he couldn’t use it to protect the woman he loved?

Edmond: “How are you feeling?”

Renie: “Calmer. I’m still processing everything that’s happened, and I’m still not okay, but I’m not going to fall apart.”

Edmond: “If you do fall, I’ll always catch you.”

Renie: “I know.”

“I have lived a very long time, and I’ve loved a number of women, but you, ma chérie – you undo me.”

7. That cover is Gorg-town! Super pretty!

What could have been better:
1. Similar to my thoughts on book 1, it was dual POV, but Renie’s sections were in first person, while Edmond’s were in third person, and I disliked it strongly! I really wanted this story in first person dual POV, or if once Renie became a vampire her POV to shift to third person like Edmond’s. If this was a style choice by the writer to have all vampires be third person POV, I could have actually gotten behind this in a really big way, but that didn’t happen so I’m left with eye twitches of frustration.

2. Renie was kind of annoying in this book. I did like how every time she started getting annoying, though, she did call herself out. I appreciated her ability to self-regulate her attitude and trains of thought, but it was still a little annoying to go through the process with her.

3. There simply was not enough build up into the Roux and Ludovic relationship I MUST HAVE in the next book! I will legit cry if this doesn’t happen ☹

Final Rating: 4 Ludovic-can-bite-me-any-day stars

Thank you to Rachel Wu at Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group and Bella Higgin for the advanced copy of this book! The thoughts and opinions expressed above are voluntary and my own.

““Early 2010’s paranormal fiction” vibes, writing and all. “ is what I said in my review for the first book in this series and yeah that still holds up with the second one.

Again it wasn’t BAD and the plot was interesting, the ideas were PROMISING(!), it’s just the writing throwing me off. The switch from 1st to 3rd between POV’s is still as jarring as ever and the writing just didn’t do the actually fun and interesting ideas justice? It’s a lot of “here’s us repeating the same x happened before monologue” and “this is what happened”, very tell not show?

Anyway 3* like the last one and I probably will pick up a further sequel just because it’s an easy read and it did keep me entertained for a few hours.

Revelations, the second book in the Belle Morte series, is an entertaining and easy read, despite some of its simpler qualities. I found that the plot was quite basic, as was the writing style. It wasn't really anything too original, but it was a nice an easy read. If you are looking for Twilight, but less goofy, this might be the book for you. I will say though that my one substantial complaint is that this book is dual POV, and when the chapters switched between characters, it went from first person to third person POV, which I found quite strange. Overall though, this was a pretty enjoyable, simple read that I'm sure some vampire lovers will love.

“If you do fall, I’ll always catch you.”

First I would like to thank Wattpad Webtoon Book Group and NetGalley for allowing me to read an ARC of this book. I am honored to be given the chance to read it and give an honest review.

Revelations is the stunning sequel to Belle Morte, it follows Renie Mayfield who survived the merciless attack on Belle Morte that killed donors and vampires alike, now she is forever changed. She is a vampire, the agonizing transformation of her body and mind is rivaled only by uncovering the horrific truth about her sister, June, who escaped the mansion in her rabid form.

As the vampire responsible for Renie’s change and now her distress, Edmond Dantes remains confined in the secret cells of Belle Morte, awaiting the arrival of the council and the subsequent punishment for his actions. Edmond questions if what he did was right and deeply regrets what has become of his home.

Desperate to free Edmond, find June, and bring justice to whoever is behind the recent violence, Renie is out for blood in more ways than one. The smell of corruption is embedded in the walls of Belle Morte, but behind the walls are even more secrets that may lead to the truth and to justice.

I was beyond excited to read this book and couldn’t wait to start it the moment I was approved for it. Belle Morte has been a favorite of mine for a while and I was very happy to step into the world again to revisit the interesting world and the brilliant characters that Bella Higgin created! The moment I started this book I could not put it down, it drew me in quickly and left me wanting more when each chapter came to an end. Needless to say I was up late into the night reading this book!

