What A Duke Wants

Rate this book
I can make you feel good… We both could, if you would let us…

A lowly daughter of a Baronet, Violet cannot hide her surprise when the cold and handsome Duke of Ashton arrives at the doorstep demanding to meet her as a prospective bride. More alarmingly, she feels an unexpected thrill at each sternly issued command he barks her way. Including the strange request to have his doctor examine her… alone. Never did she expect to find herself unexpectedly married and at the centre of a sinful arrangement… plaything to a Duke and the doctor, surrendering to their every desire.

All the Duke requires from this marriage of convenience is an heir, but Violet has always tried so hard to please, and now she has not one, but two men whispering their praise into her ear. Will her heart be able to withstand the sensual onslaught?

Great, steamy story. Full of smut, and I'm here for it!

I enjoyed it more than I thought I would, considering it's my first m/f/m trope. I would definitely recommend it if you like erotica and historical romance!

Lady Violet is plucked from her home to be a duchess. The Duke needs an heir and finds that she will suit well. Unbeknownst to Violet, the Duke has eccentric tastes, including a doctor getting in on the act!

Pros:

- Full of well-written extra hot, steamy scenes
- Violet (heroine) is super sweet
- Duke and doctor (heroes) definitely have different personalities but are equally smitten with Violet

Con (if you call it that!):

- Wish it was a full-length book! Only about 80 pages, could be a “pro” for you. :)

Miss Grey has acquired a new fan. 4 stars.

Thanks to Story Origin and its publisher for this arc. All reviews are my own.

I can make you feel good. We both could, if you would let us.

With a tagline like that, and my love for many of the author’s previous novellas/short stories, I was really looking forward to reading this and was excited to receive an eARC from the author.

Ultimately though, this novella didn’t live up to my expectations.

Viola Grey’s A Wife for the Blacksmith had so many swoony, angsty feels, and those feels took the smokin hot sexiness to the next level. That’s what I was looking for in this story, and unfortunately, I didn’t find it. I know the erotica-plus-feels greatness this author is capable of, so fair or not, each time I pick up one of her novellas, that is what I hope to find.

The sexytimes were plentiful and hot and well-written but I felt little emotion or connection between the characters. Still, I’d trade places with Violet any day!

Viola Grey is an auto-buy for me, so I am looking forward to her next story and hoping someday for a full-length novel.

Many thanks to the author for the eARC. All opinions are my own.

Whew this book was hot. Passion was burning and sexual desires are ablaze. The good William Cavendish, Duke of Ashton is seeking a bride and his eyes has landed on Violet. Although I would have like Violet’s age range to have been higher than nineteen. Perhaps twenty four or older. Her character would be of more of a mature age for the theme of the book. The good Doctor Richard had his sites on Violet. The book is a fast pace quick read complete with a very hot night between the three. The story was ok.

3.75 smut-scale stars!

Violet never dreamed she’d find herself in an extravagant life with a Duke as a husband but here she is. The Duke of Ashton claims her as his wife but she never expects that Ashton’s best friend, the doctor Richard, would play a part in their lives.

“We knew the first moment we saw you. It was obvious that you were something bright, shining valiantly in the darkness, waiting for someone to come and find you.”

Ashton and Richard believe they have a certain part to play in this arranged marriage but soon realize Violet is so much more and they both set out to win her heart. A lovely, slightly angsty MFM historical romance. Violet was sweet and unassuming, Ashton was a teddy bear under his rough exterior and Richard was the perfect accompaniment to their group.

“Let him, my sweet Violet. Let him sink himself into you, make you moan on his cock as he fills you, knowing you are already slick and warm with my seed. You have been such a good girl for us, let us show you how much you mean to us.”

While I think this story could have been brilliant if it was longer, it was a really sweet romance that I thoroughly enjoyed. The spice was spicing and the ending was adorable. While I didn’t quite understand how Ashton and Richard got where they are in terms of their sexual preferences (MFM) it was good nonetheless. Viola never fails me with her lovely and spicy historicals.

Thanks to Booksprout for a copy of this ebook and this is my freely given opinion.

This is another short story in Viola Grey's Her Wicked Lord series, and can be read as a stand alone. It tells the story of a sweet, innocent, neglected daughter of a baronet, Volet, who caught the eye of the brooding Duke of Ashton, and his very close friend, Dr. Richard Hamilton.

Ashton contracts a quick marriage with the young miss, and he and Richard embark on teaching Violet the pleasures of the marriage bed, but shared between the two men.

Violet is initially confused, and very shy, but quickly warms to the arrangement as they both devote themselves to drawing her out, and building her confidence, in and out of bed. Ashton, cold, and brooding, warms to the idea of a happy future, and Richard, a widower who lost his child and bride years earlier, finds a new family as well.

