It had always been about the ride. My love for the ride is what fuels me. It’s what drives me. That freedom of the open road in front of you, with not a damn thing holding you back, is what I crave.
I don’t need much. Shit, I don’t want much out of life. My bike, my club, my brothers, my money, and occasionally a warm and willing women in my bed is what I need.
I liked my life that way. It works for me. I enjoyed the familiarity of it. But slowly things were changing. I can feel that change in the air. It's everywhere. There comes a point in your life where things just change. No matter how much I fight it. No matter how hard I hang on, it's changing. Whether by choice or not. For better or worse it gets turned upside down on its fucking head.
The moment I laid eyes on her shit changed forever. Things were on there way to changing, but fuck if she didn't tip that shit right over. She hit me like a blow to the chest, crippling me. Rocking my world. That girl completely blew everything I thought I wanted to shit. She took me on a wild ride and for better or worse she changed everything for me.
Lil
The loud rumble of pipes fills me with a sense of home. Deep gruff male voices remind me of nights spent sitting at the bar listening to the guys tell me stories. The smell of leather, grease, and smoke brings back memories of hot summer days spent around the compound. The sound of classic rock makes me want to dance. A group of rough and mean men makes me smile. Seeing a beautifully crafted bike makes my heart beat a little faster. A man in leather always makes me hot. The feel of the vibration through my body from a perfectly tuned bike takes me right back to my old life. Some things never change. Sometimes those things are never meant to change.
Although much hadn't changed since I left, a few things had. The loss of loved ones, the addition of new ones. With one new addition to life things changed for me forever. My life will never be the same. He changed it all.
Reader. Writer. Crazy person. Lover of all things home décor and the color black.
Jaci lives on the coast in the beautiful Pacific Northwest with her lovely, but crazy family. If she's not reading or writing you can find her wandering the isles of a home store or hanging out with her monster son.
She's the author of The Hell's Disciples MC series and The Sick and Twisted Love series.
I'm not too snobby on grammar or punctuation errors IF I can get into the book and it doesn't stop the flow of the story.
This was just bad. And it's a shame because I do like the story which was the ONLY reason I finished it.
I read some of the reviews on this book (after I had finished it) and everyone completely agrees that this book needs a major editing re-haul.
I'm just flabbergasted? Because .. I mean... really? Follow vs fallow? That was the one that bugged me most because I admit misspelling is a pet-peeve of mine. Most people should be able to figure out that the red squiggly line underneath your misspelled word means something! But follow. FOLLOW. That's just... IMO such a simple word!
There was also a mix up of aesthetics vs ascetics. That, okay, those are big words, but they also mean TWO DIFFERENT THINGS. The ascetics of a shack would mean the shack was practicing some sort of strict spiritual discipline vs. its aesthetics - meaning it wasn't looking very nice because it is a shack after all.
Mixing up patients with patience. So she's a horrible doctor who's losing patients all because her man wouldn't do what she wanted him to do at that exact time.
And someone please tell me WTF is feining? Or what is chock? How can you chock on something? Or that she shutters around him. Hmm, I'm not sure I would like reading a story about how a woman turns into window treatments whenever she's near a man. Just saying. I shudder in thought of that.
And man, I guess this is a PNR/UF book too because there's this one character who's eyes can "wonder" upon someone's body. Mine can only wander.. my BRAIN can wonder in fascination upon someone's body. But not my eyes.
It's a book about a heroine who is a professor who does a "shit loud of paperwork". A hero who likes blown things up. Or rather, blowing things up.. but you know, either works unless you're a stickler on things being written correctly or in proper structure.
Ohhh boy. I couldn't go TWO whole pages without running into some type of glaring error and I had to rant to everyone and any one nearby >_<
This book was a train wreck with editing/formatting issues. The editing is so bad I cannot understand how an author let the book be released with such glaring errors. It was a pretty good story line with some good characters with real, gritty MC behavior and a good love story. When will an author understand that such a badly edited book reduces the book rating? I would have rated this book four stars if the errors were reduced by even one half. And the kicker to me was when I read the "About the Author" at the end of the book. Totally error free, good grammar and an excellent three pages of good English composition. Tell me how three pages about the author can be written so well when the whole book is embarrassing with errors. Come on authors, take accountability for what you are publishing. I hope this author tries again because the capability to write a good story is there. Sadly I will be hesitant to buy another book without getting reviews from other people.
Review and rating updated to 4 stars after clean version of the book was released. Very good story and now I have read all 3 books in the series.
I Loved it sooo much! At first the story started off to a good start and you got to see lily and Tank's relationship progress, however towards the middle it seemed to lag on with unnecessary information. But the ending is just WOW! I really wanted an epilogue to see what happens next... but I really hope to read more about Peaches and Gin's story.
