The Kingston Family #2

Uno scandalo e niente più? (La Famiglia Kingston Vol. 2)

Rate this book

The magic of Carly Phillips strikes again as she shows us that love can come in the most unlikely of circumstances. This series, another fun spin-off of the Fabulous Dare family, is just getting more and more interesting as we learn more about the siblings and see them fall in love. Chloe’s story kicks off with the drama of her being left at the altar, but quickly becomes her taking control of her life and future in a way that makes me proud to be an independent woman. This family has had a lot of problems and traumas but together they have managed to overcome it all, bringing them closer together and sharing their love beautifully. Having been left at the altar by her safe fiancée, Chloe Kingston decides that it’s time for her to celebrate instead of being sad, so she sends her family home and uses her reception to throw a party to her independence. But things quickly get out of hand; luckily for her a white knight in the form of Beckett Daniels, her brother’s former best friend, comes to her rescue when the partying gets a little too crazy. Waking up hungover and in a semi-compromising position the next morning, confronted with her big brother, Beck and Chloe decide that maybe together might be the best way to move forward. Beck offers Chloe his guest room while she gets back on her feet, nothing more, but the more time they spend together the closer their friendship becomes. Soon they are both unable to resist the draw toward one another and they have to decide if the relationship they could build together if worth overcoming the odds and scandal it would cause for them to have their happiness. Chloe is strong enough to help Beck move past his fear, but he has to be willing to work with her or they will lose everything they have been building.

Beckett has a lot of traumas in his past and understandably he fears loving anyone for fear of losing them, but at the same time he knows the value of Chloe so I was a little surprised at how resistant he was to them forming a relationship. He was sweet, supportive, strong, and fearless in so many other ways, but letting go took way too long in my opinion. The connection between them was there from the very beginning and he fought way too hard for too long. Chloe was a great character too, even though she needed to stop hiding her light from the world. It was obvious that she has been coasting for far too long, unwilling to take risks, but with this last debacle the time has come for her to stand tall. Together they so obviously complemented one another perfectly making them the perfect couple and a perfect addition to each of their families. The passion between them was irresistible and I love getting to see it blossom into something beyond the label of casual they both tried to force onto it. I am so looking forward to seeing more of Chloe and Beck in the future novels and of course seeing the other siblings find love as we see these amazing Kingstons branch and grow into an even bigger family tree. If you are looking for a wild ride filled with laughter, sweetness, passion, and heartbreak look no further than Just One Scandal.

Just One Scandal (The Kingston Family #2) by Carly Phillips

M/F Romance
Triggers: Cheating, cancer
I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.

Chloe has been left at the altar... She knows that she should be devastated, hurt, angry and sad. However, she really only can be relieved. Despite her family telling her that he wasn't the guy for her, she wanted to make sure that she didn't end up with someone like her dad. Yes, she knows she chose for the wrong reasons, but hindsight is 20/20.

Chloe is witty, smart, creative and sweet. I loved her personality and how she was able to handle her overprotective family. She was very introspective and a great friend to everyone around her. I loved how she was able to take risks, both professionally and personally. You really got to see her grow in this short story.

Beck has his bucket list and he's sticking to it...for the most part. His past has defined his present and even though he might not get everything he wants, he doesn't want to feel crushed by loss every again. When he stumbles on Chloe and realizes who she is related to, Beck knows that fireworks might start.

You get to see Beck realize that sometimes, the risk is worth everything. I really enjoyed watching him wade though his personal drama - trauma to find out whether or not living was what he wanted or to simply survive.

This was a cute story that will have you laughing and crying. I can't wait to read the next one!

5 Star Review Just One Scandal (The Kingston Family #2) by Carly Phillips

Just One Scandal is Chloe Kingston and Beckett Daniel’s story and it was an entertaining read that ticked the boxes for me. Being left at the altar can destroy a person and that is the position that Chloe finds herself in, so what’s a girl to do but drown her sorrows in champagne.

Beck is Chloe’s brother Linc’s ex best friend so offering to help Chloe is complicated. However he sees more than anyone that she needs a safe place to land and offers his spare room to her. It’s a win/win for him, he knows it will rile up Linc and he can help Chloe at the same time.