As always, Viola Grey writes short historical erotica with a core thread of sweetness and warmth.

3.75 stars out of 5.

Violet has married the handsome Duke of Ashton. She finds herself having sex with both the Duke and the doctor.
This was a short menage novella which was quite entertaining. 5☆

Viola Grey might just be the queen of the quickie.

description

The story begins with Violet unexpectedly being offered marriage by the Duke of Ashton. Despite wondering why he wants to marry her, she's excited for the match. On her wedding night, she discovers that Ashton and his best friend, Dr. Richard Hamilton, share a lot more than their nightly dinners.

description

Since this is a novella, you don't get a lot of backstory, but I think there was enough info to tie everything together well enough. Violet also accepts everything pretty quick since there's not really time for a lot of convincing.

This is also very low, pretty much nonexistent, angst, so if you're looking for a lot of push and pull before things wrap up, this might not hit the spot. Personally, I've had way too many third-act breakups lately, so a story where everyone just bangs all the way to the end without an unnecessary misunderstanding and split was good with me.

description

This was a sweet little smutty read to spend an afternoon with.

I've only read one Grey book previously, The Beast and the Wanton, and I really enjoyed it, so I was super excited about being able to receive an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. They're both really strong novellas, but I enjoyed this one just a bit more because it was more sweet and fluffy. That's more my style when I'm in the mood for a novella.

The Duke, the Duchess, and the Doctor

In "What a Duke Wants", Viola Grey doesn't waste ant time getting to the heart of the story. The Duke, Ashton, wants Violet which is where the story begins, in Violet's family home. She is wearing an unflattering, hand me down dress, she has had a rather strict upbringing in a dreary house, with questionable parents.
The offer of marriage came at a surprise with Violet's baronet father demanding she accept for the connection to a duke would boost his social status. In the duke's company for the initial meeting is his friend and doctor, Richard. Violet is glad to be free of her parents house and control but she has no idea what the duke and the doctor have in store for her. The two men have different personalities—the duke appears cold and aloof, the doctor is gentle and tender. Violet is eased into the ménage relationship with passion, praise, and respect. This short novella is a fast, but enjoyable, read. We get enough of the characters to understand them. This is a historical ménage romance with steaming hot erotic scenes that are well written and fit into the story. Viola Grey does a great job creating characters and plots with satisfying happy ever after endings in the novella format. The ménage in this story is MFM. This particular story even included an epilogue, giving us a glimpse into the future lives of the duke, his duchess, and their doctor. Recommended for fans of Viola Grey, fans of historical erotic romance, and ménage stories.

This is the first time I've ever read a MFM romance. I'll admit that I was very curious as to how such a situation would have come about especially in the Regency period. I honestly could not see how such a story could possibly come to a happy conclusion and how such a relationship could be sustainable even within the confines of fiction.
Now that I've read the book, things are making more sense. Without going into too much detail, Richard and Ashton were friends that had been united by tragedy. Each of them for his own reasons was not able or willing to risk having a traditional MF relationship. Violet was essentially pushed into their circle because her parents wanted to have one less mouth to feed. Any misgivings she may have had about marriage to the duke were quickly dismissed.
To summarize, all of the characters were likable and they treated one another with kindness and respect. I was able to suspend my disbelief enough to enjoy the story. I highly recommend this book for a quick and entertaining read. I received a free ARC from StoryOrigin and this is my honest review.

This novella is the first book I’ve read by Viola Grey and boy is it was a cracking read! It is a mfm regency historical romance.
I love the connection between the three main characters, Violet, Ashton and Richard. The two men have been friends for years. They have been looking for a wife for the Duke of Ashton. While at the local Mayday fair, they see Violet, the daughter of a lowly baronet (who almost dislikes all his daughters for not being boys). The two men see beyond her father’s low title and the duke asks to marry Violet.
After the wedding, Violet discovers that Ashton and Richard share everything together, which surprisingly to her, she also enjoys!
There are some very steamy, open door scenes of intimacy throughout and a great storyline focusing on the growing relationship between them all.
There’s also a lovely epilogue written three years later.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys steamy stories with a developing love story between three lovely people.

Pages of decadence, sensuality, and wantoness

I’ve always enjoyed Grey’s novellas and this one will reign as one of my favorites. This is the first MFM romance that I’ve read by this author. A shy unhappy daughter of a baronet, Viola is coolly greeted by William Cavendish, the Duke of Ashton, and his friend Dr. Richard Hamilton. After a brief introduction Viola is medically examined, in private, by Richard. She is totally baffled by why a duke would take her to be his wife. Once at his estate, Ashton confides in Richard
“She’ll do”. What exactly is Viola’s role as the duke’s wife. Read this story to find out the shocking revelation. Despite it’s being a novella, the story is filled with lush descriptions, engaging characters who are totally appealing and as my title indicates…numerous steamy scenes to make you swoon.

