Two sassy girls. Two billionaire British brothers. One beautiful city of culture, history.
And love.

KINGSLEY
Tall, handsome, rich, and British.
I thought I had it all as the bachelor son of one of England’s ancient
aristocratic families. The girls. The parties. The money. The power.
But that was until I spent a semester at an American high school.
That was until I met her.

SCARLETT
That bad boy Brit, Kingsley Heath-Harding, broke my heart, but that was a long time ago in high school.
He fled back to the UK, and I thought I would never see him again.
As if I would ever let myself be vulnerable like that again, right? Especially with a man. Heaven forbid.
Nope. No way. King was outta my life for good when he ran away back home.
I was just a girl when I got my heart torn up, but now - four years on - I’m an independent young woman embarking on a big adventure moving to
the city of my dreams.
London.
I want to experience it all. The theatre. The culture. The history.
But then he reappears. That ghost from the past. Ready to break my heart again.
My very own British billionaire bad boy turning back up with all that smooth charm and killer accent.
But will I let him have me? Does he deserve a second chance?
Is it too late to love again?

🙈🙈

I was approached by Rebeca to write an ARC review on this new duet, so the following feedback is me being honest and concise.

The storyline was great, an Englishman, Kingsly going to the USA to complete his education at high school and then get back to England to pursue his life. He meets Scarlett on the first day of school and things are pretty promising....liking what he sees.

Scarlett is this wallflower that is naturally beautiful, loves books, the theatre, and anything English. She cant wait to travel to London and pursue her life in the theatre. When she meets Kingsly, she cant believe he is talking to her with his drop-dead gorgeous face, body, and that accent.

Sadly once they connected and came together, I lost interest. The reason was that there was no tension, no push and pull and I had to read their first scene together a few times because I thought I missed something. Scarlett fell in love with Kingsly after a few hours together and she was heartbroken for years. It just felt like their story needed more and it felt rushed. There was no connection btw me as the reader and the characters and after that, I skimmed till 61% and stopped.

Sadly, it just wasn't for me.

King is the first installment in the London Boys duet. It is the perfect small town America meets rich aristocratic London love story, full of steam, twists and swoony moments. There are many elements in the book that I resonate with, particularly Scarlett’s love for English literature and her experience of moving countries. I am also a sucker for second chance romance, so I enjoyed the reading the book 🥰

It was love at first sight, when King saw Scarlett on the first day of school. He was instantly captured by her fiery red hair and mesmerising green eyes. The girls at school were obsessed with his good looks and sexy British accent, but he only had eyes for Scarlett. Their common interest in theatre brought them closer together, both physically and emotionally. Scarlett was talented but timid, yet King managed to make her feel at ease. Scarlett was completely heartbroken when their relationship ended abruptly. Four years later, they meet again and King is determined to win her back. He 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐬 her and he knows how to make her happy. One thing for sure, he knows how to please a woman 😈 Personally, I’d love a bit more details to the smut 🤭

I adore the secondary characters, Camilla and Grace. Camilla is King’s nanny but she is so much more than that. She is the mother he never had and she wants the best for him. She encourages him to pursue his passion and that’s how he got to where he is today. And Grace is Scarlett’s biggest supporter. Scarlett’s experience in London wouldn’t be the same without her. Her relationship with King’s brother, Duke, is something I really look forward to reading more about. The book ends on a cliffhanger and I’m dying to know what happens next 👀

You'll love Scarlet and Kingsley (King's) story. He was from England and they met when he attended her high school in the states. He was gorgeous, rich, royal, athletic and he caught the eye of all the girls. But she was the only one who interested him. He thought she was gorgeous and he fell instantly in love. When he left without a word he broke her heart. Fate brings them together four years later when she runs into him in London. The chemistry is still there and he's determined to win her trust back. Drama and suspense when his agent is murdered and his female co-star causes problems. The book ends when a cliffhanger when she's investigating the murder and someone appears from no where. The book is book one in a duo and should be completed in the next book which is about King's brother Duke. The book was well written and had a good flow. The characters are interesting. I read a complimentary advance copy via Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review it.

