The Beginning
The Vampire Hunter's Daughter is the first in a serialized novel by Jennifer Malone Wright. Fourteen-year-old Chloe witnesses her mother's murder at the hands of a vampire. Before the vampire can kidnap her, there is an unexpected rescue by a group of vampire hunters. Overwhelmed by the feeling of safety, Chloe passes out and they whisk her away to their small community. When Chloe wakes, she comes face to face with the only other living relative, besides her mother, whom she has ever met: her grandfather. Chloe's mother kept her hidden from the family; now, Chloe tries to unveil the family secrets. Through her grandfather, she learns her mother was a vampire hunter. Ugh. Thank goodness this was free. I was under the assumption this was a book, but after downloading it, I realized it was a novella. In fact, the whole series is comprised of novellas.
Honestly, I couldn't even finish this. I got to this pivotal scene, where the girl's (I can't even remember the main character's name, and I literally just looked away from the page) mother was just killed in front of her, she is about to be kidnapped, and strange people bust in to try and save her. Through all this action, I felt nothing. Not one single thing. In fact, I was focused more on the lack of flow from sentence to sentence than the actual events. The writing, the story, and the characters, are forced and sub-par.
Seriously, don't waste your time on this. It somehow has a 3.83 rating, butttttt...
Learn from my mistakes. Put the book down and back away slowly!

Are you freaking kidding me?! I just saw a list for Best Independent Novels and this was ranked #2. 2nd?!?! As in, THIS IS THE 2ND BEST INDEPENDENT NOVEL THESE PEOPLE HAVE READ?!? Have they been reading the same book as me?! Oh jeez, I think I just died a little on the inside... it actually, physically hurts my head when I think about people enjoying this that much.

Firstly I want to say it takes a lot to get me this annoyed and to actually add on to a review. But I feel it necessary!
Beware, do not write what you truly think on here or anywhere else is you agree with me. You will get nothing but hassle!! You will find my original thoughts on this book below, but since I have had NOTHING but grief from the author, and her friends, and a few others on my FB review page, I thought I’d add more too it. It seems I’ve been condemned for not mentioning the storyline and for having my own thoughts and opinions. However I notice a lot of reviews of this book don't mention the storyline, but hey, since they are 4-5 star reviews, they don't have to. So here goes.
Chloe is a young girl who’s life, world is changed forever after one awful night where she witnesses her mother get killed. She learned her mother was a vampire hunter. She then has a lot to deal with, she needs to adjust and learn more about herself.
Also I understand it says a short story. But to my mind, there is a difference between a short story and something almost none existent.
OK, finished. Below are my thoughts.

I’m sorry to those who like this book, but I found it... pointless. This is just the start of a story. That is it. Nothing more and nothing less. Not original, not... anything. I’m sorry, I’m an author myself and I know harsh reviews can be upsetting, but we all get them. My MAJOR gripe is the fact that all these books are tiny. All part of the same story. All SOLD separately!! Well, rip-off. Just stating a fact here. If you have a story to tell, then tell it in a book, full length one, instead of expecting people to pay for pretty much a chapter or two at a time. Hell, what a way to make money. Hey, why doesn’t everyone do that?? Oh yeah, because we don’t rip off our fans!
Can’t say anymore than that. Didn’t like it. Gave it two stars because I HATE giving 1 star reviews, and lets be honest, the cover is pretty. That’s it. Other than that, I'm glad I didn't spend money on it.

The Vampires Hunters Daughter: Park 1 by Jennifer Malone Wright.
My review:
This was a free download, and like with most of the books I download for free I make my decision based on the title and the cover. Whoopee for me.

First off, I love that Cloe, the heroin of the story loves to read and I have to share this sentence with your guys from the book "These books are ancient. They aren't your basic encyclopedia or articles written by a blogger." Since the preservation of libraries with printed books is a cause I feel strongly about, I loved this sentence and had to share it with you guys.
This is an amazing story but. . . . hey, come on, you knew there would be a BUT. . . but, the story was only getting good when It ended, it is way too short and too boot it is the only book by this author that I own.
So two very large BUT's in this. Since that is the extent of my criticism it should be obvious that this is a must read. I loved the story, I loved the Buffy meets Angle type of background that I found so terribly lacking in the Buffy series.
This however is NOT a Buffy the Vampire Slayer rehash or spin off. This book has a very distinct, unique feel to it. I sincerely hope the author, Jennifer Malone Wright has some more of these extraordinary tales up her sleeve and that they are readily available.
I know The Birth of Jaiden is available and believe you me. I am a hunting. I give this short book a 7 ******* review. I can't wait to get my hands on some more books by this author.

