Why did they kill off the best character in the series? Cassian had GREAT potential. This book should've had a revers harem theme. Seriously. Marbella had more chemistry with other men than her chosen male. I'm not kidding. Both Grayson and Cassian should've ended up with her. Both of them were better choices for her than Bae. Bae was a complete side-character in book two and three and we didn't see much of him in book one either. I felt nothing for him, nor for his relationship with Marbella.
That being said, a male character for me is the most important character in a book, and when the main male character here didn't do it for me, the book itself got boring to me. The plot wasn't all that either, very predictable and lacked depth. I just didn't care what happened, I just wanted it finished, so I skimmed. Bae is my least favorite Jaymin Eve male character. Braxton is still #1. I should also mention that I didn't care all that much for Marbella either. There was nothing special about her.
Characters: The list is long so I've put it in a spoilers tag.

Marbella has defeated the Gargoyle King Howl, but now she must help the Gargoyles rebuild before she can go back to the Elves. But the Elvin Council isn't about the stop their plans and they've found a sorcerer that can rival Marbella for power. Ripping Marbella away from Baelen, the sorcerer ignites a war that threatens to spill over into the human world.
We finally get to see the power couple in action!! I've been waiting for this since book 1 and it was so worth it! Marbella and Baelen are both super charged with power and I loved seeing how much chaos they were able to cause. The storm power is so cool plus the other powers Marbella awakened by touching the incorruptible gargoyle heart.
I loved seeing Marbella win over the gargoyles even more. She was meant to rule and seeing her in action was even better!! Over the series, she's become so much more confident in her leadership abilities. I loved seeing all her past experiences guide her.
The conflict between the elves and gargoyles was so tense and I was glued to the book from the beginning. There was so much action and I lived for it. This was probably my favorite in the series. We also get to meet several new characters, including my new favorite female side character--Grevious Indira. She was a freaking badass!!
I'm sad the series was over, it was so damn good! I can't wait to read more from both authors.
So, I've decided that this trilogy, saga, series, whatever it is...is one of my most favorite of all time! The books tottaly took me by surprise and I love them. Went out of my comfort reading done and gambled on the books, because I love me some Jaymin Eve, and I am so very happy I did. I think what I've learned from loving these books so much is that I will step out of my comfort reading done more often. Hopefully it works out as well as it did in this situation.
Marbella and Baelen *sigh* I do have to say that I've never wanted a story to be a reverse harem so freaking bad in my life!! The men in this book are what dreams are made of. Even the so called "bad ones". They are always my favorite anyway... I'm very sad that the saga is over and I wish I could stay in this world with these characters forever. A million thumbsup for these books!
The Princess must Reign by Everly Frost and Jaymin Eve a five-star read that will rule many a land. This is the third and final book in the Storm Princess Saga and I am sad to see the Saga ended but I have to be honest and admit I have loved the Saga and am a little glad to see it end on a high instead of being dragged out, something both of these authors have a talent at knowing when to end, that being said I am sad to say goodbye to so many amazingly varied and well written characters. This had me on the edge of my seat, I was sobbing at times and smiling at others, you will know where I was sobbing when you read it I’m sure, never had I had such a gut hatred changed to a such a heart-warming love. This book showed one of the most epic battles and it was sad as well as amazing as I knew who I wanted to win but knew deep in my heart that no matter who won, both sides would lose. This was such a great series that I hope many will read as it shows us that no matter how different people are on the surface, you don’t know what is happening underneath. It’s an eye opener that will make many think twice. Thank you both for being amazing people and writers.
I don’t know what happened with this trilogy since the first book was a solid 5 stars for me. As the trilogy progressed I kept on disliking the MMC and kept liking more the morally grey villains that ended up being arm candy.
Mind you, these arm candies had more emotional depth than the MMC. We kept hearing how the main couple’s love is so pure and gut wrenching but am I seeing it? No. Does the author keep on telling us that the FMC loves him? Yeah. Does the authors tell us WHY the FMC loves him so much? Nope
So here is my conundrum, why give me 2 PERFECTLY morally grey villains that are in love with her just to rub in our faces how “perfect” Baelen is, when he is nowhere on site?????? Like hello???? What up with baby Cassian and Greyson??
Absolutely amazing series!! Definitely one of my faves this year. I got them on kindle but bc romance fantasies are a bit out of my comfort zone, i was a but intimidated by the first book and had to force myself to read it. From there, i couldnt put it down. I literally read this series in three days, one after the other, i cant believe the world these authors created. So beautiful and heartbreaking and full of hope.
