I received this book from a Goodreads giveaway and I'm very thankful for the opportunity to read and review this book in this way.

With that being said, I rated this book 2 stars only because I finished it. If it hadn't been a giveaway book, I would have DNF'd it.

The book is about finding solutions that you already have to life's various problems and hurdles. The points made are delivered to the reader through anecdotes that are said to have been personal experiences of the author as well as stories relayed to him. One of the first anecdotes given in the book was a conversation between to coworkers. The way the conversation is portrayed, I thought that it was fictitious. People don't speak that way to each other. As I moved through the book many of the stories also seemed to be works of fiction portrayed as real-life events. Some were even so far-fetched I laughed. Another story has the author recounting helping a school principal with a group of boys who were making trouble and fighting at school. The author tells the principal to tell the boys that "The true victory lies not in reacting but in exercising restraint." He then proceeds to state that the principal addresses the entire student body with this information and "In the ensuing days, a cultural shift seemed to ripple through the school's corridors." I immediately thought, no it didn't. It takes much more time than days to effect a profound cultural change in an entire school. He then states that the boys engaged in "self-reflection" after being provided this "new perspective" and again, I thought no they didn't. These are kids, it takes a lot more than that to get elementary kids, junior high kids, or high school kids to engage in self-reflection than a couple of age-old wisdom words. If it was really that easy, the problems described would have been fixed eons ago. The silliness of these anecdotes continues with everybody the author talks to having epiphanies and transformations all over the place. Including one stranger he met in a park who after a few minutes of conversation whipped out a pen and notebook and wrote pages of notes of his thoughts and feelings right there on the spot and left transformed. No, he didn't.

This book felt to me like a work of fiction with the author as the main character floating through life with a magical wand of wisdom sprinkling wisdom dust on people and watching their lives change before his very eyes. I had a hard time taking the message seriously through the ridiculous stories. It was also a repeat of what has already been discussed in other self-help books with no real new information being relayed.

I normally love a good self-help book, but this one just was not it.

Loved it

I really loved this book. It's full of great advice and wisdom, written in a gentle and serene tone. It feels like you're getting direct advice from a kind and gentle professor. Even the anecdotes are written in a tone that's gentle and intelligent. I also particularly liked that even though the book is written by a Rabbi, you aren't hit over the head with religion here. The lessons and words of encouragement that are shared here feel like they are written for anybody, of any faith, or of none at all. It's a judgment-free self help book. I plan to keep this book and re-read it in the future.

Reflective and inspirational.

I enjoyed every second of this adventure through resilience, self-discovery, and the transformative power of revisiting past experiences. The story focuses on personal development and self-help. The narrative follows the author's experiences as a rabbi and life coach. He helps others to overcome their negative thoughts.
The writing style is reflective and inspirational. There were a lot of anecdotes included. It was the author's way of offering advice, which I think he did great. I personally really enjoyed the fact that it was a quite empathetic and encouraging book to read. I found it to be very relatable.
The story made me feel all kinds of emotions. Such as hope and empowerment. After finishing it, I was left with a strong feeling of resilience and motivation. It made me reflect on my past successes and use these to combat present difficulties. I am definitely a much stronger person now.

A book that makes life easier!

It is the first time in my life that I read a book that proposes a methodology created by a Rabbi. In my context, I have little contact with Rabbis and I was positively surprised by the way Mr. Stein makes you see life less complex and more enjoyable.
The book proposes a series of techniques and methodologies to connect you with your wisdom. What I liked most about the book is that it proposes the idea that although you always need guidance and support, you always know what you want and can achieve in life.
If you are a person who is connected with your personal growth and with your inner self, without a doubt, you will love this book. Allow yourself to live this experience to take your life to another step of success. I recommend it with my eyes closed.

"Rediscover Your Wisdom" is an interesting read that has quickly drawn me in and immersed me in a deep journey of self-discovery and reflection. The central axis of the book is that the challenges of each person's current life are nothing more than reflections of past battles that we have already overcome, a perspective that offers comfort and relief when facing the problems of everyday life and of life's important conflicts.
The plot establishes an accessible and empathetic tone; the author demonstrates vast experience in spiritual and emotional issues. Honestly, I found the reading inspiring and very practical. I also really liked the structure of the book, since it has a series of techniques and strategies that encourage self-reflection and self-knowledge.

