Trent Bridger is recognizable anywhere. As the frontman of the world famous band, Rapturous Intent, he is a target wherever he goes because fans say and do anything for his attention. Over the years, he's become jaded toward his rockstar life, never sure if someone wants him for the fame, or for himself. He wants a woman he can trust to be his friend, not just a lover. Becka Edmonson is in charge of PR for VibeTV and has just watched as her "boyfriend" introduced his new fiancee to their co-workers. He told Becka they were on a break, but it appears that the only thing that broke was her heart. Her dad left when she was just a child and she has abandonment issues because of him, and this proves once more that she can't trust men to stay. Trent and Becka have a past, stemming from childhood when they were friends, each other's first kiss, and Trent was Becka's brother, Will's, best friend. That kiss meant a lot to Becka and she hasn't forgotten about him over all these years. As Becka fled the meeting to get away from her ex, she ran right into a human wall and, when he turned around, she saw it was her longtime friend, Trent Bridger. When he looked at her, he saw the real person she is, not any sort of a golddigger, and that's what he's been missing. They easily reconnect their friendship and, as they start spending more time together, those feelings that began long ago are still there. But if they get together and something goes wrong, will it mean the end of their friendship? After their first night of passion, Trent overthinks himself and, in the morning, tells her it was a mistake. He thinks he's preserving their friendship, but he has just signed the death warrant for a future together. This is where the book gets a little tedious and Becka a tad annoying. The "I can't do this" but "I want more" insecurities go on too long in Becka's mind. She's had no problem being honest with Trent before, so this is horribly out of character. Granted, she's been deeply affected by her father's disappearance, but this is getting so old. Becka and Trent spend the next 8 months apart while he's on tour, during which time she refused to answer his texts. I wanted to slap her silly! He has to make a grand gesture if he has any hopes of getting her back. There are multiple currents of stories woven into the main plot and they are done seamlessly. It is very well-written with vividly described characters and situations. Even though they found their HEA, it was rushed and the epilogue is but a set-up for bandmate Miles' story. A very enjoyable read!
