Even though I marked this book as 'read', it's actually a DNF. I was able to make it to about 12% and just couldn't go on. I hate leaving bad reviews and don't think I've ever left a 1-star, especially for a book I didn't finish, but I just don't feel guilty over this one.
For starters, it has so many choppy sentences and grammar mistakes that it's actually hard to read. Some of the sentences don't even make sense and I found myself having to re-read way too much just to try to figure out what was going on. For instance, this is just a few of those many sentences: Her heart had slowed, that was good, he thought she was going to have a heart attack earlier. Her breathing even, and then he saw her leg move, then her arm, then her whole body. Thrashing against her would be rapist, she tried to escape, and Kyle moved next to her. "It's okay, you're safe." o_O What??? And then when she fully wakes up and realizes she's in this strange guy's bed, the first thing she says is, "You've got green eyes." O_o It was like this book wasn't edited at all, not even by the author. I'm one to overlook mistakes in books, since no one, even an editor, is perfect, but this was ridiculous. It surprises me that this book has so many 5-star reviews for that very reason. There are also way too many exclamation marks, which get a bit distracting and make me hate the fact that the character's voice in my head keeps yelling. I just wanted to reach into the book, shake her, and tell her to hush.
The next problem I had was the plot. Usually, by 10% or so into the story, you have an idea as to what's going on, who the characters are, and look forward to the plot unfolding. That doesn't happen for me in this one at all. It starts out with a quick prologue, which kind of explains who the protagonist is, and then jumps right into a sex scene with someone she doesn't even know who just saved her from being raped in an alley by two guys who'd followed her out of a bar. In the prologue, I didn't notice any accent with her, but come chapter one, she is full-blown Scottish with a heavy accent, which threw me off. Aside from that, what threw me off even more is why she'd get it on with some guy she doesn't even know. I mean, one minute she's almost raped and this stranger shows up and kills her rapist, then she passes out, only to wake up in his bed, and then they go at it. Not a good first impression or intro to a story.
I can't stand books that rely on sex to enhance the plot instead of an actually good story-line, and to me, this is one of those types of books. When a sex scene is thrown in before the story even begins, and it's between two complete strangers, not an actual couple or even acquaintances, just random sex, I'm done.
This book has several 5-star reviews, so you may want to read some of those, as well, before you decide whether or not you want to read/give up on this book. They liked it, so you might enjoy it, too, I just know I sure didn't... at least what I read of it.
What a naughty Vampire, the way Kyle treats Sabrina to passion and sensuality is arousing to say the least.
He is on a mission to seduce, but finds himself seduced instead. Now he wants to keep her for all eternity Will he succeed, will Sabrina fall victim to his seduction?
Kept me enthralled and I can't wait to start book #2 right now...
This is a great way to read the first book is free. I enjoy Ms. Michaels Scottish twist to her series.
Sabrina got herself into trouble when she was undercover, running to Vegas to lick her wounds, drowning her sorrows in a pub, she gets trapped in an alleyway but Kyle rescues her. Kyle feels something that he's never felt before... attraction. And he's not letting Sabrina go until he figures it out. I'm reading book 2now It's available in a box set too. And it's cheaper to get that if you want all 3.
Book: Sabrina’s Vampire – Sabrina’s Vampire #1 Author: A K Michaels Publication Date: 11/30/2013 Reviewed by: Tammy Payne- Book Nook Nuts My Rating: 4 Stars
REVIEW Sabrina was drunk when she left the bar and took a wrong turn. Two men cornered her in an alley and she had no idea what to do. Kyle was out just doing what he needed to do when he heard two men about to take a woman without her permission. Kyle was drawn to her because of her Scottish accent.
Kyle was not sure why he felt how he felt towards Sabrina but he was damn determined to find out. Sabrina is afraid of him can he get her to accept him?
Things move pretty fast between these two but they are pulled together by something neither knows. Kyle decides to call his maker and find out and is shocked at what he is told.
This is a very HOT vampire short story. I enjoyed it very much so.