However the chemistry and attraction between them is too intense to ignore, what will happen when lines are crossed? I fell hard and fast for Beck, there is so much more to the attractive man than meets the eye and underneath is a vulnerable man who can and has been hurt in the past. When the past comes back to haunt Beck, what will happen, will it destroy their blossoming relationship or will it strengthen it.

I loved this story, from the first chapter to the last and cannot wait to see what is in store for the series.

Just One Scandal is the perfect escape—a best friend’s little sister romance that’s full of snarky banter, fun sexy times, and a whole lot of love. And I absolutely loved every minute!

I knew I’d love Chloe and Beckett’s romance from the start. Beckett was Chloe’s unexpected savior on one of her most humiliating of days. And that care and concern for Chloe’s well-being turned into something so much more.

Something neither Chloe nor Beckett ever anticipated—or believed truly could happen. They fell in love—real love. And it was awesome! Both Chloe and Beckett carried previous relationship baggage. Lots and lots of baggage. But when they finally got over their hang ups, their friendship and relationship exploded.

Kinda like Chloe’s big brother Linc did when he found out! LOL But once Linc calmed down and Beckett gave him an opportunity to both get the story of their past off his chest and see that Beckett really had Chloe’s best interests in mind, Linc realized Beckett is the perfect person for Chloe.

Now I can’t wait for Dash’s story in Just One Spark. Is it October yet? ~ Missy, 5 stars

Chloe is more than a jilted bride. She has hopes and dreams and her brothers protect her too much. It was a blessing that she was left at the altar. Beck is also more than meets the eye. Him being Linc’s archenemy seems to be a story of misunderstandings. These two are a perfect match. I just loved the swoony and sweet side of Beckett. And Chloe is a confident woman when she finally puts her foot down and goes after what she wants.

Carly Philips does it once again. I am loving this Kingston family dynamic. Carly weaves a story that is fun and flirty with a mix of sexiness. It pulls on the heartstrings and gives you the warm and fuzzies. Each new couple is better than the last and I can’t get enough. I am really looking forward to Xander next. Bring on more Kingstons.

Risk-Aware or Risk Adverse?

Chloe is having a bad day; after being left at the alter, she is partying it up at the paid-for reception. Beck is out with his brothers when he runs into a very drunk Chloe. Will he be her knight in shining armor?

Beck and Chloe's brother Linc have a history; are his plans with Chloe honorable? Chloe is using her downtime to reflect on her personal and professional choices. Has she always taken a safe path?
I enjoyed the cameos from other series favorites by this author. This book is a beautiful story of love, family, renewed friendships, and forgiveness, moving on with open hearts.

I received an advanced copy from the Author; this is my voluntary review.

This book was so fun and I LOVED it!! It's book 2 in a series of standalones: a brother's ex-best friend romance, which is a unique spin on my all-time favorite trope, so I was HERE FOR IT!

Chloe Kingston is about to marry a man who was her safe, steady choice. There might not be any real sparks between them, but she knows she'll be comfortable, and get the family she wants. Until, he breaks it off by text on their wedding day, saying he's found a true love, and he hopes she'll find one too. She decides to use everything that's already paid for to party that night with her friends, but sends her family home. Then, walking across the hotel lobby, still in her wedding gown, she runs into her oldest brother Linc's ex-best friend from college. She doesn't know what happened between them, but she doesn't care. He's hot, and fun, and he and his brothers join her impromptu party.

Beckett Daniels is a successful business man, and in direct competition with his ex-friend Linc Kingston. He came from a working class upbringing, and worked his way through school, and now his business has made it big. He and Linc had a huge falling out in college, and have been bitter enemies ever since. When Beck meets Chloe in her wedding gown at the hotel, he knows he probably shouldn't involve himself in her life, but he can tell she's tipsy, and he wants to make sure no one takes advantage of her. He could never expect all that would happen next.

Beck and Chloe had fiery hot chemistry, and I loved watching them try not to act on it, especially when she was staying at his house. They thought they wanted different things out of life, and neither wanted to get involved, and risk losing their hearts. Beck has tragedy in his past that makes him never want to love anyone. Chloe has been making "low risk only" decisions, in her career and her love life, thinking they'd make her safe, and turns out she was wrong. She isn't sure how to adjust those expectations, and get what she wants out of her life. But she knows Beck could be the most dangerous decision of all.