I love how unique this world is, which is what really makes it stand out. To see this perfectly structured vampire world fall to shambles around them was very interesting; I really enjoyed seeing how these characters reacted in such a dangerous situation. I thought the character development was very well written, it was nice to see them all come together and forge new bonds and relationships along the way.

Another thing I enjoyed about this book was the quick-wit of the characters; it made all the bantering very amusing. Then there is the continuation of the romance between Renie and Edmond, I adore how they’re each other’s support system and how strong the bond had become between them since Renie was turned. All of the characters were very loveable and very relatable!

I highly recommend this book if you’re interested in unique vampire romances with a lot of action! This book is easily another one of my favorites and I absolutely cannot wait for the next one!

Thank you to Wattpad Books and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

First off, what a gorgeous cover! Revelations by Bella Higgin is the sequel and second book in the Belle Morte series. The story is set in a world where different vampires are treated like royalty and have their own courts/houses. The story revolves around Renie, who has survived her sudden and unexpected transformation from human to vampire. Her true love Edmond has been imprisoned for turning her. Now it's up to Renie to free Edmond, locate her sister June, and find out who the villain behind the recent attacks on Belle Morte is.

Here is a captivating excerpt from Chapter 1, which is from Renie's point of view:

"I drifted in darkness, blind and deaf to anything but the constant, gnawing ache in my stomach. Every so often a warm, sweet liquid slid down my throat and the hunger pangs faded, but never for long. That terrible hunger always surged back, like fire.
Occasionally, there were snatches of awareness: the sensation of cool hands touching my face; the faint murmur of a male voice. At the back of my fevered brain, I was aware that I knew that voice, loved that voice. But then the hunger roared back and everything was lost."

Overall, Revelations is a YA vampire fantasy romance that, in my opinion, was even better than the first book. I liked the first book, but I loved the sequel. Maybe it's because I'm used to the world and know the characters now. One highlight of this book are the exciting and bloody fights, which are more intense than I expected. Another highlight of this book are the amazing romance and plot developments. If you're intrigued by the excerpt above, or if you're a fan of YA fantasy books in general, I highly recommend that you check out this book when it comes out in May!

Nop.

Thank you NetGalley for the chance to read this ARC.

I had been approved for this ARC before I even read Belle Morte. It didn't take me long to read and fall in love with the book. Call me a Vladdict. I'll read any and all vampires.
This book picks up where Belle Morte leaves off. The betrayl rocks the house and ends up destroying the Vampire world as we know it.
To keep this spoiler free, I will have to leave the review pretty bare.
If you loved Belle Morte, you'll love this sequel. If this ends up with one more book, it wouldn't be the worst thing. Things are left open ended and it works though so if this ends as a duology, you'll be satisfied.

Bella Higgin's Revelations was an exciting and thrilling installment in the Belle Morte series and picks up right where we left off in Belle Morte! It's always interesting to see when a series continues if they'll pickup right where you left off or have some time roll by and I have to say I much prefer the former as it makes you feel like you haven't missed out on anything.

Picking up where we left off, Renie is a newly turned vampire and after a harrowing few days of transitioning, she has made it through the worst of it. Only to wake up and learn that Edmond has been imprisoned for turning her, as it's consider a crime in the vampire world to do so without getting permission first. Ysanne had given Edmond the okay to help Renie through the first few days but now must follow the rules she had helped established.

Meanwhile, Etienne and her rabid sister, June are MIA. No one knows where they have went and that will be another issue to be addressed by the Council. When the council arrives to discuss what had happened when June attacked the house and what led to Renie's change, things take a drastic turn. In that, Etienne makes an appearance with a very different story to tell, one that the Council members believed as the truth. Naturally, Renie is outraged! As I was I! Nothing makes me madder when people believe the liar and their lies and take it as truth! So I was raging right alongside Renie but Etienne masterful wove his lies into a believable truth, one that painted Ysanne as the villain.