ARC Review

Spice🌶🌶🌶 Rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is my first read of a book by @rebeccacastle.author

The character development was great. Lots of twists. The cliff hanging has left me wanting more…

They had the potential to be great together…then he was gone.

Scarlett finally makes some changes in her life and follows her dreams!

The adventure is fun, the angst is steamy and there’s still more!

Definitely needs adding to your TBR

I’ve just finished reading this book, and I’m feeling very confused by it.
On the one hand, it was an okay plot, it had the bones to be a good book, but not unless a lot more work was done on it, the writing style is very difficult to engage with and if I’m honest it felt a little childlike, almost as if the sex scenes were written by someone who has never actually experienced this themselves, but learned everything from badly written novels and I have to say were pretty awful.

The main characters were king and Scarlett, I won’t go on about the basic story as a lot of reviewers have already done this, but Scarlett, where do I start, she was described as strong, I saw nothing strong about her, she was ready to give up the second she found she couldn’t easily get a job and somewhere to live, and as for that, who suddenly gets on a plane, comes to England and then goes looking for work? With no mention of work permits, immigration etc, I know books need a certain amount of our imagination to be used, but she was on a one way ticket to deportation, the time line was pretty unbelievable, Scarlett meets king and two days later they are fumbling around in her bedroom, he leaves the next day and she’s heartbroken???? There were no deep and meaningful happenings to cement a “love” that scarred her for years to come. All in all, Scarlett needed to have been given a better backbone, but to then suddenly go and act totally against the nature she’s had all through the book, and unbelievably be able to slip into a locked theatre to “investigate” the murder for herself lol how totally silly was this.

King, well he was overbearing egotistical slightly even narcissistic, he doesn’t come across as loving, he comes across as someone who would stamp his feet if he didn’t get what he deemed was his, he wanted to domineer her from the moment he saw her again, she was his, he was in control, he was going to be the one decide how their sex life went etc etc etc…. Not very engaging when you also see his descriptions of sleeping with loads of women, and chucking them out the second he’d finished with them, usually just after he’d literally finished with them, yet, he supposed to have had this burning yen for Scarlett, not likely.

Just when you think the novel is grinding to a halt, there’s suddenly this mad person who wants to hurt them both, suddenly out of nowhere hates the two of them for what? For being together, it’s like oh I better put something to boost the story as I’m running out of ideas, it was so out of the blue it left me confused almost like a tack on…

The Editing leaves a lot to be desired, The amount of wrong words used grates on my nerves, and sometimes there were phrases that just didn’t seem to fit in a book about London England, the English characters would never use the words in some phrases, and why when people who do not come from England write about this country, only seem to mention the main tourist attractions, or fish and chip shops, I don’t know, there are of course great researchers who write wonderful books, but this feels like the writer took a quick Google of London and hey presto we’re supposed to believe.

Maybe an Australian, writing about an American, living in London is why the book feels so confusing, I wonder if as the author says she loves travelling the world, has she ever been here, there’s so much more to us than seen in these pages.

Finally as I said before, the basic second chance story could have been good, with better character development, more research, and less throwing things in to prop up a failing storyline, I’m sorry, I don’t think I have the heart to find out what happened next by buying the next book.

ok read

I know there is lust & love at first sight but I found Scarlett too childish to be broken hearted after one night together, their relationship was really rushed and one night at the beginning for her to still be broken hearted 4 years later.
Personally the author should have had them together for at least a few months with a fiery passion that exploded on the pages and was all consuming for me to believe that King leaving would break her heart the way it did.
Then if she was so broken hearted about him why did she forgive him so easily?
Scarlett came across as a weak walk over and not a strong female lead she acted quite childlike even at 22 years old and King came across as arrogant when we hear his thoughts when he sees her again and onwards.
The sex scenes come across an immature with the words used and not what I would expect from an alpha male with King’s confidence and experience.
I honestly believe the author had a really good story to tell here but rushed their relationship at the beginning and then rushed their getting back together.
I would rather read a book with 500 pages if it means we have a great story that flows well.