What a wonderful book

The author wrote a real gem that helps people to solve problems in a more empowered, rational and knowledgeable way that in turn helps to build self-confidence from the beginning. What I liked the most were the tangible and real techniques of introspection that leads to continuous growth to manage emotions in a healthy way.
The author reveals a deep and raw truth of the challenges of human beings, self-discovery and to fill you with courage by showing you that you are always your own best day, therapist and counselor. In my opinion it is not a traditional self-help book, this one is definitely different in the way it makes you reflect on your past experiences to conquer the challenges of the present.

This book is so insightful on getting to know and improving yourself by going through your past actions. Some people tell you to forget your past. Still, this teaches you how to embrace your past and look forward to your future. The chapter about mastering your emotions was beneficial as I sometimes get my feelings to control me, which has hurt my decisions from personal to professional relationships. Self-control is a great skill to master, to rise above the occasion and all. Being able to seek clarity from the fog also helps you keep focus and know that there may be setbacks in life, but you will still be able to get to your destination if you keep moving forward.

I think this book has been very beneficial for me. At first, it made me realize that the difficulties and obstacles I encounter now serve as reflections of the resilience I've shown in the past. This viewpoint can be quite empowering, as it reassures me that I possess the resources within myself to tackle any challenge that arises. It also allowed me to reflect on my own capabilities and strengths.

The resources shared by Rabbi Joel Stein have helped me develop effective strategies to address current and future challenges more effectively, allowing me to navigate life with greater confidence and clarity. I can certainly recommend this valuable guide, which will help you explore your own potential and find the power within you to overcome any challenge.

In the first approach I had with this book, a question undoubtedly came to my mind: What is wisdom and how can we move forward over what weighs us down? In a very sensitive and tactful way, Rabbi Joel Stein explains it to us, and reveals a unique perspective on self-discovery: each of us has the power to change our destiny.
I recommend this book for being revealing and for leaving a great lesson in me. Searching for the causes that make us feel bad, finding the moment to reflect and navigate within ourselves were the things I did to find the way to my wisdom, that is why I recommend this reading.

Rediscover Your Wisdom by Rabbi Joel Stein was just okay for me. The book offers a lot of familiar advice—basic things we all know we should do to live better lives, but often struggle to follow through on. While the intention is good, there wasn’t much that felt new or particularly insightful.

The stories used to illustrate the lessons didn’t really work for me. They felt too neat and unrealistic—life is messy, and these examples came across as overly simplified and kind of boring. I was hoping for something more impactful or thought-provoking, maybe even a bit revolutionary, but this didn’t quite deliver.

Not a bad book, but not one that stood out, either. Just not my cup of tea. I appreciate the opportunity to read and review this read.

Rabbi Stein takes the reader through a journey of selfdiscovery, highlighting the importance of personal actions to make a positive change in your world. The author takes negativity off and adds perspective, claiming that most of our problems can be solved by our own actions.

I find this book introspective, Stein shares his own experience helping people to build the confidence necessary to overcome any obstacles in their way because it ends up being a matter of perspective, how we look at the problem is more important than the dilemma itself.

Overall, it was a fine read, the author did an excellent job explaining difficult concepts with simple words and methods.

This book started off pretty strong and had some good points and I was genuinely enjoying it. About halfway through though it just lost me. I powered on a bit but decided to stop around the last third of the book.

Parts of this book try to explain psychological disorders can be fixed with sound logic and reasoning and is a product of their imagination, and...no. It felt a lot like a Boomer explanation to try anxiety is to "just relax and don't be so stressed".

This book also stresses that everything you are going through today can be fixed by things you've already done in your life but I find that's genuinely not always the case. There are some valid points and yes remembering how you overcame difficulty in last situations can be helpful, but not always applicable.

An excellent guide to self-improvement – and self-appreciation!

Author Rabbi Joel Stein is an Orthodox Jewish author and expert in both spiritual and layman guidance and now offers his expertise in this exceptional volume that blends philosophy with cognitive neuropsychology based on his premise that confidence and growth stem from understanding our own experiences – in familiar terms, ‘been there done that!’

In a most congenial and sensitive manner Rabbi Stein offers instruction on how to employ self-exploration to revisit through introspection problems from our past and how we coped or managed them successfully, underscoring our resilience and thus allowing us to face current challenges successfully. His well-considered advice pertains to dealing with emotional challenges, relationships at home and in the workplace, and life in general. The result – positive and successful growth and renewed systems of thoughts and actions that subdue fear and reinforce self improvement, as we become our own best therapist and advisor!

