The last thing Scarlett expected after taking a midnight dip in the ocean on her 18th birthday, was to be pulled out of it. Not only was she captivated by her 'saviour' but also by his four best mates. Five big, broody and drop-dead gorgeous guys straight off a plane from America.Dawson, Nicky, Pike, Sonny and Dacre.Five men that very quickly stole her heart and in return, she stole theirs.Meeting them was fate.Falling in love with them was destiny. But their betrayal? Downright heartbreaking. It was only meant to be a summer romance though... right?
Why choose grease retelling.. yep sold! I loved this book! I think it sets up the series quite nicely. You get to know the characters and you get to fall Inlove with them and see their love start!
I love Scar and all the guys. This book had great banter, amazing aussie humour and great spice!
It does end on a cliffhanger so prepare for that. And it’s a doozy of a cliffhanger. My heart 😣 I NEED the next book now!
be warned... this book ends on a cliffy and youll want to devour the next book asap!
In short this book is everything i ever needed in a Grease retelling. Each character is so thought out and unique from the others. I can see how much im going to love each one of the 5 men in this book.
Plot: I can see the bigger plot coming together and i know the next books are going to be on the darker side but i loved this funny, sunny beach rom com before the dark and gritty story really comes in. Plus alexcis gave me just enough info to make me stay awake making up my own cospiracy theories and leave me with more questions.
Spice: You would think a MFMMMM book would be full of it but even though it is a insta love kinda book it didnt feel rushed or fake. There is a reason they all feel at ease with eachother and i cant wait ti dive into the more. But the flirty nature of these men was just right and the level of spice wasnt overwelhming and i cant wait for more as the series continues.
Characters: Scarlet is a fun, whitty and easy going aussie girl. the banter between her and the guys had me in stitches. The AUSSIE-ness sprinkledc throught this book was so fun it felt like i was reading about my life at times (execpt the part about having 5 hot guys panting over me). We all have played the drop bear prank on every tourist we have ever met. But Scarlet does have trauma of her own as does the men, i cant wait to explore that more as the series goes on.
All in all i loved this book and can not wait for more from our thunderbirds!!!
Wow where do I begin?! I absolutely loved this! This book had me crying, screaming, giggling and kicking my feet! 1: the Aussie slang and banter *chefs kiss 2: I find with most RH the female has a clear favourite/one she sends more time with..this was refreshing to see all had equal time. 3: Sonny aka papi could get it 👁🫦👁 Patiently waiting for Greased to come out! Cause that cliffhanger got me! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👏🏼
This book is very different to what I’m use to reading and I am not mad. I laughed, cried and then nearly threw my kindle cause of the cliffhanger. So I guess will call that rage! HA.
Summer nights was light, fast paced, little spice and some dark trauma/subjects. And the kissing, mouthwatering little spice here and there was perfect for the beginning of this series.
Being Australian myself, Scar had me hooked from the first sentence. She is a little firecracker with a sad past but I just adored her and to see her relationships grow was just so good.
The Men… my god the men. 5 Americans, tattoos, bike gang, past traumas and all worship Scar like their life depends on it.. and maybe it does but won’t know till book 2 cause GOD DAM CLIFFHANGER!
Yeah, I need book 2 (GREASED) like today.
I’m so excited to see where Alexcis Morris takes this series. I’m HOOKED.
Scarlett falls in love over summer not with 1 guy, but 5 traveling Americans.
Who are visiting Australia, as a break from their motorcycle club.
I liked the Aussie references throughout the book. The story started off abit slow, but I’m definitely invested to see where this story goes next in the series.
I not sure if it’s just because it not my genre or is it just the book itself but this was a struggle for me. Bought the book as I meet the author when she visited Perth and always love supporting local Aussie author particularly less known ones, but just really struggled with this book. Found little to non plot and very repetitive especially with the slang.
Wow! Just wow! I dont know what I was expecting with this, but Oh Em Gee! I am so excited for the next book! I was constantly on the edge of my seat, wondering which one of the guys she was going to end up with. That cliffhanger ending has me reeling for more of the 5 god-like americans and the one true blue aussie girls story! Amazing story 5 out of 5 for me!
