He was the new bad boy next door. And the bane of my existence. The boy with the scar on his lip. The loner who did what he wanted, when he wanted. The beautiful boy who drunkenly kissed me one night outside my bedroom window.
I hated Miles Hunter until we started swapping letters.
He showed me his true side. He protected me when I needed him most. And I thought he loved me.
But then he left. Like a ghost. Without a word. Without a letter. Like he never existed.
Rebecca has had the storytelling bug since... forever!
What Rebecca likes most is writing steamy hot filthy romances with sweet happy endings sprinkled with some delicious bad boys.
Born and raised in an Aussie coastal town, she loves travelling around the world - meeting new people and discovering their stories. Aside from adventuring she also enjoys a good rainy day in with a good book or at a hot beach catching the sun. She’s a world-class napping professional. You’ll most likely find her asleep snuggled up on a sofa somewhere cozy.
4.5 Stars! A beautiful, passionate and at times, heart-breaking book. Loved it!
Abby - she's counting down the weeks till graduation, when she can finally escape with her sister from her drug using and alcoholic mother and step-dad. Every single penny she makes from her afterschool jobs go towards her sister's medical bills. When the mysterious new bad boy neighbour (and his dad) brushes off her introduction to the neighbourhood, she's less than impressed. So she's not happy to see him then turns up in her class the next day! Will he end up being her worst nightmare or knight in shining armour? And why did he just disappear?
Miles - the son of a strict drill sergeant type military dad. After a recent fight, he knows this move is his last chance before he's forced to enlist into the army. That doesn't stop him from being drawn to the sweet yet fiery girl next door he's been told to stay away from by his dad. However he makes it his mission to get Abby to want him, but how? And what happens when he's forced to protect her when she needs it most?
I liked how this book was split over two parts, the first focusing on their initial meeting and high school and the second on the present day (4 years later). Some books have lots of flashbacks between each chapter, which can sometimes be a bit jarring and take you out of being fully immersed into the story. Part 1 was sweet to watch their journey together, until a dramatic final night. Then part 2 unlocks the reasons for their heartache over the last 4 years.
I was provided an ARC for my honest review on this book.
For the most part i enjoyed it. The book was sweet and relatable to my teen years. However, the book felt repetitive to me. Part 2 was basically part 1 just 4 years apart with a few extra details. It felt rushed. I wish we'd gotten to know Miles and Abby more as a couple. As individuals Miles had just the right amount of emotional turmoil to make him a "come to mama" hottie. His finally standing up for himself brought the biggest smile to my face and i internally fist punched the air. Abby had so much on her plate i'm surprised she had the willpower to get up every morning! She really stepped up into responsibilities that were never supposed to be hers. I might be a perv, but i wish we'd had gotten more sexy times!! Don't get me wrong the ones we had were just up my ally but were only enough to whet my perverted soul's appetite.
Dear Neighbor, you were a pleasure to read just wish you'd slowed your pace and allowed the reader to enjoy more detail. But i would still recommend this book to anyone looking for a mildly angsty read with a twist of sweet and sexy.
The premise of this book was so unique and fun to read. Adding letters that they write to each other was a great way to switch up the neighbor trope and I loved it. Miles and Abby are such a great couple to read about and watch them fall in love. They both had such horrible pasts and childhoods but through that they found each other.
Abby and Miles are next door neighbors. When Miles moves next door, Abby is less than impressed with him. He works his charm on her through letters, flirting and the sweetest kiss. I loved following their journey even when we get to the heartbreak of abandonment. Part two of this book picks up four years later. Four years that these two haven’t spoken or seen each other. Miles becomes her neighbor again and we start to get answers. Answers that you won’t expect!! Answers that will make you believe in these two again. Check out their story! It’s a really good one! Also enjoy the neighbor letters because they are so sweet and no one appreciates the beauty of a well written letter anymore!

What a sweet story of love and how it can endure challenges and time apart! This was such a good book about two teenagers, Abby and Miles, who had an instant connection and fell hard and fast for one another, not knowing what was waiting for them in the future. It was a story of second chances and how people change and grow but still hold true their feelings for the ones they love! The only thing I wish I had more from in their story were the letters and background of their time apart. I wanted to be able to read all the letters he said he wrote her that she never received. And I wish we could have known just a little of what Abby had endured during those 4 years of time apart caring for her sister and becoming the responsible adult she was forced to be at such a young age. I am always a stickler for the details and I’m always wanting more of the live stories! Overall, I would definitely recommend this book to a friend for a sweet and quick read!