The book could use some more editing but its nothing that takes away from this super hot erotic story. A.K. Michaels
This is a quick and sinful paranormal BDSM romance and series opener, which is set in Las Vegas. It opens in Scotland, however, where Sabrina is being reprimanded after her first undercover assignment, which leads to her suspension and likely termination. She decides to take a trip while the investigation of her unlawful activities proceeds, and catches a flight to the one place she's always wanted to visit...Las Vegas. Arriving on St Patrick's Day, she passes for Irish and everyone buys her drinks, which too late she realizes isn't necessarily a good thing. Kyle has finished with his dinner and is heading out when he hears a woman's cries for help from a nearby alley. He doesn't usually get involved, but something draws him to her. And after dispatching the two drunks who attacked her, he does something else he doesn't usually do, in fact has never done. He takes a woman home to his house, a drunk, unconscious woman.
Sabrina is suspended from the police force after having an affair with a suspect. Pending an investigation, she decides to go to Las Vegas for a vacation. While there, she gets into trouble and is rescued by Kyle in a dark alley. He takes her to his place. She is unlike anyone he has previously met. She feels the same about him. It has only been a few days. Could they be in love?
I enjoyed this story. I did not know it was the beginning of a series. You can end it here because it is a happy ending, but I want to know more. I liked Sabrina and Kyle. She is smart and figures out what Kyle is. He has to call his Sire to figure out why he feels this way and why certain things are happening. I found it interesting. But he is holding secrets. Now I need to know how he tells her. I look forward to more of the series.
This is another book i grabbed for free on Amazon Kindle books. Once again, i didn’t read the synopsis of the book. I love vampire books and as I’ve said before, even tho i didn’t know at the time before reading this book, i simply love erotica stories also, and boy what a perfect blend. This is a review for the first book of the Sabrina’s Vampire series.
Sabrina’s Vampire will leave you hot and bothered with a need of animalistic sex and a desire to be bitten while doing so. And of course, want to jump right in book 2 of the series. I’ve read a sample of Sabrina’s Vampire: Assassin (book 2), and if i could afford this one and the 3rd book, i’d get them right now.
Suspended from the Police force and humiliated, Sabrina needs to get away for a while. She decides to travel to Vegas to take her mind off things. On arrival, she goes out for a drink and ends up drunk. She leaves the bar and is cornered in an alley by two scumbags...
By chance, Kyle a very old and powerful vampire, hears her scream. He is dawn to her voice and disposes with both men very easily. She passes out and he takes her home to recover. Something he has never done before....
Sabrina can't bring her self to leave Kyle. Why is she so attracted to this sexy vampire?
Wow!! One steamy hot read. Can't wait to read more :)
Sabrina by A. K. Michaels is a book full of sensuous situations between a vampire named Kyle and his human mate Sabrina. This book is so sexy and hot it kept me on the edge of my seat turning page after page while reading it. The love story between these two is a wonderful read that any romance reader will love. This book has all the things a great book should including wonderful characters, great world building, and a spicy romance. This story will definitely have you turning the pages as fast as you can read them. This is one of the best vampire paranormal romances I have ever read. Sabrina is an unforgettable and enchanting vampire love story!
There is no actual story here. Nothing. It’s just a vampire fantasy. The dialogue is just awful. So cheesy and unrealistic. The word ‘very’ & exclamation marks were overused. Whenever the author wanted to expand, or exaggerate on something it was ‘very’..., like she couldn’t find alternative words & almost every line spoken by Kyle ended in a exclamation mark. However, one positive thing I will say for this book is that it made me laugh out loud more than a few time, I just don’t think that was the response the author was going for.
I enjoy paranormal romance, and this story was ok. It was a bit remedial. Lots of grammar errors that were hard to get by. The summary mentioned that the author was a best seller. I find that very hard to believe. The book was not polished at all. I felt like I was reading a story that a young teen attempted to write. With some restructuring and editing it could have been better. I am just glad I didn't have to buy it.
This I highly recommend it . It's a love between two wayward souls who don't know they need each .Sabrina is running from something and Kyle is looking for a purpose .It's soo not twilight and I love it .Read this book if you love passion and paranormal tales. Wow .Thank You A K Michaels it was no too much or too little just like the little bear in goldilocks his was just RIGHT.And not the porridge.