The redemption of certain characters made them all the more fantastic. Usually you dont get to see the villains be redeemed but two so called evil characters in this series turned out to be beautiful gargoyles, with pure hearts. It shows you cant judge a book, and your past doesnt make your future and that you can change who you are if you want it bad enough. I love that the Bone Lash weapon Cassian never used on Marbella and her miners, that Marbella kept after his death, was finally used to destroy the evil in their world. Its fitting and honourable that it was used to put out evil after Cassian died out of his pure love for Marbella.
The love between Baelen Rath and Marbella Mercy, was so pure and beautiful, i couldnt help but scream when Marbella was nearly forced to betray and give up that love multiple times. They are an example of soulmates. The ultimate connection. Like another reviewer said, this series has males in it that dreams are made of, if it was an RH series, that would have made my year, but Baelen and Marbellas love more than made up for it! The friendship and family and love and hope and healing in this book just was amazing. Five star series!
This book was nothing short of spectacular. In fact, the entire series was phenomenal and I couldn’t seem to get enough. I finished Jaymin Eve’s Curse of the Gods series and liked it so much that I wanted to try her other books. The storm princess series definitely didn’t disappoint and the 3rd installment (The Princess Must Reign) was the perfect ending. Book three revealed more of the history that was laid in books 1-2 and also helped build the characters a bit more. I was engrossed in this book from beginning to end and completely immersed myself in the world the authors built. If you like fantasy romance, this book (and the entire series) is a must read.
I've loved reading every single minute of the three books in this series this year and each book has just got better as it's gone along. This third and final book *sob* brings everything and everyone together to give us the grand denouement that is fitting for both Marbella Mercy and Baelen Rath. Both of these authors give us drama, heartbreak and hope in The Princess Must Reign. It was a fantastic read that is more than worthy of the five stars I've given it. I'm not lying when I say this is my favourite series that I've read this year and it's one I will be reading over and over again. I loved it!
I am very stingy with praise and stars. Furthermore, I keep a list of all of my favorite books/series'. In the roughly 1,600 books that I have read, this series makes it onto that list at #51.
This trilogy takes more twists and turns than I expected out of it. At it's heart, it's a fantasy romance, with quest-like tendencies. The lead is female, which is unusual for hero-quest-fantasy. And while she does collect a band of supporters along the way, the journey is far from merry, though I give the author props for limited causalities (actually to an unrealistic level, but it's still very kind to the reader.) The happily-ever-after is big and wonderful, not just for the hero and heroine, but for the entire society. The big theme of the book is the heroine putting aside her desires and pride for the long game, the greater good. She sucks up a lot of humiliation and abuse to come out on top at the end, proving herself worthy.
In this one, the heroine is at war, has her power back, and is up against evil sorcerers.
This wrapped up a decent fantasy series, answering questions, revealing secrets and seeing the world on a path to happiness. My only issue? I don’t understand the connection with Bae - the emotional build just isn’t there with him, though it’s present with other characters that are NOT love interests. Eh, still good though
This was a great end to a really interesting story. I felt a full range of emotion while reading this book, from happiness to rage to sadness to more sadness (Cassian *sobs*) To be honest though, i don’t really like Baelen, and I think that kept me from fully enjoying this last book. Everything else was great though. I love when Marbella uses Cassian’s whip.
Running thoughts:
I’m not ready to read this book. I loved Cassian. Probably more than Bae.
Yaaas is she the Queen?!
I want to enjoy this part but I still feel so raw from Cassian, I would have almost preferred a fade to black scene instead.
How am i supposed to move past his death when she runs and sobs on his dead chest? Uggghh.
Ohhh. Awesome.
Part of me is considering skipping to the back of the book to find out how it ends. Maybe because I partly don’t want to keep reading. Baelen needs to chill out. He’s being so possessive. She survived seven years without him, she’s plenty capable. And i miss Cassian. Also I miss Jordan.
Duuude. Can she make males fall in love with her or what.
NOOOOO.
Gross.
If he gets mad about this then I’m done.
Fine, I guess he’s okay.
God she’s an idiot.
Heart emojis.
If Cassian were alive then everything would be perfect.
I don’t even know where to start. So much happened in this last installment, and I’m honestly trying to process. This book and series needs no detailed review! Just read this series ASAP!
These authors left no loose ends. I had such a satisfied feeling finishing this book because I knew what the future held for all the characters. Basically, everyone got their version of HEA. I can easily claim this series to be one of the best of 2018! That’s mean from every genre not just fantasy romance. Don’t let the romance label dissuade you. This is so much more than a romance story. It’s about death, friendship, betrayal, loyalty, cruelty, honor, and most importantly, the virtues of mercy. I hope these authors pair up again. They hit this series out of the park.
