FALLEN KINGDOM is the fourth book in the Shadows & Starlight series. If you loved the dystopian world of Hunger Games and the royal, sci-fi twist of Cinder, this series is for you!

I enjoyed this series a lot more than I initially thought I would after starting the first book.
However, I feel like this book was rushed and the ending felt a little forced. They were at war and then *boom* everything is fixed and they have peace. I feel that there was so much that we as readers missed, and it was really rushed to have everything perfect.
I feel so bad for poor Adam, he really got the worst of it. While I was hoping for Samuel to get the girl, I feel that Adam was treated badly the whole series. I wish he and Ana could have sorted things out before the end.
Ana forgot about her friends a lot, and really doesn't deserve to have the friends she has. She is always lying and hiding things from everyone, and it usually ends up with someone getting hurt, physically and emotionally. I like that she isn't perfect and makes mistakes but sometime I wish I could have just shaken her and told her to stop being so dumb!
I don't know what Ana did to inspire such blind loyalty in her friends but a lot of their interactions felt fake and I was questioning why they were there and what their angle was.
I didn't like the last minute revelation about Braylen and then nothing more. Why didn't he seek Ana out and tell her the truth earlier? Why wasn't there more explained about where he came from.
All in all, I really felt that this book left me with so many questions and not enough answers. It was rushed and the ending forced and there could have been another book or at least another few hundred pages.
The series as a whole was enjoyable and I would love the read more of the world of Bellaton.

Ending was a cop out. Spent so much time on the building of the relationship with the outcasts to overthrow what is left of the infamous 7. Then randomly, all 6 remaining families up and decide for a truce. Instead of ruling as 1, they uphold the 7 with a few extras? Way too rushed. The final "battle" was hardly a battle between anyone.
Fallen Kingdom is the fourth and final book in the Shadows & Starlight series, and wow, what a ride that was! I was lucky enough to have been an ARC reader since the beginning and I have to say that this is a such a great series. So much happens in each installment and the author does an amazing job building the world of Bellaton and drawing the reader right into the middle of it all.
I thought this was a great conclusion to this series. Fall of action and drama, I was frantically reading once I started, though I think I was still reeling over what happened at the end of the third book. Ana is such an impressive character. She’s young, impulsive and can sometimes make dumb choices, but I also really appreciated that she’s flawed and not just needlessly ‘perfect’. Throughout her entire journey, she’s shown grit, perseverance and a hell of a lot of bravery, especially considering the cast of characters around her. I honestly feel that the characters are one of the best parts of Shadows & Starlight – the care that went into creating the seven families and their backgrounds and maintaining their personalities through the four novels.
My only critique would have to be that the last few chapters of Fallen Kingdom felt rushed. There was some great build-up and then everything kind of tied up in a neat little bow; however, there weren’t any details about the new council, how most of the families chose who sits at the Council and what has changed in this “new” Bellaton. Don't get me wrong, I quite enjoyed this book, but I wish there was just a little more care in the last bit – some additional pages / couple of chapters may be enough to provide a more satisfying ending. Still, a fantastic read!
Thank you EV Everest for my copy of Fallen Kingdom. I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. All above thoughts and opinions are my own.
I almost never write book reviews but this series ending was sadly disappointing in its abrupt nature. I actually stopped reading and said, "What?! Really?!" out loud multiple times. It felt rushed and disjointed from the other books, and even the start of this book. Loose ends were hastily (and boringly) tied up and tons of potential plot rabbit holes of interest were wiped out. I felt robbed as a reader, and not in a way where it felt intentionally done for an emotional reaction. This felt like reading one of my student's papers who realized they met their word limit before proving their thesis and just tied the essay up with a concluding statement instead of finishing. I understand why fan fiction ending rewrites happen because of this book.
I was drawn to this series from a short story in an anthology and felt like that tie in was minimal and disappointing too. There is definitely a lot of potential in this series, but I would love to see a rewrite of the ending and better flushing out of some of the supporting characters and their storylines.
The last book in this great series was great! Things came to a head, with some nail biting events and I had to read to the end foregoing sleep until finishing. I love those tense moments when so much was at stake. I really enjoyed Ana being reunited with her father and being able to go back to the loving relationship she had with him when she was a child. I loved the ending, especially with Ana and Samuel. Samuel may be my favorite character, after all, he loves to read and he is such a proponent for the right thing. If you haven’t read this series, give a try, even though it is a young adult story, it is also a humanitarian story.

Apparently, this brings the series to a conclusion. Ana seeks to bring peace to Bellaton, but the other six families, especially the Rockwells, are convinced. There are plenty of emotional and harrowing scenes. There are also plenty of hope-filled ones. Well done.
Fallen Kingdom (Shadows & Starlight#4) is the conclusion this series. I enjoyed reading and believe others will enjoy too. Reeling from the coronation and its deadly aftermath, Ana has little time to recover. She is the sole surviving member of the council and the number one suspect. As the Seven families vie to fill their vacant council seats, rebel forces stir in the capital... and below them. Is peace still possible. Hi, Readers! I'm E.V. Everest, the author of the Shadows & Starlight series. I want to say thank you for taking this journey with me (and Ana and Petrie)! I hope these books brought you as much delight in reading as they brought me in writing.

I love books that as you read them, you realize that the mc might actually be the villain. This is not one of those, but I’m certainly not sure I agree with the choices the author made because I don’t believe this character is good bad or grey. They just do whatever with little to know thought of anyone else including friends and for the most part there’s very little repercussions at all.
Firstly the finish could have been stretched out so much I felt really disappointed in the last chapter. HOWEVER the whole book as 1 is brilliant. Grand mother Jacobs always pops up and gives Ana and Samuel a great b send off present. I loved reading them both come together .
Absolutely entertaining read. Had my attention from the start all the way to the finish. Very fantastic story with wonderful characters, that have you hanging by the edge of your seat waiting to flip the page to find out what possibly could happen next.. I loved it!
Although I didn't intend to read this in one sitting, it definitely happened. The war was written beautifully and the fact that Petrie survived the whole series is just perfection. Definitely worthy of 5 🌟 for the finale!
Slightly disappointed with the ending, it felt rushed. 90% off the book absolutely amazing, with a fierce storyline. Shame the challenge and fight were built up only to fall flat.
I would have to say that things in this book where very rushed. I really enjoyed the third book so I was holding hope for this one but I just didn't feel this book. I did like the series but the last book was a struggle sadly.
Good ending to the series. Although it does wrap it up, it seemed to come too quickly and doesn’t really tell us much about the future of Bella ton. Almost like there will be a continuation?
Love all 4 books. Couldn't put them. I'm sadden that Adam died. I thought he and Holden would have made it out of the challenge. I do think that Adam's death should have been written.

I do think the ending was rushed. Also after 4 books of conflict, a short epilogue is a bit of a let down. Still rated 5 stars as over all the book was great.
I can't tell you the last time I finished a series with such satisfaction. After the events of book 3, I had no idea how this would live up, but it was just perfect. An explosive and gripping end to the series that had me on edge and kept me guessing. I cannot recommend this series enough!
