4.5 ⭐️ I swear I love this series more and more with each book. It is so criminally underrated. By far one of the best novellas I have EVER read! Cyph and Vale are my favorite couple in this series and I have been YEARNING for more of them since we first got hints of them having a secret relationship on the side! Don’t even get me started on Cyph…. Listen I love Tolek, I do, but this tortured, damaged, man fully has my heart. I don’t know how Nicole managed to squeeze so much god damn character development into 220 pages but my GOD she never fails to amaze me. Vale’s story broke my heart but watching her grow and come to terms with her trauma almost brought me to tears. IM SO READY FOR HER REPUTATION ERA IN THE NEXT BOOK!!!

I simply could not put this down and my only complaint is that wanted more of them!! That ending BROKE me, but set up Vales storyline so perfectly for the next book! The writing was perfect, the chemistry was unmatched, how this moved the overall plot along was also so impressive. I find a lot of novellas come across as pointless filler, that was not at all the case here!! Ugh these two have my heart.

Favorite quotes:
“I fear how thoroughly you wrecked me and how, if I allowed you, you could do it again.”

“You’re not an inconvenience. Spirits, you’re not a convenience either. You’re so much more than that; you’re fate, Vale. My fate.”

“You should not have to guess if someone loves you.”

“She was something to be cherished, not something to be won.”

easiest 5 stars i’ve ever given.

i literally COULD NOT PUT THIS DOWN. the fact that this is a novella is astounding- the plot feels so full and developed, the characters develop even deeper, the ROMANCE???

if there’s one thing Nicole excels at (besides effectively ripping my heart out in each book) it’s character development. miss girl knows how to write a whole character, their complex emotions, and their growth. as a reader, this is something i can count on from her EVERY TIME- to write characters that feel so real, they become your best friend 🥹

Vale and Cyph’s journey in tBoS is nothing short of a masterpiece. every peak into the Starsearchers makes me absolutely giddy with excitement to learn more and how their powers connect to the world of The Curse of Ophelia. The romance is AHHHH and might literally be my favorite of the whole series yet (that feels illegal to say, but it’s my truth).

all this to say, i love nicole. she’s an auto-buy author and everything she writes turns to gold. tBoS is a MUST READ, as is the rest of The Curse of Ophelia series (read it in order, babes!!)

💫 here are some rapid fire highlights:
-second chance bodyguard romance
-touch her you d*e
-wound tending
-he’s an archer boy 😩
-past trauma / overcoming trauma together
-he calls her stargirl 🥹
-REPEATED ONE BED (thank the fates)
-i’ve never may a hot springs scene i didn’t like 😮‍💨
-jezebel foreshadowing 👀
-THE LORE IS DEEPENING
-vale entering her rep era

THANK YOU nicole & team for the eARC. my heart is infinitely yours 🫶🏼💫

This was so good!! The tension between Vale + Cypherion is just tooo freaking good. Cypherion is one of my favorite characters in the series so I was super pumped for this one.

Also... the ending, holy SHIT. I am so ready for book 4!

Highlights:
"You should not have to guess if someone loves you."

"You look..."
"It's the dress Titus left for me."
"Then it's the worse dress I've ever seen." 🤣🤣🤣

"It's been months since I tasted you, Vale. I can't rush." 🥵 UM OK

-high fantasy
-novella
-second chance
-bodyguard
-one bed

hello and welcome back to me raving about Nicole Platania and 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑪𝒖𝒓𝒔𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝑶𝒑𝒉𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒂 series! I am once again honored to be an ARC reader for such amazing books!

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑩𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒌𝒆𝒓 𝒐𝒇 𝑺𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒔 is book 3.5 in the series. It is a novella, but don’t let its shorter page length fool you - this story was packed with emotion, depth, angst, and plenty of plot intensifying moments while still being utterly unputdownable. The portrayal of trauma and its nuance within this story hit me hard. And on top of that the forgiveness that we see these characters give to each other displays growth and change so well.

“𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒓?” “𝑰 𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒓 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈.”

Cyph and Vale are both characters that we met previously in the series but getting to be in their heads and see their POVs made me love them a million times more. CYPH THE MAN THAT YOU ARE!!!! The two sides of him balance so well. His strength AND his gentleness?!?!🫠 This book is for the Cyph girlies FOR SURE, & if you aren’t already one you will be after Breaker!