I absolutely love Grace she is so crazy funny we all need an instant friend like her, if it wasn’t for Grace and the ending in book one I don’t think I would have downloaded the second book but I’m really wanting to see her story with Duke.

I adored Camilla she was straight to the point and a little blunt but in a great no nonsense way she was a good addition.

The person after them ( killer) I’m not sure why they are in it but it’s annoying you didn’t end the book with who it is and drag it in to Duke’s book that’s not cool.
I’m also not 100% sure why this killer is in it whoever they are but there could have easily been so much more drama with Penelope than bring a killer in and why Ben? What did that achieve ?
Let’s see what we find in Duke & Grace’s book.

Nope.

The premise was good enough, I wanted to like it. Trouble is, this story is so lacking in details and has such huge errors and holes in the plot that I cannot say I'd recommend it, in fact DNF. To top it all off the female lead is a desperate and pathetic character who becomes a doormat for the overly arrogant and completely unworthy male lead.

Besides, seriously, the timeline is ridiculous: who falls for a guy and has sex with him and is THAT in love after knowing him two days and only having two, minutes-long conversations before the initial sexual encounter that signals the start of their love affair, and which ends as soon as he leaves her home minutes after they finish having sex? Then the female lead gets to London, finds a job, a best friend, AND the long-lost man in two days. You ARE kidding, right? And this is where the author makes one of the plot errors, in having the character say this has happened within a few days, when her main character admits only pages previously that she only arrived the day before (pg 97). There are so many details missing, so much action that is just not there, on top of errors, lack of conceptual thought, and the utter desperately pathetic doormat the female lead is, and the author's audacity of calling her fiesty or saying she puts up a fight (for what a nanosecond?).

To be honest there was not enough plot or character development for me to really care about the connection the lead characters were supposed to have. I just found Scarlett so desperate for male attention that she became inept and unable to function in even the most basic ways. I found her ultimately extremely unlikable and too pathetic for me to admire or for me to want her to win. The male lead was so insufferably arrogant and full of himself I just thought he was gross. Enough said just, nope.

Kingsley meets Scarlett on his first day of high school in America. He is the athletic, good looking, British accent new guy that all the girls are swooning over. Where, Scarlett is the girl who would just rather be in the shadows with dreams of theater. She hears the popular girls talking about King and decides it is best to keep far away from him, however; King has other plans as he has his eyes set on Scarlett. Yet, plans don’t always go the way we want, and King ends up leaving the high school and these two lose everything that they had. Enter 4 years later with them both now in London will they be able to pick up where they left off all those year ago?

The secondary characters which include Camille who is King and Duke’s nanny and Grace who is Scarlett’s friend in London you are in for some laughs, but also some truly amazing twists and turns. Ms. Castle keeps the book moving perfectly allowing the characters to grow and mature as the pages continue to turn. Scarlett appears in the beginning to be weak but we find that she is just trying to stay on a path to get to her dream theater in London. She works hard and is heart broken when things end with King so quickly and he is gone. When they reconnect, you can feel how hesitant she is to allow him back in knowing what he can do to her heart.

I love that there is a connection between them that continues to grow and not only is the chemistry is strong, they both truly want each other no matter what. His protection of Scarlett is such an alpha male, but it is out of love for her. I can’t wait to see how Grace and Duke’s story rolls out as you know it is going to be equally amazing as King and Scarlett. Oh and let’s just say, that cliffhanger… oh goodness. Ready for Duke’s book!

Engaging, charming story. 4*
Scarlett and Kingsley are poles apart socially, geographically, and financially but their chemistry is off the charts even at 18. Their brief encounter is just that, very brief, as Kingsley is called back to England right after their first intimate evening together. 4 years later, Scarlett gives in to her desire to live in London and through a series of amazing chance events, they meet again. I will leave other readers to read the book, instead of doing another synopsis that the author had already done. The novel is charming, yet never dripping with romance. Both protagonists are individual characters, honest, with their respective issues but their meetings are never boring, always dipped in a dose of realism, yet allow for their hearts desires to overcome societal issues. The book is very entertaining, easy to read and the place descriptions in London are easily imaginable, adding an extra dimension to the book. As well as being a romance, the book has an element of a thriller, that is left hanging in the end. I personally like to see the bad guy get his/her just punishment, so I am assuming there will be a sequel to this book, but the author hadn't made a mention of this at the end of the book. As far as their romantic future is concerned, the book ends on an HFN. In spite of the cliffhanger, I am happy to recommend this novel.

