What I enjoyed most about this book was the ending and the plot.
Plot * What a tangled web this was. So many layers and characters. Full of twists and turns. Just the way I like it. You cant tell who is telling the truth as there is so many characters involved.
Ending * I loved how we didnt find out the truth until right at the very end. That actually made the book for me .
This book is about toxic relationships, dysfunctional families and secrets and lies.

Starting off the book with the main character's husband completely gaslighting her. He's cheated before(twice with the same woman). He comes home late at night smelling like perfume and gets texts all night long. Then he turns around that if she checks his phone that she doesn't trust him. Yeah, dude it's already established that she doesn't trust you. You have to work back up to being trusted, which he is not doing. I'd be checking that phone even more after him saying that. He then turns it even more around that she hasn't been herself because her mom died.
The author does a great job at showing the readers how Leah is able to dismiss so many red flags when it comes to her husband as well as there being someone in her mom's house. She always has a reason other than what it is to come up with.
I keep wondering if they (her husband & Charlotte) is trying to get her money.
Him acting like the victim when he redirects the blame to be about her and changes the whole subject.
When she gets the phone from Cain I was so excited. Oh but then she gets interrupted.
Omg she had a child but she died - but she says she was not living when she was born. But she gave birth to the baby at her home and her mother took the baby away. {shocked}
I do not trust Zara. Now she gets a friend request from an Allison. Hmmmm. I now wonder if Zara is the one that was one in the room when she gave birth. She was probably promised the house and money but was upset when the money was left to Lia.
Okay so it's obvious that Cain is cheating. He just got a text asking if he is coming. One of the signs of someone cheating on you is them picking a fight with you and then taking off.
I'd be DAMNED if I shake hands with my rapists just so my cheating husband can land a successful deal. I'd be out at that moment. She doesn't need him.
-------CHARLOTTE'S POV-------
I didn't understand how fast Charlotte was to accept that she was adopted just because she didn't have a birth certificate. She never brings it up to her parents to ask about it or anything.
At this point it's where Jean tells Charlotte that she has to visit her daily while she's dying and she'll pay her too that it became the plot of The Whale .
Jean is terrible. I swear she's horrible.
Book slows down once we get to Charlotte's pov.

Wow, the ending all become convoluted.
We find out that this is all about Darren and the rape he committed that resulted in Angel being born. I guess they wanted to torment Lia when it came out how her daughter was. It was pretty confusing at this point. It's weird that Angel was more than okay with her parents kidnapping her from Leah and pretending that she was their child - going as far as wearing a fat belly to make out like it was the child they had already lost.
Oh and Cain is cheating with Allison again and meeting up with her. So, throw Cain away please.
In the end all of this pointless because they just let we Leah live and go on her marry way.
The bones are explained in the flower bed is that Jean must have found a dead deer and then buried it and then in her cancer-induced dying brain remembered 18 years ago she buried a dead deer there. Which has to be the dumbest explanation of bones in a yard I've ever heard of. Sigh.
We find out Zara did sleep with Cain at the beginning. So this whole time she kept it rather than telling her the truth. And of course Leah forgives her. Leah forgives everyone.
Oh and Angel killing Jean with a pillow was a surprise I didn't see but then saying she's going to kill her own father - yes please
Final Thoughts:
What happened to this book? In the beginning of it I was so enthralled with the writing I was obsessed with what was going on and then it just dropped. It seemed to get more and more confusing and pointless. Pretty much by the ending it made zero sense and went nowhere. Nothing happened to Leah. We thought she was going to be killed but then they decided to not kill her and she just lives. Odd.

This is a combination of a family drama and an intriguing mystery. The story is heartbreaking, compelling and extremely unpredictable. The narrator expertly brings the story to life while adding emotion and intensity to this well crafted tale. There were several twists throughout, and the final twist was jaw dropping.Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Select for my audiobook.

Not a bad thriller.
It's starts with one pov of a woman who thinks her husband is cheating on her.
Turns out the book isn't about infidelity.
It's a mystery about a young girl who's trying to find her birth parents.
Very twisty because the second pov is unknown.
I liked how this was written and how it ended.
I'll be reading more from this author

Every family has secrets.
And there is no shortage of secrets on the quiet street showcased in this book.
When 18-year-old Charlotte knocks on a couple's front door looking for her biological parents, the revelation of secrets begins.
Although I was intrigued by the book's premise and almost always enjoy "secret" thrillers, this book quickly fizzled.
The book's pacing was S-L-O-W and the twists were predictable.
I listened to the audiobook read by Annette Chown. The narration was good but not great.

