It was only when Kate tried to leave Tim that she discovered how potentially dangerous he really was. This title is her memoir of a true romance that became a living nightmare and ended with the discovery of a Christie-style murder that rocked the North.

True account also published under the title ‘Dangerous Love’. In October 1981 twenty year old Kate leaves her home in Oxford to embark on a biology degree at Exeter University, where she falls under the spell of (very) mature philosophy student Tim who is on licence for a murder committed in 1970. Details of their six year relationship make harrowing reading, and it’s only years later when she’s living in the area where Tim was originally tried for murder that she delves into his past to discover what actually happened, as she never really pressed him on this whilst they were together 🙄. It’s one of those books that has your blood boiling. I don’t know who I felt most angry with… psychopath Tim, or dozy Kate.