I loved both characters' relationships with their siblings. They were all very close, and their families worked as both great sources of conflict, and great sounding boards, for each of the main characters. We also got to see a little more about Chloe's brother Xander, who is a former marine turned thriller author. It did a bit of set up for his book next, which will be a second chance romance.

I adored this story and both these characters. Their connection was so strong, but they really had to fight their natural instincts, and choose each other, every day. It was a great book, and I look forward to more of the Kingston siblings' stories!

I received an advanced copy of this book from the author. This review is my personal opinion, voluntarily given.

Carly Phillips Kingston Family bk 02 Just One Scandal

Love Shouldn't Be Safe

Love shouldn't be safe, a lesson she learns the hard way. It should make you feel safe, sure, but taking a risk is part of the fun.

Before the epilogue, there was a sense of foreboding in 'Just One Night' that Chloe Kingston's wedding wasn't going to go as she expected. The fact that Beckett "Beck" Daniels would be the one to step in and save the day? 🤔🫣 I had my suspicions that this would be his way into the family. I can't say I'm angry about it. 😘

She was a vision with her blond hair tumbling over her shoulders and the body of a goddess.

He swallowed a low groan of desire just as she reached for the back hook of her bra.

-- Beck Daniels

I love that Beck is a stand up guy, even when he's a bit of a jerk. We get to see his soft side when it comes to his family and treasured employees, but we also see some of his illogical reactions to a couple of things. I think we all have a subject or two that causes us to throw all logic aside and act on fear, anger, or some other powerful emotion.

For Chloe, I appreciate that she takes time to evaluate her life choices and course corrects. I love that she takes a few risks and finally starts doing what makes her happy.

I like the turn that takes place between Linc and Beck. I also like that he recognizes what would've happened that fateful night had some roles been reversed. What I don't like, and I get that society struggles with the concept when it's a man, is that Linc was sexually assaulted and no one is willing to say the tough words aloud.

I love that Chloe's story is integrated with her brothers versus being a side story. Too often, the sisters of the series get second fiddle status. This is a step in the right direction. 👍

This is a standalone, but at least reading book one in this series is my recommendation. There are a couple of Dare family members and friends that have cameo appearances or mentions, but reading those isn't required.

I borrowed the audio book. The narrators, Mackenzie Cartwright and Connor Crais, do a wonderful job. 🎧💜🎧

3.75 Stars rounded up.

Chloe Kingston was left at the altar by a man she deemed “the safe choice”. After growing up with a horrible father she decided she needed someone that would fit into her carefully constructed life even if she really wasn’t in love with him. This plan clearly back fires when he leaves her on their wedding day but she decides she is sending her family home and she is still going to party since the money for the reception has already been paid.

Beckett Daniels and his brothers just happen to be in the same area and join in the fun. Immediately there is an attraction between these two that makes Beck want protect and care for Chloe. She is too drunk to notice his reluctance but he knows that he really shouldn’t pursue her since he has bad history with her brother Linc.

As much as I loved both of these characters the overall story fell a little flat. I think it could have delved into more with these two together. I didn’t quite feel their connection with each other. I felt like we got a better feel of the individual characters with supporting characters then we did with the two together. It is still a good story but I’m hoping the next book in the series is a bit better.

4.5 Scandalous Stars🌟

Just One Scandal is the next book in the Kingston Family series as focuses on Chloe, the jilted bride and her knight in shining armour, Beck😍

Beck used to be best friends with Chloe’s brother, Linc, in college when they had a falling out. Now, Chloe has been jilted at the altar on the day that was supposed to be the best of her life and she’s partying with Beck and his brothers and her non-bridesmaids😳

I enjoyed this story and know that I’m getting to know the characters, I feel a bit more of that emotional connection to them. My heart bled for Beck and what his family have endured and it soared when Chloe and Beck were together❣️

I’m excited to read more of this series and especially want to see what happens next for Xander and further down the track Aurora❤️

Stability and safety are Chloe's middle names - that is until she is left at the alter by the man she thought was just perfect for her. Beckett Daniels is hard as nails in the boardroom, but when he finds the tipsy jilted bride enjoying the reception to the wedding that wasn't he shows his softer side. But can you be the knight in shining armor that Chloe needs when you are her brother's ex-best friend? Or can he give her space in his condo so she can lick her wounds in peace and still stay platonic? With adorable characters from the opening pages that kept the reader needing to know where the story line was going to take them this was another fabulous read from Carly Phillips. Honest characters feeling honest feelings all wrapped up with just enough angst to make a worthwhile read.