𝑺𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒔 𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒊𝒔𝒉𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒔. 𝑺𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝒃𝒓𝒐𝒌𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒎 𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒓𝒆𝒍𝒚.

Vale is such a complex character and getting to know her better in Breaker was such a treat. Her journey and introspection throughout this novella is absolutely a portrayal of one of the things that makes Nicole’s writing so special - and that’s the representation of trauma response and mental health recovery. Multiple of her characters show the wide range of those emotions and it’s so powerful to see that each way is valid. I won’t go into too much more detail to avoid spoilers but for the girls who related to the dedication of this book… Vale is for you 🫶🏼

And as always the prose that Nicole writes with is absolutely stunning. It’s easy to get lost within the pages feeling like you’re traveling with Cyph and Vale rather than reading. I feel like “vivid” is such a good word to describe Nicole’s writing, her books are written in full color with the poetic nature of the writing only adding to the sweeping epicness of the story.

* 𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒐𝒓 𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒔𝒑𝒐𝒊𝒍𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒃𝒆𝒍𝒐𝒘 *

𝒔𝒚𝒏𝒐𝒑𝒔𝒊𝒔:

When Cypherion is tasked with guarding Vale on her journey to find answers about her failing magic, he is not only guarding her, but his heart as well. After her betrayal, he can’t afford to let her in again. Vale however has one goal on their unaccompanied journey - win him back even if it’s just as friends. Through quests, danger, political intrigue, inns with only one bed, and fate itself watching over them can Cyph hope to keep her at arms length?

𝒃𝒐𝒐𝒌 𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒑𝒆𝒔:
- second chance romance
- only one bed, & two beds
- celestial magic
- politics & war
- he’s her bodyguard
- Greek myth inspo
- ancient prophecies
- NICKNAMES
- hot springs

While this may be a novella, it is important to read this story in order between books 3 & 4 as it is a piece of the overarching plot!

WOW NICOLE HAS DONE IT AGAIN!!

The fact that this is a novella is astounding to me. The plot feels so full despite its shorter length. As always the prose is rich and poetic in a way that makes you forget you’re reading and not traveling with Cyph and Vale. The themes of trauma and forgiveness throughout this story made it incredibly special. Absolutely unputdownable… I’m so happy I could be an ARC reader again for this amazing series.

Btw I love Cyph with my whole dang heart.

*4,5/5*

Did Cypherion just dethrone Tolek for me? I never thought I'd say it, but I think he did.

This was easily my favourite book in the series so far. I devoured it. I mean, those first three words alone left me gasping for air ("One fucking bed" 😱😱😱), I knew this had to be good.

I was already intrigued with the relationship between Cyph en Vale in the previous books, but too consumed by Tolek to think twice about it tbh, so I loved that we got a few flashbacks from their POVs as well.

I would give it 5 stars but there were some things Cyph said and did in the spicy bits that were a bit cringey for me personally. But I have to emphasize that's it's personal because I know for a fact that these things will actually make a lot of readers go feral (to give just one example: when the MMC says "you can take it").

This was sweet and exciting and spicy and emotional and the perfect novella, honestly.

✨The Breaker of Stars✨

Nicole never fails me and this novella hit just the nerve I needed! Book 3.5 in The Curse of Ophelia series, we get to follow Cypherion and Vale as they go on the mission we saw Ophelia send them off on in book 3, Trials of Ophelia.

The relationship between Cypherion and Vale has been fractured after the events in book two and Vale has been trying to earn back trust since then but her lies and the secrets of her past still haunt Cyph.

As they journey back to Vale’s previous home, a place that only reminds her of the torture and loss she endured, can they work together to find the answers to Vale’s broken power and Ophelia’s mission?

I loved this sweet story so much as we get to follow the minds of two very broken people only hoping to find the other broken half that fits their missing pieces. The tortured pasts and vulnerability is raw and tantalizing as Nicole is always so good at eliciting.

Tropes you may find in BOTS are second chance romance, bodyguard, one bed but also two beds?, hot springs scene, slow burn, angst and tension, “you can take it”, spice 3/5, and mental health support.