It's not long before chaos ensues, one that makes Renie, Edmond, Ysanne, Ludovic, and Renie's friends Roux and Jason run for their lives. There are traitors among Ysanne's vampires and they are set to believe in Etienne's lies and turn everyone against the motley crew and paint Ysanne as the ultimate villain. Naturally, the group of vampires and human feeders will have to work together and come up with a way to get Ysanne her House back and expose the truth so that the world at large knows what really happened.

This was definitely an entertaining read for sure! Although, I was fully enraged when everyone just seemed to believe Etienne's lies. Nothing makes me madder when everyone willing believes a liar and won't listen to any other side of the story. I can't explain it, but I feel full on Hulk anger! Lol.

I also enjoyed watching Renie adjust to her new life as a vampire. It's always interesting to see how authors write their vampires as they are all different. Renie has a tough road ahead of her, but adapts fairly well to her new circumstances. The pacing was done very well too as we move seamlessly from one problem to another and all the continuing conflicts that roll along with it.

Renie and Edmond's romance continues to develop. I guess the problem with binge reading is that things seem to move along at a rapid pace relationship wise. While it took a little time to develop in the first book, the attraction was running rampant between them. Now the fire's even hotter and since Renie is running at vampire stamina, well you can imagine hot and heavy things get between them!

I was also really surprised by how this one ended! Things seem like they are at a nice pause and I really ought to not read onto the next book and have to wait another year for the conclusion, but who am I kidding? I'm going to pick it up to discover what the next conflict is and end with a killer cliffhanger! I can feel it! Lol. Things are relatively resolved for now, the main conflicts at least. There are lingering results that will need to be addressed and life as Renie knew it even after becoming a vampire have been irrevocably changed. So yeah, I am definitely looking forward to seeing where things will go from here!

If you're looking for a classic YA Vampire love story rife with action and mystery then I would strongly recommend picking up the Belle Morte series! It's been a delight so far and has such a great vampire storyline going on that I can't help but breeze through the pages.

Let me start by saying that I loved Belle Morte, the concept, the characters, the location (come on it's pretty much a castle) the relationships all of it, so when I heard Revelations was coming out I couldn't wait to get my hands on it.

This book picks up directly after Belle Morte and we see Renie realizing what it will mean to be a vampire both physically and mentally. She was supposed to provide blood to the vampires not become one after all.

On top of all of the changes going on in her mind and her body, she has her sister June to find (hopefully before she's lost forever), Edmond to hopefully set free,  and if that wasn't enough she needs to figure out who was behind the attack on Belle Morte and bring them to justice before her blood lust or something even worse happens.

With secrets that need answers, puzzles that need solutions, secret passages that need exploring, and a murder mystery to solve this book has a little something for everyone and I loved it all.

Our characters are amazing and I'm so happy that they have the same magic and chemistry as the first book.

Dark and sinfully delicious at times this one is a must-read for anyone that loved the first book, seeing where it went, well you need to read it for yourself, I'm just going to say wow, just wow I'm still processing everything and want more.

Finally, can I just say Vladdict is still one of my favorite words to come out of any book in a very long time I'm so glad the term was used again.

Thank you to Wattpad Webtoon Books
and Edelweiss for providing a copy of this ebook I have voluntarily read and reviewed it and all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Let me start off by saying this book really surprised me. Whilst I enjoyed Belle Morte, the first book in this series, I wasn’t too wowed by the plot until the end. But this one! Revelations picks up right where Belle Morte left off and it was non stop action after. One thing after another with sprinklings of spice scenes between Reina and Edmond. They are so cute.

I not a big fan of vampire romances anymore but this one worked for me. There are so many characters to root for throughout but I managed to keep up. The twists was shocking and the revelations was done so well. The friendships and loyalty throughout was beautiful.

I think if you enjoy a paranormal vampire romance thats well written and not much modern slang, with forbidden relationships trope and a strong clever determined female MC then the Belle Morte and especially Revelations is highly recommended!