5 The Night Doesn't Go As Expected Stars!!!

The last thing Beckett Daniels expected to do the night he went out with his brothers was to "rescue" Chloe Kingston as she was "celebrating" her non-wedding!! And I loved how his protective side emerged no matter his feelings for her brother!!!

There’s a chemistry between these two that drives some of their decisions that brings them into each other’s lives. But there’s also some growing up too in that Chloe does what she thinks is best for her, not what her family may want her to do.

Chloe and Beck really are perfect together. They’re both a little damaged and hurting and being in each other’s lives really does a wonderful job of healing and along with the healing blossoms a love that just can’t be denied. The strong pull they have towards each other also results in some sizzling sexy times!! This book really is a great addition to this series because it brings together family in some trying times but also allows friends to reunite, maybe with a little skepticism, but it’s definitely a starting point. I can’t wait to see what happens next with this family!!

I just knew I was going to enjoy Chole and Beckett as soon as I read the blurb! A jilted bride and a man who once was her brother's best friend find themselves thrown together.
When Beckett swoops in and saves Chole at her lowest point he has no idea who she actually is but when he does he still is there to pick up the pieces and her!
Chole Kingston has always put everyone else first but the time has come to figure out who she is and what she wants and that when she realizes that she is wanting Beckett this is going to get a whole lot complicated ! Beckett is a man not looking for a relationship especially one that could be messy and complicated but that may be just what he is in store for with the irresistible Chole ! Now let's throw into the mix a beef with her older brother and that is more than either one had bargained for. This couple had wonderfully snarky witty banter and sizzling chemistry!

Ummm. . . Boring, unfortunately.

I really hate to write this review, but wow! This book was so boring. I didn’t feel any connection or love between Beck and Chloe. They were hardly together so I’m not sure where the “love connection” happened. I loved Jordan and Linc’s book. I just knew this too would be a 5 Star read. I found myself skimming through hoping for something good. The most interesting parts were of Beck and Linc. I was truly just bored. She loved his loft son much but there were hardly any intimate moments between them there. There were just a lot of random sex scenes thrown into the story.

Chloe Kingston thought staying in a job she found unfulfilling but stable and marrying a man she was friends with who would never surprise her was a good way to keep life safe, stable, and predictable. Then the day of the wedding Owen texts her to say sorry, I've been dating someone else and just can't go through the wedding. He leaves Chloe with a lot of wedding guests to break the news to, an already paid-for ceremony and dinner (and bar), lots of gifts to return, and no place to live because she sublet her apartment to move in with him after the honeymoon. So apparently her safe choice was an inconsiderate, selfish jerk and she dodged a bullet. After getting drunk, she sets out to take a hard look at her life and make some changes. Beck is accidentally Chloe's knight in shining armor from the first meeting, taking care of her when she's drunk, giving her a place to crash, and supporting her to chase her dreams. And while he's happy to follow the chemistry between them, he doesn't do relationships. Even when he finds himself in a relationship, he isn't going to admit it, because that would mean taking risks. And risks at work is one thing, risks with his heart another.

The chemistry between Chloe and Beck sparkled, in part because it had them fit together so well as friends despite just meeting. They were more than just sex- although when they finally got around to that it was scorching! I liked how Beck worried about Chloe and supported her as she starts to make changes in her life and career, not looking at her as competition or the sister of a man he doesn't like. He won't explain the falling out he had with her brother Linc, insisting Linc tell her because he doesn't want to change how she views her big brother. He worries about his family, scarred by losing his sister when they were younger. But he's never learned to get past that loss, and it affects all of his present interaction, pushing people away and refusing to admit he cares for anyone because losing them would hurt. No spoilers, but the talk he and his mother eventually have about this is absolutely perfect and well written.

Beck is the decent, sexy guy you are waiting to meet and the relationship between Beck and Chloe is something special from the beginning. Electrifying chemistry and sweet friendship make this a safe and sexy summer read.

If I could give this 10 stars I would!!! One of the best books for sure of this summer especially for me as I love Carly Phillips books.