Make sure to read books 1-3 before diving into this but I assure, the books leading up to it are equally phenomenal.

Thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of your street and arc team AND for this gifted arc, Nicole. I can’t wait for Myths this fall!

ABSOLUTELY ADORED 😍

Of course the broody, quiet bodyguard is a little possessive and likes to leave a mark, if you know what I mean 🐱

what do I need to say to make you read this series?
It has everything you could possibly want from an epic romantic fantasy. Like The Bridge Kingdom meets ToG meets your favourite rom com with Greek myth ✨

The Breaker of Stars is book 3.5 within The Curse of Ophelia series and it was just joyful and glorious. It follows Cypherion and Vale in their quest to understand what’s happening to the readings of the stars and the fates (yes, I was astrology geeking the whole time). Their dynamic is hot, sweet and the very definition of “you came”, “you called”. 🥲

Once again, the trauma informed nature of this book is outstanding.

Can’t say much more without spoiling the entire series so read below for general info for the series xoxox

The Curse of Ophelia series by Nicole Platania is a Romantic Fantasy series!
✨ Inspired by greek mythology
✨ Strong FMC’s
✨ Men on their knees
✨ Quests, adventures and political intrigue
✨ Wars between multiple parties
✨ Angels, Fae, Warriors and Magic
✨ Tolek (yes, Tolek is an MMC within the story and yes, it will sell itself when you read it)
✨ Lots of trauma but beautifully written and informed
✨ Hot spice 🤤

I truly thought I’d be a Tolek/Ophelia girlie forever but MOVE OVER because Cyph and Vale have entered the chat. Cyph is just so dreamy…I literally can’t get enough of him.

Nicole manages to stuff so much action and lore into this book while also leaving me FERAL for more. I’m so incredibly impressed by her and can’t wait to see Cyph and Vale again in the future.

How is it possible that a novella could BREAK ME SO MUCH?

Full Review:
Ok I have recovered from my state of distress after finishing this novella. What amazes me is how Nicole managed to fit SO MUCH into such a short little novella. I absolutely loved getting more of Vale and Cyph's story.

We know I would do anything for my baby Tol, but Cypherion is now one of my top tier book boyfriends. His broodiness was absolute perfection and I loved the way he softened for Vale. Overall this is such a perfect addition to the Ophelia story and now I need need NEED the next book to come out!

“You’re not alone.” He kissed the tattooed brand on my shoulder. “It’s us against the Fates, Stargirl.”

It’s always such a pleasure reading everything Nicole writes. This series is truly one of the best fantasy romance series out there, and witnessing the escalating success it’s receiving fills me with so much joy.

The Breaker of Stars is a novella following two of our favorite “secondary” characters, Cypherion and Vale. If you love fantasy, excellent world-building, political intrigue, strong characters, and an exciting plot, this book is for you. And if you haven’t picked up The Curse of Ophelia yet, really, what are you waiting for, dummy??

It was so exciting reading the story from the new perspectives and learning about Cypherion and Vale’s past. I was so intrigued by the Starsearchers, and I am glad we had the opportunity to learn more about them. As their relationship evolves and love starts to blossom amidst tension, vulnerability, and forgiveness, more secrets get revealed as they try to uncover the mysteries hidden within Vale’s magic.

Nicole’s writing is mesmerizing. She has such a talent for words; every page keeps me utterly captivated from top to bottom. I loved how this novella was still filled with action and plot developments, and I am so curious to see how book 4, TMOO, will continue!

“𝑼𝒔 𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒔𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒇𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒔.”

The way these books manage to emotionally destroy me, each in their own unique ways 🥲.

Since I met Cyph in book 1, I have been DREAMING of getting to his POV!!! And boy did it not disappoint. He is so steadfast in his loyalty and protection of those he loves. It’s hard not to fall for him as a character, and to root for him when he finally puts himself first and takes what he wants.

Speaking of Vale 😏. I absolutely adore her. It was clear to me that we had lots to uncover/learn when it came to her. But it went so much DEEPER than I ever could have guessed.