Thank you to Wattpad and @netgalley for an eArc of this amazing sequel! I can’t wait for what comes next.

Belle Morte ended with a cliffhanger and was super action packed. And we get pulled back into the action right from the start with this book. I adore vampire books and in this book vampires are celebrities and live out in the open. They have donors that feed them without killing them and it's a prestigious job.
From the last book now Renie had infiltrated Bella Morte for information but now she's got a very tight knit crew and something bigger is happening. Oo and the bad guy is gaslighting like crazy! Just telling everyone she did it, it's your word against mine.
What do you do when you know the truth but no one believes you?
This was so action packed as they tried to figure out who was all involved and how widespread it was. Who was really your ally.
Edmund and Renie's relationship grows and becomes stronger.
Loved the dark academia vibes and the vampire hierarchy.

Thank you wattpad for the e-ARC for my honest and voluntary review.

Check out my review on my blog: http://thereadingdevil.blogspot.com/2...

Or read below!

We are back at Belle Morte! Kind of lol. IF YOU HAVEN'T READ BELLE MORTE YET, DON'T READ FURTHER. You've been warned.

So we finished the last book on quite the cliffhanger - Renie's a vampire, Edmond is locked up, and Etienne appears to be the evil mastermind behind it all. This book starts right where we left off and gathers speed from there. I like that it was fast-paced and I loved all the curve ball that get thrown in. There's nothing as exciting as a good plot twist, and this book has them in spades.

I actually really like Renie as a character - she's strong and independent, and doesn't whine and complain. She sort of just learns to accept things, and moves on. It's quite refreshing for a YA series. Edmond is also great - he's sweet and in love, he'd do anything for Renie. I personally prefer my male leads to have a bit of a 'bad boy' streak, but Edmond's loyalty is definitely a draw. I also love the side characters - they added some great aspects to the book.

The writing itself is pretty good - it could use a little bit of tightening, it still comes off as a little bit 'debut-ish' but I can see a lot of potential with the writing style and look forward to following this author to see her progress and growth.

Overall, this is a good book with a unique take on vampires. I'm not sure if this series is going to continue or if it's a duology - it could sort of go either way. I'm satisfied if this is the end, but I would also read a third book if that was happening as well. Either way, decent read that a lot of readers are going to enjoy!

4.5/5 oh my god i don’t know what she puts in her books but they’re so addictive for me to read. I usually fly through them when I have the time. Bella Higgin you are becoming a comfort author. This one was so much faster than the first very action packed and was just captivating from front to back cover. I’m hoping the series continues to be this amazing! Love the side characters too they are my absolute favorites! Also I really wasn’t in love with the main character at the beginning she tends to speak before fully understanding situations but I felt like she really grew throughout the book and I love the author for this.

Thanks to Wattpad for reaching out to me about this ARC and NetGalley for providing it!

A very good conclusion to the chaos and twists left over from Belle Morte. A lot on tackling grief and trauma, learning to accept a new path in life, and fighting for those you love and those who need your help. Lots of beautiful moments, lots of vampires, and great friends.

I always was and will forever be a sucker for a good vampire story.

Right now I am loving all these fantasy vampire stories and the stories behind how they came to be. We meet Renie who has survived an attack on Belle Morte and when she wakes up she has changed she is now a Vampire in a world where Vampires and humans coexist peacefully now. There is a group of Vampires that keeps the balance but what now?
This story has Vampires, romance, action, corruption, politics and more. I enjoyed reading this and the world the author created.
This is book two in this series and it starts off where book one leaves off but the author does give you insight to book one so you can read this as a stand-alone but I do recommend reading Belle Morte first if you can

I hate calling something my guilty pleasure, but that’s what this series is. It’s an addiction; it’s a pleasure; it’s my vampire fix. It’s gives me the first time reading Twilight feels and I love it.
