This has been on my bookshelf for quite some time and it's a timely read given everything that's going on in the world...full of useful tips and techniques for building our own agility muscles. 3-stars
The book I was reading was Becoming an Agile Leader. It goes into the five agility factors: 1) Self Awareness, 2) Mental, 3) People, 4) Change and 5) Results. It was written in an interesting cadence, and was helpful. I found myself thinking of how agile I am in my leadership style ... I would give myself a “B” when it comes to the overall. Obviously, better in some categories with work to do in others. I gave it three out of five stars and would recommend reading it. Now I have to think of my next non-fiction book to read (while still reading the next selection of the book club).
I found this book on my friend's counter over the weekend. It was a quick and easy read. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a refresher on how to interact and motivate others or to anyone needing a reminder of the skills they possess to lead in their personal and professional lives.
Quick read with helpful format that details each agility, provides guidance for how to sharpen that agility and associated watch-outs. I found the tips and suggestions the most helpful. This is a book I know I will skim through fairly regularly over the years.
Our ever changing business, economic, political and technological environment is driving needs for a more agile leader and this book which draws on the Lominger work (now owned through Korn Ferry) provides a great framework for any current or aspiring leader. It covers 5 arenas of agility under the umbrella of "Learning Agility" and can be used well concurrently with the Lominger competencies and instruments like the Hogan Assessments.
I really enjoyed how straightforward and succinct this book is. Right after I finished reading this book I was placed on an intra-organizational assignment and it really helped to give me a different perspective.
Would definitely recommend this book for those who want to become a more agile and upward bound leader.
