Between those careers, I've also worked as a deckhand, commercial fisherman, divemaster, taxi driver, construction manager, and truck driver. I live in the Sea Islands, near Beaufort, SC, with my wife and youngest daughter. We also have three grown children, five grand children, three dogs and a whole flock of parakeets. Enjoyable series.
Like the good and caring characters. Learning more about guns and rifles from these series. Wish I was living in those islands and diving with them. Jesse is helping to capture the drug and gun runner in Cuba. Didn't like the ending.

I read and liked the first two book in this series. Stinnett told a good story with an interesting main character and easy-to-follow action scenes (not an easy thing to write). But the unnecessarily violent twist at the end of the second book irked me so much that I seriously considered never reading another book in the series.
But 2½ years have passed and I thought Stinnett deserved another chance (that this book was free contributed to the decision). Stinnett still writes a darn good story. And I enjoyed this one as much as the first two. But again, Stinnett has an unneeded violent twist at the end as a way to tie off a lose end he unraveled a few chapters earlier.
One beef I have about this book is Stinnett throws a lot of characters into his story mix – so many that it’s difficult to keep them straight. He also ties up a lot of words describing in detail things that don’t need to be described in detail.
I have two more books in this series on hand and I’m looking forward to reading them, but if he keeps ending his books with those unnecessary (in my opinion) twists, I will drop him for sure.

Another good read in the series. A few more characters added to the mix, and a bit more detail added to kind of see where this series is headed. The author's writing is tighter and more focused. Looking forward to the next book in the series after a short break. A solid 3 stars.

'm enjoying the Jesse McDermitt series by Wayne Stinnett for the most part. The story line is always intriguing with exciting action scenes and edge of your seat suspense.
Fallen Hunter includes multiple step-by-step routes through the Florida Keys, characters continuously bringing boats "up to plane", name dropping of fish that I've never heard of before - sans descriptions and repeated morning or evening rituals - just like in the previous three books of the series that I've read to date. Typos and missing words continue, Red Stripe Beer and a full thermos of Columbian coffee are always available and Jesse has sex with a new female character...I do love that dog, though!
The author continues to add more and more characters to his story which doesn't allow readers an opportunity to get to know them individually - might need to generate a "cast of characters" sheet going forward to keep track of them all. He does show his quick wit and sarcasm via snippets from these characters - making me laugh out loud several times.
I've already purchased the next two books in the series and expect to learn more about water routes and those other things mentioned earlier. However, I look forward to see what kind of mischief Jesse and company will get into next - as we go forward, it appears like Jesse is expanding and getting deeper into black ops - perhaps I'll learn more in the next installment. Beware, the ending of this book will leave readers with mouths agape!

While attempting to help a threatened friend, Jesse discovers that these bad guys are up to something much more sinister than smuggling drugs. Complemented with a cast of unique and likeable recurring characters, tough guy Jesse leads another exciting adventure through the Florida Keys, Cuba and Cozumel.
Replete with boats, beaches, babes, bad guys and bullets, this is a well written fast paced adventure that will not disappoint!

This is from my husband who read this book. After his enthusiasm I think I will read it too!
Having read Fallen Palm, I immediately downloaded Fallen Hunter, picking up another story about Jesse McDermitt. Like the first book, I found it impossible to put down. It was exciting and Mr. Stinnett has a way of drawing you in and keeping you guessing. I would readily recommend it, and I cannot wait for the next offering from this author.

Well, now I am totally hooked. I was so hesitant after the first book but now I can't put them down. This book was filled with action, and strategy making, and characters with fascinating backgrounds. Yes, there was some romance but it was incidental to the story and was not "in your face" with sex scenes. It's about courage, fitness to the extreme, and special ops. I can't wait to start the next one.

This book started out ok, but quickly went from believable to ridiculous. Every woman this guy meets is a ten! He is supposed to be a long retired marine but still seems to out hustle the younger guys who are in peak condition. Inherits millions, falls in love with in 4 months of his wife’s murder, meets another 10 but loses her within a few weeks and then starts up with another woman within 24 hours of learning the last woman left.

These books are feel-good, comfort reads and while not among my thriller author favs, I know what I'm getting when I listen to one - I love Jesse's island home in the Keys, the friendships he's made and the fact that his tiny little island is a kind of refuge for the motley bunch, which includes Navy SEALs and even a Portuguese Water Dog named Pescador.
There's not only action and thrills, the author also injects human interest stories and you get to know Jesse for the kind of man he is from the way he handles those issues. He's still unattached in this installment, not having entered into a serious relationship (yet?) following the death of his wife in the previous book. I'm still not that excited with the series going into the terrorist thriller genre. I find I enjoy the non-terrorist incidents more and would have liked Jesse being a PI instead. I guess there aren't enough cases in the Keys to keep him busy and spawn more books.