This book was nothing like I expected, and it surprised me in so many ways. One thing that stuck out to me about this book, is that it is created for a very niche audience (and I do wonder how well this book is targeted towards that). The premise of the stories is decent, and I think overall, there is some good potential for later in the plot if we get to see more of the gang side of things, which would also very much help to tie in a few themes. The book is clearly meant to be character-driven and kind of lacks any real plot because of this. The beginning was quite slow in my opinion, and I was really having a hard time connecting with the story and connecting with the characters, as the romance between all the characters was just too unbelievable where I could not picture myself in the story. After some time, when the depths of the characters were beginning to be explored, this did change and I got right into the book for a little bit there. To start with, I was very confused over differentiating all of the male characters, but I feel this definitely did start to become clearer and more distinct towards the ending that definitely contributed to my enjoyment of the book. Oh, I really think the author did a great job with fleshing out the side characters as well! I actually really liked them and their stories, and especially how their relationships with our MC was portrayed! The ending was a bit rushed, and I really wish this could have been drawn out and explored more just as it felt impossible for the book to be drawn to a close so soon. I also don't think there were enough hints throughout the book about where the rest of the series would lead exactly which had me kind of lost. One thing the author did great was the description of place and setting. These all felt very real and imaginable, and all very Australian which captured that vibe very well. The timeframe was a little over the place, and at times this worked well, where at others it didn't, especially towards the ending when it all felt slightly rushed. The Australian slang was way overdone, and I am sure many people will be taken out of the book by this. It could have been toned down whilst still keeping the same representation of our culture, I feel. I actually do wonder how much of it was the use of slang though, as I think it could have been more about how every time it was used, the exact same description of the reactions of the characters happened, where the Americans were confused and then the Australian was like why they looking at me like that? and then was like oh, that means this. It just got slightly predictable and unenjoyable because of this. A lot of unconventional stylistic writing conventions were adopted, and this did impact my ability to get drawn into the writing and really enjoy it (especially as another author who picks up on things like this a lot more), but overall, it was never anything too drastic. I think if a more experienced and professional editor is hired for the later books in this series, that the writing could really be taken to the next level and this could so easily make the book more enjoyable and realistic. The author's writing could use a little development, but it does hold potential in that they so clearly see their story. I'm sure they will come to produce some good, enjoyable reads with more experience and development. I think overall, I would go back for the second book, just given the plot twist that came at the end of this one, but this would really be the deciding point about whether I read further into the series.

On Scarlett's 18th birthday, the last thing she expected was to be 'rescued' from her midnight dip by five handsome American men. Granted, she was absolutely blotto so she could understand why they were worried that she was drowning. She also didn't expect her drunk self to offer to be their Australian tour guide while they're in Yeppoon for the month, but she did. Sunny, summer days spent showing them her favourite places, teasing them with drop bear jokes and watching as they slowly stole her heart. Little did she know, she stole theirs as well. The betrayal that tears Scarlett's still beating heart from her chest, leaves her gasping, confused and hurt. In the end, it was just a summer fling, right?
When I saw this was a why choose romance inspired by Grease, I couldn't help but sign up. Even though I didn't really have the time or space in my schedule to add another book, but I did because who could say no?
It took me a little bit to get through it because I've had a full-on couple of weeks, but as soon as I had the chance I sat down and devoured this. It starts when Scarlett first meets the guys while taking a drunk skinny dip. I instantly liked Scarlett. She's sassy and so down to Earth and, for lack of a better term, so Aussie that I enjoyed it thoroughly. I thought all the guys were fantastic, but Dacre was my favourite, and I had a really hard time not picturing Sonny from the Grease movie, as Sonny hahahahaha. But I'm working on it.
The first half of the book read like a fun summer, slice of life kinda vibe. Then we get a little bit deeper into the story and begin to learn more about the characters and their pasts, and this is where it really grabbed me and dragged me in. I feel like I've already worked out some of the things that are yet to come, but that doesn't mean that I am not hanging to read it! I can not WAIT to get my hands on the next book because I NEED TO KNOW! I NEED TO EXPERIENCE IT AND I NEED TO KNOW IF I'M RIGHT AND WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN ABOUT THAT!!!!!!! I'm okay, I'm fine, I promise *deep breaths*.
Morris has done a fantastic job at writing a new adult, why choose romance that does give me a sprinkling of Grease vibes, but in all honesty, I feel like this story can really stand tall on it's own merit, without living in the shadow of Grease. It has the potential and is already a page turner. I loved getting to see the character relationships evolve, and though it was only a month's time span, it felt like it was so much longer. This didn't give me insta-love vibes, which is fantastic, especially when the timeline for the story is so short.
All in all, this was a fantastic series opener, and I can't wait to see what happens next. The pacing did drag a little in the beginning because it really had that slice of life feel, which is fantastic if that's what you're in the mood for. Once certain details are woven into the storyline, that's when my interest was piqued. And even though the characters are all around the age of 18, they don't read like it, which works well for me, considering I'm almost 40. I am keen as for the next book, when's the release date again? hahahaha.
