The Way You Shine

Delaney

Becoming the nanny for Cole, the older single dad, who's as grumpy as he is quiet–was a curveball I never saw coming.

After leaving a toxic relationship, quitting my mundane accounting job, and living in my car, the cautious Cole Campbell helps me get back on my feet.

He gives me a job, a room in his countryside home, and a sense of security I’ve never once had in my chaotic life.

The only thing he’s reluctant to give me is his heart.

We have a three-month deal before I’m gone.

Is it long enough to break down his walls and convince him he deserves to be loved?

Cole

Delaney Emerson is pure sunshine.

She’s ten years my junior. Wild, loud–drop dead gorgeous.

She’s the last person I ever thought I’d hire to be my daughter’s nanny.

Maybe it’s the tempting late-night swims, trips to the bar, or the faux cow milking contest she talks me into. But without even trying, Delaney shows me how to feel alive again for the first time in years.

Being around her is a chance I shouldn’t take.

So why do I want nothing more than to win her heart?

Amelia discovered her love for writing in third grade when her teacher praised her story about hidden treasure as "phenomenal." Pairing this early encouragement with years of obsessively watching "Notting Hill" and "You’ve Got Mail," it's no surprise Amelia now writes contemporary romance novels. When she's not writing or reading, Amelia spends her time raising her two fierce daughters or enjoying late night pizza with her husband.

If I could give this book more than 5 stars I would it was so good. The characters were so enjoyable and the grumpy sunshine was done so perfectly! This book had some of my favorite tropes aka single dad, grumpy sunshine, age gap and more and they all worked so well together! I’ve never read a book so fast in my life I got so wrapped up in it I literally couldn’t put it down. Do yourself a favor and preorder this book right now!! I literally can’t wait to reread it!!!

Single dad & nanny + age gap + texts on page!

After escaping an abusive relationship & quitting her job, Delaney needs a fresh start. Nannying for Cole & a room in his house give her security.

Cole feels alive for the first time in years. The reason: his daughter’s nanny, Delaney.

It’s a risk. But they both can’t escape their feelings.

Read if you love…
✨grumpy (him) & sunshine (her)
🫶🏼dual perspective
✨single parent, MMC
👏🏼no third act breakup
✨forced proximity, roommates
🤣sassy & hilarious five year old
✨age gap, he’s older
💬texts on page
✨he falls first
🔥open door
✨mutual pining
🏊🏼‍♀️a lot of backyard pool time
✨last names as nicknames
🥵“good girl” & “that’s my girl”

I freaking love this book! Amelia absolutely slayyyyyed her debut book!

The mix of tropes is absolutely phenomenal: single dad + nanny, forced proximity as roommates, age gap, and grumpy & sunshine. Yes f’ing please!!!

I absolutely loved the notes on page, the banter, and the sass! The mutual pining was so obvious and the way they each interpreted the other was perfection.

Ava is absolutely the star of every scene she’s in. She’s sassy, free spirited, hilarious, and just pure wild child sunshine! I loved the way Delaney & Ava connected and understood each other!

This is an absolute must to put at the top of your TBR!

✨Rep: social anxiety
‼️Content: parental abandonment, MC & kiddo; abusive ex, past but mentioned & two on page scenes; death of a parent, past

while i enjoyed the reading experience immensely, i can‘t give any more stars than this.

i almost feel like i‘ve witnessed plagiarism, because this book feels like a carbon copy of heartless by elsie silver.
THE ENTIRE sequence of events is completely the same. all the core plot points are COPIED. even the characters feel extremely similar, just some of the interests and characteristics are either exchanged or heightened.

it is so extremely obvious to me that i can‘t even believe in a coincidence anymore. especially after i‘ve done some digging on the author‘s instagram and realized that she has in fact read Heartless before/during writing this book.

this behavior is disgusting to me and puts other indie authors to shame. this is nothing but a cashgrab without any original ideas and i‘m appaled that not a single review is aware of this or chose to ignore it.

i highly recommend everyone to read heartless by elsie silver instead because on this blog we support original ideas and authors who actually give a fuck <33

if by any chance you‘re reading this amelia, i hope you take this to heart. because girly, you can write. you‘re an insanely talented author that can do a lot better than just copying a storyline.

this was such a great debut novel! 🥹 delaney and cole were truly everything. they were funny, sexy and so sweet together. i related to cole so much and his happy ending was so earned. i thought delaney was such a fun female character and her scenes with ava were the sweetest thing ever. the epilogue was also one of the most romantic things ever. i can't wait for a maybe second chance romance between jude and ella in the next book!
thank you to Amelia Chasen for the ARC!