I actually loved this book, loved it so much I stayed up til 2:49 a.m. finishing it, and was late for work this morning but soo worth it.
I loved Lil from page one, yes she is the MC princess, daddy is the president but she wasn't a brat, she didn't think her ish smelled.
I especially enjoyed the character build in this one, I felt as though I was right amongst Lil and Peaches, giggling, dancing and having a ball. Lil is sweet, she doesn't whine, doesn't nag I am totally crushing on her. With Tank it was like you were a part of something so big, you were able to see him grow from a man ho' to a man in love, the journey was beautiful.. at times scary, heartfelt but so so beautiful.
An epilogue would have been nice, however I was satisfied with the ending and I will let my mind do the rest.
DNF -- usually I can ignore a few grammatical and misspelled words; however, there were just way too many -- lack of punctuation, improper use of words. The over use of fallowed instead of followed. "Walking behind her, I fallow her to my bike". Sever their purpose rather than serve their purpose... Ya instead of Yeah...Funny thing is the h is supposedly a college professor and corrects the H's grammar.
The book needs editing and grammatical correctness. But the story is good. My first language is Portuguese, so I had some difficulties due to grammar errors. The story is pretty cool and I really enjoyed the characters. I hope the author follow with a book for each Member of the MC!
Club Whore: "I swear they all shop at the whore Baby Gap!" (LOL)
I'm not one who gets really caught up in the grammar & etc in a book. It's something I can usually overlook & still be able to get into the meat of a story. This was too distracting. I had to keep going back over passages to figure out if it was verbal or mental dialog as well as who's POV. The usage of incorrect words drove me batty to the point I stopped keeping track at 17.
These were the most irritating:
Fallow instead of follow Vary instead of very Chock instead of choke
With some editing I think this could be a good read. In my opinion it needs more work and wasn't ready to be released.
Normally I can ignore when a book still needs to be edited but this was so distracting it took away from the actual story. Maybe I have an old version? After all, this book has been on my kindle for YEARS (I'm trying to make a good dent in reading the books I already have!).
Judging by this book, this series isn't what anyone would deem 'safe' by any means but sometimes I like to step out of my comfort zone (and sometimes that works for me). Too bad the editing let down what could have been a decent read.
I've just read 'Sick Bastard' by this author and loved it so I decided to check out her other books and I found this, the reviews were very mixed although when I looked closer a lot were about the editing or rather the lack of editing but since this was 'Newly Edited & Revised' I was good to go. I love MC books anyway so I was positively giddy starting this and it worked for me, I really enjoyed this but it's very similar in a lot of ways to 'Sick' strong alpha male falls instantly and hopelessly into obsession with a beautiful, confident, independent woman who swears like a sailor, she feels the same instant attraction but keeps him at arms length for awhile. There was an excellent line in 'Sick' "I know, baby. Whatever you want. It’s your world London, I just live in it .” It was too good to use only once and I've no problems I was just surprised to find it's in 'Ride' as well, well I suppose technically it was in 'Ride' first "Whatever you want, always. It's your world baby, I just live in it.” Most of the time I loved Tank, I say most because he annoyed me at times and most of the time I loved Lil. I have to say it's first time I've come across club girls being called gash....not a fan. While I enjoyed this book I've just read some the reviews for 'Crash & Burn' and I'm not sure I'm up for that, I'll see.
I'm glad to see i'm not the only one that had problems with the grammar and editing. i am pushing my way through this to the end but its not easy going. CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH EDIT!!!! EDIT!!! EDIT!!

I love a faithful biker. Loved Tank and Lil together. Cried a lot at the end there. Really wish there was an epilogue or maybe a half book for an update.
Thank god Gin and Peaches weren't the main characters. All they did was fight and him cheat left and right. Not my favorite thing in a story it really kind of destroys it for me a lot of the time, so I'm glad Tank was a good guy in that sense.
The spelling errors didn't bother me at all but there were quite a few mistakes.
I probably would have given this 4.5 stars because of the mistakes but I really loved this story enough to move past that and rate it on the actual story itself.
Would totally recommend it unless you can't get into a book because of spelling and stuff. That might put you off. Unless you're like me and it simply doesn't matter as long as you understand what it really meant.
So but it it was fun, sweet, gritty and emotional.
The ride. few editing issues but putting them aside!! 4**** Love Hot bikers??? Lots of hot bikers??This story is crammed full of them. Tank is sexy ass leather clad biker, vice president of the disciples. Lil is hot headed and strong willed but is so the daughter of the president and is out of bounds to all the boys.