On a Quiet Street by Carla Kovach is a standalone novel from the author of the Detective Gina Harte books. As a huge fan of that series, my expectations were high for this one, though I must admit that it just didn't click for me.
Leah and her husband Cain have their quiet existence blown apart when eighteen year old Charlotte comes knocking on their door, claiming to be searching for her biological parents. Leah immediately suspects that she must be Cain's daughter, whose existence he has never mentioned. But when Charlotte reveals information about Leah, Cain's suspicious wife will have the tables turned, wondering if the secrets from her own past will threaten her comfortable life.
While this is certainly a solid read, I had a difficult time connecting with any of the characters in a meaningful way, though I suspect that I will be an outlier here. 3.5 stars

Leah and Cain are a couple, but Leah thinks that Cain is having an affair. After he comes home several times late smelling of perfume. Leah also has a shock when a young woman knocks on the door claiming to be her daughter. But when she was 16 Leah had a still born baby that they buried in her estranged mothers garden. So, who is this girl, and can she really be her daughter?
I am a big fan of the authors Detective Gina Harte Harte, So I was excited to receive this standalone novel ‘The quiet street’. Unfortunately, her latest book didn’t entertain me as her others have previously. I struggled with this story. I didn’t like Leah much as a character and didn’t know why she kept making excuses for Cain. I would have left him for sure. I got confused in the 2nd half of the book with its different POV’s in each chapter that I couldn’t work out who was who until end of the story. 3 stars from me.

What a delightful, and creepy, little gem this is! ON A QUIET STREET is a domestic thriller with all the psychological chills that lend a sinister and eerie air to the tale. Packed full of lies upon lies and a wealth of secrets, deceit and unlikeable characters, it was really hard to know who to trust.
Leah and her husband Cain live a quiet life on a quiet street in a quiet village. But with Cain's late night meetings and hidden text messages, Leah is suspicious of his behaviour. And she has reason to for many years before Cain had a six month fling with their then neighbour who, upon discovery, upped and left disposing her house in a quick sale.
So now, is it any wonder that Leah is suspicious of his behaviour which bears a striking resemblance to when he was cheating on her. She smells the strange perfume on him and his continual cancellation of plans they've made for another "late meeting", Leah is sure Cain is at it again. The question is, with who?
And then one day a stranger knocks on their door searching for her biological parents and Leah immediately suspects that Cain had fathered a child with their neighbour during their fling and this 18 year old woman had now come in search for answers. But when the woman, Charlotte, reveals that it's Leah she's looking for, the tables are turned and she wonders whether the secrets that she's been hiding for the past two decades are about to come to the surface threatening her now comfortable life.
I love this author's Gina Harte series and have enjoyed one or two of her standalones. But this one is one of her best, despite its slow start and rather unlikeable characters. It is hard to connect with anyone as they really are unlikeable. Leah is irritating for the most part with her constant suspicions and sniping at Cain. And Cain? Well, anyone could see right through his lies as she tried to weasel his way out of every lie Leah caught him in. Her mother was horrible, the neighbour was just as horrible, the three teenage girls were sneaky.
But what made this story work so well was the way Kovach delivered it. First, from Leah's perspective, then "the girl's" as she slowly revealed every plot twist until it all fell into place. And then that final page was just a perfect ending.
This was a most enjoyable read that addictive from the very first and I couldn't put it down until I got to the very end, devouring the book in one sitting.

This story had so many twists and turns it was hard to keep it all straight at times, but I really enjoyed the story. I felt Leah's pain and Angel's need to find out the truth. I particularly enjoyed the ending, which has one more twist.

On a Quiet Street by Carla Kovach is a thrilling book about the power of secrets and lies. Leah is at home where she and her husband live when there's a knock at the door. Leah answers the door to find a young woman standing there. Charlotte is 18 years old and tells Leah that she was adopted as a baby and is looking for her biological parents. Charlotte says that she was told she could find them at this address. Leah suspects that Cain is cheating on her and immediately wonders if this girl could be his. Leah agrees to meet Charlotte the next day at a coffee shop to find out more. She doesn't want to alert Cain as of yet.
Leah has been keeping a big secret since she was 16 years old. She's never told anyone about it and never plans to. After meeting with Charlotte it becomes clear that her secret might come to light and it could destroy everything. It could also be the best thing to ever happen to Leah. Why did Leah's estranged mother meet with Charlotte before her prolonged death from cancer? Leah hadn't seen her mother in years. What lies did her mother tell Charlotte? Is Charlotte out to get something from Leah? As Leah is cleaning out her mother's home after her death, a lot of bad memories begin to surface. Why does the neighbor keep coming over and telling Leah to leave? Why does she have a key to Leah's mother's house? Why is someone stalking Leah and trying to scare her with horrifying text messages? Someone knows her secret and will do anything to keep it a secret.