Beck and Chloe will steal your heart and you won't want it to end.

Beck is the enemy, so everyone thinks due to bad past with Chloe's big brother during their college days. But when Chloe's wedding day implodes, stranding her at the altar with no groom, Beck becomes her savior. After surviving the tragedy of her wedding, Chloe decides to go ahead and have the party that was supposed to be her reception. Beck is having a nice dinner in the hotel with his family and after an encounter with the drunken bride he escorts her to her room with the best of intentions of getting her a good nights sleep and sober. However he ends up spending the night, and however innocent that one night was he can't help but enjoy the look of horror on her big brother and his ex-best friends face the next morning when he shows up at the hotel to bring her home. When the two start to come to blows after Linc thinking the worst and that Beck has taken advantage of his sister, Chloe steps in and ends up going home with Beck instead of her own brother.

Chloe can't help the attraction she feels and the sparks fly with Beck but he tries to not take advantage of the jilted bride when she becomes his room mate. Being afraid to love again after a huge loss in his life as well as what he feels as a betrayal in college of his best friend and ex-girlfriend, Beck doesn't do relationships, no matter how attracted and strong the chemistry is with Chloe. But he can't deny them at least an affair while she's under his roof, after all he's a man and seriously the room combusts when they are near each other. He knows it's only a matter of time before he takes the beautiful Chloe to bed. He's not prepared at all for the protective feelings and need he has for this woman and when things get heated he gives in but intends to protect his heart at all costs.

This story will make you laugh and it will make you cry at one point with the emotions of Beck and the loss he carries in his heart. But you know from the beginning he's not the bad guy you might have thought when you met him in book one of the series with Linc. Chloe is the heroine we all love, strong, a little lost and broken and with the help and love of the RIGHT man helps to mend the pieces of her past. Beck helps Chloe to realize her own dreams and desires, something she has forgotten and tried to deny to have a safe life instead of a fulfilling one.

I adore Beck and Chloe, this book is absolutely magnificent and the best of the summer !!! Be prepared to fall in love with this couple and enjoy the steamy journey of their passionate love story!!!

*An advance reading copy was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.*

Chloe Kingston thought she had her life planned out… engaged to a man who wouldn’t cheat on her the way her father did to her mother, and a design job in the family Real Estate Business which is stable if not a bit boring since her older brother Linc only wanted safe designs. That is up until her fairytale wedding went up in a cloud of smoke thanks to a text from her groom telling her he found someone else who’s more his type. What’s a girl to do when she’s all dressed up and everything’s already been paid for, but to drink her way through her non-wedding reception and figure out what’s next tomorrow?

Beckett “Beck” Daniels, along with his brothers, is in the hotel after having dinner with their parents looking to grab a drink at the bar. Instead, they happen upon a very tipsy ex-bride and her bridesmaids, who invite them to join in the non-reception. Beck hasn’t seen Chloe for years, ever since he had a falling out with Linc, his freshman college roommate, over a girl. Both Beck and Linc are now bigwigs in the NYC Real Estate game and are huge competitors. After being at the party for a little while, Beck realizes just how drunk Chloe is and does the gentlemanly thing by bringing her upstairs to her suite to sleep it off.

The next morning comes soon enough, with a should-have been expected visit from Linc. When Chloe realizes that she doesn’t have a home anymore and doesn’t want to stay with family while she licks her wounds, Beck offers up his guest room, which almost makes Linc’s head explode. As Chloe gets settled into Beck’s loft, they become friends, which turn into friends with benefits. Then again, two healthy, gorgeous, single people who understand the other one isn’t looking for commitment (since one was just left at the alter and the other one has relationship issues because of his past), should definitely enjoy one another.

Beck brings out the best in Chloe and vice versa. With Beck’s encouragement, Chloe enters a design contest where the winner is awarded their dream job. And Chloe’s influence on Beck brings out the fun side of him, where he’s not just a workaholic. But then a sudden family illness shuts Beck down from in the inside out. Chloe leaves his loft to give him space, which is the best and worst thing for her to do. Both of them are miserable. But who’s going to give in first? Will Beck realize that he needs to live his life for him and not stay in the past? Will Chloe’s broken heart mend without Beck in her life? Will Beck and Linc form some sort of truce and finally leave the past in the past? Carly Phillips knows how to give us a good story that interweaves compassion, heart, hurt, passion and forgiveness in her pages.

