What is a man's life worth?Out in the wastes north of Springston the rush for riches and fame is on. The word is out that the legendary city of Danvar has been found, and every diver, brigand, and pirate with a sarfer is racing to find it. But out in the dunes there's only one inarguable fact... The sand don't care, and it never did.Dunes Over Danvar is a short story set in New York Times Bestselling Author Hugh Howey's world of SAND, and is written and published with the permission of Hugh Howey. Part 2 of Dunes Over Danvar is now amzn.to/1g4WV9E**Dunes Over Danvar consists of a short story of about 8,000 words. Also included in the e-book download is a free sample of two chapters of Michael Bunker's bestselling book Pennsylvania**
I don't know how he was able to get a fan-fiction short story out so quickly after the release of Hugh Howey's "Sand Omnibus", but Michael Bunker has captured the feel of that book very well.
This is the (very) short story of The Poet and Peary, two very different characters caught up in the rush of the rumor of Danvar being found in the wastes. Good story, good development, and very concise. I'd like to see more of the author's interpretation of Howey's new world. Highly recommended!
This is another excellent book by the author who wrote all of the Sand books. I am thoroughly enjoying the science fiction concept where in a post apocalyptic setting, people dive through the sand to find things of old.
I really enjoyed this all too short story, set in the world of Hugh Howey's book, Sand. The occupation of sand diving is fascinating, and I'm glad Michael Bunker offered another look at it, however briefly. Both characters in the story are well developed, especially for such a short work. The Poet's point of view and attitude are interesting, but I like Peary better. I'm glad he caught a break - not that he didn't work for it. He did well in a short span of time.
Have I made it clear that this story is too short? I want more! Well done!
This book is pretty bad for such a short book. Didn't really care for either of the two characters that were presented in this story. And I found their Danvar treasure to be laughable. They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. I guess that's not the case when it's done poorly. I'll read Pennsylvania hoping his original ideas is better than this. I will not get book two of this side quest.
This is an impeccably designed world with an interesting story that is nonetheless let down by shallow characterisation. Much of the conflict feels manufactured, and there is nobody really to root for in this short tale.
Interesting story addition to Hugh Howey's world by Michael Bunker. Great characters circling around events from the sand novels leaving a lot of questions for the sequels
Good story set in the universe of Hugh Howey's Sand. The characters are engaging and fit in well with the world. It is short story though, and the writing isn't as polished as Howey's.
