In His Father's Son, Luke met and fell in love with Anna twelve years ago, and they had a son together. Luke got to see his son and hold him once before Anna's father talked her into signing adoption papers and forcing Luke out of their lives. Now, Luke has discovered that his son was never placed for adoption, and he wants to meet him and get to know him, and be the father his son wants. Luke has never stopped loving Anna. Anna never tried to get in touch with Luke after he left the hospital. She listened to her father, and decided Luke didn't love her or their son enough to stay. Now, when Luke returns, she can't forgive or forget. When news of Luke's past comes out before he can tell her, she's sure she's made the right decision in sending him away again. However, when Josh's life is on the line, she realizes just how wrong she's been for far longer than twelve years. Now, when she finally realizes that she's let fear control her life, and that the reason she's never been the Christian she's wanted to be is because she doesn't trust God, will it be too late when she realizes that God and Luke are both worthy of her trust??
In His Healing Touch, Lainie and Adam meet when he's a patient after being wounded in war, and she's his nurse. They haven't seen each other in almost a year when she arrives in Sweetapple Falls needing her motorcycle checked out. Adam's cousin, Tom, calls Adam to check the bike out. Adam tells Lainie that the engine needs to be rebuilt, and it could take up to three weeks, as they'll have to send it to CA. Lainie's not sure she can take being in Sweetapple Falls that long, as the town and Adam are stealing her heart. The time with Lainie has Adam looking at his situation differently, and he finally comes to realize that his situation can be better by an attitude adjustment on his part, along with trusting God to bring good out of it. When Lainie leaves, she finally realizes she's just been running away, not just from Adam, but from God, and that she's never really let God have control of her life. She fixes that, and then wonders if it's too late to tell Adam. Lainie comes to learn, it's never too late to run to love, instead of away. God is always there, waiting for us to come to Him, and is always willing to take us back!
In His Radiant Bride, Tom's ex-wife drops their daughter off without any kind of explanation. Tom doesn't mind having Ava, he just doesn't know his daughter as well as he should. Rusty met Tom six months ago, when she arrived in town, and now is trying to help him with his daughter, whom she met when she came to her Sunday school class. Tom has wanted to date Rusty, but Rusty knows she's not good enough. Ava is angry, hurt, and afraid, and at ten is acting out, as she can't process all that has happened. Rusty and Tom hatch a plan to get married to help Ava, though Tom wants it to be a real marriage. Rusty knows she wants the marriage to be real, but she's afraid of being hurt. The closer these two grow, the more they both want the marriage to be real. As the Rusty and Tom both grow to understand more about God's love for them, and the bitterness Tom needs to let go of, and the love Rusty needs to accept from God, the more they both realize they can trust God to give them their desires.