4.5 ⭐️!! I absolutely loved reading this! Cole, grumpy vibes with anxiety and a real heart of gold that he's afraid to show. Delaney, extremely outgoing personality with fun vibes! I loved these characters as I really felt like I could relate to both as Delaney is coming out of a toxic/abusive relationship and Cole, being afraid to love again and let loose after being hurt by one he loved. I love his love and admiration for his daughter🥹 I immediately fell in love with Delaney's personality and the BANTER between her and Cole, shoot even Ava! This book had me laughing so hard at some moments and then on the verge of tears of how real some of these emotions felt within the characters. Even side characters, like Cole's mom.. LOVE. Everything grabbed my attention and I felt like I couldn't put this one down!! Perfect read for some laughs, tears, heartfelt moments, and let's not forget about the spice!! 3/5 for spice moments! Highly recommend this read to anyone who loves a great story, loves spicy scenes, and loves feeling like they can feel part of the story 🥰

“For her, I want to be a better man. I want to be her everything.”

💖 single dad x nanny
💖 age gap (30/40)
💖 blue collar worker 🥵
💖 grumpy x sunshine
💖 forced proximity

this would have been a solid 4/5 star read if it hadn’t been for that third act breakup. and so much miscommunication when they’re literally 30 & 40 years old.

i don’t mind the push & pull in single dad x nanny books and here i was waiting for the 3rd act just due to the fact that’s her 3 month employment was coming to an end however what upset me was how his ex was the pushing factor to this breakup. i don’t even mind ow drama with trope in the form of the ex trying to rile stuff up but i don’t like when they succeed 🙄
he knew she was saying what she said to get under his skin and rethink his relationship with Delaney. seriously. she is a shit mom but gonna let her basically dictate your relationship??? gtfo

I really enjoyed reading this book! I'm a sucker for any story with a grumpy-sunshine duo and Delaney's sunshine despite everything she goes through is truly amazing. Cole is such a thoughtful dad and Ava is too cute. If you love nanny/single dad, age gap, and/or grumpy/sunshine you need to check out this book!

ARC REVIEW

Oh my gosh did I eat this whole story up.

First let’s talk about the MMC Cole, he’s the grumpy blue collar contractor that wears his had BACKWARD. (A fave micro trope of mine) He falls for the “younger” nanny after being used to being alone. This man has all the worth but past trauma that makes him insecure. I loved seeing him slowly come out of his shell as the story unfolded.

“It gets dark sometimes. It’s okay to not be okay. Before you know it, the sun will rise again. You won’t feel bad forever, I promise.”

Delaney recently leaves a traumatic relationship and has to pave her own way. And dang does she work for it from the ground up. She is the life of the party definitely 100% of the time. And I love the relationships she creates with everyone throughout the story.

“Around you, I feel like I belong. Like suddenly, I'm not a mismatched puzzle piece, but instead, I've found my spot where I click in effortlessly.”

This has a lot of the tropes I LOVE, and it is done in the perfect way. It’s giving an amazing small town feel and i definitely want to see more of all of these characters in the future. What an amazing debut novel!

What to expect:
Single Dad
Age Gap
Grumpy X Sunshine
Age Gap (he’s 40 she’s 30)
Small town
Open door spice

Thank you to the author Amelia Chasen for sending me an arc of her debut novel! 💛

First of all, the cover of this book is stunning! 🤩 I love the way it complements the title and the story so well. Everything about it screams spring/ summer read.

The Way You Shine was a fun read. Even though it does talk about serious topics, it still felt lighthearted and fun.