Much like Alexcis and most Australians I know my mother was obsessed with grease. Honestly probably the only musical my mother watched over and over again so it was always playing in our house.
The summer fling storyline is always so fun and exciting but this story takes to the next level. Seeing places I could easily imagine because it's so much like my own town is so fun and brings new elements to a story telling.
It was always so exciting to see an Aussie on the big screen as well. So having Scar be so unapologetically australian is poetic to me.
After a night out drinking for her birthday Scarlett decides (a little stupidly) to go for a midnight dip in the ocean ... all alone. Even if your not from Australia surely you know just how crazy our oceans can get - hello Bondi rescue.
Thankfully for her she is rescued by the first of five manly, tattooed, beautiful, tortured American souls visiting her home town.
The five boys she didn't even know she needed deep in her soul. Sonny, Pike, Dacre, Dawson and Nicky are the men of my dreams just as much as they are Scarlett's.
From that moment on the whirlwind summer romance begins. I will admit that if you don't like insta love then this might be too short of a book for you because their love is quick and all encompassing.
As I read this book I felt like I knew what the twist ending would be ... I thought I had clicked everything together but then ... of course ... Alexcis had to completely flip the switch.
She ripped out my heart after some of the most romantic quotes ever with the most heartbreaking quote. THE END !!!????
Now like everyone else that has read it I am sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for the official book 1 of the Thunderbird's Series
If you like banter you will love this book! Banter galore.
This is the prequel novella for Thunderbird series. Set in Australia with a lot of Australian aspects, it’s extra Australian. Lots of the stereotypes etc chucked in. So I liked the Australian slang guide at front for people who weren’t Australian.
Aussie girl Scarlet drunkenly meets 5 god like Americans who are instantly obsessed. In a drunken haze our FMC is like yep yep I will be the tour guide for these dreaming as guys because everyone deserves a proper guide! Whilst showing them around we get to see some character development of each character. All worried by the expectations of the future. Can this month here in Australia influence that future?
This book isn’t dark but the next books definitely will be. So this may seem more fluffy and flirty but there is some darkness in store 😈
There were bits that were harder to get through. The relationships and story felt rushed at times when time passed. But it’s novella so it doesn’t have much time. I look forward to the series for things to be fleshed out a bit more.
I like where the story is going and have some theories. I look forward to see how the series goes and seeing Alexcis grow as a writer. There are aspects you can tell is a debut but there is a huge amount of potential. The base is there and I look forward to more.
Also girlllll wear a god Dayum helmet 🤣
ALSO ends on a cliffy, because who doesn’t love a cheeky cliffhanger.
Great debut from Alexcis Morris and I look forward to more of her work and the thunderbird series!
Thanks for Books and B!tches for my ARC copy, this is my totally honest and awesome opinions!
Let me start by saying, I got sick during reading this & that’s why it took so long to finish- other than at the last 20% forcing myself to slow down because I didn’t want it to end.
THIS BOOK ENDS WITH A BRUTAL CLIFFHANGER.
Please, as always, check TW & CW for this. It’s not super dark, but does contain sexually explicit scenes.
HOLY. BATMAN. I was reminded why I love why choose so much haha. These guys are a whole dream. They are sweet, salty, sexy… literally perfect. I love that Scarlett has such a complex back story. I loved the fact that the guys are your typical “mafia bad boys” but with her they are literal golden retriever teddy bears. UGH, CAN I HAVE THEM FOR MYSELF?! And I loved LOVED the fact that they had relationships with her friends and did things outside of the normal just them, ya know? I see that so much and I really loved this part. This is a slow, slow burn, but SO worth it.
Alexcis Morris, you officially have me in a chokehold and I’m gonna need book 2 A S A P. This book was well written (and I totally loved the Aussie touch!). This is 100% one you wanna go preorder right now so that you can read it as soon as it drops! I AM OBSESSED WITH IT.
The only *negative* feedback I have is that I finished it and NEED more.
I turned that last fucking page and saw “the end” and I thought I was gonna die. I literally stared at my phone and flipped back and forth trying to figure out if I was missing some pages because
WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT
no no no no no no no NO
NO NO NO
IT CANNOT END LIKE THAT
WHAT THR FUCK HAPPENED
CAN I SUE FOR EMOTIONAL DISTRESS
OUR POOR BABY SCARLETT.
imma go to war over her and as much as I absolutely loved those boys (fucking hell I want myself a harem) I will DESTROY them if they don’t have a good fucking reason for the shit they pulled on her.