“𝑻𝒉𝒐𝒔𝒆 𝒃𝒂𝒓𝒔 𝒉𝒂𝒅 𝒃𝒆𝒆𝒏 𝒃𝒍𝒐𝒘𝒏 𝒘𝒊𝒅𝒆 𝒐𝒑𝒆𝒏, 𝒎𝒚 𝒇𝒖𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒎. 𝑨𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝑰 𝒉𝒂𝒅 𝒔𝒐 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒚 𝒒𝒖𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔, 𝑰 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒆𝒙𝒑𝒍𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒍𝒖𝒓𝒌𝒆𝒅 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒔 𝒃𝒓𝒐𝒌𝒆.”

-second chance
-bodyguard vibes
-one bed
-hot spring
-fates
-star reading/celestial powers
-tension

This book did not feel like a novella to me. Nicole packs so much in! From the action, character development, romance and tension, it felt so big to me. Um hi also that ending!?!? I can’t 😭.

FREAKING 5 ⭐️ !!! OMG this was „only“ a novella but it felt so much more than that. I am absolutely blown away 😮‍💨 detailed review is coming tmr after I‘ve gathered my thoughts 💭

FINAL REVIEW: 5 ⭐️ 2,5 🌶️
First things first: This was the BEST novella I've read so far!! 😍

The first sentence of this book starts with a banger: "One fucking bed." Nicole Platania got my attention right away with this one. Who doesn't love a good one bed trope? 🤭

In this novella with 196 pages we follow Cypherion and Vale on their side mission to find out why Vale's readings are not working. On their way we witness so much heartbreak, complex emotional past trauma and deep love.

„And though the concept of the Fates was still foreign to me, it was feeling more like she might be mine.“

I can not believe that this was "only" a novella!! It has everything what my heart is longing for in a great book. All the pining and longing was so well written and it has got me squealing and giggling all the time. Cyph is so down bad for Vale oh my god and I am LIVING for it.

„Your entire existence is a temptation, Stargirl.“

Let me tell you that Tolek was my book boyfriend of this series but Cyph might be my new favourite tbh. Let me show a quote that will win you over! 😋

„You are not an inconvenience. Spirits, you are not a convenience either. You’re so much more than that; you’re fate, Vale. My fate.“

Ok, there is another one (this got me sweating omg):

„It’s been months I tasted you, Vale. I can’t rush.“ 🥵

Besides of the romance, Vale is going through her own important personal growth. Her feelings towards Titus has been very complex and not always understandable for someone else. The realisation and understanding of her past causes a lot of pain. I totally admire Vale's strength through all this. She finally stands up for herself and promises herself that she is never going to be someone else's property again.

"He might have shattered every promising bit of starlight within me - might have broken me-but now, I'd return the favor. Now, I would become the breaker." Only seeing this on paper again, gives me goosebumps!

As you can see, I totally ate up "The Breaker of Stars" and I can not wait for "The Myths of Ophelia" in November 🫶🏻🫶🏻

book tropes:
- bodyguard
- one bed over and over again
- past trauma/healing journey
- nicknames 🤭
- second chance
- angst and tension
- you can take it
- wound mending with so much tension

„You’re here?“
„I’m here, Stargirl.“

Thank you for Nicole Platania and Legends Literary for this amazing arc ❤️

This is a longer novella, 28 chapters, but it's a good read! It follows Cypherion and Vale on their quest, and I ate it up! So much was reveal and I don't want to post spoilers but there was a spot or two where I gasped out loud!

I was lucky enough to be part of the arc team for this beauty and I am so thankful to Nicole and her team for all the work, and the trust in me!

I swear this novella broke me! Love the story of Cypherion and Vale but man that ending is killing me!

Though some things seem to not add up. To start with how can a chancellor say in power when he can't perform a reading? Seems like lacking q necessary skill? Also how did Vale not realise she had a bind to him? Also why were they so call when he revealed that he asks the temples to steal the most capable children of their families?
The ending seemed to be jumbled together a bit which makes for confusing story lines.
Also huge problem for me is why can the chancellor withhold information from the Revered? This seems much like Aird behaved.. no? Also expected the Second to act more in this sense...
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

This was a great read from start to finish! This short but mighty novella packed such an emotional punch. It follows Cypherion and Vale, on their side mission to learn more about the Angel Emblems and Vale’s blocked magic.

