An intriguing mafia romance read. I liked the characters and the plot, yet it could have been developed more. The unexpected revelation towards the end was tied up in a rush and inadequately.
I'm a little bit conflicted on how to rate this one. Because the H was such a st*pid little man!!! no brain on that one, because he decided to extend his "revenge" so far that he, of course, ended up hurting the h. While she forgave so easily. I'm stunned, not in a positive way, though. Why rush the ending like that!?? why, why??
Luckily, I'm curious about the next book, so I'll continue the series.
What to expect - mafia set-up, of course, a few triggers here and there, as expected for such a book - age gap (10 years, I think, he's older, 21 / 31 !? maybe... I forgot his age already because he pissed me off so much 🤣) - H in search for revenge... but of course, he falls for her, hard ... but has issues acknowledging this in front of ther (rolling my eyes) - V h, celibate H (6 - 7 years, something like that) - HFN/HEA ( I needed an epilogue at least a few years down the line ... but I'm sure we will see them in the next books)
I received an arc for this book and this is my review.
Once I started this book I couldn’t put it down. I loved everything about Roman and Sophia’s story.
Roman and Sophia first meet when her father agrees to marry her off to him. Naturally Sophia is not happy with this arrangement and makes it well known, even as Roman brings her out to his estate in the country. Eventually Sophia starts to find herself and realise she may have a chance at living out her dreams of going to college and studying art.
I really liked that once Sophia realised she had the chance to go to college and study, she threw everything she had at it. She didn’t want to just be married to a rich man and live for him just wanted something for herself. She was such an innocent and sweet character but would let out her feisty side when the situation asked for it. I also also loved her two sisters - such opposites and her cousin and the relationship they had.
Roman was your typical workaholic, business owner/mafioso, hellbent on executing his revenge. He was closed off, unemotional and guarded. But I lived the glimpses of we got of his true feelings when he would let his guard down.
I loved everything about this couple and was rooting for them from the moment they met. I also really like what we got of the side characters and am looking forward to their books to see who they end each end up with.
Tropes include: - Mafia romance - Arranged marriage - Billionaire romance - Age gap - Grumpy, closed off MMC hellbent on revenge - Sweet, innocent FMC
I was honestly enjoying this book until the plot twist was revealed like wtf ?? The MMC roman was legally married to his wife/ex-wife for 6 years who happened on cheat on him with his rival and she was once pregnant too but MMC thought it was a better idea to lock up his wife in a mental institution and not see her ever again but go out in the world and take revenge on the enemy ??? Why brother ?? What for ?? So he take his enemy’s fiancée and marries her instead but wait wait it was all fake but Jesus the dude is still legally married to Olivia (his wife/ex-wife) and he trapped our FMC in a marriage shit bro I can’t even call it that. MMC did a huge show of the whole new marriage and wife also did a big ass honeymoon and started developing feelings for our FMC but didn’t even bother to divorce his legal wife or even inform our FMC about it, the enemy attacks and kidnaps the FMC and tells her everything. The FMC is so spineless and weak after the other half of the book ??? She even been let the MMC grovel ??? MMC presented her with divorce papers and explained his sad sobbing story and this idiot of fmc forgive him and started dating him and then married him again ??? WHAT THE FUCK BRO. This book wasted my time. Cheating between MCs ✅ Weak FMC ✅ No grovel by MNC✅ Waste of time ✅
I received an ARC of this book and the following is my honest review. I don’t know about you but I love a dark romance, forced proximity and arranged marriage. Sophia is set to marry Nik who is a part of the Russian Bratva, however Roman has something else in mind. Roman forces Sophia’s fathers hand into calling off her engagement to Nik and handing her over to him…unwillingly she is carried out of her own engagement party to Romans estate. During this story you fall in love with Roman as does Sophia. “I’m in danger of catching feelings for this dark knight. If I fall down that rabbit hole, will he fall with me, or will I find myself all alone?” This does not come without danger to her and like most men, Roman makes mistakes. Can he earn Sophia’s trust and her heart all over again? 🌶️🌶️🌶️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This book was a great read and by 10 pages in I know I would love it!
The depth that he betrays her to get his revenge is despicable. How could you ever trust someone who has acted in this way? His actions show his true character. He was willing to hurt, manipulate, and betray an innocent person just to get his revenge on someone else. It makes him worse than the villain in the story. At least the villain was honest about who he was and how awful he was.
Then she forgives him way too easily, because he was cheated on. Why does his damage not make him responsible for his own actions? If anything it makes it worse. Knowing how betrayal feels, he goes about it in an even worse way. What kind of man hurts someone who has never done anything to them?