Written in a supportive style that references stories and asides that keep the flow of the book entertaining as well as instructive, this is a book to share with friends and family in a mission to make the world a better place. Very highly recommended

As with all self-help books I read, I base my review on whether or not there are good takeaways within the book that I can implement in my daily life. While this book had some good advice, I didn't walk away from it feeling that I learned anything new. It was all things that I think most of us innately know - always look for the positives, be kind to others, have empathy, etc.- and nothing revolutionary about how to change your mindset.

In addition, I found a lot of the stories and anecdotes to be unrealistic. Nobody has a 5 minute conversation with someone, diagnosis their problem, and presents a solution that they implement. Life just doesn't work that way and problems are much more complex than that. In fact, I worry that it almost makes light of certain problems people face when the author makes it sound like he just runs around solving major life issues for everyone with one conversation and suggestion.

The book is well written. Some people may feel some inspiration from its positive messages. But I don't feel it is worth it if you are looking for solid techniques to make improvements in your life.

I received an advance review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

In the book Rediscover Your Wisdom, Rabbi Stein tells us that we can, through self-reflection, be our best guide to achieve the path of improvement, because it gives us the opportunity for ourselves to know our strengths, weaknesses and motivations.
By giving examples and stories throughout the book that support the ideas developed, he allows us to identify our own experiences, discovering valuable lessons so that we establish our goals and the paths we must take to achieve them.
Then with techniques such as the 10 - 10 - 10 rule that allows us to foresee the consequences of the actions we take in the short and long term. I really found this type of proposals that Rabbi Stein offers us very significant, as it takes us to a practical level of how to carry out our self-reflection and introspection. I also loved the idea of looking for simple solutions to complex problems, since generally one thinks in a complex resolution to address a problem. If you are looking to generate a complete analysis of yourself in order to improve your visa status, be sure to read this book.

My first thought after finishing this book was, “I’m glad that’s over.” I received this book as a Goodreads giveaway. I was really excited to receive it thinking I’d have great insights to take away (or at least a new perspective or twist on what I already know). I’m really disappointed. There was literally nothing new. Just be kind, empathetic, look for the positives in life. Nothing new. Although there are many anecdotes throughout the book, they felt fictitious and far fetched. I found myself laughing with an eye roll. Each anecdote was here’s a problem, take my advice and it’s perfect immediately. All I kept thinking when he told a story was, “That did not happen in the real world.”

I will say I did like his writing style, but I think had he told his experiences with more quality versus quantity maybe I would have enjoyed this more and the experiences he discussed would have held more insight. I think because it had so many stories with the same results it fell flat and repetitive.

"Rediscover Your Wisdom" by Rabbi Joel Stein is a read that has profoundly impacted how I view my own experiences and challenges. What I loved most about the book is the way Rabbi Stein encourages readers to tap into their past to forge a stronger, more enlightened future. The idea that we often already hold the solutions to our current problems is both empowering and liberating. I think the practical techniques for self-reflection that Rabbi Stein details are exceptionally well-crafted; they offer steps that are easy to implement into daily life.
I believe this book stands out in the self-help genre by transforming introspection into a powerful tool for personal growth. The personal anecdotes and stories shared throughout the book really enrich the narrativ. Reading this book felt like uncovering a map to my inner resources, and I've already begun applying some of the strategies in my life with great success.

Everyone struggles with various problems throughout their lives. It is how we conquer those problems or submit to them that determines who we are as human beings. Rabbi Joel Stein posits something truly revolutionary: we have already triumphed over the challenges that preoccupy us.

If you grasp and accept that notion, you can approach your everyday life with a completely different mindset. At first, this concept makes little sense, but the rabbi explains it in such a way that it cannot be denied. If you can learn how to turn inward to find the answers to your most pressing concerns, you can become self-actualized. It is all about self-reflection and introspection. These are weapons that you already carry within you. You simply might not know how to use them yet.

You can learn to do so with help from this book. It serves as an invaluable guide as you shift your way of thinking about your life and the obstacles that you mistakenly believe have held you back.

The writing is engaging and approachable, making complex ideas easy to digest without feeling overly simplified.