I absolutely loved getting to learn more about the Starsearchers and was entranced by their territory, customs, and magic. Vale’s past came into play in a big way and my heart broke for her in so many ways. Her magic is my favorite so far; it was written so ethereally!

The tension between Cypherion and Vale was TENSE in a few different ways, from mistrust to physical. I loved getting inside Cypherion’s head as he grapples with betrayal, loss, and the idea of forgiveness and acceptance. I’m also very picky with nicknames and LOVED his nickname for her 🥹

Their journey is intriguing, harrowing, and heartbreaking. As painful as the ending was it got me even more excited (and nervous!) for book 4 this fall! Thanks so much to Nicole and Legends Literary Management for an ARC of this novella! I loved getting to read it and give my honest review!

ARC review!

Cypherion and Vale are on a quest in this novella to determine why she cannot complete Starsearcher readings and their connection to Ophelia’s journey. Although it has been months since Vale’s betrayal, Cyph is still wounded and unable to forgive. Will this journey be enough to overcome the past and rekindle their romance?
This novella is jam packed with Cyph and Vale’s connection, the development of the overarching story, and is an emotional journey from start to finish. Cyph is a warrior who feels unworthy of praise, while Vale has blind loyalty to a past that has only brought her harm and manipulation.
The way that Cyph and Vale attempt to work through the mountains of distance is so beautiful and moving. I appreciate that the story is told from both their POVs so we can get the full scope of their inner thoughts. The realization of how similar they truly are was a delight!
In true Nicole fashion, the ramp up leads to a conclusion that had me in tears. The series has two more novels to come, and this ending is a sign that we are FAR from the end - and I cannot wait to see what happens next!

another BANGER from Nicole!!!!!

I’m still not over the fact that this is a novella. The prose, character arcs and growth, storyline are so beautiful without feeling rushed in anyway. Even though this book is only 218 pages, I feel like I still felt every emotion possible. Cyph and Vale’s story is so special and is one of continued healing from past trauma and self doubts. These two balance each other so well.

If you like your fictional men down bad, look no further!! Cyph is so gone for Vale even though he is trying to deny any feelings he may still have for her. But our girl Vale is determined to work through their past and the hurt that was caused, AND SHE SUCCEEDS (with a little help from hot springs 😏)

This book set ups book 4 so well and I cannot wait to see where their story goes and how it lines up with the rest of the core group!

Thank you to Nicole for an e-arc of this book!

Rating: 5✨
Spice: 2🌶

Thank you to the author & Legends Literary Management for the eARC opportunity! Like always, this review is voluntary & honest.

Y’all, when I tell you Nicole Platania never misses, it is because SHE TRULY NEVER MISSES. Now, it’s a known fact that the Curse of Ophelia series is one of my top favorites of all time & this novella was perfection from beginning to end! Now, I know I’m a loyal Tolek girlie, but Cypherion has had me acting up a good number of times in the past three books & the Cypherion IN THIS BOOK? HAVE MERTHY. This man needed his time to shine as the MMC & BOY DID HE DELIVER. Him & Vale are beyond perfect for one another. The love I have for this warrior & his stargirl is UNREAL.

Cypherion has been a top favorite of mine since the beginning. He is a character who’s had a past that has hurt him & that hurt has shaped him tremendously. He is the definition of a lover & a fighter. He is one who doesn’t easily believe in himself & the things he has earned through his skill, trustworthiness & hard work. The respect he has earned from his actions alone. But is the first to fully believe in his friends, his family, to trust them. He truly is a selfless individual & one who will fight to the very end for those he holds in his heart, no questions asked. It is incredibly easy to adore him with your entire heart.

Now Vale, she truly is a powerful FMC. She is a character that was shaped to only look at life & reality within the bubble she was slowly thrust into. One that was taught to believe in one thing wholeheartedly & to be obedient. To remain in the role given to her. But watching her slowly step out of that bubble, pushing the barriers attempting to hold her within, was so rewarding. Her character growth is truly one that has you cheering her on the whole time, rooting for her to continue shaping her own fate. She is a Queen through & through.

