Denise Dowdell-Stent is a YA Fantasy Fiction author but also writes scripts, poetry (published in various anthologies such as 'A Passage in Time' and 'Speaking of Love' by Forward Poetry), song lyrics, and maintains a blog at eternaluk.com.

Denise has been writing stories from the time she could form coherent sentences at six years old – she has always had a wild, untamed imagination and writing provided a means to structure it and share it with the world. She grew up and continues to live, in the picturesque riverside village of Godmanchester in Cambridgeshire. However, she spent three years in Farnham, Surrey while studying for her BA HONS Animation degree. Before Denise realised her true calling was in writing, she wanted to be an animator and produced a number of animated films, mostly 3D Model Animation. Throughout her degree, she continued writing and later realised that as long as she drew breath, this is what she wanted to do.

Denise has always been a big fan of the Fantasy and Paranormal genre; though her books clearly reflect this, they have a strong emphasis on the importance of family and friends, sizzling romance, and adventure.

Reading Eternal by Denise Dowdell-Stent felt like stepping into a hidden part of myself I didn't know existed. The story begins on Halloween, with Vala and her two best friends, Jelly and Max, going on a ghost hunt. I liked how the book didn’t waste time and got straight into the story. Right from the start, I felt like I was part of their group. It reminded me of those late-night plans with friends where you think nothing serious will happen—but something always does.

What really caught my attention was when Vala meets Elvar. That’s the turning point of the story. From that moment, her whole life changes. She learns she has magical powers, a connection to the fae world, and even a link to King Arthur. I liked how her character grows slowly—she goes from being a normal teen to someone brave enough to face danger. Her bond with Elvar felt sweet and real. It wasn’t over the top, just enough to make you care about them.

Personally, I felt connected to Vala. There have been times in my life when I thought I was just average, but later I found strength I didn’t know I had. Vala’s journey reminded me of that. The part about her parents getting kidnapped made the story more emotional. It showed how far someone will go for the people they love. I found myself reading late at night just to see how she would handle everything.

I would definitely suggest this book to anyone who enjoys a little bit of magic mixed with real feelings. It’s not too long or complicated. The pace is good, and by the middle of the book, you won’t want to stop. If you like stories about friendship, courage, and discovering who you really are, Eternal is worth reading. It's the kind of book that stays in your mind even after you finish it.