I was immediately in love with the main characters, Delaney and Cole. I loved their chemistry and their personalities being so opposite from each other, yet blending in so perfectly. I also loved little Ava and how quickly her and Delaney got along. It melted my heart. 🥹

The story resonated with me and I felt emotional at times reading about what the characters were going through. Seeing both of them struggle with their own emotional battles and yet being there for the other was just so sweet. 🥹
I was swooning hard at the little acts of service Cole did for Delaney and just at how good of a man he is. 😮‍💨

I’m going to be honest, I did get a little frustrated toward the end of the book. I wanted to yell at Cole to stop self-sabotaging his own happiness. I understood why he was afraid of not being enough for her but it was tough reading that part and seeing Delaney heartbroken. 💔
I wished both of them realized sooner how madly in love with each other they were. 🥹

Overall I loved this book. It had all the right elements of tender moments, spicy scenes, and romance. I had such a good time reading this book and would totally recommend, especially if you enjoy grumpy/sunshine, nanny/single dad romance books. 💞

Mini Spoiler ⚠️
I wish we could have gotten Delaney’s reaction when Cole said “I love you” for the first time since it just skipped to the next chapter and then I felt she acted as if he didn’t just tell her,“Never change. Because I love you just the way you are.” ❣️

WOW! The Way You Shine drew me in with all the tropes (single dad x nanny, grumpy/sunshine, age gap, forced proximity, TEXTS!!!) and DID IT DELIVER!! The tension between the two, the chemistry, the banter, the way they learned about each other and showed support...if you couldn't tell, I loved this book.

Delaney just left a toxic relationship and was needing some changes to her life. Cole needed a nanny, but Delaney with the sunshiney personality was the last person he ever thought he would hire. The temptations the two experience, the increasingly not subtle notes that were left by the coffee, the nights out, the small gestures, the way Delaney was with Cole's daughter from the very first meeting, I was eating up every detail.

There was some drama, but between Cole's mom and Delaney's friends, there was so much support for the couple as they worked through their insecurities.

Also, I absolutely loved when I found out why the book was titled The Way You Shine. The line that it's in and the timing, I just squealed and melted at the same time. It was so good.

Thank you Amelia Chasen for the ARC!

Perfect grumpy/sunshine, age gap, opposites attract story! I loved how Cole loved his daughter and accepted her exactly as she is and never tried to change her. Even though he didn’t really like Delaney when they first meet, he recognizes that she is a kindred spirit with his daughter and a perfect short-term nanny.
Delaney left her abusive boyfriend and is starting fresh. She knows there is something about Cole and trying to break him out of his shell that gives her joy and the instant love she has for his daughter is amazing.
I loved the banter, humour, friendship then love that grows between them and that they don’t try to change each other, accepting each other, but also trying to bring out more of each other at the same time.
Texting in the page is great and I love the growth they had and the strength Delaney has with the caring heart of Cole was wonderful!
Loved it from start to finish and was sad when it was over.

This book was so adorable and spicy! Cole and Delaney are everything. I actually work as a nanny, so you know I just had to read this and so glad I did. He writes her notes and buys her special coffee 😍

Delaney is literal sunshine and doesn't let her past traumas hold her back! Cole is a broody single dad who has closed himself off from love In order to protect this heart and his daughters.

I think this book can be very relatable to others.
I'm hoping there will be a next book with Jude and Ella!

Age gap romance and single dads are my jam, and this one did not disappoint.

Now, where I am going to ruffle some feathers 🫠

Yes, I got Heartless vibes, but I don't think it's at all fair to accuse the author of plagiarism or copying that book. I also got vibes from any other book about a grumpy DILF who falls for the nanny. The two first meet at a gymnasium, not a cafe. The result of his ex-wife showing up unannounced is completely different than what happens in Heartless. Also, this type of ex/parent coming back and wreaking havoc is not exclusive to that book.

While the FMC definitely gives off vibes that she'll tell the waitress if her shy best friend's order is wrong (bless her), Delaney is leaving an abusive relationship at the beginning of the book, living in her car, and rediscovering herself post an incredibly toxic relationship. Her dad left before she was born, and her mom bailed when she was a teenager. Neither of her parents were wealthy. I don't understand this "aLL tHe ChArAcTeRs aRe ThE ExAcT SaMe!" business.

The way Cole protected Delaney and provided her with a safe space, both physically and emotionally - be still my heart. I also really loved that Delaney could connect with Ava on a certain level because they both had sorry excuses for mothers. If you're into single dads and nannies, then I definitely recommend this one.

*Check TWs and be prepared for a 3rd act heartbreak 😔

ATTENTION FANS OF GRUMPY SINGLE DADS: This is a must read! For fans of the age gap, opposites attract, and only soft for you (and his kids) tropes, this romance is one you don’t want to miss!
.
I ate this up! Everything from the small town setting and the mmc with a blue collar construction job (swoon! We love a blue collar man!) to the grumpy x sunshine chemistry that oozed off the pages, I loved it all. A realistic look at life and love and everything that comes with it, I loved how relatable these characters felt. Throw in the child side characters which you all know by now that I love most of all, and I binged this! My first Amelia Chasen book and definitely not my last!

