I live in the quiet, middle-of-nowhere Everett, Pennsylvania with my three boys.
I've been writing since I was eleven, after I swiped one of my mom's Dean Koontz books. I still remember the first one I read; it was called Darkfall, and kept me awake most of the night. Anyway, I was totally inspired when I learned that he came from the small rural town I called home (true story, I swear!), and started writing freaky little horror stories because I wanted to be just like him. I gave the stories to my mom to read. I don't think she was as impressed as I was, but she put on an encouraging face...and that was how my writing obsession started.
After years of writing for a hobby and taking creative writing courses, I've published my first novel, Ignited. My dream is for Dean Koontz to no longer be the only bestselling author from my little middle-of-nowhere hometown.
Although I’m sad to say goodbye to such an exciting Greek-myth, paranormal YA series, Avenging Heart was a gorgeous finish, which left me more satisfied than most series-concluding books I’ve read. Certainly one of my favorites, and I highly recommend.
This book jumps right in where Salvaged Soul (book 3) left off, with the battle-hardened, somewhat mis-matched group of young kala hybrids and their demi-goddess leader as they begin their journey across the world to uncover and prevent Circe's (Kris' half-sister) dangerous human-threatening curse to save Callie. Along the way they take on the powerful demi-gods, who strive to kill Kris and Alec. With such threatening tasks and numerous enemies, there is no shortage of action and heart-clutching fight scenes in this book. Powers, diamond-coated blades, guns, drugs, fists… everything is a weapon when you’re fighting for your life and the lives of your friends, family and the human population, even against the gods.
And when you’re not sure who will survive another day, feelings are strong and abundant—fear, protection, courage, devastation, vengeance, horror, triumph, heart-break, hopelessness, and love—taking me on an incredible roller coaster, such that I can honestly say my emotions were a scattered mess by the time I finished. There is humor and romance, but I will warn that I sobbed into my pillow for ages at one particularly shocking moment. A well-crafted adventure that kept me turning pages and biting my nails, rooting for Kris, Nathan, Alec and their team, family and friends through every surprise obstacle or plot-twisting set-back ‘til the perfect end.
***I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review*** (But I bought it anyway because it was so good).
An amazing end to a perfect series. It was such a long time frame in between reading salvage souls and starting avenging heart. That I couldn't remember what happened previously. So I did something I rarely do and started the series over again. The ignite series is perfect for para ya fans who loved buffy and charmed! It has everything you could want in a para ya series it have you hooked in seconds and leaving you wanting more. Be prepared to have a epic book hung over when you reached the end. I can not wait for Alec spin off to be published. I am all ready having withdrawals from this series. Thank you for an awesome adventure Desni Dantone it couldn't have been more perfect
I went from being sad and a bit shock at some of the things happening in this last book of the series to acceptance and finally .... well I'll leave you to find out the ending. Certain a series of book that give a good read. My thanks to the author.
Right around a 4.5. I rounded up because this was such a great series, and Avenging Heart was the perfect conclusion. I will definitely miss these characters!
Plot: Kris, Nathan, Alec and the gang (which now includes Lillian) try to defeat the evil demigods, end Circe's curse, save the Hybrids and Callie, and rescue Hecate from the Underworld.
Characters: All of the characters are more likable than ever. I love how the relationship between Kris and Nathan has progressed, but what I love even more is the relationship between Alec and Nathan. Speaking of Alec, he's just a great character all around, and his reactions to different things were priceless. Lillian was even tolerable once she realized that there was no future for her and Nathan.
Writing: I'm so far behind on my reading that I was afraid I would never get to Avenging Heart. When I did, all I wanted to do was read. Like Salvaged Soul, this one is full of action, romance, and suspense. Also like SS, AH is written in both Kris’ and Nathan’s viewpoints. I actually enjoyed that more than I did last time because it was actually kind of nice to get Nathan's feelings on everything that was happening and to see that he was genuinely supportive. The book is very well-edited. In terms of rating, I’d probably give it a PG-13. There is a lot of violence and several curse words. There are also some sexual situations, but Dantone gives really general descriptions of what’s happening instead of providing elaborate details.
Bottom Line: I've been reading several series finales lately, and several of them did not have the happily ever after that I so love. Avenging Heart did not disappoint. I won't say that the book is completely happy; in fact, some of our favorite characters die. Still, it is the kind of conclusion that brings you all the closure you need, as well as a little glimpse into the future, so you can see how things really work out.
What a great book! From start to finish, Avenging Heart keeps you at the edge of your seat.
Kris, Nathan, and the gang go on a final journey to stop the Skokadi and the remaining demi gods to fulfill the prophecy. But what will be the cost? From Mt. Olympus to the Underworld, they must travel to free Hecate and break the imortality curse created by Circe. Soon Kris will discover the fickleness of the gods, and learn that sometimes being a hero is highly over rated.
