Thank you Zachary Graham for sending me a copy of this!
Jasmine was viciously attacked, raped, and left for dead. The trauma and wounds she experienced cannot be fathomed, and to add insult to injury, the local police refused to help her, even going as far as to blame and dismiss her. But Jazz and her boyfriend have a plan. They need revenge, and they will stop at nothing.
This was such a satisfying read in many ways, and the topic is just so… timely. Time and time again we hear of these stories, and because of some lame reason, the perpetrators get off with a slap on the wrist. It’s infuriating and unfair, but then again, life is unfair. I remember following this case of a girl who pretty much went through the same thing, but in the end, her trauma won that battle. And the guys? Probably still out there living their lives. Heads up though this book does contain a lot of gory details so mind your trigger warnings.
The relationship between Jazz and Connor felt very mature, not at all like 17 year olds. But then again, going through trauma can definitely change a person. As satisfying as it was to read this, it does make me sad that reality is usually not like this. With all the injustices in the world, I feel like this book has an oddly calming effect on me. Fiction, yes, but it kind of scratched that itch for revenge. I really enjoyed the ending and the alternate ending. It’s an interesting touch for sure!