The Way You Shine ARC Review

i was very fortunate to receive an ARC of The Way You Shine by Amelia Chasen. All opinions are my own and given freely.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
🌶️🌶️/5

content warning: mentions, and a brief on-page scene, of emotional/verbal abuse from a partner, parental abandonment, mentions of anxiety, open door, detailed sex scenes, alcohol use, profanity.

“maybe i’m a fool for partially professing my love to her. but for delaney emerson, i’d be a fool for the rest of my life if it meant i got to spend it with her.”

i don’t know what amelia put in this book but i devoured it! i finished it in one day, i just couldn’t stop. i loved everything about this book and for a debut novel, amelia absolutely killed it!! the only complaint i have is that it wasn’t longer! i could read about delaney and cole forever.

delaney is literal sunshine. i loved how bright and cheerful she was despite everything she has going on in her life. and her interactions with ava…heart melting 🥺 the instant connection between the two of them was the sweetest!

cole is a lovable grump. he’s super protective over the people he loves, especially his daughter ava. the soft spot he has for his daughter melted my heart! but he’s closed himself off from love to protect his and his daughters heart.

delaney and cole are polar opposites but it’s clear from their first encounter that their chemistry is off the charts! the fun, flirty and sexual banter between them was just everything. delaney and cole and truly magic together! together they helped each other discover what real love actually was. throw ava into the mix and the three of them are the perfect little happy family and it warmed my heart so much 🥹

i really loved getting to know and fall in love with these characters!! i cannot wait to read amelia’s future work and once again thank you so much for giving me the chance to read the way you shine early! 💛

This book was so beautiful... that's it! The love between Cole and Delaney is so special! 🥹I was fascinated by the way it was developed and how real these two characters are!

Cole is a single dad and very grumpy!🤭 Delaney is the ray of sunshine that literally appears in Cole's life! One of the most beautiful things about this book is how well-written the characters are and how both of them have a lot of problems, especially self-esteem issues, and how they help each other out. In a way, they complement each other. And the spice was so good and hot 🤭

Ava, Cole's daughter, is so funny, witty and charismatic, and I love the relationship between Cole and Ava, but especially how the relationship between Ava and Delaney grows, has my heart🌷

Honestly, I want to live in this book and be their friends, so this post is to just let you know you have to read this book!!

I can't wait for more books from Amelie!! I love her writing, the way she portrays her characters, the way they talk about their problems and overcome them and I see a potential couple for the next book 👀

Overall, I had such a great time knowing these characters! The way you shine is now one of my new comfort books and I will have to have it on my shelf because it's so beautiful I have to have it near me, possibly 🥹

ARC Review:

I absolutely ADORED this book. Cole Campbell may be my new favorite book boyfriend. The story of Delaney and Cole captivated me from the beginning, Amelia executed the grumpy/sunshine trope flawlessly. Not only did we have tropes like single dad/nanny or a hint of enemies/lovers, but she also gave us gray sweatpants, flirty texts, slow dancing without music, hot dancing/grinding with music, handwritten notes and backwards hats-and yes, the backwards hat is my weakness (thank you Amelia).

Not only was the tension and plot gripping, but Amelia also tackled more serious topics like a traumatic past involving an ex, anxiety, not feeling good enough to be loved, and other aspects of life that everyone struggles with. It was refreshing to see characters go through real life issues and not sugarcoating the healing.

I cannot believe this story was a debut for the author. It was simply incredible-I laughed, cried, and even paced as I read through Cole and Delaney's love story. Ava was the cherry on the top with her adorable antics and easily one of my favorite characters. I am hoping beyond hope that the next story is Jude and Ella's. PLEASE AMELIA

It's safe to say, I'm a new fan of everything Amelia writes. :) If you haven't read The Way You Shine yet...what're you waiting for?!

I read this book voluntarily as an ARC thanks to the author! All thoughts and opinions are my 0wn on The Way You Shine!

Delaney and Cole…swoon! I loved this story. I loved Amelia’s style of writing and world building. The way she described Cole’s house was such a dream. Why wouldn’t any nanny fall in love with her boss? I practically did.

I can totally picture myself spending the summer at my lake house reading this novel. I loved the energy it brought to my life while reading. For me, this book gives off the energy of “comfort read”.

