I appreciate that this book exists, and I am glad that I own it, but I felt the individual parts failed to cohere as a unified work; in addition, while the content being written in four languages is an interesting touch that allows the images to be spread over more pages without textless deserts, the content is sparse, and I didn’t really need this book to function as a rosetta stone

Een fascinerend boek over publicaties over kleur. Vooral ook boeiend hoe kleuren gepresenteerd werden in vroege publicaties. De kleuren die in de wereld zichtbaar waren waren niet zomaar in pigmenten te vangen.
Veel prachtige afbeeldingen.
Wat totaal ontbreekt is inhoudelijke toelichting op de kleurtheorieën, modellen en visuele representaties. Een groot gemis. Er is per publicatie maar 1 pagina aan toelichting, vooral biografie en historische duiding. Boek heeft veel tekst doordat alles er in vier talen in staat.