I've never read Viola Grey before, but have read accolades on other platforms, so was intrigued by her offer of an ARC. This is my voluntary review of "What a Duke Wants."
"What a Duke Wants" is a very steamy MFM novella featuring a young woman forced by her despicable parents to wed the Duke, who is in need of an heir. The Duke and the Doctor live together in a deep, long-standing friendship, and share Violet from the beginning. As hard as this seems to do in a novella, the book gives you a distinct sense of the personalities of each of the MCs and how their relationship evolves from a solely erotic interaction to a more romantic one, and the creation of their family. Perhaps because she was so young, sheltered, and more passive, I got less of sense of Violet, who didn't seem to evolve as much emotionally as the two men did (she was still blushing three years later).
I will definitely be reading other books by this author.

I'm a big fan of Viola's writing style. She manages to pack sensual eroticism into a sweet story with content on just a few pages. This story is a quick read with a nice plot, very likable characters and sizzling hot love scenes including MFM Menage and voyeurism.

When Ashton and his friend Richard see Violet for the first time at a fair, they know immediately that she is the right one for them both. Her loving, albeit shy nature fascinates them and Ashton decides to make her his duchess.
Ashton is aloof, arrogant, irascible and has particular proclivities, but Violet marries him anyway to escape her loveless parental home. But it is not only Ashton, but also the gentle and caring Richard who awaits her on her wedding night, and both men offer her carnal pleasure, companionship and affection...

I recommend this book to all lovers of the genre.

This is a novella and I appreciate that it is bit longer than this author’s usual short stories. It has a menage a trois premise. Violet is the innocent daughter of a lowly Baronet who is surprisingly picked to quickly marry Duke Ashton. Little does she know that Ashton has certain intimacy proclivities until she is married. He likes to watch, be domineering and he likes to share with his closest friend Dr Richard. As an innocent, this is Violets first introduction to intimacy, she feels it is a little unusual but it pleases her husband if she obeys him so she goes along. She also discovers that being admired and closely attended to by two men brings a lot of pleasure. Richard is gentle and always considering her from the outset, whereas Ashton is a commanding man who slowly starts to develop feelings for his wife. But can they find a way to be together and achieve a HEA? This is a fun adventurous steamy romp.

What a Duke Wants is a standalone romance erotica by Viola Grey and is part of the Her Wicked Lord series.

This is one seriously hot and relatively quick novella to read. Set in Regency era England, Lady Violet finds herself in an arranged marriage to the darkly handsome and aloof Duke of Ashton. Part of the interview before setting up the marriage contract include a private examination with the duke's best friend and doctor, Richard.

As soon as the marriage is sorted, Violet's new husband is quick to consummate the union. She is confused when Richard is also involved, but Ashton and Richard are easing Violet into their unique arrangement. The men want to share their woman. While this is a purely erotic book, there is also a slight element of instalove.

A wildly erotic ride with a Duke, his duchess and their lover.

This book was spicy, delicious fun. It was easy to read but well written. The characters were imperfect, which lent to a bit of depth to their development in a shorter book. I do wish the book opened up to a bit earlier in time, when the MMCs first see the FMC and decide she is the one. We hear about it after the fact but that would have made a wonderful prologue.

I am not going to retell the story because the blurb explains it well. The MMCs are sexy in their own ways but all the attention is on the FMC and ensuring she enjoys their time together. If you like dirty talk, you will love the sex scenes! Lots of “Good girl” and encouraging, positive talk. It was so darn hot!

If you like HEA, low angst, short, sweet, but HOT, you should definitely try this book. I plan on reading more of Viola Grey now that I have found her!

Extremely well written, full of love, drama, emotions, steam, romance, intrigue and lots of twists. Ashton is a Duke, Richard is the Doctor, both have seen Violet with other children and decide that she would make a good wife. At her father's home, Violet undergoes an exam by Richard who tells Ashton that she would be perfect. An offer is made and Violet is married to Ashton. On the wedding night , Richard is there to assist as a doctor to make the wedding night steamy. As times goes on Violet, Richard and Ashton share lots of steamy scenes together. Together the three of them make and enjoy their family. Such a fantastic read, holds your attention till the end. Can't wait for the next book by this absolutely fantastic author. Such a great story teller. Would strongly recommend to everyone.

Viola has written similar stories before - a duke and a close friend who is a servant or working man sharing his duchess in a steamy menage relationship. I really liked these previous short stories and did really like this one though I feel like it could have been longer and with more details. Specifically, the bond between Ashton and the doctor, Richard. In the other stories (Mastered and Shared by the Duke and As Her Duke Desires - check them out) I understood why the ‘other man’ did or did not attempt to father a child with the Duchess but because I didn’t know enough about the relationship between the two men, I did not understand it in this book. I was also expecting a more salacious scene in the initial doctor’s examination but there is still plenty of Viola’s signature steamy scenes present.