OMG!!! I have no idea WHY I had waited so long to read this short story, but I am kicking myself in the rump already! I needed a distraction today and decided to grab one of the shorty's on my kindle and I picked this little gem. Jennifer's writing is fluid, the story draws you completely in from the first paragraph! I need to know what happens to Chloe next!! I am running to amazon and snagging the rest as soon as I'm finished posting this.

Well that pissed me off! How could Jennifer do that to the readers? This story ended right when it started! URGH! And the worst part is it ends right when the story gets interesting. And I can't believe that there are already six parts to the story and you can buy the complete set. I would do that if I were you then you wouldn't be left hanging.
But otherwise, the book was amazing!!!!!! It had a grip on me right from the beginning up until the very last period. It was action- packed, fast- paced, and filled with mystery and the right amount if emotion. From the very brief encounter with the characters, they seem like they have their heads on straight and will rock. I will be waiting to meet Chloe's dad and see if he is as bad as he seems. I can't wait to continue with the series and see where it leads.

I gave this story 5*****s because I LOVE the way this is set up into Parts! The first part is were we are getting introduced to Chloe and the other characters in the book and what and who Chloe is! This is the first type of book set up that I have read and so far I am enjoying it! It puts you into more suspence because you have to wait for part 2 to learn a little more and so on!! I LOVE it!! Thank you Jennifer for an awesome read and I can't wait to read P2!!

An amazing start to an awesome series. The action starts right away! I like the writing, it was enticing and engaging, keeping you flipping through the pages to see what will happen next. My only regret is that I waited so long to read this. I have the next two shorts in this series and am looking forward to reading them. I highly reccommend this author's works, she won't dissappoint.

I loved this!!! It's no secret that I'm a paranormal lover, so I'm sure it's not a shock that I loved this story. You should most definitely grab a copy and read it. It's free so if you don't love it as much as I do, you aren't out a penny!! ;)

Hi y'all Anne here. I was given the chance to read the short story by Jennifer Malone Wright The Vampire Hunters Daughter, and let me say I truly hope that this becomes a full blown book.. More parts are to come but the writing style and story line are intense, gripping, and fun. It takes a great writer to write a short story that will have fans biting at the bits to get more and that's exactly what this does!! Cliff hangers included!!The characters are likable and seemingly dangerous on some accounts, I can't wait to see how this story plays out. I can't wait for the rest of this story to unfold after loss, revenge, and pain maybe love will blossom for our young heroine!! 5 out of 5 stars for The Vampire Hunters Daughter by Jennifer Malone Wright..

I have to admit a book has to catpture me in the first few chapters to hold my attention and intrest..well let me assure you that "The Vampire Hunter's Daughter" Captured my attention and intrest and kept me glued to each and every page ..It starts full of action and you are off and running into a very solid and well thought out storyline ..the characters are strong right from the very first page and the story continues that way ....the only bad thing i have to say is that there wasnt enough of it ..i want more and i dont want to wait! Do yourself a favour and add "The Vampire Hunter's Daughter" to the top of you to read list. I give 5 out of 5 stars for this book and ask Jenn to PLEASE hurry im already twitchy thinking about part II

This whole series is TERRIFIC! A great read hands down!! I was hooked (line & sinker) after the very first one! I began with the Part I (free version) & immediately went to purchase Part II-V. Then I was totally bummed to see part VI was not yet released. Eagerly awaiting the release I found myself needing a Wright fix, so back to search I went. I about jumped for joy to see her novel The Birth of Jaiden! It's a must read as well!! She brings such life into her characters & builds this story that sucks you in completely! Every book left me wanting more without making me feel like the ending was incomplete. She definitely has a knack for this! ;-) I look forward to reading many many more writings by this author!!!!

This s the first installment of an old fashioned serial novel! I love it! It has been a long time since I have read a novel written this way. I find it fun, fun, fun! This installment sets up the whole premise of the series beautifuly. I am actually goig to start the next one as soon as I finish this review so it is going to be super short ;).