Emotions ran high in Avenging Heart. It had a lot of beautiful moments between Kris and Nathan. Even moments where I cried a bit. But the best part is the happy ending.
I smiled, I laughed, I cried! From beginning to end, I was engaged. I genuinely felt the emotions of their incredible journey. Whether it was excitement, anxiety, or heartbreak!! Excellent writing. The rhythm was good. Words came to life, as I envision the world Desni created. Characters are well developed and worked well together. Kris is a great main Character, but my personal favorite is Alex! Kudos to your editor. P.s. I read 3/4 books a week. This is the first review I've written!
I received an ARC if this book from the author, which in no way effects my review.
This was an epic roller coaster ride to a perfect ending of a well written series.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who has read the previous books. And if you haven't read the previous books, I recommend you read them and then read this one. You won't be disappointed.
Oh man, oh man, oh man! Terrific ending to one amazing series. This book was so SAD in places and wonderful in others. But seriously, prepare yourself! This series was a stay-up-till-2am-reading-cause-you-cant-put-it-down. I lost sleep but I don't even care. More Desni! More, more, more!
What an amazing series!!!the characters had such awesome chemistry. The ending was so great!! I laughed and cried throughout the entire series!! Highly recommend this series!!!
FIVE BIG HUGE STARS FOR A PERFECT, BRILLIANT, EPIC FINAL.
What a fantastic epic final to a superb series. I'm sad to have to say fair well to such a brilliant series. I have enjoyed and loved every word in each book. One thing I am so pleased about and that doesn't always happen for me is Avenging Heart has left me feeling completely satisfied. I cherished every word of this perfect final. I laughed and cried, I stayed up all hours and failed to get anything done. It just grabbed me from page one and that was that.
Avenging heart picks up where we left in Book #3 Salvaged souls. Even though I Loved Ignited Book #1, Sacrificed Book #2, & Salvaged Souls Book #3 there is something about Avenging Heart that just picked up it's pace. Even though you wouldn't have thought that possible seeing as the other x3 - Books were perfect and fast-paced in all ways... But this just went up another notch for me. There is so much going on, we see characters that we adore grow and become magnificent. We watch other cherished characters pass on. There was a huge amount of action and was full of wonderful surprises. Desni Dantone is by far an excellent and wonderfully talented author. Her writing style is clear and she just has a way of telling her story so you are completely dragged in. Her imagination is impressive and just brilliant. This is a must-read, Start with book #1 you will be hooked... While you are about it try out her other books. They quite frankly and brilliant. I very highly recommend reading them all...
I only rated the other books in this series because I needed this final one to share. Desni Dantone made the gods, goddesses, demigods, humans and creatures of the night all come alive for our intrepid heroines and somehow, it all works out. Painful losses, impossible loves and fierce battles merge to make this one of those series to be read over and over again. I sure hope this series makes it to the big screen. I would love to see how close my vision is for Alex, Nathan, Kris, Bruce, Lillian and Jared.
I am so sad this series is over I loved all the characters! Kris and Nathan were such a great power couple! And Alec really stood out as much as the main characters. He was funny and super witty I loved him. This book had the final show down and I must say I was NOT disappointed! The story was so well out together. I can’t wait to read the next series about alec
Kris and the gang are now working with the Greek God to get rid of the evil demigods & Kris stepsister. There is a lot of “preparing for the final battle” but not much happen. Nathan and Kris are trying to have some time alone but always get interrupted. They plan to get married once the war is over. Lilian is getting some sort of redemption and is becoming friendly; this is a little bit weird. I never liked her character. The conflict resolution felt too easy, to be honest, I wasn’t invested in this story anymore. I couldn’t exactly remember why the demigods were evils and what their goal was. Overall, I enjoy this book series, but I think it would have been fine with just three books.
Satisfying conclusion and epilogue wrap up, with a fun little twist during the last couple chapters. Though a couple side characters died, no major ones (well, we thought Alec died but the twist at the end changed it, hurrah!) so that’s good! I’m happy with the HEA and would be up for looking into other Desni-written books in the future.

This series was just plain fun. Fun characters who went through great and thorough development. Interesting enough plot and far enough out of left field to be unique and different.
I loved this series. It was recommended by the author of the course of the gods series and it was well made. Strong female lead mixed in with Greek mythology and some romance. Loved it!
The end. I felt like the big bad, or in this case bad were defeated far to simply, but considering that there was more to it in order to create a HEA without questions it caused the ending to drag. That being said I really enjoyed these books and they are definitely worth a read.