I’m gonna fucking cry.
I need Greased like ASAP. NOW. YESTERDAY.
preferably now
So.
Now that my thoughts are out of the way…
This book could benefit from another round or two with an editor. There’s a ton of spelling errors (to vs too vs two is a big one), punctuation errors (mostly commas), etc. and the text messages cut themselves off at the right side of my screen… not sure if that’s just a formatting issue or what but… just something the author deserves to know. I could make out what was being said, but words were cut off.
Some Tropes: 🐨 MMMMF 🏍️ Young Adult 🐨 Funny Banter 🏍️ Motorcycle Club
The Characters:
Scarlett just turned 18 and with the pressure of deciding on her future weighing on her, she decides to work and take her time to decide what she wants to do with her life.
Dacre, Sonny, Dawson, Pike, and Nicky are all a part of a motorcycle club in America. It is their legacy to take over the club positions when their fathers step down and the weight of those decisions weigh heavily on them.
My Opinion:
I am not a happy camper. The ending, really?! That cliffhanger made my heart sink 😭 I am not ok. WHAT?!
I thought the story was great. It progressed quickly, but I didn’t think it progressed without good relationship growth between the characters. It is a very slow burn, but a great read. The banter, the Aussie jokes and stories, and the Australian slang really made the book that much better.
I need whatever books are left in this series to be released yesterday. 🥲 I NEED to know what happens because I am feeling hostile right now 😂
I give credit to Alexcis on her first book, it’s a daunting task (and not something I can do!). She has really tried to bring in some Aussie slang and banter, however it was just a bit too much. Also I felt our FMC was only 18 but her internal dialogue and maturity was more mid 30’s than just barely legal teen.
The storyline has promise to develop with the future books and I hope the characters grow as well. Although they sound “old” to me already. I didn’t really get a sense of the actual age of the male characters apart from Darce.
I am also not really one for the instant “loved up”, love of our life’s romance. And it was a bit “mushy” for my tastes.
There are some dark themes mentioned and certainly there is more to the story of Scarlett’s accident and memory loss. Also there is no reason given as to why the guys choose such an obscure location for a “holiday”, again obviously more to it than meets the eye.
It will be interesting to see how the story takes a new turn in the next book.
this book!!!! Holy crap, you couldn't read something better. The banter had my crying of laughter. The ending killed me because now I have to wait to find out more to the story (there better be a follow up book or 4 haha) I fell in love with Pike, Nicky, Dacre, Dawson & Sonny in an instant. Nicky's terrified demeanour of drop bears (Koalas) had me in stitches, had to put my kindle down to compose myself and instantly laughed the moment I started reading again. This book is written beautifully. I loved that you kept the Aussie slang in it and had a page at the start for international readers. I'm super glad I applied to get an Advanced copy of this book. I've grown up watching the Grease movie and it's something my brother and myself still love to this day. I hadn't even finished reading the book before I jumped on your website and instantly bought the paperback merch box. Exceptional, you should be so proud of yourself girl!!!

Oh…my… word….!!! What a debut - big congrats to you Alexcis Morris. Summer Nights had the characters, the backstories, the plots, the mouthwatering f0repl@y and the cliffhanger - what the actual. I am dying to read the follow up (Greased)! If you’re not familiar with Aussie slang, and a lot of it, this may take you a little to get in the swing of reading - but well worth it. Scar is a firecracker, funny, vulnerable and non-apologetic for what she wants in life. And her 5 - yes you read that right - 5 hot, tatted American boys (Nicky, Sonny, Pike, Dacre and Dawson) are everything, with their collective past trauma, biker world they’re entrenched in, brotherhood and obsessive possessiveness. Hot, hot, HOT! (This is fiction, we love red flags 😉) Story 5 ⭐️ Spice 2 🌶️ (this is only the warm-up to what I can only imagine is going to be mind-blowing, but it was done well) I’m HOOKED and can’t wait for book 2!!!
Excuse me, ma'am, you can't end a book like that!!!! Especially when I am trying to read as many DIFFERENT Aussie authors as I can this month! Now I am going to have to go straight onto the next book and bump my other planned reads down the TBR list just so I can get answers 😱😱😱
I absolutely adored this book and was hooked from the get go. The FMC Scarlett I'd such a breath of fresh air and such a well developed character that it's almost like she could be the girl who works at the local cafe... but there is something there with her that doesn't add up from her past and now I am intrigued! The MMCs were perfection, and oh so scrumptious! The characters were not the only ones who didn't want that summer vacation to end, and I was sad as the story was wrapping up, but then that ending just bitch slapped me out of left field and left me reeling. What??????