The last book in this amazing series couldn't possibly live up to the rest, right? Well, it did! Start to finish this was an absolutely amazing series and the only thing I regret is that it's over! Throughout this series, the characters, especially Marbella and Baelen, have felt so complex and real and relatable. From page to page, I held my breath in anticipation, waiting to see how events would resolve. I would love to read more with the various characters in this series, I wasn't ready to say good bye! Loved it and I can see myself rereading this series over and over!
The idea that the princess has to save everyone is getting a little ridiculous. Everyone is either all good, or all bad. Some of the bad ones are only bad because they've been manipulated, and once that comes out, then they're all good. There's no one really in the gray area. Decent wrap up, but felt a little too neat.
The Princess Must Reign is the third and final novel in the Storm Princess Saga and is a fantastic ending by authors Everly Frost and Jaymin Eve that is riveting, exciting and thrilling until the final page.
Despite having defeated the cruel gargoyle king, elven Storm Princess Marbella Mercy and the gargoyle people are facing another threat, this time from the Elven Command themselves and their army who want to wage war. Baelan Rath is newly awakened and prepared to stand by Marbella’s side but when it becomes clear the Elven Command has a powerful new sorcerer on their side using deadly magic, Marbella and her people will need to take a drastic stand if they have any chance of surviving.
From beginning to end the Storm Princess saga has been a joy to read. Everly Frost and Jaymin Eve have created and detailed an enthralling fantasy world full of likable and tangible characters and a storyline that has kept me eagerly reading across the course of the trilogy. Beautifully written and enhanced by romance, action and friendship, The Princess Must Reign brings the saga to a close with a thrilling, high stakes battle that sees our beloved characters make their final stand.
Marbella has been a likable protagonist to follow. She genuinely cared about her people as well as the gargoyles and wanted to save them. She was kind but strong-willed and loved very deeply. I enjoyed seeing her romance with Baelen throughout the series and am thrilled Frost and Eve avoided the dreaded love triangle. It was nice seeing a couple who were dedicated to one another and whose hearts belonged to each other completely.
I’ve loved all the supporting characters in this series; Jasper, Elyria, Roar, LLion, Endit, Indira, Grayson, Talia....they’ve all been so wonderful and I’ve enjoyed seeing them connect and grow over the series. Romance, friendship and family have all played such large roles in the series and I think it’s been perfect.
Beautiful from start to finish, the Storm Princess Saga has been a thrilling series and builds to a brilliant and fitting conclusion. Everly Frost and Jaymin Eve have written something special with this saga and I highly recommend it if you love fantasy and romance.
Ok, so after a short interlude where I was wondering WHERE in the world of Erawind these authors were taking us, I’m finally back on board and ready to see where they’ll take us next. This series is so intricate that you really cannot read a book here, and a little there. You really do need to read it in one go. The characters, love interests, politics between two cultures, and their intertwining history is so elaborate that I don’t know how Frost & Eve have spun such a story in so few books. It does read more like an epic paranormal love story than anything, which is something I really enjoy.
I do have a few criticisms though. There were some missed opportunities in pivotal moments where the authors didn’t have the characters react too much (Baelen’s revelation on family history for example). Baelen seemed like SUCH a superhero, but he was really even-keeled for what I would envision a Rath to be. The intricacies of the plot were a bit too much at times for me to keep track of. And I was really surprised at how nonchalant Marabella was when she was all of a sudden thrown from a “Storm Princess” who wasn’t really royalty, it was more of a position, into royalty between the races, and she had a couple moments of indecision, but all of a sudden she was ok with it and moved on. And made the right decision for her people at every turn.
I know it sounds like I’m hyper-critical of the finale, but if I step back and look at it, I did enjoy it and I’m glad that I’ve read it. I might read it again someday and appreciate it more. Though, after reading the epilogue which is a part of the trilogy set, I really wonder why this is a completed series when it sounds like a total spin-off for the kids could happen.
I've never written a review before but i feel compelled to write one for storm princess saga, even if it's not going to be that good. Every time i complete a series that i enjoyed reading i feel sad that it had to end because i wanted to keep reading, never wanting it to end or I'm glad that it ended here because extending it would have ruined something good. But I've never felt content like i did after completing storm princess. The ending made me feel at peace in a way that only a few ever have, Like now everything is as it should be. Evelyn frost and Jaymin Eve did an amazing job not just with the story but with the epilogue. I've loved how Marbella and Baelen's characters never overpowered each other, there was that perfect balance. I'm also not sure how to end this review I afraid i'll be too abrupt all i can say is that I'll be reading a lot more of these authors work and i hope that everything they write is as good or even better than this. It was a pleasure reading this series.
