I was at first struck by his paintings of horses. I enjoyed the colors he chose. A German Expressionist, he was part of the Blaue Reiter group. Influenced by Van Gogh. Painted right before the first world war. Originally he studied theology, but changed his mind especially after reading Nietzsche.