Theirs is a love that is transcendent, one that can defy all odds & the fates if need be. This will be a novella you’ll love if you love a GOOD AMOUNT of “only one bed”, second chance romances, delicious forced proximity & a drool-worthy warrior that’s her bodyguard… and a man that is down bad. Read this novella & series if you haven’t already & fall in love with it with ME! 🩵

✨ARC Review✨

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“I fear how thoroughly you wrecked me and how, if I allowed you, you could do it again.”

✨This is a novella in The Curse of Ophelia series that focuses on Cypherion and Vale’s story. Cypherion has been a favorite character of mine since the beginning of this series, and I was so excited to get his perspective. I ate this entire book up in one sitting! I couldn’t get enough of them. My favorite thing about this one is how they’re both secretly yearning for each other

✨Cyph is everything in this book. He *doesn’t want* to be Vale’s bodyguard and yet he’s there. He’s doing things for her that he doesn’t have to. We can see how his feelings for her are still there, but he is hurt by her previous betrayal.

✨Vale knows that her previous betrayal has made Cyph second guess her intentions. But she’s set on proving to him just how much he means to her. She has her own internal battles, and finds that Cyph is the one person she wants to share everything with. Her character growth throughout this book is beautiful.

“Don’t leave me behind.”
“Never.”

The Breaker of Stars has:
🖤 Second chance fantasy romance
⚔️ Bodyguard
🛏️ One bed
🩹 Wound tending
✨ Cute nickname
💨 Hot springs
🖤 Forced proximity

✨Blurb: A war of fractured hearts. A fate written in the stars.
Cypherion does not love recklessly, but he loves hard. And while his friends may have forgiven Vale’s betrayal following the Battle of Damenal, he has kept the Starsearcher at arm’s length. That is, until his Revered commands the two embark on a quest to Vale’s territory in order to find the secrets hidden within her damaged magic. And with so many betrayals being exposed in her life, Vale has one goal: win him back, even if only as a friend. Will Cypherion be able to continue protecting his heart, or will he find a fate that outweighs the risks of love? And if he does, will the eddies of war allow him to keep it?

✨The Breaker of Stars releases July 25th and you’ll want to have it on your list. If you haven’t read the other books in this series, now is the perfect time to start!

✨ Thank you @bynicoleplatania and @legendsliterarymanagement for this ARC 🫶🏼

This book inspired, healed and refreshed me in a lot of ways, despite being intense at certain places! My overall impression of the book is SATISFACTORY.

Seeing Cyph’s hard exterior getting slipped & Vale’s determination to get to his heart despite all the betrayals—that part was so perfectly done! Special mention to Chapter 20>>> ! The pinning, hot springs, one bed and slow burn care just added to the ongoing tension. ❤️‍🔥 We explored more of FMC’s past than MMC, whereas I was dying to know about his past! 🤧
Being romance centric, while the romance sizzled, I somehow expected more. I’d have found the romance more promising if we saw Cyph and Vale’s story from the start in more detail. Although we got their moments from Damenal, it wasn’t enough for me to 100% connect to their romantic side like I did to other couples of the series.
I understand this is a novella & one can fit only so much, hence I’m looking forward to getting more of Cyph & Vale in coming books.

Our detour to this new territory was surreal! I loved how the starsearcher magic works (& we’re still learning). But some one-liners with all the constellations & fates felt too out-worldly to decipher at times. Or maybe it was only my brain. Although, I am not used to reading this world with concentrated characters & feeling monotonous at some places, I LOVED the introduction of one new character in this one! He’s a complete sweetheart and has all my attention. I’m excited to know more about him!

The plot wasn’t dense, the pace slow but engaging. Last 4 chapters notched my experience higher. Those chapters were a complete banger. 🤌🏻(Hate a certain b@st@rd for all his selfishness, ifykyk). I loved how ever much we got to know about Starsearchers. It’s all so divine!🌟💫 The last line of the book has me so excited for the next ones! There are still so many questions to solve!👀🤭

Vale and Cypherion..this was the story I knew I wanted but turns out I 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙𝙚𝙙. Talk about a novella that was so incredibly well done you just never want it to end!! Idk how Nicole packed so much plot and character development into such a small book but I am endlessly impressed by her writing! This is definitely a novella that cannot be read as a standalone and is necessary to read in order with the series because it furthers the plot quite a bit! I am obsessed with Vale and Cyph though and I just want the best for them cuz they’ve been through so damn much already! 🥹🥹 their romance is also just 𝓫𝓮𝓪𝓾𝓽𝓲𝓯𝓾𝓵.. and that hot springs scene.. me oh my 👀😮‍💨🥵

Needless to say, I cannot WAIT for The Myths of Ophelia (book 4!) which releases 11/21!

