Collecting MIGUEL O'HARA ― SPIDER-MAN 2099 #1-5.
I quite enjoyed the story, with its focus on the horror-themed characters of the 2099 universe, but wasn’t enamoured with the use of a different art-team for every issue. My favourite issue was #3, with the 2099 version of Werewolf by Night.
It’s getting a bit daft that all these 2099 stories are supposed to take place in the space of one year…
if u told me there is a comic in which Miguel O’Hara fights both a vampire AND a werewolf, I’d say you’re lying. and yet, when he does in this here comic, I can just ignore the words and pretend they’re fighting over me <3
Pretty much a placeholder until the "summer of 2024" when 2099 gets more of a focus...
This isn't BAD, it just isn't much more than a miniseries with each issue focusing on a 'new' villain or anti-hero in Spider-Man 2099's world.
We've got: Marvel Zombie 2099 Dracula...(?) (looking like the 70's classic Marvel version) Werewolf of Night 2099 Terror Inc. (same ol' creepy, parts grabbing anti-hero NOW with superhero parts) Man-Thing 2099 (now, a synthetic creation that can burn away digital identities)
The next (final?) Spider-Man 2099 mini-series from Steve Orlando sees him take a new approach, with each issue of this mini-series introducing a new horror character to 2099. From Man-Thing to Terror, it's fun to see Orlando's twist on these characters, even if sometimes it feels a little like there's no reason for Spider-Man to be here other than because his name's on the cover and Midnight Sons 2099 wouldn't sell as well.