Abby is having to grow up fast. She has to take care of her little sister because her mom and stepdad do not care enough, work a job to make money for her sister's medicine and graduate high school in a couple of weeks. All Abby cares about is her sister and getting out of her parents house. This all changes when Miles moves in next door. Miles has the James Dean vibe and Abby knows she has to stay away from him.
Pretty soon Abby and Miles form a flirty friendship. Miles has never been attracted to anyone like Abby, and Abby is starting to see Miles for who he really is. The minute they get together, Miles disappears. He reappears 4 years later ready to make Abby his.
Overall this was a good story. I really enjoyed the back and forth with the first half of the book. It was a slow burn, but it was not that slow. Abby was not afraid to call him out and tell him the truth.
I wish the second half of the back had more. It would have been nice to read more about them as a couple. I felt the second half of the book was rushed and the minute they get together, the book is over.
I enjoyed this book. It was a cute read with a touch of steam, but I found the pacing a little off as it seemed very insta love and then we lost a whole four years before the second part. Because of this, I didn't feel the connection and chemistry between the characters that I was hoping for with the idea of the story. I loved both characters and their backstory's which were weaved into the story well. I would've liked the author to actually say what the sisters' medical condition was as this was left to guessing. I have an idea from what happened in the story but this detail would have helped me connect with that part of the story as well. I also found myself skimming some parts that were too wordy and they didn't add to the story. This book is a quick feel good read and is more ya than the authors' previous books. My younger self would've devoured this. Still a good read from the author. I look forward to more books from her in the future. Dear Neighbor is a story of young love, sacrifice, abandonment and a second chance at love.
Abby Starr is a caring sister and hard worker who becomes interested in the mysterious boy next door. Miles is an Army brat who seems to be the bad boy that Abby wants to avoid. However, their attraction to each other and chemistry keeps pulling them together. Miles helps Abby in several occasions and just when Abby sees a future with him, Miles disappears without a word. Years later, Miles and Abby find each other again and must get past the mistakes and misunderstandings in order to move forward. Forgiveness is a bit hard for Abby to do and I found her character a bit annoying but she had her reasons. Overall, Miles and Abby's love story is sweet and a great read.
We were sent over this lovely book to read by Rebecca recently and it was such a beautiful read I couldn’t put it down from the minute I picked it up.
A young 18-year-old girl Abby living a hard life has a bit of excitement when a new neighbour moves in next door a mysterious Miles.
Abby and Miles at first don't seem to get along as Abby pushes him away as she thinks he is too arrogant, but deep down she finds h very attractive. Miles however finds Abby extremely alluring and attractive and makes it his mission to get her to kiss him.
Time passes and turns of events take place leading to Miles and Abby being separated but then coming together again. This is such a lovely story one that I really enjoyed reading and would encourage people to go and have a read of.
**Full 3.5 ⭐** This was my first book by this author. The book had so many ideas I've read before BUT the spin this author put on it was perfect. We meet Miles when he moves across from Abby a few weeks shy of high-school graduation. Both of them have hard home lives and the miscommunication when they first meet creates an intrigue that constantly builds. It's a young love built on hard times, I kept constantly rooting for them both. The intimacy was where it disconnected for me, it was choppy and was lacking something. I was a bit disappointed when the book jumps forward, it seemed to miss so much info and let us fill it in with a letter. Overall I enjoyed the book.
Abby was looking forward to graduation so that she and her younger sister can escape from her stepdad and mum, both drug addict and alcoholic. And then Miles moved into her neighbour , she was smitten by him and they both fall in love quickly. One last chance warning from his military dad to not get into trouble, Miles did it to save Abby. Next thing, Miles disappeared. Abby moved on and out into the city. Fast forward 4 years, Abby was surprised to see Miles in her neighbour apartment, moving in. Will Abby finally got the answers to her questions? *** This book is a wonderful read. With what Abby and Miles went through separately, to finding each other again, finding love again. A must read for all romance lovers. *I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review*
I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. Abby and Miles meet when he moves there in high school. These two have different sets of baggage but end up bonding over hard lives. The book takes you to years later when they meet back up. It bounces around a bit which can be confusing at times. They have a special love that has lasted. You do not learn a lot of detail about their lives while apart. The letters were a sweet touch. Their lives can begin again together.