I love having short stories available when I don't have a lot of time and this one was definitely great! Very well written. MFM. Ashton is a brooding character who normally just takes what he wants and doesn't give. Richard, his best friend and doctor, is sweet and intense yet is very compassionate towards others. Violet is wonderful and doesn't know why Ashton picked her to marry but is thankful none the less because he rescued her from a home where she wasn't wanted. Ashton and Richard guide her through this new life and both Richard and Ashton finds themselves falling in love with "sweet Violet." Ashton never thought he could feel for another. All three form a life together and love each other whole heartedly. Wonderful read!

A hot story bordering on erotica involving a duke, his new wife and his best friend. The Duke of Ashton and Doctor Richard Hamilton have a unique relationship, more than friends, closer than brothers, but not lovers. When he sees Violet at a May Day fair, the Duke decides that this young, innocent and guileless woman, who is so full of kindness and love, would make a wonderful mother for his children. They are quickly married and Violet is introduced to the physical delights that both men can give her. This story is quick and sensual, as well as hot and tender….and when all is said and done, it is a story of love and acceptance.

Steamy? Spicy? Sweet? All of the above! This book is EVERYTHING you could want from a MFM Regency Romance.

When the Duke of Ashton arrives at her home, Doctor Hamilton in tow, she has no idea what prompted their visit. It's even more baffling that the duke wants to marry HER! Young, sheltered, unhappy at home, she accepts the offer and, from the start, it's clear to even her inexperienced mind, that this will be no ordinary marriage. What follows is an education of the most erotic kind as Violet learns what is expected of her, and how to get what she wants, as well. Years of trust and friendship have brought Richard and Ashton to this point. Both men knew immediately Violet was the one for them. But they never could have dreamed just how perfectly she would fit into their lives. And their hearts.

Violet is a sweet, gentle, caring young woman in spite of her parents. The Duke and the Dr, Ashton and Richard respectively, were captivated by her demeanor and innocence. She never expected to marry well or to live a life of indulgence. Viola Grey captured Violet’s personality and created a decadent menage that titillated and transformed her into a beautiful, passionate woman. Her men complement each other perfectly and show her love, affection, and adoration. This story is short, but filled with emotion that is heartwarming! I loved the ending!.

Who wouldn’t want not one, but two gorgeous men in love with them? And Violet is so, so lucky in that score! I loved this novella very much, because it’s undoubtedly very hot, but all the feelings are there and the connection between the three characters is very real. Every Viola Grey’s novella is a delicious treat, with great world building despite the brevity of the book, vivid and lovable characters and awesome writing. I can’t wait for the full-length book she promised! (No pressure, Viola!)

I really enjoyed this book and how the men had seen Violet from afar and saw her character and fell for her based on that. Of course, she had no idea why a duke would choose a baronet's daughter for a wife, but since she really wanted out of her demeaning parents' home, she was happy to keep her mouth shut and go along with it. Violet found her voice, the men coaxed it out of her, repeatedly, and everyone had their needs met in this MFM erotic romance. I would have liked a little more backstory on the two men's friendship and how they came understand what proclivities each other had and how they could help each other with fulfilling those needs.

Ashton, a Duke, and Richard, his doctor friend, spot local girl Violet at a village fair. She is the daughter of a baronet, so she is confused when the Duke shows up with Richard to ask her father for her hand in marriage. Life at home isn’t great, so she takes a chance on the Duke.

Turns out the Ashton and Richard are very special friends. They like to share. This novella focuses on Ashton and Richard’s seduction of Violet into the fun of threesomes.

The book is explicit, so don’t read it if you aren’t into that. It was a little frustrating that Ashton and Richard’s relationship was never quite explained, but the book was short, so maybe there wasn’t space for that. Violet learned about passion from the two men, and it was a quick and enjoyable read.

A great ménage story. A Duke and his friend, Richard find the young woman who will become Ashton’s duchess. Violet never expected to marry a Duke and is in for a unique surprise on her wedding night. I enjoyed the story and how they worked together to bring Violet pleasure and a great sense of being loved by her two men. The story is well written and entertaining. I love that there is an Epilogue as it gives you a picture of what has occurred in the future, in this case little Harry. It’s a great story worth reading,

This book was a quick read and just what I needed after reading many dark romances. It's set in the Regency era, I'm not the biggest fan of historical fiction, 95% of the books that I read are contemporary, but I really enjoyed this one and, because it's a quick read, I read another two of Viola's books this afternoon and enjoyed them too. It's an MFM romance, and the three main characters, Violet, Ashton and Richard, are engaging. There isn't a lot of backstory here, but you don't need it. If you have an hour to spare this book is well worth reading.