Also, my favorite character by far: COLE’S MOM. Amazing. Amazingly written. She is witty and real and honest. I need a whole book about her life next! Every time she came on page I was grinning from ear to ear.

My only critique is that I actually wish this book was longer. (Which is NOT a bad thing!) I would have loved more follow-up on different character’s stories…like Isabel…and Delaney going back to work at JunoTec… or perhaps more of a final resolution for Delaney’s bad bad ex…

Am I sensing a second novel coming soon between another couple in the book…??? If so, I would ABSOLUTELY read it.

Overall, I’m giving this debut novel a solid 4 stars.. maybe even 4.5 stars because I’ll be thinking about this one for awhile.

Thank you Amelia Chasen for the ARC!

Single dad + nanny + age gap + flirty night swims - what's not to love? This was a great debut from Amelia Chasen! I fell in love with Delaney, Cole, and Ava right away.

Synopsis:
Cole has a lot on his plate as a single dad and running his business. He needs to find a nanny for his daughter asap. Delaney, homeless after leaving a toxic work place and abusive ex, decides she's the perfect woman for the job. This is just a temporary solution to both their problems. But the two of them can't fight their growing attraction to one another. Is their love worth the risk?

This was a lovely read, with low conflict and a well-written plot. A great palette cleanser to get me out of my reading slump. Delaney was absolutely effing hilarious. She's unhinged, chaotic, and has no filter. I loved her so much. Cole is so perfectly grumpy and Delaney helps bring the sunshine to his life. The way Delaney and Cole's daughter Ava connected was on another level. They're wild, sunshine personalities matched perfectly.

I can't wait to see what Amelia Chasen writes next!

I had no idea that this was a debut for the author and let me tell you, it was fantastic! I did not expect to read this as fast as I did, but I just couldn't put it down.

Cole and Delaney were so, so good together. I was all for them from that first time they met! Delaney being her loud, outspoken self and Cole being all handsome and grumpy. They were opposites in a lot of ways, but both just needing to be seen and loved for their true selves. I felt for Delaney and what she had gone through with the people in her life and at the same time, I admired how she was always so positive. I absolutely loved the relationship between Cole's daughter Ava and Delaney. They were two peas in a pod and had me smiling with the constant excitement they brought to Cole 😄

This book had the perfect balance of real life issues and insecurities, love, 🌶️ and romance. I felt like the other characters were perfectly balanced as well. Not too many friend or family members involved to take away from the focus, but just enough to keep it interesting. The end was so sweet. I'd love a little look into Cole and Laney's future too, maybe a few years down the road!

Such a job well done on this one! Loved it! I'll for sure be reading her next book once it's out. Jude and Ella?

Went into this read open minded but was not expecting to fall in love with the characters. If you are a fan of Gilmore Girls vibes, this is THE READ for YOU!!

When it comes to romance books, I am usually one to either like a book or not and don’t typically find myself so invested in the characters. I READ THIS BOOK IN A DAY BECAUSE I COULD NOT GET ENOUGH.

Cole is grumpy, shy and will do anything to protect those closest to him that he loves. Delaney is spunky, outgoing and complete sunshine and ready to turn Cole’s world upside down. Sprinkle in Ava, Cole’s daughter but Delaney’s mini me and you have the picture perfect recipe for the pages in this book!

Amelia Chasen wrote this as her debut novel and it reads like a seasoned professional. The story is” fast” pace to keep you turning pages but for once in a romance, I don’t feel like the story line was rushed at all and you actually get to know and invest in the characters. There is buildup and steamy scenes. Characters learning to deal with their flaws and finding their place in the world. Let downs and fall out, forgiveness and most importantly, love.

⚠️ This book does start with a relationship that ends in verbal/physical abuse so be aware of that for a trigger warning.

ARC REVIEW
4.5/5 ⭐

I LOVED THIS BOOK!

I'm a sucker for a small town romance, single dad × nanny romance, grumpy × sunshine romance, age gap romance and this book includes absolutely everything.

The book is written exceptionally well and the character build-up is good. It's fast paced and all the issues are nicely dealt with.

Cole and Delaney are polar opposites and they are attracted to each other since their first meeting. Cole had to hire Delaney as a nanny for his 5 year old daughter Ava, with whom she instantly clicked and they became a force to be reckoned with when together. Cole and Delaney had their fair share of insecurities as well. They both had a few bad experiences in their past.