First,I’d like to thank Rebecca Castle for sending me a copy of King (and Duke)
I was wondering whether I should give 4⭐️ or 5⭐️.It definitely deserves the latter but it has a cliffhanger(I do NOT like cliffhangers😄it makes me anxious 😄)
But let’s not jump that far ahead.
(BTW I’m not going to be selfish so I give 5⭐️🥰)

I’m pretty sure you will love this book as much as I did.If you also like English literature you will definitely relate to the characters.
I always loved books where the main characters meet as teenagers and that’s exactly what happens. Scarlet (ordinary American girl) and Kingsley (British billionaire) meet in high school,in a small town in America. Before they can get to know each other something pulls them apart (you’ll find out what, once you read the book😉)
4 years later faith brings them together and they finally have a chance to fall in love
But you always have to fight for love, don’t you? It’s not going to be different for Scarlet and Kingsley either. And that’s where the cliffhanger comes in.I’m not going to say more as I’d say too much BUT what I can tell you is that you will absolutely love this book and it will definitely leave you wanting more!

Scarlett and Kingsley met at high school. He's a British aristocrat who only attended Scarlett's small town American school long enough to break her heart. Now she's in London years later, it's her first day at her new theatre job, and it's Kingsley on stage. His co-star Penelope is jealous and a bit vicious, her new flatmate Grace is a hoot, and there is a murderer running around. Regarding the relationship, King and Scarlett get their happy end, but the murder doesn't get solved here. Scarlett does something stupid and the book ends in a cliffhanger that I am assuming gets resolved in Duke and Grace's book. It's an entertaining read and I enjoyed this story enough to want to read the second book. It's well edited and the dialogue flows well.

Just wondering why the theatre manager Giles needed Scarlett to introduce him to Kingsley? Wouldn't they have run into each other at some point during the rehearsals? If he's so starstruck he'd have made a point to be there and welcome the cast of the play.

King by Rebecca Castle is such a good second chance romance. I adore it for that, and the fact that I can relate to it so well. I’m an American who fell for an Englishman, finding out the culture differences, just like our main characters.

Scarlett comes from a small town in America. Kingsley is the posh Englishman, and the two quickly fall for each other at 18. Long story short, Scarlett’s heart is broken with the abrupt end of a whirlwind romance. Fast forward 4 years and they meet again. That swoon-worthy second chance. They were so cute together at the beginning of the story, and downright delicious older and more mature.

As they’re rekindling their relationship, they have a few obstacles to get through. Doubt from family and colleagues. Self-doubt on Scarlett’s part that she’s doing the right thing. A mystery involving someone trying to drive them apart. This book ends with a cliffhanger, but also a HEA? Book two is about King’s brother, Duke, and Scarlett’s flatmate, Grace. You won’t have to wait for long to read it and see how the mystery pans out!

I would first off like to thank the author for sending me a copy of this book. Thank you Rebecca Castle

Kingsley (King) and Scarlet story will leave you sitting on the edge of your chair wanting more. It was such a good story and I had so much fun reading it. If you are a fan of romance and mystery you would love this book. Getting to see how King and Scarlet meet for the first time was sweet. Something happens that causes the two not to see each other again until a couple of years later. And I will leave you to read the story to find out what happens next. I gave this book 5/5 stars because it deserves it and I loved it. Rebecca Castle is such an amazing author I have read her work before and she is amazing at storytelling and I recommend checking out her work and this great story out!

Book: King, London Boys Book 1
Author: Rebecca Castle
☆☆☆☆

This was my first book by this author and I really enjoyed the story, plot, characters and chemistry.

We meet Kinglsey & Scarlett in high school the new boy British, charming and handsome and the wholesome Jane Austen loving American girl.

They have an insta love connection then everything changes one night.  Fast forward 4 years and we meet them again after Scarlett decides to chase her dream and love to London.

