I read this book first so the audiobook was a re-read. The second time round I fell more in love with this book.
I like a lonely guy romance and Austin is a loveable guy with a toughness that’s hard to crack.
✅ Sports Romance ✅ Single mum ✅ One night just isn’t enough
Austin is a complex guy with childhood trauma. Hockey is his escape and he doesn’t let people get close. When he meets Maddison he’s not looking for anything serious and luckily neither is she. What’s beautiful about this story is that it doesn’t feel forced. Their relationship grows as they both realise they need someone. Both have issues and emotional baggage. Their feelings mature like a good wine.

I love Lakeshore U series very much, and if I'll say to you that I didn't want to read Austin Hart's story for the very first book, I would blatantly lie to you!!! This boy with the strained relationship with his younger sister and his unpenetrable walls intigued me so much and I knew that his story will be powerful!!! Lianne paired him with the parfect girl, even though she was a package deal with a small girl!!! Their story wasn't an easy one, but it was sweet and beautiful!! I liked seeing a more tender side of the team's grumpy, and Austin, welcome to the dark side, as Noah would say!!! LOL!!!
"He was the goalie for one of the best teams in college hockey. He wasn't used to losing. But I wasn't some trophy or prize he could win."
Austin is a man of few words and he is keeping mostly to himself and the few friends that he has allowed inside his circle... He is the goalie of Lakeshore U and he is still undecided of which path will choose after graduation... He is bitter and the past is still haunting him... Love is not in the dictionary for him, even though his friends have found their special ones... He knows that something missing from his life, but he doesn't really know what it is until a girl is hitting on him on a bar when he is in a low point in his life...
"A girlfriend was a complication I didn't want or need. One I was almost certain I couldn't handle. So why the fuck couldn't I stop thinking about Madison?"
Madison is a very young, sinlge mom who is killing herself doing two jobs for her daughter to have a better life... She needs help and thankfully, she has a handful of people in her corner, still... she is struggling to be everywhere at once... Her past is still chasing her and she has no time for a man in her life... When her friends are daring her to talk to the hot man at the bar, she is reluctantly doing it and Austin Hart is becoming a lovely distraction... A distraction that starts to feel something more as the time is passing by....
"Austin and my daughter were two paths that never needed to cross. She was my world, and he was a temporary distraction."
Austin and Madison are becoming each other's distraction, but what they think is something temporary, this thing is putting roots inside of them and it is impossible to pull it out... They only getting deeper and deeper, but they are on different paths in life and they can not become what the other needs, right??? The only sure thing is that I enjoyed their ride very much... They were fitting so perfectly together...
"I wasn't supposed to catch feelings."
Madison was an extraordinary girl who was a mother and motherhood was what was always coming first for her and I admired her for that... Austin wasn't the usual college boy. He was more mature and his demons were burying him down.. He needed something to bring light into his world and Madison was perfect for him... And that little cute girl of hers was so loveable that no one could resist her... including me.
"I don't need to run anymore..."
This was another one beautiful story set in Lakeshore U. A world that I love, almost as much as Rixon Raiders world... And if I am not mistaken, I haven't personally ever read a book by L. A. Cotton with a single mom in it and I liked it!!! And to be honest here, it hit very close at home!!! But in my life, I was Immy!!! Just one more story is remaining in this world and I am feeling exciting and at the same time, sad that this lovely series will come to an end... I wonder who will be next... Maybe coach Carson???
"Five guys more than friends or teammates. They were family. One I was forever grateful to be a part of."

“Madison Reynolds was my kryptonite, and I was weak, weak man around her.”
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶🌶
I love this series and am disappointed that it’s over. Leanne always hits you right in the heart and that’s exactly what she did again. She rocked this book. Austin Hart has finally found love.
