Isabella’s story will take you on a thrilling ride of passionate love, painful heartache and ultimately, revenge.
A great read. Mystery, romance and intrigue takes center stage in this novel. If you enjoy a good mystery romance with a dash of spice, then this story is worth a read. I also liked the author’s writing style and look forward to reading her future books.
The first like 40% of this book had somewhat of a plot but then the rest was just straight smut. The fmc not swearing, saying heck/freaking, after the explicit sex scenes was kind of an odd combo. Really not for me 🫠🫠
i would love to know how many times the word cock appears in this book because it has to be a record I stg
This was a 5⭐️ for me for a few reasons. For starters, I could really tell the author was having fun writing and anytime I can tell that, it makes it a fun read. This book was easy to read and I got through it in only a couple days while remaining entertained until the end and what is a book if not for entertainment? I think this book accomplishes what it is supposed to and I look forward to whatever this author has planned next!
The story started off strong, intense, enthralling and mysterious. It had a great potential.
Then the author went into a lull! Kept going in circles that added nothing to the plot, nor to the characters building.
To get out of that funky lull, the author made a giant leap into the surreal, or into a reality-TV kind of "reality". The reader had now to accept stalking as an acceptable form of love. And to accept that private security companies can kill with impunity, and that the "dame" of this story would not even flutter an eye lash at that, since the killing is also done for love (in front of her own eyes)
Then the romance (ie sex scenes) become more frequent, to turn what started as a promising mystery novel, into this genre of "dark romance". But the language is timid in these scenes, reluctant, as if written in the Victorian era.
I felt let down when the mystery faltered, and the repetitive funk prevailed, and was not rewarded sufficiently by the surreal action or by the frigid smut!
I didn’t read the summary so just looking at the cover I thought this was a paranormal or gothic romance because she looks like she’s wearing a dress made of fire in a spooky library. So then the first few chapters I’m into it and then that sign for beware of wolves!! And there must be werewolves?! But no. Then there are wolves staring at her from the dark and she picks up the puzzle box to compare and I’m thinking whoa that would be so freaky maybe they’re shifters? But no. Then she has that dream where she’s staring at her own dead body and I was like whoa this is an alternate timeline or maybe she was never rescued and the Nikolai plot is a dream?! But no. Le sigh. I DNF around 60% because I got bored.

Great Book! I loved the way the main characters developed throughout the story. Their growth felt natural and kept me invested in their journey. The fast-paced storyline made it even more engaging, holding my attention from start to finish. A fantastic read for romance lovers!
I was happy to win this book through the goodreads giveaway. I liked this book & the main characters bond. The only critique I have was that the plot was easily guessed but was good nonetheless!
The first 30 or 40 pages are pretty good and leave ypu wondering, but once that plays out it becomes fairly predictable and tropey
I will say, I dont know how to write a sex scene, but when the word cock is used at least 5 times on one page and the phrase "wet folds" three, it makes me laugh. It's not well written sex. I had to write this phrase down, because it was completely comical and I know it was supposed to be sexy : "slowly working his way to my wet inflamed folds. Gently flicking his tongue across my raw nub". There is nothing wrong with well written smutt, but this is not that.
Additionally I feel like the female characters primary dialog is just thanks Nikolai, youre so smart Nikolai, this so so cool Nikolai, thanks for the great sex Nikolai, I've never cum like that Nikolai, way to go Nikolai.
The plot quickly fades, the sex is repetitive in how it's written, and we all know how the story ends.