It's a beautiful story where there's lots of pining, simmering feelings, sizzling hot chemistry and post it conversations. What started as a job turned into a summer fling and eventually it led to so much more. Cole is a green flag through and through. She is a burst of colours, energy and sunshine extraordinaire.

Since the book is due to release on May 9th so I won't be sharing the entire story beforehand and giving you the spoilers.
I highly recommend this book!!!!!

After leaving an abusive relationship and her job, Delaney starts to live out of her car. She needs a break, a change, even if only temporarily, and the grumpy man in the coffee shop who’s looking for a nanny may just be it. Cole is a single dad who runs his own business, he needs a nanny for his daughter. This may be the solution they both need. But there’s a growing attraction. Will they give in? And will it be worth the risk?

Delaney is pure sunshine to the outside world. She hides her inner turmoil. Cole is all grumpy, believing he’s not worthy of more. Together they are all tension, banter and steaminess. She has no filter, she says what’s on her mind, and her chaoticness is what makes her a fun and intriguing character.

Cole is the perfect book boyfriend - the sweet notes, the possessiveness, the spicy bedroom talk, he ticks all the boxes. His daughter, Ava, is adorable, and a whirlwind just like Delaney. So dang cute.

This age gap, grumpy sunshine, forced proximity, slow burn romance will give you all the feels, and leave you smiling and giddy over the characters. A wonderful debut novel

I usually don’t like slowburns but I don’t know WHAT the author put into this book that I devoured it in a day!

The banter between Delaney and Cole was hilarious I loved every bit of it. The fact that Cole is a shy grump just makes it 10x better🤭 She oozes with confidence enough for the both of them!

The tension between the two was steaming hot🥵 This book might have just made slowburn a new favorite of mine👀

Delaney is such a relatable character. Both herself and her situation. She may seem like the happiest person on earth but on the inside she’s struggling. Cole instantly sees right through her mask.

Cole likes to hide behind his grumpiness but Laney always pushes him out of his comfort zone. Little by little he realizes he wasn’t truly 100% happy before hiring her. Though he has his daughter, who makes him very happy, he forgot how to be just Cole.

Ava is the best! She was one of my favorite characters. She’s such a sassy 5 year old!

This book and both MCs character development were written beautifully.

I honestly can’t believe this is a debut novel! I was sucked in from the very beginning with both the storyline and the characters! Both Cole and Delaney were absolutely everything! I love the chemistry that they had with each other from the very beginning! Those spicy scenes? Hello 🥵The banter between them both had been laughing and then add in little Ava, heck even Cole’s mom, and it was just absolutely hilarious!

There are a few traumatic experiences talked about in this book so please check the trigger warnings but I was so glad to see Cole and Delaney help each other heal! These characters are definitely some that I just know I’ll think about for a long time! I can’t wait for more of this small town world!

Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️

This book follows the journey of two wounded souls finding solace and love in each other's arms. Delaney flees from a toxic and abusive relationship, quitting her job and finding a new one as a nanny for Cole, a single dad who runs his own construction company. Her strength and determination to rebuild her life after leaving such a harrowing situation make her an instantly relatable and inspiring character. Cole, a devoted single father struggling to balance the demands of work and raising his young daughter, allows Delaney into his home, but struggles to let her into his heart as the attraction between the two of them grows. Her spit-fire personality keeps him on his toes, and gradually, she thaws the walls around his heart.

The banter between the two of them has you giggling the entire time, and the spice has you sweating equally as much! The way their relationship grows is so sweet, and gives a feeling of found family that just warms your heart. 10/10 recommend!

Tropes: grumpy x sunshine, nanny x single dad, age gap (10 years)
Triggers: previous abuse/parental abandonment, trauma, verbal abuse, drinking, homelessness

This was what every grumpy x sunshine book tries to be. The trope sometimes gets overused and you start to feel like a bit much at times, but the author destroyed that misconception and made it her own.

I loved Delaney's personality (surprisingly) because it is very different from my own (extrovert where I am definitely an introvert). But I found myself living vicariously through her character and loving every minute of it.

I normally don't like the nanny x single dad trope since I used to nanny and it sometimes gives me the ick factor. But again, this book made me put down my preconceived notions and enjoy the ride (*pun intended*).

This book singlehandedly got me out of a book slump and I finished it in 6 hours. I will DEFINITELY recommend this to anyone who will listen!