Sabrina is shamed by a career gone wrong and escapes to Las Vegas. After too many drinks, she finds herself stalk by undesirables. A vampire comes to her rescue and takes her home. From here on out, this story is loaded with STEAM, STEAM, and more STEAM! Wondering what her vampire would do next will keep you turning the pages and offers a surprise at the end.
This book got five stars. AK Michaels did it again. She took a vampire love story and told it in a totally different way. The hit sizzling sex seems between Kyle and Sabrina were out of this world. The sexy vampire that gets his mate the cop that had a life changing experience meet and fireworks start. This is a book you won't want to put down. Can't wait to start the next book.
now i am hooked. This was such a great, easy and creative book. i was hooked after the first page.
The characters were easy to fall in love with and follow, along with the story. the author made the mental visions so easy and vivid of the surroundings and the characters actions felt so real.
i would highly recommend this author and this book.
If you like Vampires and Erotic stories than this is the book for you. The book also has some humor mixed in Kyle is sexy and hot , everything you could want in a vampire. Sabrina is a modern day damsel who is forced to leave her dream job behind after getting over involved in a job that backfired.
Kyle the sexy vampire saves Sabrina, so heroic! The sexiness and erotica of this book was very well thought out and damn right hot! I would recommend this book to 21 years old and above. The only thing so disliked was I wish there was more of a story plot; however, I know book 2 is gonna be more story plot, with action I hope! Definitely more erotica in it!
DNF @ 19%. I know it’s a supernatural romance so there’s going to be insta-lust but this was just too much too fast like they didn’t even know each other’s names. The worst part and final straw was Kyle saying he would use his ‘vampire charm’ to make Sabrina sleep with him which was so disgusting. He was no different than those guys in the alley.
This is my first read by A K Michaels and I was glad that I took the time to read it. This was a good book although I wish the author would have made the story a bit longer. Can't wait to see what is in store for the couple in future books.
We had a break from free e-books last week so it means I'm strong enough to face whatever they bring again. I hope. My misery is usually short because as I've already mentioned in one of my previous posts, they never give you the whole book for free. It's either just an introduction (in that case I'm not even bothering to write a review because I'm so mad after reading a couple of chapters only to find out I got nowhere in the story and must buy the rest in order to find out more - not mentioning such pieces is my strategy then) or a first part of many. It wouldn't stand a chance of being published in the real world. But apparently anything is possible online, so... This week brings us yet another very plotless and rather explicit piece (mental note to self - find out if all free stuff is for horny adults). If this kind of literature is your forte, then go on my friend, there is a plenty of that. But if you are more into plots and twists and some deeper meaning you'll be disappointed. I'm not sure I want to elaborate on how stupid the characters act (given the fact that some of them are detectives and should know better or given the fact that the relationship which started so fast is very unbalanced since only one party can read the other's mind and so on). You get to know something about the vampires and how their world works though there is nothing we wouldn't have seen before and I'm quite tired of reading about how when you find your destined mate you can just bang your way into eternity. Just like I said, don't expect much except the hot scenes for which you will probably love it.
This is a vampire love story, told differently from what you might be used too. I liked it, even with its differences and hope you will enjoy it too. Lol sorry no spoilers.
A DNF is not normal for this author but I couldn’t get past Sabrina’s actions that got her dismissed from the police force. Then she gets roaring drunk in a strange place and ends up about to be raped in an alley. Stupidity is not what I want to read about.
Absolutely loved this book and would thoroughly recommend it to all readers who enjoy great romantic tales. Kyle has no idea why the woman he rescued Sabrina affects him but she seems to feel the same way. I am sure that readers will love following their journey.
I don’t mind spicy scenes but pretty much that is all this book was about. As I usually like a good story with some build up, angst, and spice mixed in this book just isn’t for me.
I finished the first chapter. Girl wanders into a dark ally, almost gets raped, is rescued...when she wakes up after passing out she says "you've got green eyes". And I had enough.