We all know Austin to be the broody grumpy goalie, who wouldn’t open up to anyone. Not even his sister could get through to him. He’s closed off until he meets Madison Reynolds. Austin is hanging out by himself drinking at a bar. He’s feeling like the outcast within his friend group. They all have found love and know where their lives are heading after graduation. While wallowing in his feelings he is approached by a gorgeous girl. Madison was dared by her friends to approach him. They ended up hitting it off. Later they decided on a friends with benefits relationship since Madison is a single mother. Things started to get complicated when Austin started to develop feelings for Madison. Can Madison allow a new man into her and her daughter’s life? Is Austin ready to become a family man?
I finally got a peek behind Austin’s mask. We get the reasons why he was so guarded and we watch him open up and allow loved one’s in. The found family in this series is one of my favorite. Then we have princess Imogen who is extremely adorable. She will melt your heart. I love watching the hockey player with attachment issues falling for the single mom. I eat it up every single time. The chemistry between Austin and Madison was scorching hot. I loved everything about this story. Leanne did not disappoint.
Tropes: hockey, angst, single mom, friends with benefits, found family.
Leanne this book is outstanding! 🤌🏼 Thank you so much for the ARC
I was long awaiting the much anticipated conclusion to this great series….and the grumpy goalie finally gets an HEA. And of course, in classic Austin style he’s not going to make it easy.
Oh Austin. He’s resistant, he’s got baggage, he’s holding on to a lot of stuff, and he just can’t seem to get it together. Even after watching all his friends find their HEAs (and make their own mistakes). Their HEA’s seem to grind his gears, actually- but me thinkst he doth prtest too much, especially when he meet a mysterious woman and their one night ends up turning into a a hesitant friendship with benefits. And Madison actually has her own
GAH. I wanted to shake Austin. He’s so closed off, so hard to crack. I wish he’d dealt with some of ish sooner, especially with his sister. But I’m so glad he found Madison, who honestly needs a little shaking herself. Austin needed to find someone who helped him learn to forgive himself, to open his heart. And Madison needs to find her confidence again, to help her find herself after a painful baby daddy situation and working hard as a young single mom. But together they are able to find themselves.
I so wanted to adore this story- I love a grumpy redemption, the hardest guy finding his love. And I did love Austin and Madison. I just felt like the pace didn’t quite work for me in places. There relationship felt far too physically focused even after things evolved and then all of a sudden Austin is all in, in a way I didn’t quite believe, and the push-pull lingered too long for me personally which left the end feeling a bit rushed/resolved too fast in places. But, I did like them together, and I adore that Austin finally got his HEA.
3.5 stars
🏒”Only one night” that turns into more 🏒Second Chance 🏒Both have baggage 🏒Hockey 🏒Single Mom 🏒Friends with Benefits 🏒Push-Pull 🏒Grumpy Goalie
Cold as Ice was another great book in this series! Austin really surprised me. He was so hurt, so broody and he was just breaking my heart. But it did piss me off a little how he kept making things worse with everyone instead of just talking things out. I understood he was hurt by his past and everything with Rory but he could have just opened up and talked a lot of it out instead of just avoiding everyone.
Madison was such a great heroine. I really loved her and her daughter was so adorable! The way she loved that kid and did everything for that little girl. There were so many interesting people in Madison’s life. I kinda of wanted more of them!
Austin and Madison worked so well together. It was interesting how he was with her, I mean when he wasn’t being skittish that is ahah. They fit and just found each other in the right moment in their lives where they could help each other open up and heal from old wounds. It was beautiful to watch their relationship change and grow.
There were so many things to enjoy in this book. The friendship as always were incredible, not just between the Lakers and their girls but Madison’s besties were 5 stars! Although, all set of parents were underwhelming in this one, some worst than others.
I love how Madison’s daughter formed such a connection with Scotty. Moments with those two together were precious and hilarious. Madison fit right in with the girls even before they all knew she and Austin were a thing. Loved that for her.
I’m sad this series is coming to an end because I’ve loved every single couple and I wish more guys got their own story but I am excited to see who the last novella in the series will be about. I’m rooting for Coach Carson.

Austin Hart was clearly a master in the art of seduction, and I was all too happy to fall prey to his tactics.