Yeah, she says she loves him. But sometimes loving someone is not enough to justify keeping them in your life.
Aahhh I loved this book so much!! I couldn’t get enough!! Aahhhhh sooooo freak’n good!! Oh my gosh this book was intense.. & the twists had me wanting more & wanting to know what happens next!!! Did not wanna put this book down!!
Roman & Sophia aahhh love their characters!! They were freak’n amazing!!! Just loved them so much this was such a great read!!!
This is definitely a Must Read & Aahhhh I can’t wait to read Arianna’s & Dimitri’s story!!!🫶🏼🫶🏼🩵🖤
I did enjoy this book a good deal. It was spicy and romantic while having a sense of danger to it. It was my very first mafia romance to read and I was excited to dive into this world.
While I did enjoy it there were a few things that I didn’t enjoy. There was no world building. You just jumped right into the story with no idea anything about the different families or how they worked in the world you were going into. It made me pretty confused on a few things while I was reading.
Another thing I didn’t enjoy was towards the end, the story felt rushed to find it’s ending. While in the beginning there was suspense, towards the end of the book it felt like the author rushed to finish it and squeeze in details. I feel like this book could have been fleshed out more with world building and spreading the ending out for more suspense. I feel like Roman being so stand offish with romance and feelings could have been spread out more to add to the suspense and angst as well as the turmoil with the Russians.
Other than those things it was an enjoyable read just not high on my stars since it felt so rushed and lacked works building.
Roman De Luca 😍🔥 The story of Roman & Sophia was hot, but also had a really god plot. The characters felt genuine and nothing felt forced. I loved the twist, and how sweet it was as well. Will definitely be reading more from this author
Roman and Sophia were an amazing mafia couple. Arranged marriage turned true love. Ruthless MMC turned I’ll do anything for you. I loved Roman’s character development, even Sophia’s too! There was spice, plot, and plot twists! I’m excited about book two to read more about Arianna.
I love a good mafia book, but when you throw in arranged marriage and forced proximity it makes it even better. This was a great read with plenty of twists and turns, and a story that kept me hooked until the end. I can’t wait to read the next one.
An absolutely amazing story from Cassia Quinn. Both the writing and the characters were developed with a slow burn passion and a tangled web that had me up late because I could not put this book down. Fantastic, dive right in, you won't be disappointed.
I don't even know how I managed to finish this book, maybe I kept going it'll get better. It's like whiplash, one minute she's hating him and the next loving him with not much 'growth' in between. FMC is like a carpet. Forgives easily, loves instantly.
Wowzers, this book. I’ve been wanting to read another mafia romance book for awhile, and this book didn’t disappoint. It’s a dark romance, Mafia, enemies to lovers. It really wasn’t too dark compared to the books I have read. The spice was there but it also wasn’t overly spicy. In my opinion there was really good character development and relationships development. The ‘I love you’s’ did seem a little rushed but it was also perfect at the same time. I seriously couldn’t put this book down and I am so excited and ready for the next book in the series. Seriously, give this book a read!!
Hi hello, this book had me in a chokehold it’s like I was WAITING for the other shoe to drop but at no point did I think THAT PARTICULAR SHOE was even in the closet hello!?
We literally open this book to the middle of the mafia princess’ engagement party to one dude.. and then by the end of said party she’s being carried out over the shoulder of an another and honestly? Best way to start a love story if you ask me.
Yessss!!!!! The mafia books are ALWAYS going to be my favorite!!! This one did NOT disappoint!!! I DEVOURED this book in just a couple of hours!! If you are like me & love the mafia books, this is a MUST read!!!
This book will definitely be finding a home on my shelves!
Great mafia romance read ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Arranged marriage to HEA with a insert of drama in between. A good plot and that plot twist was amazing! This is the first thing I’ve read from Cassia but I can’t wait for Arianna and Dimitri’s story. Also, where can I find a Roman, asking for a friend 👀
4.75⭐️|4🌶️ Honestly this book was near perfection. The story build was gripping. The character development had me feeling for both the FMC and MMC. The plot twist I never saw coming. I laughed, I cried and yelled at characters. As I said, near perfection.
I received a ARC for this book and it was a great read:
"Roman and Sophias chemistry were amazing from the start. The banter and bravery of the couple made this book unpredictable and I couldn't put it down."
Yo me suscribí a esto, “principesa”, mafia, romance, arranged marriage, todo lo que está bien en esta vida para un libro brain rot que me dio ganas de leer los demás 🫣