* I will be reviewing these books all together so the rating reflects all three books. Possible spoilers ahead*
After reading books after books over the past few weeks, I felt like I needed a break to read something short, fun and easy. Trying to pick the book was the hard part but when I seen the author was giving away FREE copies away of part one of this series, I suddenly knew which series to try. And I got exactly what I wanted with The Vampire Hunter's Daughter.......a short, fun and easy read!
This story follows the life of a young girl named Chloe who one night watches her mother be killed....right in front her. When Chloe awakes she's been taken to a safe haven where she quickly learns it's her grandfather’s house and that the people that killed her mother aren't humans but vampires. Chloe also find out that she comes from a long line of Vampire Hunters who protect people from vampires but how can Chloe be a hunter when she's a half-vampire? Now knowing who she really is Chloe is determined to to seek revenge on her vampire father for killing her vampire hunter mother but first she needs to train and train hard to become the best.
As Chloe starts training with help from Drew, it’s not long before she encounters her first vampire since her mother's murder and even though she knows what to do, she freezes leaving Drew to save the day. She now knows she needs to train harder than ever and when she does it's obvious that she is more advanced than any other hunters. Maybe being half vampire hunter and half vampire isn't so bad after all?
The Vampire Hunter’s Daughter books are fast paced and exciting short stories. This really isn’t a series I’d recommend if you want something long or complicated, it is what it is and short stories are always going to be short stories. Now I think the author; Jennifer Malone Wright did a really good job introducing Chloe. Chloe’s life is turned upside down when her mother is murdered and it was captured within the first few lines. Now Chloe as a character, I thought she was strong and easy to like, I did think she was a little rash at times. Like the way she reacts to Drew but I think that’s her trying to hide her feelings. Do I smell a possible romance brewing? I hope so because I think adding the romance aspect into the story now would be great. Drew’s a great character too but I’d like to get to know him a little more, he’s kind of in the back-ground at the moment helping Chloe train so I’d like to see them interact that much more.
The storyline is exciting but at times a little too easily resolved and a little predictable but nonetheless still enjoyable. I almost wish the novels were bigger so we could connect to the characters that much more but again that would defeat the point of them being short.
Overall, The Vampire Hunter’s Daughter books have had a great start and I’m eager to see what comes next.

I must admit i have had this book in my review pile for a little while now, but if i thought that i would enjoy it as much as i have i would have picked it up much sooner. I loved the story - line from the start, it had great pace and carries the reader along with it, The characters are well formed in depth and most of all believable. Chloe has a lot thrown at her in a short time, and with finding out she is not who she thought she was, and now needs to learn all new skills as well as come to terms with seeing her mother murdered. This is the first in the series and for lovers of the paranormal i would suggest go get it and try it out you will not be disappointed. I know i want to find out what is going to happen next, how is she going to cope with the training and what about her family is there more for her to learn.

The Vampire Hunter's Daughter by Jennifer Malone Wright is the first in a series of short stories. From the beginning of the story, Chloe's life is full of action and fighting. The way the beginning starts off directly to the point and full of action pulled me right in. I was hooked. I started this book an hour ago looking for something to take me away while I had a moment to relax. I must say this was the perfect choice.
Chloe, 14 years old, is pulled out of her sleep and witnesses what no child her age should, her mother murdered right in front of her. She's taken away to her mothers family, a bunch of Vampire Hunters, and now she's out for revenge for the murder of her mother. I give this short story 5 ***** stars. I can't wait to see what happens next.

ARC for Review ~ Absolutely loved this first installment, I truely hope this does become a full book! Lots of action, unexpected twists and turns... leaving the reader anticpating more from Jennifer Malone Wright... I am at cliffhanger and want more. Nicely written, clean and very clear, characters are testy, fun, and very likeable or unlikeable, the world building is awesome and believable as well.

This is a short story that is part 1 to a serial novel, The Vampire Hunter's Daughter. I have heard mixed reviews and decided that I needed to read it for myself to see what all the fuss was about. Besides, the book was free!
I loved the storyline. It was a quick read, but just enough to help decide if I wanted to continue with the rest of the novel or not. This one left me wanting more, looking forward to see what happens next!

This is a nice beginning to a series. Chloe wakes to her mother trying to hide her. She's been moved around for years not knowing that it is because they are in hiding. When her mother is murdered in front of her, people from her mother's past come in and save her and take her to her grandfathers. I really enjoyed this first segment in this series. The author skillfully pulled you in and told you a great story. I was hooked from page one and honestly would have gone crazy if I didn't have part two to follow up with. This segment has a ton of suspense, action, and downright crazy fight scenes. I recommend this book to all who like a bit of a twist on the normal vampire/hunter story :)

This was an interesting first read in this series, straight into the storyline and it left me with enough interest to want to read the next one...

I'm so excited to read this collection. I have never read a serial novel and this 1st part definitely keeps you wanting more. Onto part 2 :)