4 stars
I can't believe that we finally have our favorite grumpy goalie's story! Austin has been the most surly and standoffish Laker, and I have to say that my heart broke for his feelings of remorse and unworthiness. Both Austin and Madison are more guarded and cautious because of their complicated pasts, but they cannot deny the immediate connection between. I have to admit that I struggled to feel that deep connection between them. There was a lot of talk of their connection, but other than their steamy physical attraction, I never saw MORE.
Also it might be just me, but I found Imogen's character slightly annoying--do four year olds really talk like that? I have no idea. I don't have kids, I don't want kids, so her constant "woves" and "wooks" annoyed the hell out of me. Other than that, I did enjoy getting to see Austin's softer side as he interacted with Imogen, especially during the climactic ending. I loved seeing the rest of the Lakers happy and in love, and I'm sad to see the end of this series🖤
Tropes: no-strings attached, tortured hero, single mom, grumpy/sunshine, hockey romance, she falls first/he falls harder, band of brothers, STEAMY🔥

The waiting is over and Austin is finally here ! I knew his book will deliver lot of feelings but I didn't expect how much of a journey it will be. L. A. Cotton delivers angsty page turner, that I didn't want to put down. . I was so so curious about Austin's book but I would never expect that author will match him with single mom. Thru this series his character was not giving any chances, since the beginning he seemed to be shutted down everyone - even for his sister Rory . After finishing Cold as Ice, I'm in awe. From chapter to chapter author showed true evolution of love and trust between Austin and Maddie. They way how much they both needed eachother, how author explained why they we're perfect match... I'm speachless! Step by step author created story that was filled lot of angst and heartbreak, but also uncoditional and beautiful love. There's any other author like LA Cotton, who knows how to write about young love that meets many bumps on a way to happiness. . Cold as Ice was amazing, I'm so glad that Austin finally got his happy ending.
Cold as Ice is the 4th book in the Lakeshore U series. This book is about Austin and Madison and is told from both of their points of view.
Madison and Austin meet when she goes up to a stranger at a bar. Austin gives her a fake number and she confronts him about it. He's not in the right frame of mind to date, but something about Madison intrigues him.
Madison is a single mom trying to do anything she can to protect her child. She has feelings for Austin but will do anything for her child first.
I loved getting to know Austin and Madison and seeing both of their battles. They both go through so much to see if they can come out on top. I enjoyed this book, as well as the rest of the series.
Austin's book was the one I had been waiting for! And Lianne didn't disappoint
He was the brooding grumpy goalie I had expected (and wanted) and it was a lot of fun following his journey from closed off and wracked with guilt, to finding and embracing love
Madison was the perfect FMC for him, she balanced him well and gave him the support and love he needed
Cold As Ice had humour, angst (lots of it), spice, danger, banter, friendship.... everything. It had everything
Firstly thank you to LA Cotton and the team for approving my arc request. I fell in love with Lakeshore U series last year and I've been loving every single one of these stories. I read this in one sitting, it was addictive and I loved Maddi and Austin, it was honestly such a sweet and cute love story.
Read this for -sport college romance - single mom - college hockey player -found family -friends with benefits - sweet love story
“Cold as ice” is the 4th book in the lakeshore u series.
This series by far is my favourite series that L A Cotton has written to date! I have devoured and loved every single release in this series. I have been sitting on tenterhooks waiting for Austin’s story and when it finally landed on my kindle I couldn’t contain my excitement.
Austin is lakeshore U’s grumpy goalie with a guarded heart. He holds a mass of guilt from his childhood and he is struggling to let go, he never gets close he has watched his team mates fall in love. When Maddison crashes into Austin’s world will she be able to thaw his icy heart?
Madison like Austin has been through a lot in her young life but she’s a fighter and a force to be reckoned with. I don’t think there is anyone more perfect for Austin than Maddison their chemistry was chefs kiss. As always L A Cotton has written an outstanding addition to this phenomenal series.
Austin and Madison were only supposed to happen one time. But their chemistry is undeniable and they both decide to be friends with benefits. Nothing more, right? Because Austin doesn't want to settle down and Madi has enough on her plate, right?
