Just like that, he was gone.

Amanda Taylor knows that young love doesn’t always have a happy ending. One summer in her teens, she met and fell for Mathis Côté. Every moment they spent together was an exhilarating and beautiful dream. Love never felt so real. But as the summer ended, so did their time together. Mathis left with no explanation or reason and never spoke to her again.

Now, many years later, she’s grown past their brief time together, certain that she will never see Mathis again. However, when Amanda’s uncle dies, she is left an inheritance with a catch: Mathis Côté must be the one who trains her to take over her uncle’s wealth.

The new Mathis has become cold and distant. His years apart from Amanda have changed him into an arrogant and wealthy man with an endless stream of women fighting for his attention.

Even though Amanda has contained her feelings from the past, she can’t help but try to find out about the man Mathis has become. As she slowly unravels the mystery behind his past, she uncovers a secret that may put both of their lives in danger.

I really like this story. Amanda has strong feelings for Mathis that stem from unfinished "business" they had in their teen years. I can't get a good read on Mathis though, is it just convenient or does he have feeling too. Unfortunately this is another cliff hanger read where the first book is free or cheap and then you have to pay for $2.99 for the next part of the story. I really wish this trend of splitting one novel up into 3 novella's would end. Its frustrating and expensive...which I guess plays right into the money makers hands. I would like to read on, but I don't know if I will.

This is a free novella I downloaded from Amazon, and is the first of a series. I enjoyed the first 80% of the story, then it became implausible, and the promising storyline fizzled out for me. It's not bad writing, but I found the dramatic plot elements unrealistic, and the romantic thread plain silly... summer romance between 15 yr old and 18 yr old, and they still have feelings 14 yrs later? Nope, sorry, just don't see it.

Nice short read. I was expecting a little bit more. I enjoyed how Mathis and Amanda met. I feel there was more to Andy story. Andy was Amanda's great uncle and was helping a young teenager Mathis. I felt the story waited too long and was rushed at the end. I would like to read the effect book 2 just to see where it goes.

I'm glad this was free. With that being said, for such a short book, it took me a week + to finish. I just couldn't get into it and I doubt I will be moving onto the next two books in the series. I just can't see spending the money on the other books.

It was just too short to let me get involved with the story. Took me maybe 30 minutes from start to finish. It had promise, just needs oomph to the story.

This was a good story but a bit short. I liked the twist it had at the end and can't wait to find out what happens next with Mathis and Amanda

It was an okay book. It was a very short read with a cliffhanger. Thinking it would be better as a longer full book. Felt a bit rushed. Good storyline just rushed.