ARC audiobook provided in exchange for an honest review.
The narration on this book really helped bring this story to life! All the characters were portrayed so well and it was easy to follow along with and listen to quickly. The story felt fairly straightforward at first but did throw a few curveballs that I never saw coming! There’s lots of deception and misdirection which I love, because who wants to know exactly where the story is headed?!? I would recommend to anyone who likes psychological thrillers and mysteries!

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC (Advance Reader Copy) of On a Quiet Street by Carla Kovach. This was a good domestic thriller that kept me engaged the entire time that I was reading it. It is a thriller about secrets. It is about lies, and lots of them. The story is written in multiple parts with each part a different person's perspective. It was very enjoyable and I would recommend it to others. I gave it a 4 star rating.

I usually love this authors book. That said this one didn't hit the mark for me. I had a hard time getting into it. And just frustrated she was not leaving her husband. Not sure if she did in the end as I didn't get there sadly.
I think this book you will either love or be in the middle like me

I enjoyed this book fir the most part, though it had a slow start and the writing style was a little stilted. The story centers on Leah, who is struggling with her husband Cain when 18 year old Charlotte shows up at the fire and claims to be Leah’s long lost child. The book is told initially from Leah’s POV, then from the child’s, and lastly from both.
It was hard to like Leah after the way she put up with Cain’s treatment of her. I haven't read anything by this author so I wasn't sure what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised by this story. I thought this was great and it gets 4.5 stars from me!
Would recommend if you love:
-multi-POV
-twists and secrets throughout
-badass FMCs
-some thrilling moments and edge-of-your-seat tension
Told in several parts, the first two main parts are one: from the POV of wife Leah and two: from the POV of "the girl"
I wanted to punch Cain so much during Part One when Leah is the narrator. What an annoying, frustrating man. Leah knows he is cheating on her, and to make her life more complicated, teenage Charlotte comes knocking claiming to believe her biological parent(s) live at her address. This section was wild, Leah is badass and would go to lengths to figure out what is happening in her life.
When we switch to Part Two the POV changes to "the girl" which is Charlotte or one of her friends that are always together (and the ones that showed up at Leah's house).
Later parts switch POV between the two and this is when shit gets CRAZY. You'll have to suspend your disbelief a bit because some of these characters do some questionable stuff. BUT overall I really enjoyed this story and it kept me on the edge of my seat throughout.
The narrator was great and put enough emotion into this to really pull me in!

Lee doesn’t trust her husband came due to past dalliances , so when a girl shows up claiming Lee’s house is where her biological parents live she immediately thinks it must be Cain‘s daughter when the girl explains to Lee that her mom Jean told her everything Lee is shocked. She believes her mom even at the time of her death wanted to ruin her life from beyond the grave and this is the reason this girl is there but because she knows things and she has items that prove what she saying Lee decides to meet her at a local restaurant. When Lee arrives she asked the girl to take a DNA test which the girl agrees to. Soon however Lee is getting threatening texts telling her to stop looking in to the girls story. It doesn’t help that she has to go clean out her moms house because being there only brings up bad memories that she would rather not think about. Nor does it help when she finds A lone daffodil left on the bed in her childhood room. She immediately leaves knowing she has a stalker and with the threatening notes and texts it all just becomes too much but doesn’t stop her from wanting to find out the truth but will she live to learn what really is going on? I really did like this book more than I disliked it I especially liked how she told her best friend Zara everything I also really liked Lee and the teenage girl and was totally rooting for them but I didn’t like how weak Lee was when it came to Kane. I do however know how it is when you want to be wrong about something you know deep down inside you’re absolutely right about. This is a solid read and although they do have a few I Rowling moments it’s still entertaining and quite thrilling. I want to thank Bookoucher and Net Galley for my free Ark copy please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

Wow, wow, and more wow!!!!! I couldn’t put this one down for the life of me. I read this in just a few sittings. I had to finish it and quick. I’m so glad I did. That ending was shocking and left me totally speechless with all the twists and turns it had. I thought my head was going to explode by the end. This was another fantastic read by this fantastic author. I just love her books so much. She does such a great job of keeping the reader gripped and on the edge of your seat throughout the entire book. I think it has a lot to do with all the well written characters in them. In this book each character had a purpose and each of them brought out different emotions. That made this one great. Now let’s talk plot. Secrets and lies, what could be more intriguing than that. Not much in my opinion. Last up is that heart attack of an ending. I couldn’t believe it. Never would I have ever guessed that in a million years. I knew something big was going on but OMG when I found out what it was. It all came full circle in the end. I will definitely be reading more by this author.
In conclusion, the plot, the characters and all the twists in this book made this book an enjoyable read. I would definitely recommend it and happily give it 5 Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

This was ok, not great. I think it lacked an overall plot development. The first couple chapters was really good and I was hooked on what was happening but then it seemed to veer and get progressively more confusing. The story went into too many directions. I didn’t think the ending connected to the beginning.