***4 Stars***

After finishing Just One Night and finding out that Chloe and Beck, of all people, were going to be the next HEA, I was definitely intrigued, and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised with how everything turned out.

Beck and Chloe. I liked Chloe going into this book but I loved watching her come into her own. She had to deal with some hard truths about her life and where she saw her future and I like how she took a stand for herself and grabbed hold of the future she wanted. Beck was one of those characters that I didn’t necessarily like, but was intrigued enough to see what lay beneath the hostile exterior. And though it did take a while for me to come to, I ended up really liking the heart of the man that lay beneath it.

Their journey to their HEA was definitely a character driven, character building one. They definitely met under the most inauspicious of times, but I liked how comfortable they were with each other from the get go and all that mattered was that they were Chloe and Beck and none of the outside and past issues mattered. Their bantering was a lot of fun, the chemistry between them was hawt and I really liked how everything worked out for them in the end.

I have to admit that while I was interested to see just how Chloe and Beck would get their HEA, there was a big part of me that wanted to see how the whole Linc/Beck situation would play out, and I have to say I like how that all worked itself out. But I really liked getting to spend more time with Xander, Dash and Aurora, as well as meeting Beck’s family, and am looking forward to seeing what’s in store for Xander.

This is the second book in this series, but if you are a Carly Phillips fan, you will know many of the key characters and underlying plot twists. I have to say that made the experience all the richer, but even as a stand alone this is a great read.

Chloe is a really fun character - even if she has just suffered the embarrassment of being left at the altar. Rather than give her brothers a chance to be overbearing, she takes up the offer Beck makes, to give her some space. She is dissatisfied with her work in the family business too, so she decides to take her honeymoon time to reassess her future plans.

That Beck is her brother’s ex-best friend puts a bit of a spin on the situation, but for a change she is going to give herself some time for herself. Beck offers his support because he is a gentleman, but actually he cannot deny that Chloe has grown up rather wonderfully, and he is definitely tempted by her.

The timing is not ideal, so they really need to think about acting in their chemistry … but I think we all know that we just have to enjoy the ride and that Phillips will deliver!

Another lovely story in the series - highly recommended.

This is Chloe Kingston's story who we met in the first book, Just One Night, in this series about her brother Linc and his assistant and best friend Jordan. This book also easily stands alone.

We meet Chloe on the worst night of her life when her groom is a no show. We also meet Beckett Daniel's on the night he is celebrating his fathers birthday when the wedding that wasn't and Beck collide at the bar. Beck is Linc's former best friend and enemy.

I have to say after reading this book, Beck is an awesome guy. He hates Linc who is Chloe's brother but he remembers the family fondly. He is 32 to Chloe's 25 and I liked how they start to get to know each other as he helps her land on her feet.

Beck and Chloe slowly become friends while also realising that they have a huge attraction to each other. He largely lets Chloe be which is something that her family has struggled with allowing her to do.

This story also has a Cancer storyline as Beck lost a sister to Cancer when he was young and also his father is having some issues/tests related to Cancer.

This was a wonderful story about love, second chances, friendship, family and letting go of the pain of the past and moving on and opening your heart to let love in.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Just One Scandal is the second in The Kingston Family series. It can be read as a standalone, though Linc (Chloe's brother) and Jordan's story is in book one. It also explains the bad blood between once friends, Linc and Beck.

Chloe is all ready for her wedding to her "safe" choice fiancé when he cancels by text that he has met the love of his life and he can't marry her. He hopes she will find her love also. Chloe is more crushed about the loss of her dreams of home and family than she is her ex. She has a non-wedding party with her fairy tale reception and lots of champagne and her bridesmaids.

Beck and his brothers happen to be in the same hotel. The very drunk bride and bridesmaids invite them to their non-wedding party. When Beck realizes who Chloe is, he takes her to the honeymoon suite, tucks her in and watches over her. She wants to strike out on her own and figure out where she wants to be going forward. While her family offers her a place to stay, because she sold her place to move in with her husband, she doesn't want their pity or watching over her like she might break down any second. Beck offers her a spare room while she figures things out, much to Linc's anger, and Chloe accepts.

