Light and Dark, we were never meant to work, much less thrive.
I betray him.
He betrays me.
It was always going to end this way. And it did—in a grotesquely spectacular implosion of our lives, of his castle.
So I’ve been on the run from Damen for four years. Four years before he finds me. Captures me. Drags me back to his castle with bloody vengeance searing in his eyes.
He’s still the king of heathens, but just barely. His empire is slipping out of his hands and I’m the reason why.
Now I’m back in the devil’s lair and he’s still obsessed with impregnating me. Still a master of seduction. And I don’t know if I have it in me to deny him, or if I should even try. A king needs a queen, after all…
Empire of Light is the explosive second half of the Creatures of Sin & Seduction duet. It's a dark fantasy romance with forbidden love, steam to make your toes curl, multiple POV, mythological tales and legends, fated mates, amazing powers, morally-grey choices, twists, cliffhangers, a kick-butt heroine, and an I-will-burn-the-earth-to-ash-for-her hero.
It contains mature language, graphic violence, and explicit content. This is the first book in the Creatures of Sin and Seduction duet. Please read at your own discretion.
Riding off the highs of the last one, I'm back. Also, late realisation that this was a spinoff to another series. Yeesh. No wonder I feel like I was missing something.
Anyway. It has been four years since the event in book 1. Can you believe that? Usually I don't like that huge of time jump but considering that these two people are like in their 140-170 years old, I didn't think it was too much of a separation.
However, our male lead didn't think so. Woof. He was mad. Deliciously mad.
I have no idea where this is coming from, but I love their relationship. Despite all their lack of communication and slight misunderstanding, they talk. As much as I hate some of the stupid decisions they made, hell, they talk to each other about it, address them properly and move on, and still in love. Fuck. I want that in my romance.
K.J. Jackson gives us the conclusion of Damen and Ava's story. We left off with Venetia blowing up the world around her as Ada is running away from Damen. We find Damen finally catching up with Ava and that connection they had all those years ago still burning between them. Despite the hate and frustration they both feel, they cannot deny the magnetic pull that still exists. When common enemies threaten what they have been building since the beginning, they must convince both sides to work together before everything is destroyed. As Damen and Ava try to get back to where they were, will the outside world work against them and win? Will they be able to get past everything and have love conquer after all?
K.J. Jackson brings us the second part of the Creatures of Sin & Seduction series. We see how Damen and Ava have fared alone in the world until he finds her again. They need to be able to trust and work together so they can ensure a future for all those they care about. But will they be able to get there especially when those who are against this union are working on destroying them? Will they be able to get those who care about them to work together, or will they be too busy trying to work against each other allowing their enemies to gain an advantage?
I was looking forward to seeing whether or not Ava and Damen would be able to get past everything they learned about each other and how those decisions shaped them. I wanted to see if they could find it in themselves to forgive and move forward, or if the past and the pain it brought was too much for them to try and forge a future together. This author does not disappoint especially with the emotions you feel as you read her stories. You keep wanting to turn the page to see what they do next and where life leads them until you realize that you have reached the end of their journey. I look forward to reading more from this author.
I received and read an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I would like to thank the author for this privilege.
I'm a firm believer that justice prevails. Good always conquers evil. This 2 book story starts with dark and ends with light. It's definitely not what I'm used to from K Jackson. Her historical romance never seems long enough. So this story taking two books was definitely different. This was a cross between a Mafia story or like the Highlander. You can only eliminate the foe by removing the head and stabbing the heart with a certain type of metal. The non humans live a very long life span if they keep their heads, and they function and have a hierarchy like the Mafia. The killing and torture aren't for me, and definitely a BIG change from this author. Yet, the characters and storyline are well rounded, there's no cheating and it ends on a happy note. You don't get a marriage, but it's understood by Damen and Ada's agreement for "this never ends" Enjoy 🤓
I’m a lover of all things mythology, and this book definitely checked that box. Seriously, even if you’re not a fan of mythology, you’d still enjoy this book (I think). It’s full of heart-warming scenes, spicy ones, and the tear-your-heart-into-tiny-pieces scenes. There is a balance between fast and slow paced scenes, so just a warning. I didn’t mind because there was a ton of insight being dropped during the slower paced scenes which made everything all the better once things were revealed.
Because I was already hyped with the previous book, I read this one in a flash.
What I love the mist about this book is the constant and full honesty between the FMC and the MMC. Even though it brings a fragile trust, it’s a start coming from book one’s BBC development and not stopping at all.
I feel there’s more to talk about the book, but I can’t find the words it seems.
By the end, everything gets sorted out but one thing and I really wanted that solved…
Either way, I love the books and would love to read more from this author ♥️

I absolutely love this series. I have said before that these characters are so unique. Each time I read about them I learn something new. After the cliffhanger we were left with, this book couldn't have come out quick enough. Damen and Ada had such amazing chemistry. There was never a dull moment in this story. Another hit for Ms. Jackson. A must read. This is my honest opinion of an advanced copy I received.
This book was filled with too much unnecessary fill in scenery descriptions. There was not enough relationship development between the H and the h. No real closure to their story. I was very disappointed because I have read many books by this author. Plus so much of this was not believable. I don't recommend this series. Ms. Jackson went overboard with the f word, so much so it became disgusting.
Great ending for Ada & Damen. Overall this one was just as intriguing and exciting as the first book however the ending was a bit disappointing. I was actually hoping she’d have had the baby in the ending or in an epilogue. I would definitely reread this series. I’m looking forward to reading more books by this author especially her HR. 4/5

Wasn’t sure I was going to like these books, but I did. Strange people things with powers and other things, not quite my usual genre. Don’t think I’ll read any more
I really could not put this book down! Luckily I started it in a Saturday morning and finished Saturday afternoon. They have such a great live story but the f course it is not smooth.
I'm extremely pleased with this story! I wasn't sure how to feel during the first book because of all of the insanity that kept showing up. However, I love Damen. Ada and Venetia are still amazing. This duet was perfect! I loved every bit of it.
I enjoyed this series! Super spicy! Light read - definitely want to read the series that came before this one that connects the characters. A lot more torture than I thought I liked to read about but good nonetheless!