This was definitely a story of ever afters! I loved how all the characters stories were wrapped up but not all at once just throughout the story! I was incredibly happy with how this turned out. I thought for quite a bit that maybe Grayson was going to have a spin off series.
Marbella finally discovers what the counsel is after and she sets out to upset their plans but she is always at risk because she would do anything for here friends, family, and people. The enemies are lurking and preying upon that weakness. Marbella discovers more allies as she brings Endor together. It was just really good. Its hard when there is ambiguous bad people, people who are only bad because they have been lied to and manipulated into it. I loved all 3 books and any HEA's that came along the way.
I have already downloaded more series by this author and cant wait to try them out!
The epic conclusion where love, power, and destiny finally collide. What makes this final book special is the emotional payoff. After all the pain, sacrifice, and secrets, Marbella steps fully into her strength, the Storm’s truths are revealed, and every choice finally matters. The romance is fierce, the battles are high stakes, and the ending delivers the closure this trilogy earned.
Tropes & Vibes: ⚡ Fully realized storm magic 👑 Queen stepping into power 🔥 Soul deep devotion 🗡️ Final battle stakes 🌩️ Love versus destiny
Read this if you like: Romantasy finales with real payoff, powerful FMCs embracing their fate, epic fantasy battles, and endings that leave your heart full.
This series follows our heroine Marbella Mercy, the storm princess, as she ventures on a journey to prevent world annihilation. When this series started, I was quite hooked onto the world building, the heartstones, the magic, the mythical creatures and the steady romance with Baelan Rath (the classic strong protective Elven warrior). However by the 2nd book/3rd book, I was getting quite annoyed about how everyone loved Marbella, how perfect she was (other than to her enemies) and how everyone follows her extremely easily (without much explanation). In "The Princess Must Reign" - the plot itself became quite straight forward and played out quite simply. Nevertheless, the series was a light and enjoyable read with a happy ending!
Loved this imaginative and beautiful series!! The covers are beyond amazing! I fell in love with so many characters in this series. Though my absolute favorite wasn't introduced until this book. I loved this conclusion! All the lose ends were brought together and the happily ever after was just so perfect. Who knew that the pairing of elves and gargoyles could be so gripping and capture both your mind and heart!? But of course anything penned by the goddess of the quill, Jaymin Eve is bound to be epic and one heck of a rollercoaster. The names were so unique and memorable. I'm so very thrilled to have read this heartwarming series 💗💗💗
Exciting story from beginning to end. It does have some slow parts within the trilogy but overall it's really good. Marbella the female lead is annoying sometimes; she has all the power but fails to use it to her advantage to save their world. Baelean is my favourite, he's strong and loves silently with all his heart. He has a sad story to tell but fights for the love of his life. Still dont know the reasons though why Marbella was told to end Grayson. I loved all the characters, they were well developed and you could feel their emotions through the writing. Highly recommended.
Will be ending this series with a 4 1/2. The series is great, well written. I don't know what it is, but I feel like there was just a little something that was missing. Maybe it's the whole ensemble thing, she has such a strong and dedicated group of friends and I felt like I was invested in them as well. I know they were captured and all, but I just don't know... It did focused on the MC a lot, which is fine. But maybe it could have given a little bit of breathing room to touch on what was going on with the rest of her friends back home before the very end and was tied in. Still, I enjoyed it very much.
The entire narrative is building up to the inevitable war between the Gargoyles and Elves, and I am satisfied with how the events unfold. We are treated to a thrilling final battle with an impressive demonstration of magic and witness Marbella's handling of the situation with her strong leadership skills.
Throughout the three books, we witness Marbella's personal growth as she endures hardships during captivity, heartbreaks for losing persons close to her and joy when she finally reunited with her loved ones. It is truly a rollercoaster journey. However, I have one question: during the coronation ceremony, where were Jasper and Elyria?
This book started with a bang literally and fivertically. There is so much fighting, and all she wants to do is protect her people. The main character is an absolute warrior! She is strong and has great character for a leader! I want to be her when I grow up 🥰 I want the type of love she has! They are an absolute unit. No matter what they come up against, they stand strong together! The flow of this book makes it feel like it is a 1 hr read but also has so much packed into it that it also feels like it's 5 hrs long. I'm most definitely going to be reading more from this author, and I highly recommend this book series!
I don't often write reviews but this series was fantastic. Addictive storyline and a multitude of strong characters all hooking you into their lives and keeping me up till all hours of the next day, completely unable to put it down. It didn't use sex to fill out the pages but where intimate relationships did come into the story they did something that I couldn't explain without over simplifying it. All I can say is that although it is a true fantasy it left me feeling more positive about life and humanity as well as giving me perspectives I had never looked from before. Thank you.
