Horatio has long dreamed of finding someone to spend his life with, but he never imaged he would be standing in front of an abandoned castle about to step in. At the insistence of his parents, Horatio has journeyed to Strawberry Hill—the once opulent and thriving royal home—to traverse its maze-like halls and find the princess to wed.

The path won't be easy. The castle is filled with ghosts of former residents, magic mirrors, moving portraits, possessed suits of armor, and an enchantress. Yet as he journeys on, Horatio finds himself questioning his own motives and desires. When he encounters a mysterious figure, he'll be set on a course to discover his true self and find the love of his life.

About the author

Logan Spurgeon is a speculative fiction author originally from Houston, Texas. After leaving a doomsday cult, he received his M.A. in Theology and Ethics and revived his lifelong passion for writing and storytelling.

He is the author of The Castle on the Inside, Hinterland, Sourwood, and The House on Garnet Hill. His short story The Silkworm can be found in Crow Lore: An Anthology. His novels have been featured in Twisted Retreat and Crow Book Box. In addition, Logan has been featured on several podcasts including Weird Reads and ZombPocalypse.

When he isn’t writing, Logan can be found wandering around vintage stores, hiking, tending to his plants, or having deep conversations about life. He now resides in Lexington, Kentucky.