We haven't read a good biker book in a long time,,The ride really got our engines humming. The end of the book is fantastic so much action! It even had us crying by the end hoping everything would be ok. The sex scenes are great not over powering for a change. We want to be part of their "family" who wouldn't!!! We are so glad it's not a cliff hanger don't think we could of waited to see what's happens to tank and Lil.
DNF, quite at 40%. I am in a major book slump. For every 1 book that I read that is good I seem to read 5 or 6 that are mediocre at best. So frustrating as I try to base my purchases on reviews and do not understand how people can review something so dumb downed as 5 stars. This book awful. A 25-year old heroine who acted like she was a teenager. Immature writing. Only make it to 40% as every chapter was the same. The hero wants the heroine and the heroine wants the hero, but neither do anything about it. There was no storyline up to that point and I was bored out of my mind. The writing was somewhat immature for me.
Good biker story! Just hope this book gets a good edit. It can get confusing if there's a change in scene as well. Over all this story is better than a lot of MC books I read. And the end was too abrupt. An epilogue would have been appreciated.
Liked the story, like the characters, liked the plot. Why only two stars? The grammar! The spelling and mis-use of words was extremely frustrating to get past. Fallow versus follow appears so many times it's ridiculous. I'm not a grammar nazi but this book was frustrating to read.
DISCLAIMER TO MY FELLOW GOODREADER This review is my personal opinion and may contain: spoilers, quotes, rants, cussing (sometimes I cannot help myself) and a possible full on recap. I in no way want to ruin anyone’s book reading experience so please read my words with caution.
**The edition now available has been extensively edited, so do not let the negative reviews warn you off.**
30 year old Roman "Tank" became the Hells Disciples MC Vice President under Low (mother charter) after his father passed away. He loves the open road and a woman in his bed. No woman is allowed on his bike until she is his Old Lady. Things begin to change when she returns to town.
"Never fucking saw it coming. It hits me like a Goddamn truck. Every man at that table gets whiplash as the double doors push open and collective groan is directed at the beauty walking into the room."
Eight years ago Lilly "Lil" Cruz, daughter to the President of Hells Disciples MC, needed space from her big biker family to spread her wings. The catalyst for Lil leaving was her boyfriend betraying the club, breaking her heart and him being killed for his transgressions (in front of her). As the club princess, Lil accepted his punishment but the damaged was done. After the death of her mother, 25 year old Lil has returned to help her father at the club. This is when she meets him and everything changes.
"Ya know you're my favorite person here." "Is that right?" "That's right. I think I'm keepin' you."
Lil left her life in Seattle. She came home because her dad needed her, but he's always putting club business first. She can't help but think why she's even back. Peaches (best girl) and Gin (her cousin/brother) are always getting into it. Been together 10 years and it's the same shit. He cheats she stays. Round and round. Threats from a rival club are getting more dangerous. They seem to want Lil and won't stop until they have her. Lil is a tiny little badass. Is Tank the man for her?
"For all the dark, for all the death, the brutality and destruction, this is a club full of family. Loyalty and love for one another. A family who will unconditionally support and back you without a need for reason. A group who protects each other no matter the situation. A club who's bonds burn fiercely. Always taught to protect, support, and love what is ours."
No epilogue.
Cliffhanger – no (book 1 series) POV - Tank and Lil
So I purchased this because I'm a huge MC fan and this seemed like a great book. It had mixed reviews but I noticed that most of the negative reviews had nothing to do with the actual story line, it was readers complaining about the editing or rather lack of. So with that being said, I will say this story line was eh, okay. Not the best but not the worst. There was so much repetition, it was driving me insane. Lil was gone but then returned, she was back for months but kept going on about how happy she was to be back, how she missed this and that, she wouldn't shut up about it, trust me we got it the first ten times you said it. Her relationship with Tank was repetitive as well, it was on a loop, their lives revolved around each other. He would leave, she would stay, he would return, she would cuddle next to him and say she missed him, next day the same thing, the sex was hot but that's about it.
Lil was tough and not a pushover, I loved that about her. She knew how to defend herself and her friends. She wasn't dependent on anyone. Her friends were annoying as hell, especially Peaches, what was up with her being naked all the time? What a weirdo.. There was a good amount of intrigue and action that kept the reader interested, too bad it mostly takes place towards the end of the book.
Unfortunately, I think I was punked into buying an old version of this book as this copy was in badly need of editing. I was under the impression this book was rewritten and edited and a brand new BETTER version was out but that's not true or at least Barnes n Noble doesn't have the new version. It was hard pushing through a book when there were so many grammatical errors like these:
These were just the most repetitive errors, I'm not even including the misspelled words, the lack of punctuation marks, etc.
Mistakes like these really do bring down the ratings of books, doesn't matter how good the story line is. In this case I would have given this book three stars because i wasn't too thrilled with Lil and Tank's story, but all of the grammatical errors brings down my rating to a two and the lack of editing brings it down to a one...hope book two is better!