----------
I have been waiting for Austin's story and it delivered so perfectly!!
I fell in love with Madison and Immy, her daughter, who's such a ray of sunshine. The scenes with her and Scottie are the best! I love the way Immy and Austin meet the first time. And the fact that Austin isn't all sunshine and roses at first, but he takes the time to think about everything before committing.
Madi and Austin both have had a tough past and I'm glad Austin finally found closure and opened up to Rory. The spice scenes are so good. And the ending is perfect.
The entire Lakeshore U series has been such a delight!! It’s a little bitter sweet to have ended the series on Austin, he has really been a bit of an enigma the entire series. But in this book, we were able to see all of his internal struggles while he navigated his infatuation with Maddie. I felt like their storyline had a lot going on, and really the book could have been a million pages longer and I would have still loved it! But LA Cotton wrapped this hockey series up perfectly with this final book!
This was such a great book! I loved finally getting to read Austin’s story and seeing him open up with Madi.
Madi accepts a dare to hit on the lonely mysterious hottie at the bar, after getting his number she doesn’t think she’ll see him again. The chemistry between Austin and Madison was pretty much instant, but both of them are not looking for anything serious.
After hooking up Austin suggests they continue to explore the chemistry between them as a friends-with-benefits deal but lines start to blur.
Madi is also keeping a pretty big secret…. She has a 4 year old daughter. This of course spooks our hockey boy.
Immy was just the cutest! And I love the banter between the Hockey bro’s.
Oh Austin my poor heart, I absolutely love love love him.
If you've read any of the Lakeshore u series your will know that we've already been introduced to Austin, I was so ready for his story, what I wasn't ready for was how much I loved him. The emotions Cold as Ice brought to the surface made my heart hurt. I laughed, cried and held on for dear life whilst they tried to navigate through their feelings. Austin is cocky and has a drop your pants dirty smirk but it's a front. Madi is trying to find herself again. The depth of this story had me in awe. I absolutely loved these two, it's heartbreaking and raw, full of longing and heat.
This book is pure perfection and another fantastic addition to a phenomenal series.
I loved Austin and Madison’s story. Madison is so strong and works so hard to be a good mom despite everything life has dealt her. Austin struggles with the idea of love because he’s never truly experienced it, and for that I just wanted to wrap him up and never let him go.
Madison is a single mom for a spunky 4-year old, and she rarely does anything for herself. But one night her friend gets to TL go out and she meets Austin, LU hockey player who is against commitment. After talking for a bit they both decided that they’re not in a place for a relationship, but agree to give friends with benefits a shot- that is until Madison’s daughter almost finds them together and Austin suggests they ‘cool down’. They’re both fighting some tragic pasts, while also trying to figure out what they want in the future.
💜Single mom 💜Hockey romance (college) 💜Found family 💜Tragic past 💜Friends with benefit
Don't you just love when the jaded 'who needs love' dude falls head over heels - with a single mum and her young daughter!!
Austin is the goalie for Lakeshore U and has watched his buddies fall in love and plan their futures and he's still floating. He doesn't believe in love, he's angry at a lot of things, he won't forgive his mum (who doesn't deserve forgiveness) and he won't forgive himself for what happened to his sister (it wasn't his fault!) And then Madi hits on him one night when he's drowning his sorrows. But there's more to Madison than he ever thought and things get tricky!!
Can he man up? Can he admit that he actually has feelings? Can Madi trust again because that girl has had it tough and will it all work out .....
Really enjoyed it and definitely recommend
*I voluntarily received an arc and this is my honest review.
Cute but I’ll probably forget about this book tomorrow. For the first 80% of this book things were just really realllyyyy repetitive but I didn’t mind that much. And then it took a turn and became a kind of romantic suspense which was a little odd since it isn’t marketed as one and none of the other books in this series is a romantic suspense book. It kind of fell flat too?? Honestly I wish it wasn’t included at all because it didn’t really add anything to the story. This book is a MAJOR upgrade from some of the previous books in this series though! I don’t know what was going on at the start of this series but they were written in such a misogynistic way. Anyway this book was cute!
