Miya, an illegitimate child of the Kounokura family, continues her days living with her less-than-wicked stepmother and stepsisters. And now that her precocious cousin Yaeko has integrated herself into Miya’s daily routine, her family ties just keep on growing. But just as she’s starting to get the hang of things, a new challenge appears...in the form of an academic exam! Will Miya make the grade? And just who are these scary society ladies calling themselves the Four Heavenly Queens? Find out in the third volume of this fairytale turned on its head!
It was high time to continue this series and boy did I have fun with this volume. Sure, at times I wish Miya had a bit more confidence by now, but haha, I can also not fault her. Her stepmother/sisters are a tad scary and at times say some interesting things in the wrong way. I am still happy that Miya is growing up and getting more and more happy with her new family. Plus, I also love seeing Yaeko and learn more about her, she is a cute addition to the series. Plus, I also loved that gathering and what Mommy did there. Oh, and the extras were just fab! Gun-chan!
But not in a negative way. Rather, it continues to be heartwarming slice-of-life goodness that I enjoy. This volume has more side character POV, which is nice as well.
I get that the stepfamily appears to be wicked, but they aren't. This bit gets a bit boring, though. I wished we could learn something more substantial about everyone.