I am so sad that I have had this book for over a year and it just sat in my Kindle, sadly, waiting for me to open it and read it.
Gah! I am such a crazy person sometimes.
I hate it when I have no idea that a wonderful series is just sitting there, waiting for me to get my act together and start it.
I am so glad that the author nudged me into starting it. If I hadn't who knows how long it would have sat there and I would have been missing out.
I love discovering series that are just fabulous and yet unknown. I love spreading the word about them.
And this is quite the series. Right away we are swept into the story with a whirl wind of non stop action as Chloe's whole life is about to take a drastic change and secrets are revealed.
After she witnesses the brutal murder of her mother by vampires and saved by another group of vampire hunters, Chloe learns there was a lot she didn't know about her mother's life and even her own.
She finds out that not only was her mother a vampire hunter from a prestigious blood line and one of the best there were but that her father also happens to be a vampire and he has been searching for her since the day she was born.
If that wasn't weird enough she is thrown into a new town and home, a community especially designed for vampire hunter where she learns she has a grandfather she never knew existed and that she too, will be training to take her mother's place in the family line.
Yep, her world is about to change.
This is such a fun series and I love that it is broken up in parts (may sound strange to some, I know) I love that I can read it when I don't have a whole lot of time and still get something action packed and that will leave me eager to start the next installment. And each installment just keeps getting better and better.
I do have to warn you though, this will be a series that you will want more than one part before you start it because, one just won't be enough. And the great part? you can try the first part in this series for free, you can purchase it on Amazon and Smashwords free of charge. Pretty fabulous right?
So what are you waiting for, go out, give it a try. You won't regret it!

So I got this book on amazon... I think, and she keeps asking for reviews, so I read it. Now I’m reviewing it. Truthfully I’ve been holding this off for a looooong time since it’s only part one and that’s probably going to be the only one I can get. Better to not start a series if you know you won’t be able to finish it. (I am a wise person :D)
The Review:
The story. The Character. The bad guys. They are like Bam in your face! They’re all strong and well written. 19 pages was enough to draw me in and leave me wishing for more. The way the plot is set up isn’t to like another vampire book out there. If you liked the Vampire Academy series then you’d like this. Less school and more vampires and killing the bad guy.
We get the chance to see that there might be a future relationship, or it’s just me seeing this. I hope not!
Would I read more? Heck yeah!

For fourteen years, Chloe has lived a sheltered existence. Her beloved mother has been her constant companion, providing her with whatever she needs. In school, she's content to keep to the shadows and avoid bonding with others at all costs. Her way of life suits her. It's the only one she's ever known. Yet her entire life changes the night a group of vampires break into her home and murder her mother.
Salvation arrives in the form of an unruly group of vampire hunters intent on eliminating the threat to their existence. Watching from the sidelines, Chloe never once imagined just how much her world would come crashing down within the blink of an eye. Her mother was dead and she now had a grandfather to contend with. Knowledge of the supernatural plane that now exists around her is overwhelming and she finds herself floundering in a dark abyss as she tries to make sense of what's been kept from her for so long.
Given the opportunity to learn more about who and what she is, Chloe agrees to her grandfather's demands. Her goal is to learn enough so that she can kill the vampire that took her mother away from her. Part of her also wonders if she can live up to people's expectations. There's one thing she's definitely sure of, she'll do anything to avenge her mother's death. But first she'll need to come to terms with the secrets that have slowly risen to the surface.
This was quite an intriguing story, a unique spin on the dhampir and hunters versus vampires twist. Chloe's innocence shines through every turn of the page and we're able to catch a glimpse of her vulnerability as she tries to deal with loss of her mother and the consequences of being a half human and half vampire hybrid. Her life is far from easy, but she's willing to make the most of the situation at hand. That, in itself, is endearing.
I did catch a couple instances where there were a couple grammar and punctuation errors, but nothing too major, so to speak. At least, nothing that detracted from the storyline itself. There were also a couple places in the story that I thought could use a bit of tightening up, but other than that, it's a good read.

After being awakened in the middle of the night by her mother, hidden in a closest from the intruders that broke into their home. Felicia, her mother was demanded to hand over Chloe!!!! Nope, she isn’t going to do it.
A fight/battle ensues with the vampires, her mother fighting against them.. Why??? You might be asking… They’ve come for Chloe, to take her to the father that she has never known.
I’m not going to give away anymore, but you need to know this; The Vampire Hunter’s Daughter is a series that engulfs you from the very beginning with it’s accelerating fast pace, with an ongoing storyline that unfolds with each installment.
You became familiar with the characters quickly, who they are, and what they are about as the premise flows smoothly. Clearly and precisely a captivating phenomenal story.
I absolutely love Author Jennifer Malone Wrights style. At times it felt like I could just picture her as she was plotting the next scene. Sitting there, her amazing brain churning as each sentence is written…. Tick, tick, tick…
The Vampire Hunter’s Daughter series is a MUST READ for everyone with a love of vampires and or vampire hunters. I just wish that I had started this series way back when, when I first saw it on Goodreads and Facebook.

The Vampire Hunter's Daughter is a great short story. It took me a little less than half an hour to read. The characters were very well written. At first, after Chloe's mother dies, I thought she was going to be a very weak miserable character, but she pulled it together. I think the experience made her stronger in the end. My only complaint about the story is I wish it was a little longer. I can't wait to find out if Chloe ever meets her dad. I so, I hope she defeats him with the kick ass training she is going to learn. This was a quick and fun short read. I am definitely buying part two as soon as I finish this review.
