Girl on Fire #2

Ashes Falling: Post-Apocalyptic Sci-Fi Survival

Rate this book
THE APOCALYPTIC RED MIST KILLED BILLIONS IN DAYS. SEVEN MONTHS ON, KASSIA IS STILL DYING.

For fans of high-stakes survival novels like 5th Wave and Hunger Games.
Complete 4-book series. Perfect for binge-reading!

Desperate to find her missing sister, Kassia emerges from her subway bunker beneath New York. The city has grown even more frightening. Wild animals stalk the abandoned streets. The terras have spread; some are harmless, many are lethal.

And she is almost killed twice in her first hour aboveground.

She takes shelter with the Weston Battalion, a community surviving inside a fortified skyscraper. However, a dying girl has to earn her food—and Kassia isn't sure she can.

As she struggles to fit in, she grows close to the two boys who saved her life that first day: Asher, who leads with fire and conviction, and Lynxx, a brilliant loner hiding something dark.

But she isn't looking for love. She's looking for her sister.

Somehow, Kassia stays alive. When a sinister new threat arises, she realizes the city is about to become a lot deadlier.

Ashes Falling is the second book in the complete four-book Girl on Fire series. Fast, binge-worthy, and threaded with a slow-burn romance. This fallen world has compelling characters, dark choices—and a flicker of hope.

This was massively actioned packed. I thought book 1 was action packed but this just developed into something more?!

So much is happening & so much is progressing!! The waves? The amount of information we find out about the Hybrids?

This also is very more SCI-FI towards the end which I loved.

Kass has been betrayed but also..is this going to benefit her now?

The romance is slowly building..but also I feel like heart break is coming? I am loving the difference variety of characters with their relationships & It’s yes it’s YA but so good?!

Gosh I can’t get enough of this series, send me into the red mist now to fight😆

A nail-biting, exhilarating sequel to the incredible Girl on fire book 1, Ashes Falling had me gripped from start to finish.
The characters are all unique and have various growth throughout book 2, the plot is fast paced and as immersive as the first book and we are introduced to various dark yet unique terras throughout the story as a whole. I cannot wait to see what book three has in store.

I loved, loved Girl on Fire Book 1, but Ashes Falling is even better! Kassia is a wonderful character, and to experience her altered new world and life, and to get to know Asher and Lynxx through her eyes, makes for a gripping read. The action is always breathless. Add suspense, romance, mystery and high tension, and you have an unputdownable dystopian adventure!

This book had me just as hooked as the first in the series. I honestly could not believe some of the things that happened. I know the author said everything would now on be in Kassia's POV. And it works very well especially with her finding her sister in Armstrong stadium and her connection with Asher and Lynxx. Having the insight from the characters from the first book helped make it easier to see Kassia's side of things. Overall have loved this series so far and cant wait to read the next book!!

So even though I am decades above the age that these books are written for I really enjoyed it. I hope she continues on writing books like this.

Good

Very different. Good story. But the jumping back and forth was a little hard to do. But it brought it together.

Ashes Falling, the 2nd book in the Girl on Fire series, is a truly engaging read. Kassia continues to be a wonderful heroine, and I was on a rollercoaster all the time. The plot is cleverly crafted with unexpected twists, while the romantic elements were a perfect balance to the life-and-death events. The pace kept me invested as the characters navigated the extraordinary dangers of the *new* New York. This is a world like I've never imagined before, and as terrifying and perilous as it was, I loved every minute that I was there--and I loved being with these memorable characters. A fabulous read indeed!

This is an incredible sequel that plunges you further into the dystopian world of the Girl on Fire. Kassia is a compelling character whose search for her sister takes an unexpected turn. The story is a thrilling ride, a mixture of suspense and action, plus a touch of romance, that keeps you hooked from first to last page. It’s a fresh, unique take on the genre, gripping and entertaining. Definitely a must-read!