First, let me say that I enjoyed this book. However, I suggest that you download a sample first (if you have an e-reader, of course), and base your purchasing decision on your enjoyment of the sample. One thing that I've learned is the MC books are a lot like a steak, everyone wants it different. This book is not as hardcore as Madeline Sheehan, whom I love, but I think her MC books are about as hardcore and gritty as it gets.
I actually read this book a while back, but once the second book in this series was released, I needed to catch up, so I skimmed back through this on so I could recall what went down in this book.
Here's the rundown: First, know that this is a MC book, which means it's the run of the mill formula: "tough biker who doesn't do relationships falls for the girl who is off limits". Now even though that basic premise has been and continues to be done, the author does write it well. This MC has problems that this book dives into, so it does keep you interested. This book is written from both POV's (and done so extremely well).
First up is Tank. I really loved him. She wrote him very well and epitomized the alpha biker to a T. He's got a dirty mouth, sexy, and knows how to please a woman.
Lilly (Lil) is the princess of the Hell's Disciples and so of course, off limits. It's no spoiler that Tank and Lil are going to fall for one another and it being a MC book, means that in the process, shit will go down.
If you've read the synopsis, you already know what the story is about, so I'm not going to go into detail. I don't want to give too much away. I don't like to write spoilers if I can avoid it. So if you like MC reads, I think you will enjoy this book. If you are not a fan of foul language and hot sex, then I wouldn't spend the money. But I will say that if you are not a fan of those things, you probable shouldn't be checking out MC books in the first place. Overall, a good read. The second book in the series (Crash and Burn) is out, but you will need to read this book first.
Tank is the VP of The Hell's Disciples Motorcycle Club. He; loves the open road. Wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. That is until he meets Lil, the President's daughter. The moment he saw her walk through the Church doors she changed him forever.
Lil grew up in the club. After a while she wanted her own life away from the club, but eight years later her father asked for her help. Lil loves club life. It’s her family. Some things never change. Sometimes those things are never meant to change. Although much hadn't changed since I left, a few things had. The loss of loved ones, the addition of new ones. With one new addition to life things changed for me forever. My life will never be the same. He changed it all.
I was hooked from the first page. This is not your typical MC novel. I think it’s one of the best I've read. I loved the back and forth between Tank and Lil. This was such a good story.
I can’t wait to read the next book. I like how Tank is very very Alpha. He wants something he just does whatever he has to do to get it. I like that this book is in both Tank and Lil's point of view.
When its Tank, it actually seems like you’re in a guy's head and I love that. Nothing mushy lovey stuff but an actual biker guy. I cried at the end of the book. With Tank being such an Alpha it was nice to see his softer side for once in the book.
I’m so excited, to read what happens next. When you finish this book even though there is no cliffhanger there is a continuation to this story. Don’t forget to check it out as well. I would highly recommend this book.
This should have been a great and wonderful read, but in the end I was just like 'meh'. This book was kind of lacking in everything, and everything includes emotional depth, connection with characters, passion, sex, love, connection with the plot. Almost all of this book is just Lil and Tank together, you don't get a girls night with tons of talking, don't get guy's shooting pool, it's just Lil and Tank and their different POV's. The one fight, one and only kid you not, that Lil and Tank have is thrown in so that Lil's father can announce that he basically hand picked Tank to be his Son-in-Law. The story takes place over a period of like 6 months, and while realistic in that sense it would have been more compelling to have it cover just 2-3. And one of my biggest issues right off the get go with this book was that the paragraphs were to freaking long, I swear that some of them took up a whole page if not a page and a half, it was difficult to get into a rhythm when I kept losing my place. A disappointing 2 stars in the end.
I don't wanna be mean and harsh but wow, this book was horrible. I hated How they spoke, I hated how half the book was made up of the word fuck, and I just hated it. I've never been so relieved to finish a book in my life. But if you like stupid drama and men referring to their girls as bitches, then this is for you. If I could rate this lower than 1 I would.
Poor editing and bunch a spelling/wrong word but spelled correctly errors, I LOVE ME SOME BAD ASS BIKERS! My Achilles heel is bad ass biker tears or puppy dog eyes....NOT FAIR! I was completly drawn in to the characters and their surroundings. LOVED IT!
Got to page 50 before the spelling errors started to annoy me and could not read anymore. Because of that, I am not going to read her other books as I don't like to miss books in series. It's easier for me to just give up on the whole series
The book has potential I didn't mind the storyline .. However at one stage I was re reading finding errors n others inconsistencies even with characters names incorrect for scene .
Otherwise I enjoyed this book .. Could certainly do with a re read n edit .,
