Mankind in its present state has been around for a quarter of a million years, yet only the last 4000 have been of any significance.
So, what did we do for nearly 250,000 years? We huddled in our caves and around small fires, fearful of the things that we didn’t understand. It was more than explaining why the sun came up, it was the mystery of enormous birds with heads of men and rocks that came to life. So we called them ‘gods’ and ‘demons’, begged them to spare us, and prayed for salvation.
In time, their numbers dwindled and ours rose. The world began to make more sense when there were fewer things to fear, yet the unexplained can never truly go away, as if the universe demands the absurd and impossible.
Mankind must not go back to hiding in fear. No one else will protect us, and we must stand up for ourselves.
While the rest of mankind dwells in the light, we must stand in the darkness to fight it, contain it, and shield it from the eyes of the public, so that others may live in a sane and normal world.
Awesome book. I am an avid fan of the SCP Foundation, I grew up with it in fact. I love that someone decided to make some of the articles into book form. Would 💯 recommend reading if you enjoy horror, science fiction, or are a fan of SCP.
A catalog of the unknown things you are not authorized to see. If you are exposed to one of these people, items, creatures, or places then it’s probably out already too late…
Scp Foundation Art Book Black Journal is one of three art books I acquired through a crowdfunding campaign. Some of the information is drawn from the SCP website. SCP was inspiration for the very good Control video game.
SCP is a special organization tasked with containing the darkness that leaks into our world. Some of these entities (as they can come in many shapes, sizes, and forms) are highly dangerous, some are mundane, some are only methods of triggering some other phenomena.
Each entry contains its classification number and assorted details on containment procedures, where it’s stored (in some cases a special containment facility is built around an immovable subject), interviews with/about the subject (as some are sentient), and assorted other notes on incidents connected to each entry.
It’s a wonderfully creative and convoluted world they have created.
There is no specific then to the Black, Yellow, and Red journals.
The early pages of this book covers SCP’s organization structure, activities, the tests they put different subjects through, and other useful material if someone might want to use the organization in a game or story.
I did not know anything about SCP going in, except for what is written in the About section on the website. After reading this book, I honestly cannot recommend it. I consider only 14 out of 46 entries worth reading, that's just 30%! I do not know if it is a problem with the curation or the quality of entries of the website itself so I will not comment on that. Those 14 entries were fun and intriguing, but it's not worth the sludge of the others to read those. A shame, as the book itself is very well made, so one extra star for the presentation.
An overall stellar compilation of SCPs and artwork, though I have to admit I was disappointed that The Red Pool was missing a major portion of its file, namely the exploration log. All in all, though, nothing beats the feeling of re-reading some of my favorite SCP entries in such a well-illustrated volume. 4.5 stars.

With a wonderful and hauntingly beautiful foundation of what to expect from this world, time to jump into the wiki proper. My thanks to the publishers giving such a wonderful entry point with these artbooks.