When these to meet again the chemistry is off the walls hot but will Scarlett let him back in? A tradegy for Kingston and a mysterious person trying to spilt them apart adds a good element of mystery.

I loved Scarletts character development and the cliff hanger ....

Review for book 2 Duke coming soon.

Thanks for the chance to review!

3.5

Kingsley (British Heir) meets Scarlett (Small town American girl) while he is in the States briefly for college. Fast forward four years...

King and Scarlett have an instant chemistry even though their only interaction was very brief it left them both with a lasting impression of the other. I would most definitely consider this a slow burn, there isn't much steam in this book (which is totally fine) it has exactly what it needed.

This story has good bones, the plot and characters are great but I really struggled with the writing style. There was so much repetition I caught myself skimming because I just couldn't get into it. There is some drama in the mix however it sort of just showed up, there wasn't any real rhyme or reason, I will be moving on to book 2 in the story to get the rest of the story.

King starts the London Boys Series by RebeccaCastle releases on October 22.

This is so much more than boy meets girl in small town America! King’s family obligation pulls him away from Scarlett before their budding relationship has a chance. 4 years later, Scarlett is now living her dreams of theater in London however, her role is not on the stage. A twist of fate brings King and Scarlett together again. A second chance to right their wrongs.

The plot is a slow burn meets mystery suspense, don’t worry Castle gives us a dash of spice! Expect a hilarious sisterhood between Scarlett and her new flat mate, Grace! You’ll absolutely fall in love with their bond.

Full disclosure there is a cliffhanger which will conclude in book 2, Duke, releases on November 5!

My actual rating of this book is 4.5 ⭐️
Spice: 🌶🌶🌶

Wow. I was not expecting the twist in this book! Oh my gosh, wow!!

First Grace and Scarlett are amazing. I absolutely love them as BFF’s. Grace reminds me of my friends who love true crime and I’m totally Scarlett, not really into it but hey I’ll always be down for wine and hanging out.
Truly their friendship is so awesome from the start and I can’t wait to see how it progresses.

Now for King. My goodness, he is everything. He knows what he wants and he goes for it.
“I want to make you feel many things, Scarlett. Most of them too dirty to say out loud in a fancy bar.”

The ending too, oh my gosh 😱

King and Scarlett met each other when he came to the states to attend school. They have chemistry together and they have a brief relationship that ends when he goes back to England but neither one forgot the other. Four years later Scarlett is moving to London the city of her dreams the only problem is he's there and wants to pickup where they left off. Is that even possible? Can she trust him with her heart? You need to read this book to see what happens and I can't wait for the next book to see where the story goes.

Okay, I wasn't sure what I was getting into when I started reading but oh my gosh. I got hit with all the feels as I read King and Scarlett's story. Meeting your ex again, four years after a sudden and unexpected break up, only to realize you've both still got the feelings. I loved this and was super excited to see King fight for another chance with Scarlett who did not want to give him a try. It was an emotional roller coaster from start to end. I am very excited to read the second book as there is a cliff hanger at the end of King's story.

Poor editing in places but I loved this book from start to finish. I couldn't put it down. I have a theory that the usher at the theater who was supposed to show Scarlet the ropes could be the murderer. Her or possibly King's brother Duke. I hope I'm wrong with the second theory as after growing up without a mother a betrayal like that by his brother would be devastating. Having loved & lost Grace due to the politics of their aristocratic life is Duke jealous & angry at King's defiance to do the same?...

Once again Rebecca delivers a fabulous binge-worthy romance read. I really enjoyed King. It kept me guessing the whole way through, with the underlining suspense plot mixed in with the sweet, and a little bit spicy romance. Kingsley (swoon because that name just gets me) was the perfect bad boy alpha, with a bit of possessive, but not the typical rich boy as he pursued other things in life. The chemistry between King and Scarlett was dynamic and real, and I loved them together. I'm definitely looking forward to diving more into the second book of this series.
Another great book by Rebecca. If you haven't read her books then get on it.
I received an arc of this book from the author for a voluntary review. This in no way swayed my opinion of the book.