The amount of man candy in this. This is every girl's wet dream. 5 Adonis looking men all to herself?
I hate how this ended but that's just because I wanted more. I will absolutely be reading book 2.
My version of the paperback had weird edits and a page or sentence missing but that was just my version of the book. With further editing, I think this could have really hit the mark. I loved that this was set in Australia and some of the Aussie slang. I do agree that there was no real plot but I also understand that this book was setting us up for book 2. I wanted to know more about the boys pasts and what happened to younger Scarlett.
I absolutely ate this up.
Well done Alexcis, for your debut novel. I loved it!
The only words that actually feel right now is. ‘NO!’ I can’t actually believe you did that to us! There’s me, reading away with tears in my eyes and ‘boom’ you did it to us!!!!
Definitely love a book that starts at the very beginning and gets you hooked. This book does that. I was disappointed with how quick I flew through it cos I didn’t want it to end. Omg all the guys are soooo swoon worthy and Scarlett is just kick ass! I actually can’t wait for the rest of the story. There is so much to learn and so many questions to be answered. Please Alexcis hurry up and write the next instalment. I’m definitely not going to be able to forget about this book in a hurry.
Summer Nights is a fun, quick read about young summer love. What you get........ ♡Grease retelling ♡Insta Attraction ♡Insta Love ♡Why choose (mfmmmm) ♡LOL Moments ♡MC/Gang ♡High School Setting (characters are all 18+) ♡She's Sassy and Down to Earth ♡Amnesia ♡Morally Grey MMCs ♡Golden Retriever MMC ♡Mental Health Rep ♡Great Banter ♡Aussie Slang
They have amazing chemistry, and these guys are 🥵🔥🥵🔥🥵 They are bad boys, morally grey but golden retriever, loving teddy bears. I would love them for myself! 😉
I got sucked into their story and couldn't put it down!
That ending, though!!!!!!!!!! I need the next book ASAP!!!!
This book was inspired by the classic Grease so of course I had to pick it up. I loved how Alexcis incorporated all the boys into this.
The intrigue, the witty banter, the aussie slang...was great. I really enjoyed it. I didn't mind the cliffhanger, I do love CH's when they are done well and this one was great. This is a very slow burn too by the way.
Fave character was Dacre.
“F**k, did I just wake up in a why choose romance book? Because I’ve got three holes and two hands.”
My only thing I would have liked was more lengthy scenes, sometimes it felt a little quick and could have been more developed.
Excuse me like who do you think you are as an author leaving me on that much of a cliff hanger I did not sign up for this, I devoured this book in one sitting I want more it had me intrigued from the beginning
The slow burn had me wanting more and more and when it finally happened it was ugh a sweet and tender moment I loved it!!!
Each character had there own moment to shine and have to say I’m not sure if I was the Spanish talk but I’m definitely a Sonny girly through and through
I really enjoyed this book! As a huge Grease fan, I was not sure how it may relate, but I get where the author was coming from. I liked the characters a lot and I know some people don’t like insta love or insta lust, but I definitely do. I really like where the story is heading and the little hints about what’s coming! I could easily picture the settings/landscapes from the descriptions. I am so ready for the next book!! The author is off to a good start and I know they’ll do even better as the their books progress. I look forward to reading more!
Oh. My. Goodness. I’m absolutely sobbing. Happy and sad tears. This was so good. Start to finish it was just such a happy story between Scarlett, Pike, Dacre, Dawson, Nicky and Sonny. I loved every second of reading it. The build up to the end had me on a rollercoaster. But the whole thing was so good I couldn’t put it down once I started reading. I can’t wait to find out what happens next and I highly recommend this.
Summer Nights is a very cute novella that just gave me a nostalgic high school feel except that I didn’t have 5 guys pining after me my senior year. This is a story of first loves and summer fun when you’re a high school senior and have no cares in the world except your summer love ending. Although this is a shorter story, there is a good bit of detail and character development, and ultimately it’s just a fun story. I look forward to seeing where this story leads as there are several breadcrumbs left throughout.
4.5⭐️s. This was so cute and heartfelt! It also made me realize I need to find more rugby books 😎 but the relationship between the characters is amazing and the personalities of the love interests are perfect and are pieces of one whole incredible man but split into 5! I’m gonna say the only bad thing about this book is the cliffhanger and that I wish it was longer 😭😭 and maybe a bit spicier 😉 this is a great book for those that are scared to read about poly or reverse harem, it’s a good introductory to it.