Cold as Ice is the fourth book in the Lakeshore U series. This is a friends with benefits, single mom, college hockey romance. Austin is a grumpy guarded hero with a tragic past that he has process and eventually heal and Madison is a strong and young single mom who despite her life difficulties and trauma is completely devoted to her daughter Immy. Mad and Austin are perfect for each other, they balance, support and love each other in a way they really both needed! Princess Imogen is the cutest kid ever and every other member of Madison's friends and the Austin's Lakeshore U found family is amazing!
I loved this one but I did find the constant pulling away irritating at times. And at the end (if you read it, you will know), that scene was so not necessary in a romance book but oh well (3.5 stars)
I really enjoyed Madison and Austin's story. I've been waiting for his so that we can find out the true Austin and not the Austin that everyone else sees. Madi is such a strong and independent person but when she falls for someone she falls hard. She sees past Austin's grumpiness and together they both help each other evolve and feel alive again. Austin is feeling things with Madi that he has never felt before and helps Madi take that leap with him so that they are both all in. I really enjoyed following these two in their journey for a HEA even though I did shout at Austin a few times 😂 Another amazing addition to the series!
LA has done it again! I've read every one of the Lakers stories and every time I think Austin is so angry and standoffish all the time. I've been waiting for him to tell his side of the story so we can see things from his perspective. He's held onto a lot of anger and resentment for a very long time and it's like he got to a point where it seems like he just didn't know how to stop. He's feeling sorry for himself and he's steering clear of everyone. Another excellent read, I didn't want to put down. We finally begin to understand why Austin is the way he is. He wants to fix this with everyone but it's like he wants to feel sorry for himself more. The more he tries to push people away, the more he pushes back. I think this is what I've loved about this series. These characters are like family. They're always there for each other and LA just captures this so well! Not one of his friends let him push them too far. Madi, has other priorities, more important than Austin and the contrast between these two is like night and day. I think it's why they're perfect for each other. Despite what Madi has gone through, she hasn't let it turn her bitter and resentful and I think this is what Austin needs. Someone to love him and to show him he doesn't need to be closed off and that he can let people in. As always, we love a dominant Laker, and Austin does know how to dominate! All commanding and authoritative in the bedroom! I felt sorry for Austin because he seemed to just go through the motions, almost like he's was afraid to think of the future beyond college. Austin was shocked when he found out Madi was a mother, but it didn't stop them wanting to continue their fling and to keep things casual. Until it did. Neither of them really understand what's going on between them and it feels like lines are blurred now. They're essentially both scared of the future I think. Both of them coming up with excuses why it needs to be nothing more than casual. I think we realised that something had to give and they've really got some thinking to do. This has also forced Austin to face other aspects of his life and I love that these books aren't just about the couples, it's also about what is happening in their lives and around them and the struggles they face. It's also about this groom friends coming together to help each other and be there for each other and there were some pretty emotional parts in this book that had me reaching for the tissues! I love when a book is so well written that it can pull these kinds of emotions out of you. We got to see a completely different side to Austin in his story and dare I say, I felt like he had the most character growth. He really stepped up when needed and was so incredibly sweet! I didn't know he had it in him! It's been such a privilege to read each one of these stories and I hope we get to see where they all end up in the future! This group is so close that I'd be pretty surprised if they didn't keep in touch! I also wonder if we might see the next generation of Lakers somewhere in the future! Fantastic read, thank you and well done! If you love a college sports romance, found family trope, you absolutely have to read this, better yet, start where it all began and read the series, you're not going to regret it!
For anyone that is a fan of the Lakers, you're going to love Austin's Story!

For anyone that is a fan of the Lakers, you're going to love Austin's Story!
Cold As Ice by L.A. Cotton is the final full-length book in her Lakeshore U series and we get the most complex character of this group of teammates. This college sports romance is between Austin Hart, the Lakers goalie and Madison Reynolds, a single mother. This love story is full of angst as he battles his feelings for her and she prioritises her daughter. They also have emotional baggage and family issues to deal with while trying to figure out their relationship.