Thank you once again to Rebecca Castle for giving me an ARC of your book to read and review.
I had so much fun reading this book!. This book gave me summer vibes, the reading in the park laying on the grass type of vibes. The story starts off when Abby notices a new family moving into the house right across from her and this new neighbor, this boy, and his family has caught her attention. So she goes over to introduce herself and let`s just say first impressions do not go well. Miles and Abby start to have this enemy to lover thing going on until they start to exchange letters with each other than that kick starts their relationship until one day he leaves and then reappears years later.
Overall, had a fun time with this book and would reread it again in the future. Recommend 100%,Rated 4/5 stars.
This was a story of two young people who had very hard home lives. Abby has a sister on drugs and a mother who is an alcoholic. A bad boy moves in and she is interested but apparently her greeting is not appreciate. She sees him in school but is not sure if they will have any interactions. She already doesn’t like Miles Hunter until they start to get to know each other through letters. She even starts to feel she can count on him. And then he ghosts her.
Four years later he’s back, but will it matter now? Can she forgive him? Does she want to?
I absolutely loved Dear Neighbor by Rebecca Castle. It was well written and I was unable to stop reading until the last page. Abby did what a lot of us do and that was fall for the bad boy. Their first meeting when his family moves in next door doesn't go well with Miles thinking she is stuck and her thinking he couldn't stand her. But slowly they fall into a relationship until Miles disappears with no explanation. Years later he is back but will Abby give him a chance? Definitely recommend!
Reading about the intense feelings in this book. Loyalty, Betrayal, Heartbreak and Destruction I welcomed the trials, of abandonment and fear, the emotional drama and the unexpected events. The misunderstanding and mistakes lead to a bit of wasted time. Connecting with the characters may come easy in this story, following the plot might not be

This is the 2nd book I've read written by Rebecca Castle; I can’t wait to read more of her books.
When Miles moves in across the street from Abby she really doesn’t like him until they start writing letters back and forth but then all at once he’s gone; no calls, no letters, nothing until four years later he comes back into her life.

I loved how this book skipped over boring parts of their day to day lives. It was refreshing to just get to the point, but still have an explanation of what happened in 4 years! I really fell in love with this one! Also how they focused fully on the two main characters. Highly recommend this book!
This book was enjoyable and it was a love story where they both think the other left them and ghosted each other but that wasn’t true. It’s a nice normal love story she looks after her sister who has seizures and after after an attempted assault she moves away with her sister.
Incredible story of strength and passion from rough beginnings. Abby wants to save her and her sister from a terrible home life as soon as she graduates high school. Miles moves in next door 3 weeks before graduation. Sort of a love hate between them, then he is gone. 5 years later he is back in her life. Intense story.
The words that come to mind after reading this book is BEAUTIFUL. An absolute amazing love story between two lost souls that are drawn to each other. Separated for a while but they find their way back. Loved it.
This is a story about romance in a letter giving and receiving. This is a story about a young man and a young woman. This a fabulous story about second chances.
This book was different for me but I really did like it. I loved the neighbors writing letters to each other that made it fun and mysterious . Great read.
This is the first time reading Rebecca Castle and I'm hooked. Abby and Miles story is so good I had a hard time putting it down. Iblove how Miles started writing Abby letters. If you love second chances this book is for you.
When Miles’ family move into the house across the street; Abby, at first, is eager to meet the new boy - even if he does have the whole broody James Dean vibe. First impressions are not these two’s finest moment. Abby thinks he’s too aloof and Miles thinks she’s a bit judgy.
They both have a less than perfect home life. Miles is on his last chance with this move and Abby has parents that have mentally checked out. The only person she cares about is her baby sister.
The two begin a sort of love hate relationship which turns into friendship as they start to write each other letters. Miles is determined to kiss Abby and when he succeeds, they both think that this is the start of a beautiful relationship.
Four years later, Miles has resurfaced. Abby is pissed that he’s turned up out of the blue after disappearing on her. Why did Miles leave all those years ago and can Abby give him a chance to explain?
Great novel by @rebeccacastle.author enjoyed the characters and loved Abby’s strength caring for her sick sister and working her ass off to support them. Miles was a great hero, determined to win Abby back and take care of her.