I liked the first book in the series so I decided to continue on. I even got the next book as well but I ended up dnf'ing this book and will not continue the series. Spoilers ahead.
The writing is generally easy to read and follow. Everything is done on easy mode, which makes for easy reading (like easy listening radio). However this book just took too long to get to the point. There was a long romance part and I didn't come here for romance. Worse, the romance and writing was dragged out. Something that could have been said in 2 sentences took 2 pages. Like when they have coffee, the whole act of making and pouring the coffee is written out (just an example). Almost seems like the author is paid by the word and not for a book.
But may be mostly, there was a lack of excitement, the characters were just going through their actions, like paint by the numbers. I was simply not entertained so I decided to dnf and try something else.

As I was approaching the end of this book, I was planning to give this book 3.5 stars because it was very enjoyable but had a couple pretty bad plotholes. Then I got to the last page.
Without giving any spoilers, I can honestly say that this is the worst and most idiotic ending of any book I’ve read in the last 20 years. It literally ruined the entire book for me. I’ve already purchased the next book in the series, but the last page of this book was so terrible I’m considering returning it.
So, reader beware. It’s a fun book like it’s two predecessors, and if you’re willing to tolerate the nonsensical last page, it may be worth a read.

Good Writer needs to focus on the important stuff

But first I’m going read my favorite “Deep” series I know Boone and Emily will still be together!

A Non-Stop, Action-Packed Para Military Novel!
With a lot of similarities between Randy White and Wayne Stinnett, each stands alone as a master craftsman in developing their own riveting tales of former specially trained military/undercover black ops and variety of unique characters and scenes based on their own real life experiences. Blended with the fast action are an interesting sprinkling of technically correct bits of information. Student's works are always a great read!

Outstanding drama and suspense
A thoroughly enthralling book. It was almost impossible to put down most of the times. Jesse McDermott and his military buddies, both past a d present take you on a Rollercoaster ride of emotion passion, excitement and intrigue as they plan the capture of an evil drug and gun smuggling egotistical working out of Cuba. A gotta read book for anyone who enjoys action, suspense and thrills.

Teenage hormones
The book reads like a high school senior just got all his boyhood wishes come true. Money, toys Constant flow of woman and lots of drama so life isn't boring! Love of his life not even dead 6 months and he's out banging what walks. Maybe if he didn't hide out in comas he could hold feelings past his winky. I read several books before commenting hoping Jessi would grow up so far he hasnt!

Action packed and Jesse McDermitt is bigger than life and manages to survive another close shave on his life. The plot moves quickly and new characters are introduced and some are gone just as quickly. The island home has become more developed and now a training base for the special ops. It does seem that women in Jesse's life are at risk. This has been a great series so far, plan on reading more.

My First McDermitt
This is my first Jesse McDermitt novel, but definitely not my last! The depth of information in the locations, the description of the coral reefs and the watercraft all let you know the author has been there and you get to be there with him! I will be going back with him for another wild ride!

This is the second Jesse McDermitt book I've read and loved both of them, both free on Amazon/Kindle. I'll find the others because these are really exciting novels. Love all the characters, but I'd hate to be Jesse's love interest. They don't last too long. Great read, good writing and good character development.

Amazing
I am in love with this series book 3 just finished they just keep getting better and better. This author has an amazing ability to spin a story that just pulls you and takes you for a ride. Characters that you can't wait to find out more about. Looking forward to more from this author.

Incredible detail backing the story line
What an amazing story! It grabbed me from the start and pulled me along all the way to the end. I have to say this is one of the best books I’ve read in a long time, with characters so real it was easy to invest in them. I kept having to remind myself they were fictional! Bravo! Keep writing!

If you're a fan of Travis McGee your in for a teat, because this author sites as good as John D McDonald.
Good fast action that will keep you up later than you planed. I used to enjoy Travis Macgee and I have finally found an author that may take his place.

Great story
CCLD library loan. I read this one out of order; I had it on a wait list at the local library. One thing I like about Stinnett's writing is that he puts enough information in his books that they CAN be read out of order or as stand alone books. Really liked almost all of this one, but hated the ending!

I've enjoyed the series. I think the main character has just a little too much luck, possibly, but the main issue I had with this novel had nothing to do with the writing, it had to do with the format. I read it in the Kindle app on my iPhone. The first few words of each chapter were missing. That's pretty annoying, and pulls you out of the story.

Thoroughly enjoying this series
Same statements as the last review. I love these characters and the dynamics of the stories. They keep me engaged and ready for the end so that I can start the next one. Completely different types of books and characters than my usual followings. But they are just thoroughly entertaining.

FLA. Keys adventures
Love the Jesse McDermott series, I'm a retired Navy Viet Nam and Desert Storm vet. Spent time on Boca Chica supporting Special ops, Cudjoe Key and alpabit soup ops. The jazz is there when I read the stories! Been a few years since I use to roam, boat, fish and dive the keys and miss it a lot. Semper Fi and Anchor Away.

I stumbled upon this series at the beginning and thought it might be a good quick read. I was wrong, it is an excellent series and this is an extension of that.
There is no drawn out scenes, just decisive actions with contingencies.
Characters are introduced with enough
background information to see who they are and what they bring.
I just started #4 and I'll let you know how it goes.