“Not every victory shows up on the scoreboard.”
Austin is in his senior year and his last season with the Lakeshore U Lakers. He has no idea what to do with the rest of his life because unlike his friends, he hasn’t got a NHL contract. He is a very private person and doesn’t let people in. In Break The Ice we learnt about his childhood trauma which really affected him and then his issues were compounded with his sister dating his best friend. He is also feeling left behind and alone as all the others have fallen in love.
Madison made a mistake as a teenager and is now a single mum working two jobs. She has been strong for her daughter but lost herself along the way so her friends have been encouraging her to try living again. On a rare night out she meets Austin and their connection is instant. With her responsibilities could she keep the two parts of her life separate and have some fun with him. It has been years since a guy has made her feel something but could she risk everything on a hockey player with a dirty mouth?
They are both happy with having an uncomplicated arrangement but slowly find they are getting into dangerous territory as lines become blurred and they find themselves looking forward to seeing each other. He is confused by the new and unfamiliar feelings she brings out in him as it makes no sense to him. He is shocked when he finds out her secret but can’t get her out of his mind. He likes how she is a mum who would do anything for her daughter, unlike his mum.
I really liked Madi’s supportive and funny friends. Her daughter was adorable and her friendship with Scottie was so sweet. I loved how she had all the players wrapped round her little finger and I totally agree with her that Connor Morgan is the best !! It was great how all the players girlfriends accept her so easily and they all become friends. The guys are more than friends or teammates, they are a family and a great bunch of characters so it will be hard to say goodbye to them when the final story comes later this year. I hope the novella later this year is Coach Walsh then I’ll get more of Aiden.
Can Austin do the right thing for once and prove he’s not the cold uncaring guy people think he is. Could he be a reliable and dependable friend to her and Imogen? I was so happy we saw another side to Austin and how their love and trust grows as the walls they have both built up fall down. Who knew a single mum would melt his cold heart and be the one to break that icy gaze of his.
Madison Reynolds was my kryptonite, and I was a weak, weak man around her.

🏒 ARC Review 🏒
I’ve been waiting for Austin’s story since the beginning. There has been something mysterious about him and why his relationship with his sister, Rory, was different. This is by far my new favorite book in this series, I knew that we were finally getting to know the real Austin. We knew from previous books that he was more closed off and only let a handful of people see who he really was. But when Madison stepped into his world – he opened up his heart & loved Madison and Imogen the way they truly deserve to be loved 💗
There always has been something about Austin that I loved since the beginning. It could be because he was always so mysterious and you just wanted to know why he acted or behaved this way. They are reasons why Austin was so guarded, and being reminded of his younger years – my sweet Austin didn’t deserve to feel this way. All his friends around him found their partner and fell in love. Austin and love don't go together for him because of his childhood. That's why he rejects the idea that he will one day find the love of his life. I was hoping that he would find his true love that would love him for who he is.
Madison is a single mom who does everything she can to push herself and does everything she can to make her daughter happy. She works 2 jobs so that she can give her daughter a happy life & fulfill all her dreams. Her strength is one of the many qualities that I admire about her. She takes every one of her responsibilities seriously, putting the needs of her daughter before hers. Madi may have gone through a lot over the past few years but her determination to do the best she can while dealing with the aftermath of some inconveniences only shows how strong she is 🥹
LA Cotton has written another beautiful story in this series that is worth reading. I always feel emotionally connected to her characters. I just love witnessing all of their interactions, whether it's banter between them or this "family" that always supports each other and provides strength and support when needed ❤️
This quickly became my favorite book of this series. Austin’s story was 100% worth the wait 🤭💗
There was a little girl down the hall who had managed to wrap me around her pinky in less than a few hours, and her mom curled up beside me like she was born to be there. Being around Madison brought me peace. She brought me peace. And now that I knew what that could feel like, I never wanted to let her go.
Sentimenti espressi all’improvviso, scene secondo me importanti saltate a piè pari… sinceramente non me lo aspettavo.