Summary: Cypherion loves hard, but if his trust is broken it's hard to get back in his good graces. Vale has found this out the hard way after her betrayal following the Battle of Damenal. Cypherion keeps away from her until his Revered commands them to return to Vale's territory to figure out what is happening with her magic. Vale aims to win him back, if only as a friend. The Breaker of Stars is a second-chance fantasy romance with cunning political intrigue, sprinkles of celestial magic, and a dazzling love story. It is book 3.5 in The Curse of Ophelia series and contains important series details, recommended to be read between books 3 and 4.

Sarah's Thoughts: I have always loved Cyph, and focusing more on him made me so excited to read this one! And of course, Nicole did not disappoint. The first line alone had me. The banter between Vale and Cypherion was spot on, and I loved how we learned more about these two. Nicole did an excellent job at intertwining the past moments we hadn't gotten to experience between the two and how it affected them during this mission. The ending gutted me. I cannot wait for the next book and this is a novella you do not want to miss!!

This is easily one of the best novellas I've ever read. I am shocked and impressed by the amount of story, character growth, and world building that Nicole has managed to squeeze into just over 200 pages. This is book 3.5 in The Curse of Ophelia and must be read in order between The Trials of Ophelia and The Myths of Ophelia (coming in November!!!).

This is a side quest that Cyperion and Vale take during Trials and while we see them leave in Trials, we don't know what happens on that mission. Well now we do.

There has been a lot of off page relationship development with these two throughout the series so far and finally getting to see that relationship come to the light is so delicious. But it's not an easy road. There is betrayal and lost trust to heal from. These emotions between these characters are so raw in this story and I loved all of it.

Vale is so vulnerable in this story and being able to witness her gain strength not only through herself but also through Cyph is so rewarding. And seeing Cypherion tear down his carefully constructed walls and let Vale in is so satisfying. (Particularly in the hot springs 😏🥵.) They both heal so much in this book both together and individually and I can't wait to see how their story continues.

This book not only moves Vale and Cyph's story forward, but it progresses the series as a whole which I was really impressed by. I can't wait for The Myths of Ophelia in November to see where this story goes from here.

I absolutely loved this y'all. TCOO is one of my favorite series, and Cypherion is one of my favorite characters, so I was so excited for this novella.

There was so much betrayal leading into this story and I was nerve-wracked trying to figure out where it was going to go and how we were going to mend all the broken hearts.

While I wish it was a bit longer and we got a little more exposition, it was still handled so well for how short it was. The flashbacks helped explain previous situations we had not been privy to before, and helped build the relationship enough to understand it.

I always want more Cypherion so this was a very welcome addition to the series as a whole.

If you haven't picked these up yet, go do it! There are 3.5 books and they're all available on KU.

Thank you to Legends Literary Management for the ARC!

This is book 3.5 in the Curse of Ophelia series and it should be read between books 3 and 4 because there are things that happen and you'd be a little confused if this is skipped. (Also why would you want to skip a novella???)

I love Cypherion as a character and finding out he got his own novella???? This story follows him and Vale on a journey back to where she's from to try and figure out why her readings aren't working correctly, and why she faints every time. Nicole gave us TENSION with these two in the other books and none of their story was really on page so I loved that this was all them.

There were some twists and turns I was NOT expecting and I can't believe the book ended like that. I'm excited to see where Cyph and Vale's story goes within the next two books!

I love a good bodyguard romance, but add in the second chance and it is perfection!

I loved getting these POVs while on their side mission from The Curse of Ophelia books.

My heart breaks for Vale and loved getting more of her background. And I need more of her.

It was great to get inside Cypherion's head. He is so loyal and enjoyed seeing what made him tic.

I need more of them. Excited to see what Nicole has planned. Don't skip this book!