They become friends and later lovers, but Beck is upfront that he isn't relationship material and he never plans to marry. Will they be able to have fun without their hearts becoming involved or will one, or both, of them get hurt?

I adore the Kingston family, and after meeting Beck and his family they were a wonderful addition to the quintessential fictional family.

Chloe may have been a jilted bride, but as she wraps her head around those events she comes to some life changing realizations. She’s ready to step out of the safety zone and chase after her own happiness.

Beck is one who loves with every part of himself, but that love is also kept to a very tight circle that only involves his parents and brothers. After a devastating loss he’s sworn off letting anyone else through the barrier in an effort not to feel the pain of losing someone.

The chemistry between Beck and Chloe was instant, but their tension filled slow-burn was intoxicating. They put their cards on the table and yet the feelings that were brewing inside of them was palpable before either of them realized what was happening.

Just One Scandal is the ultimate feel good romance. An exemplary blend of intoxicating chemistry, a swoony hero, a strong heroine, witty banter, a tension filled slow-burn, sprinkles of feels, and not 1 but 2 quintessential fictional families.

I really loved this story. It was an ex bestfriend/enemies little sister romance and what a story it was. It wasn't an I'm gonna date your sister to piss you off. It was a fated meeting and it just happened to be, right place at the right time. And from virtual strangers a friendship built and bloomed into so much more.

Beck and Chloe start our gently. With Beck supporting and giving Chloe the courage to become what she always wanted. And you see her come alive as you read the story. You also see Beck become human. I know that's sounds strange but in Just One Night. Beck's attitude and demeanor was harsh and angry to say the least. With his families heartaches he softens. Grudges and scores are put aside through this book and a happy balance is found.

This book is a great and a total recommend from me. I cant wait to read the next book in the series.

I loved the way Chloe and Beck met, it was the perfect way to introduce a couple of people who really, at least according to others, shouldn't be with one another. But, right from the start, there is something between them that clearly makes Beck want to care for and protect Chloe.

And, that instinct is the reason he feels he can't be with her, because doing so will mean telling her the secret of the reason he is no longer friends with her brother, and it would mean telling her something unpleasant about her brother.

I loved how honorable Beck is, even if it means he doesn't get what he wants. I actually really liked all of the characters, even Linc when he was being controlling and a little overbearing. And, it's liking the characters that made this a fun book for me.

I wanted to see Chloe and Beck get their happy ending, and Linc and Beck to be friends again, as I did care about each of the characters.

I enjoyed and recommend this title.

Staying with Beckett Daniels for a couple of weeks shouldn’t be a big deal. Beck and Chloe Kingston's brother, Linc, are lifetime rivals, so that might complicates things. Chloe just got left at the altar, by text, no less, and her focus is on finding herself again and shaping her future while she hides away from the public (and maybe her family) in Beck's condo.

Beck doesn’t do relationships. Absolutely, unequivocally, never in a million years will he care for a woman and open himself up for any more pain and devastation from losing someone he loves again. It's just not happening.

I love the intermingled Dare and Kingston world, and Chloe and Beck's story is amazing! I always enjoy a strong, determined shero with a kind heart as well as a hero who's a little more broken than we see at first glance.

This crafty storyteller gives us her trademark chemistry and steam, a little angst, a sprinkle of humor and an abundance of heart. I have no doubt these perfect flawed, amazing characters will find a place in your heart, so start reading this one today!

Just One Scandal takes us on Chloe Kingston and Beckett Daniel’s journey.
Left at the alter means drowning your sorrows and that’s exactly what Chloe does what she didn’t expect was for a stranger to come to her rescue and make sure she makes it to her room and who also spends the night making sure she is ok. Problem is Beck may be a stranger to Chloe but he is no stranger to her brother Linc and he knows offering his spare room as a place for Chloe to escape to will only rile his ex best friend Linc up even more. Spending time with a beautiful woman was never going to be difficult for Beck but what happens when feelings get blurred, will lines be crossed and will Chloe be the woman who finally gets him to open up and show his vulnerability, will this be a match made in heaven or will the past destroy yet another relationship….
I loved this book, I fell hard and fast for Beck and I adored Chloe, I was drawn in from the first page and there was no putting down until I had read the final line. This is an entertaining story that ticked all my boxes and it will certainly appeal to all romance lovers.