This was a really interesting book! It had great twists and turns, and the ending tied everything up very nicely. It got more intense as I drew closer to the end, and it was hard to put it down. I would recommend for sure!

There was a spark of interest in chapter 14 but not enough to keep me going. This is currently my only audiobook so I'm just gonna continue in the car and when I have to clean. I should abandon it because I recently noticed it has the tagline "An absolutely gripping and totally addictive psychological thriller with a heart-stopping twist." If I had seen that beforehand I'd never have gotten this book but the writing was so tiny I didn't notice. I have never read a book with that tagline that was even a thriller let alone psychological what they mean is a boring slightly suspenseful novel with a big reveal you'll be unimpressed by. So far it fits the type.

I struggled to finish this one. It was slow and I was prepared for it to be okay but I wasn't prepared for Part 3. The writing was very juvenile and repetitive. There was a summary every few minutes for the comprehension of a 6-year-old and it was very annoying. People would talk and then Angel would explain as if we're idiots who can't follow the story. Once the reveals happened, with no twists, the plot got weaker and weaker. The only redemption was parts 3 & 4 were so terrible it was almost humorous. I knew I should have abandoned this but I also wanted to complete it.
Recommend to others: Nope. Save your time.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this book early. This is a "thriller" about 2 different women whose lives intersect in interesting ways. First we get the perspective of Leah. Her estranged mother just died so she's tasked with going through her house and a lot of her own secrets are coming out. She's also married to a man who has cheated before and is overall just icky. Then we get the perspective of Angel. She is looking for her biological mother after a woman who claimed to be her grandmother told her more information than she ever knew. She didn't realize she was adopted so she's on a journey of self discovery. The 2 paths are intertwined of course and there is a mastermind that lied, cheated and stole to cover their own tracks. It was all very basic and never had much tension. The book was fine but the motive was meh and the execution didn't really make sense. Overall this was entertaining enough while I read it, but I won't remember it long.
SPOILERS AHEAD: Leah got pregnant through rape. She was told her baby was stillborn but it was actually not. The rapists mom took her and gave her to friends because she didn't think the "kids" needed the baby. This is my first book of this author and I really loved the story/plot/twists. Even if it was a bit slow at first and I was irritated with one character not standing up for themselves, it did pick up in the second part ! I really loved the ending.

Packed full of lies, deceit and unlikeable characters, I enjoyed this book and didn’t trust any of them. Unfortunately, though, that meant I didn’t particularly warm to anybody and found it hard to get behind Leah and her quest for the truth.

You'll read this book in one day! Well, one day if your day ends at 1:30 a.m. because you HAVE TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS!
This was such a complex mystery, of identity, he said, she said, cheating husband, lying husbands, wives, and mothers! There was a stalker, threatening texts, and break-ins.
Kovach takes us on a whirlwind quest to find out who Charlotte is, if Leah is her mother, and if Leah did what her mother said she did. There was a little repetition in the retelling from different points of view, but that by no means took away from the horrible truths that are unveiled.

The book was OK and would give it 2.5 stars. I'm so conflicted with my feelings. I enjoyed parts of the book(Part 1) and some not so much(Part 3 and the ending). It just seems like everything was taken to the extreme and way over the top. Some of these people's actions were so dramatic? Why would you want to kill so many people for something that happened almost twenty years ago? Leah wasn't even going around talking about it. Plus, no one believed her, not even her own mother. She wouldn't even be able to prove it in court. The only witness is dead. So these people were just being crazy for the sake of being crazy. Did they really think they would get away with murdering so many people? They weren't masterminds and left DNA everywhere. I didn't love any of the characters. Leah went from living with a horrible mother to living with a terrible husband. I'm pretty sure every time Cain's lips were moving, he was lying.
Definitely recommend giving the book a try, it just wasn't for me. The story definitely kept me guessing because I had no idea who was behind everything or why. I love the Detective Gina Harte series. Look forward to reading more books by the author.

On a Quiet Street is a psychological thriller that consumed all my attention while I dive into the story of Leah and Cain. It’s such a twisted story with so many twists and turns that I didn’t saw coming. The book is divided in different parts with a dual POV.
The plot was so intricate created, and the characters so deeply described it was the perfect read. The number of secrets and suspense were the cherry on the top. Somewhere along the journey I didn’t know who knew something and who was hiding information. It was an interested ride on a roller-coaster of intrigue, suspense, and domestic drama.
I really recommend it since it’s not a predictable story, I could not how it was going to end and the fact that the story is told in a dual perspective really added to the story, making it more immersive and keeping me so engaged with the characters and their relationships while unravelling their secrets.

This was a quick moving, solid read for me. It wasn’t anything that blew my mind, but there were plenty of twists and turns throughout the book that kept me interested. There were times when I felt like the story was a bit redundant, but other than that I thoroughly enjoyed reading it!
